Josh Duggar Sentenced to 151 Months

Following court proceedings that began at 9:30am and ran into the mid afternoon, Josh Duggar received a sentence. The Sun reported live during during the hearing and released the news of the sentence moments ago. The former reality TV star received 151 months in jail, which amounts to 12 years 7 months.

  1. Viewing the sexual assault and torture of babies is only worth 12 years?

  2. So glad that the family can now move forward. I highly doubt his appeal will result in a new trial or changes to the sentence imposed. I feel for Anna, seven children, living with her in laws and no means of independent support. I do hope she will allow herself and her children professional counseling. There are obvious issues within the Duggar family that I believe make it a less than ideal environment to raise her (Anna's) children? All I can do is pray and hope for the best for all of them.

    1. She can get a job and have independent support. She can do what a lot of other single moms in this country have to do.

  3. When all is said and done Josh's family has been terribly hurt by this mess. I feel for his children and for Anna in particular, having to explain why daddy won't be coming home.

  4. I do hope Anna gets some counseling about this. She seems completely in denial. Josh was found guilty of accessing pictures and videos of atrocity made against children. Her letter to the judge starting he had a tender heart and a servants heart worry me. Not only has he committed adultery, but he has viewed vile material where innocent children were harmed. There is nothing tender about that.

    1. The "servant's heart" language is simply boilerplate. It makes me sick to hear her talk about depraved Josh that way.

    2. @1:59 Appear one way but act another.... That is one of the oldest stories in the book. Read about Ananias and his wife in Acts 5, and the deception they tried to pull off while making themselves appear generous.

  5. At least Josh got more than I thought he might get. Prayers for Anna and children.

  6. Glad to see he got longer than the ridiculous five years his family wanted, but he should have gotten the full twenty years. He should never be allowed around children again.

    1. He shouldn't be allowed around a computer ever again and it's good that the judge added that stipulation for 20 years after release.

  7. What a relief to have this settled. A long sentence and quite fair IMO

  8. Is there a chance he will only serve two thirds?? Of his sentence? Praying for his kids

    1. Other reports say that for federal crimes they have to serve at least 85% in prison

    2. He's going to serve 10 years and 7 months. That's 85% of his sentence "IF" he stays out of trouble

  9. Glad justice has prevailed. He deserves to be in jail for what he did to his family years ago and now.

  11. It makes me so sick to my stomach to have read those letters from Anna and Michelle (and others), and to think that NONE of them have acknowledged the victims in the situation. Some of the kids have thankfully, but that core group around Josh hasn't said a word. They talk about how great he is, and never say anything about how terrible he has become. It's disingenuous.

  13. This entire situation is just sad. I hope that the victims of these crimes heal and that their families heal as well. Moving forward, I hope that Anna and her children will have the support which they will need.

  14. The name of the film company, the names of their staff, the names of all others who watched the videos need to be made public so they can be shamed and their parents be vilified the way Josh and his parents are being vilified. I find it despicable there is no public outcry for the producers and makers of the videos nor the website that made the videos public, just Josh and his parents being blamed.

    1. Alberta Rose, I may be wrong but I don’t think a production company makes the videos. Many, if not all are made by individual degenerates who then sell them online in the dark recesses of the internet. IMO Josh should be vilified. What he did is illegal, & rightly so as infants & children are subjected to horrific sexual abuse for the perverted pleasure of evil people.

    2. Film company? Staff? Any film company would know that producing such material is against the law. And the authorities would crack down and charge them. As for others watching the material, the authorities do everything they can to find those who view and download this disgusting material. Interpol, the RCMP, and the FBI all work together since this material crosses borders. @1:21 is correct. This material is produced by sick individuals who post it on the dark web.

    3. Since there's no way to know who actually made or posted the videos Josh viewed the responsible parties usually escape the authorities who would punish them if they could.

    4. If there weren't people like Josh creating a market for this kind of filth and crimes against children, there wouldn't be other reprobates making the content for them to watch.

    5. The person who made one of the videos has been caught, in another country.

    6. To AnonymousJune 24, 2022 at 2:14 PM: I carefully reread my comment. NO WHERE do I say Josh should not be vilified. The person or people who make this sort of thing need to be held accountable for their actions. As long as there is no public outcry for them, all the focus on the person who does the watching, this sort of thing will continue on.

    7. Of course the people who make this sort of thing are held accountable, when they get caught. There doesn't need to be more "public outcry" to know that NOBODY should be making that stuff OR looking at it. One group is just as guilty as the other, the people who make it and the people who watch it. There could be one person who makes a video but countless people who watch it and share it online. Stands to reason that there would appear to be more "outcry" for that larger number of people, especially when they get caught. Giving them that outcry should act as a deterrent. It should scare people. Josh was not the first to get caught with that one video. The feds were tracking it closely because it was so heinous and probably a guarantee of a conviction. The person who produced the video was arrested years ago.

    8. Alberta Rose, you're joking, right? There's no "film company" that makes these videos. These are sick people who take these kids and make these videos. Obviously there is massive outcry but finding out who made the videos isn't an easy feat.

    1. Why? Josh did it to himself.

    2. Unfortunately not a lot of people have that attitude and are vilifying Michelle and Anna. It's another reason how people can get away with producing this sort of thing. Society is quick to blame on a person was raised, or blame the spouse, instead of heaping all the scorn on the person who did it to themself.

  26. Enough is enough. Josh is serving his time. No one else needs to be prayed on/over. He is the sole decision maker for himself. His actions affect others, yes. However, he is the root of his own problems. He has been taken care of (sentenced). Now everyone can carry on.
