I am so happy for her and they are treating her like a real author! People can hate all they want and try to twist it around. You got enough time to do that, you have enough time to write your own book.
It is very common for public figures to have ghostwriters. Of course Jinger didn’t write the book on her own. Yes, this is different than “editing.” The writer would have had an agreement for compensation for his work on the book. It’s still from Jinger’s perspective, which is why she would give interviews and the hired help would not.
@3:07 An editor is not the same as an author. A cover designer is not the same as an author. Jinger's book has "With Corey Williams" on the front. That means he's the co-author, co-writer, "ghostwriter," whatever you want to call him. He wrote it with Jinger. Yet he's not being interviewed, which is odd. Jinger and Corey should be appearing together since they wrote the book together. It was a collaboration. We know where Jinger has been but where has Corey been and why isn't he at any of the interviews?
I'd love to see Jinger bring her ghostwriter with her to an interview and introduce him publicly. That would be interesting to watch. He should explain how he came to work with her and how much of the book is his work.
8:29 I'd love to hear his take on all this. Jeremy's too. I don't think Jinger would have "written" a book without Corey and Jeremy getting together and coming up with this idea. Jinger probably would have been happy to be home with the girls, no spotlight. She doesn't seem comfortable with these interviews and is only saying what has been rehearsed, not what's really on her heart.
Maybe because he was the real author of the book….as told to by Jinger Duggar. If she is going to write a book about her upbringing then she needs to be COMPLETELY honest. Jinger puts ALL the blame on Gothard but nothing about her parents choosing to follow him. She doesn’t need to be rude about it, but just be honest.
Jinger was 100% honest. If you was honest, she is probably the only author you bash online. She has done the same thing as other authors. Why is it different for her? Oh because of her maiden name and expensive shoes lol. Y'all are sad.
@5:39 Seems you're not in touch with everything being reported about this book in mainstream reviews and on book sales sites. Maybe if you read those you'd understand how questions have arisen.
Dear 3:06. You don't understand about being on the New York Times Best Sellers list, which Jinger's book is not on this week. Not at all. You can check for yourself. While you're on the site, please read the information about the dagger symbol. Several books there still have it, including one that's new this week, written by someone who left the Southern Baptists. So what does it tell you when Jinger's book was there with a dagger, and then suddenly, after what, 2 weeks, 3 at most, isn't there? The sales figures are no longer up (due to early bulk sales) and off the list your book falls. That's what happens to any book that can't keep up sales for consecutive weeks. That's how the list works. That's how the symbol works. Nobody is lying.
Re 10:11, for the doubter. There are several ways to game the list to get on it if you're an author or publisher. It's no longer a good indicator of how well a book is really selling to the public. If the dagger is added, it's more suspicious. (Jinger had a dagger.)
No, 3:07 a.k.a. the "lol" person: "A dagger indicates that some retailers report receiving bulk orders." - NYT themselves Also - Simply Googling "what does a dagger symbol mean on the NYT Best Sellers List mean" will give you over 300,000 results all saying the same thing. Proven false? No.
Yes. That was very sad. However, considering the laws in effect in Arkansas we can only be grateful that she somehow was able to receive appropriate medical care for the situation.
@10:06 Not true. Maybe it's your opinion but it's not medically true. I can't believe at this point that anyone doesn't understand basic medical facts about all pregnancy terminations.
@10:06 There is no consensus on when a fertilized egg becomes a person to be protected. Not even religions agree. Furthermore, the Constitution doesn't mention the unborn at all, let alone grant them any rights. Only those BORN or naturalized in the US are guaranteed the right to life, liberty, etc. We cannot give a right to a fertilized egg, embryo or fetus that no living breathing person has- the right to force someone to use their body to keep it alive. We can't mandate organ harvesting after death, even though it saves lives. Banning abortion and forcing women to give birth leaves them with less bodily autonomy than a corpse. If you oppose abortion, you are free to never have one.
8:06 actually they do if a pregnant mother early on in pregnancy is unalived by someone, they get charged twice. That's why the U.S. is at a crisis with women's health because theres so many loop holes that says life starts at conception and early enough to charged if taken away.
Life does begin at conception. Even if the Doppler can't detect the heart beat, the ultrasound can see the flicker. This is why people both pro & anti will never agree because the politicians get involved and lie about it. You know you are being lied too when a egg that belongs to a Eagle is more protected than human life. Just like these days people can choose to have a boy or girl because they can tell by Y and X chromosomes if the sperm is male or female. Week 4 the amniotic and placenta is forming. The placenta holds more of the father's DNA. Week 5 begins the heart beat "flicker or spark". The brain and nerves are forming. A layer of skin, bones, hair, nails and lungs even though it's a little tadpoles at that point. And by week 6 which is usually when people find out they are pregnant, the babys heart is beating faster and can be heard with an early ultrasound. The eyes, nose and mouth forms too. Now there are exceptions that I think abortions are called for such as SA.
Non 8:30 Well the funny thing about these "heartbeat" laws that are being enacted is that at 6 weeks an embryo doesn't HAVE a heart so maybe we should back off on the matter.
8:16 "Life begins at conception" is a red herring argument. Of course, it's the start of a human life, but that's it. The fact that is conveniently evaded is that there's no consensus on when a fertilized egg becomes a person to be protected. Not even religions agree.
@6:37 I think you are referring to the Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004. It explicitly contained a provision exempting abortion, stating that the bill would not be construed to permit the prosecution of any person for conduct relating to an abortion for which the consent of the pregnant woman has been given, nor could she be prosecuted.
Clearly you guys never read anything about conception because at 6 weeks medical and pregnancy books say if you get a early ultrasound at 6 weeks "you can detect the heart beat on screen but you won't be able to hear it yet." They all literally say heart beat. Call it whatever you want but there is so much contradiction between what you say science says when the same science also says something else too lol. Pick up a book sometime.
This is just my opinion here. I think Jinger and Jill need to have a sit down talk with their parents. I think this is a classic case of a child that is use to getting her way. Regardless of what happened and how old they are now, they need to respect their parents a lot better. They can't just drop out their faith because mommy and daddy didn't gave them money. Michelle gave birth to them. They don't owe their kids nothing.
7:29AM If you've given birth to children, you owe them SOMETHING. I disagree with you that you owe them nothing. Don't have children if you're not prepared to give them a good foundation. Jim Bob and Michelle did their best, at the time, but now that they're learning from Jinger that she felt she was raised on a foundation of FEAR, maybe they should learn from that and make sure Josie and all the younger children aren't feeling as fearful as the older ones did. Jim Bob and Michelle need to reexamine their methods perhaps, and base their teachings on the Bible (that was written by many God-inspired men) rather than IBLP principles (written by one man who might not have been God-inspired).
I disagree. Having a confrontation with your parents is about the WORST thing you can do as it leads to nothing but hard feelings on both sides. I don't see either Jill or Jinger as "spoiled children". They are adults and have made their own decisions about what they believe. That is not disrespectful to their parents in any way. If they wish to go public with their decisions that's OK. As for money, they were forced to work on the TV show by no choice of their own. They were owed compensation for that.
Jinger and Jill are adults and it's not "disrespectful of them to modify their religious views. However, IMO is a really BAD idea for them to engage with their parents over their differing views. All that will happen is everyone will become extremely angry and no one will accept the other's viewpoints. That's how life works.
@7:29 Perhaps I missed something, but Jinger hasn't said anything about her parents owing them money. The problems stem from her upbringing in the IBLP organization.
OP this is exactly what I been saying, it's all about money for Jinger and Jill. Their parents are kind people. If home life was that bad, a lot of those kids over 18 would leave. This is what happens when you spoil your child.
@5:19 Do you know how many children out there have bad or harmful parents? You certainly can, as an adult, engage them about differing views, or even walk away from the completely. You have to stand up for yourself and your own beliefs. If that means no parental contact later in life, it's usually for the better. Do you really expect all adult children to never say a word for themselves for fear of angering a parent? Are children expected to accept everything sent their way without question?
@8:17 How do you know her parents are kind people? Are you going by what you were shown on TV? Or do you know them personally? You should clarify exactly how you think that they're kind because we're wondering.
Yes, it's like watching the Roloff saga too. Matt and Amy's children act the same way. Zack and Jinger are so similar. You can't have everything you want in life and you can't have everything handed to you.
Having been at a few family fights through no choice of mine, I would strongly recommend NOT having a talk with parents (or any other family member for that matter) over differing religious or political views. Things get ugly quickly. Trust me. Stick to more neutral topics.
@9:09 Why would they want to leave something hanging like that? It's unfinished business, which is worse than having a discussion and getting it over with. People show their true colors in such discussions. If they don't want to be open and accepting, you soon find out what you're dealing with. Better than pretending differences don't exist and having that constant undertow.
I grew up in a liberal home. Before going to college I spend time doing volunteer work in abroad. I had the opportunity choosing a great uni and get a master's degree there. My husband and I set our own rules and guidelines while dating, we decided everything for our future ourselves. I had the liberty to choose to stay at home while the kids were small. I have had a meaningful career. The Duggar girls and the Keller girls really had nothing of that kind of freedom I had. Their path was chosen for them. Jinger has said that even getting to know your future spouse was difficult because you couldn't have even have a heart to heart discussion with your fiancee without someone tagging along. IBLP is a cult and I'm glad that the children of this cult are speaking against it. Jinger and Jill aren't the only ones. There are many who grew up in this movement and were traumatized. They are not spoiled!
Jinger's parents used her voice to promote their religious beliefs when she was a young adult - by putting their family on TV, by having the oldest girls write a book, etc. She has expressed that she feels badly that she was part of promoting these beliefs that she now realizes we're harmful to herself & to others. I feel that she has every right to speak openly about how her beliefs have changed and to use her own voice to help those who are going through a similar "disentangling" of their faith.
@3.3 9:09AM Having been few a few family fights too I can tell you that it's not better to sweep things under the rug or pretend there aren't differences. There's nothing worse than issues that sit there and fester. They eat you up from the inside. Better to get them into the open so everyone knows where they stand.
For those of you that want to have "open and frank" discussions with family members about religious and political differences, go ahead. Please explain what you think these comments are jealous of. People have been claiming jealousy left and right since the show began but at this point, I don't know why anyone would be jealous of any Duggar. You have been following along with what they've all gone through, haven't you? Not exactly jealousy material. More like material to make everyone else realize how good they have it by comparison.
No one is "jealous" of this family. They may have looked good at the beginning of their rise to fame, but who would want to have all their "dirty laundry" on public display like they have had over the past few years.
The only person I'm remotely jealous of is whoever won that billion dollar Powerball jackpot. Certainly not jealous of any Duggars and what they've been through, no way.

Good for her and all those other authors getting these opportunities :)
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for her and they are treating her like a real author! People can hate all they want and try to twist it around. You got enough time to do that, you have enough time to write your own book.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they're treating her like a real author but I wonder how all the other people who collaborated on this book feel about that.
DeleteYes, where are the interviews for Mr. Williams? I'd love to hear about how he came to write this story. Has he written any other books?
Delete3:44 same with all the other authors, right? They all have help in editing and the cover.

ReplyDeleteGotta keep her book name out there, even if the sales numbers are being questioned.

DeleteBen and Jessa Seewald had another miscarriage.
ReplyDeleteThis isn’t about Jessa….it’s about Jinger…. Sorry about Jessa but this isn’t the place for this statement
DeleteI saw the video on YouTube. How sad.😥 Hope they get pregnant again soon after a season to heal from this loss.
DeleteWho cares? They already have four kids. My friend hasn't been able to have any.
DeleteYes. That was very sad. However, considering the laws in effect in Arkansas we can only be grateful that she somehow was able to receive appropriate medical care for the situation.
Delete9:24 that's because a D&C is completely different and doesn't end life.
Delete9:24, an abortion is not "medical care." It's killing a living human being. A D&C is removing an unborn baby that has already died.

Delete@8:30 There's life and then there's viable life. Big difference.
DeleteLife does begin at conception. Even if the Doppler can't detect the heart beat, the ultrasound can see the flicker. DeleteI can't help but to notice the (Duggar) in her name again. I see someone separating soon from hubby.
