Jill Duggar Dillard's Upcoming Book

Jill Dillard just made a huge announcement: She has been writing a memoir, Counting the Cost, that is set to release on January 16th, 2024. The cover of the book says it is written by "Jill Duggar with Derick Dillard and Craig Borlase." Borlase is a New York Times bestselling ghostwriter. Gallery Books is the publisher, which is a division of Simon & Schuster. If you recall, Jill authored Growing Up Duggar (with Jana, Jessa, and Jinger) in 2016. The publisher was Howard books, which is also a division of Simon & Schuster.

According to the Simon & Schuster website, Counting the Cost will allow readers to, "for the first time, discover the unedited truth about the Duggars." People Magazine has an article with additional quotes. The title is available for pre-order wherever books are sold.

  1. Oh dear. Is she going to recant everything she said in "Growing Up Duggar":?

    1. I doubt it. Derick is in on the writing this time and he'll probably let 'er rip.

    2. Highly doubtful. This seems like it's going to be a book focusing on her life after marriage, specifically her relationship with her parents. This seems like it's going to be a Duggar book worth reading!

    3. Ugh.. it's like Harry and Meghan part 2

    4. She’s a grown adult. She should be able to say or do whatever she wants, as long as it’s in good conscience.

    5. I never read growing up Duggar, but I’d imagine she would be telling more info and details

    6. Just stop already. First people tell them to be more real and stop going along with their parents lies... But now they are getting mad because they are finally coming out with the truth and leaving their parents faith.

    7. Not very respectful, is she? Got that nose ring and went all wild...

      Delete
    8. 6:52 where does it say in the new testament we aren't suppose to have nose rings? Don't go to the old testament talking about tattoos because what tattoos and piercings was back then is completely different. Plus if we went by that we wouldn't be able to pierce are ears or cut our hair.

      Delete
    9. 10:53- poster never said a word about her nose ring being in the Bible or out of the Bible. They were implying she went wild and is going against how she was raised. That's how I read it anyway. Septum piercings aren't very attractive on anyone but hey if that's what she likes, go for it

    10. Nose ring and pants, don't forget the pants. Just goes to show you. Once you let them wear pants, there's no telling what it will lead to.

    11. Now I wanna get a nose ring and go wild too. Sounds like fun.

  2. Hopefully this is not another "I grew up in a bad religion but now I'm 'free' in a new religion that certainly doesn't have restrictions like my old one did, at least not that I can see." In other words, hope it's not like Jinger's book where she tried to convince everyone she was "free" of the old male headship and religious anxiety system. Hope the deception curtain is pulled back once and for all in this book.

    1. That's exactly what it sounds like..

    2. Jinger is free and you clearly didn't read her book. You keep commenting this. Jeremy opened her eyes to actually reading the bible which means the Duggars wasn't actually doing so because then they would had known that Bills teachings was false.

    3. Convinced? Ha! Stop acting like you know her. Her new church is very different and actually follows the bible.

    4. @6:43 Please enlighten us all by outlining the differences, if any, between John MacArthur's ideology and Bill Gothard's. Start with their stances on women in the church, women in marriage, the "umbrella of protection" system, and then compare where they both stand on corporal punishment for children. That's a "very different" church??

      Delete
    5. As a member of Grace community church I can say that John MacArthur is a Godly shepherd of His flock, led by the Holy Spirit. He preaches the truths from the Bible and stands up for our right to worship. When our governor wanted to shut down all houses of worship in California our pastor stood firm even when he was threatened to be jailed!! John MacArthur has nothing to do with Bill Gothard or the basic life principles.

  13. Her parents created this mess and now she's capitalizing on it. I don't know whether this is a good thing or a bad thing. Maybe just a sad thing all around? I mean think of all the kids who get to grow up without going through this nonsense and (thankfully) have no story to sell.

      Delete
    3. ...or is it the daughter's being influenced and a mess has been created for them? Unfortunately l, they've been raised without too much worldly influence which is good in one way, but bad in others. I have a feeling they've been talking to people who want to make the Duggar family sound nuts. The world is the devil's playground and it's a shame that the men of the house don't put a stop to this nonsense

    4. True 10:49 but what a shame they have that story to tell and not a normal childhood.

    5. @12:16 Become familiar with what has happened with the men in IBLP leadership and what was going on behind closed doors. There are legal records that spell it all out. The last thing these girls need is more men telling them what they can and can't do.

  14. You go girl! I can't wait to read this. I am so glad Jinger and Jill told their own individual stories. Everyone's experience is different. I hope Jana, Jessa and Joy-Anna tells their story next.

  15. Where do I begin. I watched the Duggars literally build their new home together using math skills learned while being homeschooled. I watched them carry out their jurisdictions (chores!) like a cooperative and good spirited team...each older child helping and teaching a younger one...such wholesome and respectful (never perfect) cheerful helpers! I watched the Duggars kids play instruments, and Jessa, while learning to drive! I remember tater-tot casseroles being lovingly made by teens! You see, you shared your incredible, bountiful most unusual blessed life with us all and it made us smile and have hope for this crazy world we live in! We were inspired beyond intrigue!! Then came 2015...the year our country went downhill..so...some just HAD to stop those Duggars..oh yeah..so they dug, and DUG..and now the dye has been cast. Sadly... the refreshing, purehearted, and modestly beautiful ways our country THIRSTED for and you presented to us are now diminished somewhat...yup, just as the left would have wanted! But here's the good news...the wholesome faith that stirs a life is not all lost, just tweeted some..and Girls: Oh by God's mercy and goodness..NEVER give up on the good your upbringing gave you! Until this scandal hit, you were not tainted. PLEASE remember your AMAZING roots..do not get off track or sucked in too much. May you grow older, and never depart from it. Love you all and praying for you all!

    2. Do you actually believe that children WANT to care for younger siblings and do household chores? The show was pure fantasy and was carefully scripted to make them appear to be something no family really is. IMO putting your children on national TV is not a "good" upbringing.

      Delete
    3. They most likely have departed from it..

    4. 10:44 that is partially true. However, back in my day older siblings did help take care of the younger siblings. These days kids priorities are games and phones.

  17. I been waiting for years for something like this to happen. Finally these kids gained their own voice and are speaking up. I really enjoyed Jinger's book and I can't wait to read from Jill's perspective. I can imagine it will be a lot more harsh as they had issues with her parents. I don't feel sorry for the parents either but I will say this again, you are never to old to get caught up in a cult-like or full blown cult. It clouds everything, especially judgement. Michelle and Jim Bob know the truth about Bill now or maybe they always had. If they continue to follow his false teachings, they are just as bad.

    1. No, don't try to take that away from them. They are finally speaking up! As for Jinger, Jeremy pointed out that Bills teachings was not biblical. She started looking into the bible more herself. Sometimes it does take someone to help you see but the choice was hers to leave that religion. The biggest question is now if Bills people was not reading the bible, what book was it?

    2. Yep.. not necessarily a good thing either. Brother Jed is against what the girls are saying. This could get interesting

  21. I'm becoming concerned about the Duggar "tell-alls" of late. I understand that they probably have stories to tell as they share the good, bad, and ugly experiences that came with growing up in the Duggar family. I'd like to go one step further and ask if these books, videos, etc. being done by the Duggar adult children have been turned into money-making activities for them. I know that the Duggar children didn't go to vocational schools or college, and hence, may be having difficulty earning an adequate income. I truly hope that these media endeavors aren't being used just to make ends meet.

  26. Pride cometh before a fall. Jim Bob and Michelle tried to make people believe they had the perfect family. I bought into it at first, but then realized all was not as it seemed. No family is perfect. Not one. I love the family and will always wish them the best, but feel relieved that the IBPL is being shown for what it really is and I pray it frees others who are bound to its ridiculous rhetoric and harmful effects. Just like Scientology, the Catholic,Mormon and Jehovas Witnesses, all and any churches with dark secrets, and there are many ,the truth will eventually come out. And so it should. Wish people would see religion for what it is. A person starts a group based on their own personal beliefs and others who agree with them follow along. Next thing you know they call it a religion and start up a church. If they didn't ruin people's lives it wouldn't be so bad, but they do.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I wish people would stop saying "no family is perfect." Please don't compare a family who might argue or not get along with the immoral and illegal things that happened in the Duggar family. Huge difference. You're right about IBLP though. The docuseries exposure was long overdue. Also, we need to remember that the Bates family is deeply involved with them too.

      Delete
    2. They NEVER made out like they were a perfect family when I watched. You're right about that religion they were involved in, but I hope they (children, ) never lose their faith in God

      Delete
    3. I didn't see it that way. They had many family struggles. Josie's birth, Jubilee's death.. it seems TLC wanted to see daily life of this family of 14 (I think) at the time.

  27. WOW for what Justine? Sometimes your comments confuse me

  28. Jill needs to be more forgiving and thankful, the only reason she has a platform is due to her parents. If she was your average person like myself that had a childhood that stunk, she would not be getting all of this attention. Quite frankly its just wrong to tell your family junk to anyone but a counselor. She and her sister Jill must be spending time with Megan and Harry. I wont be reading her winy book.

    1. Wait til their kids say stuff about them then.. that free speech will change for sure

      Delete
    2. @9:53 What will those kids say? Let's look into the future. "Dad was a second generation mascot at college and I'm going to follow in his footsteps now that I'm at that same college." "Dad went to law school and I want to too." "Dad spent his career prosecuting law breakers." "My parents found a way on their own to be one-income and raise three kids." "Mom saw how wrong her upbringing was and raised us differently." The only other think I can think of is how Derick had some strong opinions years ago that he posted online, but those stopped when he went back to school. None of that takes away from the damage done by Jim Bob and Michelle.

    3. 12:37.. never ever trust lawyers!
