Following a days-long trial, attended by Anna and various Duggar family members, the jury serving in the Josh Duggar case delivered its verdict to the judge. Joshua Duggar has been found guilty on knowing receipt and possession of child pornography. He was immediately taken into custody and was able to tell Anna that he loved her before being escorted out of the court room. Jim Bob and the other family members who were in attendance accompanied Anna out of the courthouse to a waiting vehicle.
According to the prosecution, by law, Josh will be sentenced only on one count, receipt. Sentencing will take four months.
PEOPLE Magazine published an article describing the scene in the courtroom. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar published a statement, which can be read on their website.
We encourage you to pray for the entire Duggar family as they deal with the emotions and aftermath of this situation. We especially encourage you to pray for Anna and her seven children. We cannot fathom the brokenness they must be feeling, and our hearts go out to them as they move forward.
If any of the Duggar fans followed this trial closely, they can't come to any other conclusion than the jury. I can't believe that they will appeal, how arrogant.
ReplyDeleteIt's only Josh (I am sure Anna if she is still in denial) and his team. His family already knows the truth and accepted the outcome.
DeleteThey will only be able to move forward with professional help, therapy, self care, love, facing the truth. I. Just hope Anna will not become the visiting him in prison type of wife, but I doubt she will ever cut the cord. How sad.
ReplyDeleteI really hope Anna can somehow find her self worth. And, she realizes she deserves someone that would not do the things that Josh has done. She has been through so much and she deserves so much better.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry
ReplyDeletePoor Anna, she kept believing him so much. She is such a nice person. Don't understand the God's plan for her. She is such a devoted wife, with a proper husband she could be so happy.:(
ReplyDeleteWhere are the statements from the other Duggars?
ReplyDeleteI have read a few statements from Josh's adult siblings, they support the jury's decision and are glad the truth is known. I would like to see his parents own the inappropriate way they dealt with Josh as a teenager and make a supportive statement toward their daughters who he violated.
DeleteI hope everyone will pray for the children of that man. They are innocent in all of this. More importantly pray for the children and babies who are the victims. One victimizer is off the streets but there are so many more still out here and unfortunately until all of these predators are removed from society there will always be a chance that someone's child, even your own who may fall victim. It should not matter who the predator is whether a stranger, neighbor, family friend, or family it is up to the adults to protect the children from these deviants. Thank you for the opportunity to express my opinion.
ReplyDeleteIf all people who did this crime got treated like Josh Duggar is being treated, it would go a long ways towards creating change. Odd how prior to Josh, though, no one said the person's family, method of education, church and spouse should be judged, just the person who did the crime
DeleteThis is painful. I admired the whole Duggar family a lot. While I realize that it's not the parents faults how their son decides to live life now, I feel like they could have handled Josh's past differently. Why did his siblings only now learn what exactly happened in the past? How could Jim Bob not remember the details of his daughters being molested by their brother? I wonder what Anna thinks right now. Did she notice any red flags? I hope the children and everyone else gets real help. I hope for Anna to break free and find true happiness. This is so sad.
ReplyDelete6:32, For many of us, that initial admiration turned to "Wait, something is off here..." Then it was only a matter of time til our feelings were validated.
DeleteI feel so sorry for Anna!
ReplyDeleteI hope she wakes up and removes herself and her children from all of this and the public eye.
DeleteI have 7 children. It would be very hard raising them without my husband. I'm praying for Anna.
ReplyDeletePraying for their family. They've been through a lot :(
ReplyDeleteBroken lives, tons. How sad.
ReplyDeleteWhile I have sympathy for Anna and her children, especially her children because they are innocent. My heart is with the victims of csam and all who have been victims of this horrible unspeakable crime.
ReplyDeleteI will pray for the victims.
ReplyDeleteMO- Me too Nikki. :o(
DeleteI don’t understand if they prayed for the LORD God’s will to be done and not theirs. And the was found guilty. Then why are they appealing? Do they not believe in the will of God and not the will of man? They prayed for the truth and the truth was revealed. I just don’t understand. Don’t pray for the will of God to be done and when it’s not what you want get upset. And remember the LORD God’s will, will always come to pass no matter what man tries to do to twist and turn in in the direction they want.
ReplyDeleteThey always appeal. The lawyers are just doing their jobs.
DeleteHis family believes in the right conviction, it's Josh and his team that is appealing it - not his family.
Delete@12:49 No, Jim Bob was also visibly upset with all the court proceedings, before and after the trial, and is not going to accept the decision without an appeal.
DeleteI'm so sorry
ReplyDeleteWhat about the brokenness and permanent scars of the children pictured in the chil pornography that Josh downloaded? Everyone seems to being asked to pray for Anna but she is not the one abused and filmed in horrifying acts pictured in the photos that Josh loved.
ReplyDeleteHave you done that every time someone has been arrested for that crime? Do you lobby for better laws so it's harder to make child porn? Do you vilify the parents of the children who allow their children to be filmed? Josh is not the first person to be arrested for this crime nor will he be the last.
DeleteThank you for saying this 10:52
DeleteYes, the children deserve our prayers. There are all kinds of abuse, Anna and her children have, are and will continue to suffer emotional abuse and betrayal....to say nothing of abandonment. Josh was found guilty of something disgusting and he will be punished...but so will Anna and their children.
DeleteI will be praying for you guys every day.
ReplyDeleteSad situation for Anna, her children and the Duggar siblings.
ReplyDeleteSad
ReplyDeleteI just want all 18 of Josh's siblings to know that neither myself, or plenty of other fans, attach any of the blame for Josh's crimes, to them. I hope that this blog will continue to serve as a place where I can continue to follow along with what the rest of Josh's siblings are up to.
ReplyDeleteNicely said!
DeleteWhile they are siblings, you still give home attention and power calling them, “his siblings.’ Especially since some where his victims. Use Duggar family, children or their names. They deserve the separation and recognition of who THEY are.
DeletePeace be to them all.
I totally agree. The other Duggar siblings shouldn't be judged by Josh's horrific actions. My heart goes out to them as they have to be struggling in the midst of this devastating situation.
DeleteIt would be important, tough, that the siblings would denounce those horrible crimes. We only had statements (more or less serious) from Jill, Joy, Jinger, Jessa, and Jason retweeted Jinger's statement. I would wish that the other siblings would distance themselves.
Delete12:20, maybe the others distance themselves by handling it in the way that feels most comfortable to them, namely staying private. Do we really need 18 statements?
DeletePlease, Ellie, don’t post comments. There are no more words or judgments needed for this horrific situation.
ReplyDeleteWe can't ignore that this happened.
DeleteI disagree OP. Every conviction the feds get should be discussed and should serve as a lesson. How else will this criminal activity end if there are no consequences, either private or public?
DeleteTo Dec 15 @ 9:57PM…. Really don’t post any more …. We need to let them know it’s not ok what Josh did and needs to be held accountable and justice was served…. It’s now time to let everyone that was effected by Josh… his sisters, the church and the children in those videos… I pray that they will be prayed over and healed emotionally…. You need to move on… it’s important we lift everyone up in prayer at this time
Delete7:00 PM - The problem is people took it to far leading up to the case. It caused huge arguments. Honestly, I don't want to read ANYTHING about Josh or see his face on this site at all.
DeleteAgreeing with 7:00 and I'd also add that God talks about the dangers of not rejecting instruction, refusing correction, scorning discipline, and experiencing the judgement of God as a result. He spends a lot of time talking about how people harden their hearts, kill their consciences, hide their sin, only to be found out. This does in fact need to be discussed here. we all could use a good reminder of what happens when we choose to go down that road.
DeletePersonally, I don't understand why should we talk about it? It's been talked about and he's been convicted. I am tired of people bringing up Josh every chance they get even under blog posts that has nothing to do with him. I don't like him and I don't like seeing his name scrolling through comments. I swear some people have a obsession with him.
DeleteWe should pray for the victims
ReplyDeleteIt is possible to pray for everyone. A lot of people have been hurt by this.
DeleteWho knows how many people were involved in this or how many more downloaded these images?
DeleteI feel so bad for Josh and Anna's chidren. The youngest is not even 2 months old. And since Josh was arrested in the Spring, all kids had to deal with noot having their father around, their mom being pregnant and torn between them and visiting their dad. I wonder how they explained it all to the kids. Mackynzie is 12 already, Michael is 10, Marcus is 8... they are old enough o question what's going on. Others are still young and can be told that their dad is sick or something. And then when Josh will be in jail for a long time, what the children will feel? Where they all will be living? with the Duggars? Would Jim Bob and Michelle be able to bring up such a bunch again? So sad.
ReplyDeleteLike other Moms of children who have Dad's in prison long term, the Moms pick up the pieces and press on. Anna has always been a very hands on attentive Mom and so she and the children will be ok. It will never be the same for obvious reasons but like thousands and thousands of other families in these situations they make it work and will make it through this. I'm thankful that a spotlight on child pornography has happened and that more will be done to rescue the children who are being abused and even murdered in this horrific crime. I'm so thankful that people who never thought about this horrible crime are now more aware of it and more pressure will be put on the authorities to go after all those involved in it.
DeleteHow can U feel sorry for Josh???????? Everyone tried to help, Josh never met anyone effort, and he made the choice to do what he did!!!!!!
DeleteWhy don’t we pray for the victims instead of Josh? I feel horrible for his kids but Josh did something horrific
Delete3:05 AM - Because he needs prayer to change. Now he has all the time in the world and he can't hurt anyone for a long time.
Delete3:05, posted under the wrong comment?
DeleteWhy would you feel bad for Josh? He is a child predator plain and simple. I can understand feeling bad for Anna because she doesn't seem to know how to protect her children. There is something very wrong here if people are feeling bad for anyone who would do such things to babies and children.
DeleteI wonder how Anna's family feels about this?
DeleteYou can not blame the whole family for one person's actions. I feel so heart broken for Anna and her kids and I know it is hard on Jim Bob and Michelle knowing their son is going to prison. People want to judge them for believing he is innocent, but most parents believe their children do no wrong. I have always said, if those in prison were as innocent as their parents believe they are there would be no one in prison. It's human nature to want to think the best of your children. It's a battle between your heart and your head. Your heart says "my child could never do that" while your brain says "it looks like he/she did that." I pray Josh repents and is truly remorseful, and I especially pray for the children in the pictures and videos.
ReplyDeleteI wish people would have as much sympathy and compassion for the children in these horrific videos as they do for the Duggars. These children were innocent until forced to perform for sick individuals and those who watch. The victimized children deserve prayers, compassion, therapy, and hope! God grace upon them.
ReplyDeleteDue to a friend going through the same experience, although thankfully due to their spouse not being a TV personality it wasn't world wide news, I know how Anna and the older children feel. Regretfully some people are reacting like Josh is the first person to do this, and are focusing on what he has done, rather than using this as a means to demand better laws to prevent the filming of child pornography. Perhaps Anna will use this as an opportunity to help those who want things to change. My prayers go out to Anna and her family.
ReplyDeleteGlad the trial is over. What bothers me now is that the lawyers plan to appeal. If the case were that botched or that unfair, the jury wouldn't have been unanimous.
ReplyDeleteIt’s normal to try to appeal in most cases. I wouldn’t worry about it going anywhere
DeleteTerribly sad for so many. I hope they find strength and healing in this time of great strife. My heart hurts for Jill this week as well. Her husband has yet picked yet another publicity seeking moment to criticize her father. I cannot imagine how he deems that helpful for his wife who has gone through this awful trial bringing up difficult memories and a recent miscarriage. He keeps saying jb justifies his actions for personal gain but I think he’s talking about himself. May he find some way to take care of his own family and stop this spite driven endless hunt for headlines to hurt others and seek attention for himself. Feel so sorry for her.
ReplyDeleteWe don't know them personally and who is telling the truth.
DeleteI'm glad justice was served for Josh. I pray for the family to heal. I'm glad Jim Bob and Michelle are there for Anna and the children. Natasha b
ReplyDeleteI think you need to remove Josh's picture on the top and replace it with one of Anna and the children. The man is convicted, there is no need to see his "smiling" face
ReplyDeleteI agree. Something about it doesn’t seem right. It’s not appropriate that we are advertising his face on the header
DeleteI totally agree. Please remove his picture. No one wants to see him.
DeleteReplace the picture with one of the children.
Nonsense. He's still a member of the family. They can move on without taking such a drastic step.
DeleteThey aren’t the wholesome family that they advertised themselves to be. I think it’s nonsense to advertise his face. Take it down please
DeleteI definitely say keep it up!! He's still part of the family!
DeleteGirls you sisters were done wrong and I'm appall4 that no one stood up for you girls like they should have. Please know we love you out here and it wasn't your fault what josh did. Justice was served and I pray God's richest blessings upon you and your families. God loves you all.
ReplyDeleteLong-time viewers want to talk about this. Where are the comments?
ReplyDeleteWas the computer new, or used? If it was old did he powerwash the computer so it would be free from information from a previous owner? It is hard for me to believe Josh did this. :(
ReplyDeleteSorry it's hard for you to believe but Josh did this. If it was an old computer I believe he's savvy enough to know how to clean the boards.
DeleteJosh's computer was thoroughly checked by HIS defense team and had none of the things you suggest that could have exonerated him. He's simply guilty of the charges against him.
DeleteReally?
DeleteThey had proof because they said you can see his reflection in the computer. He took pictures of the computer with his phone.
DeleteThe court case showed exactly when the partitioned side of the computer was set up, when the files were downloaded, and when Josh was at the car lot at the same time. What was on the computer was not there to begin with. I don't know why it would be so hard to believe that Josh would do this.
DeleteClearly you did not follow the trial closely. The evidence against Josh cannot be rationally argued against. He was found guilty by the jury because the evidence against him was so strong. He did it.
DeleteThe outcome for Anna...being without a husband to support her and her multitude of children should make every woman (especially in this belief system) stand up and take notice. I would be scared to death to possibly lose my husband...it can be death, divorce, whatever...and be left with no skills, job history or means of financial support. These women and girls need to have a real education and work experience in the real world...diplomas that actually are accredited and mean something...They are all in the same boat, really, sailing along in life without any lifeboats attached to their ship. Take notice ladies!!!
ReplyDeleteAnna will be fine-Jim bob and Michelle will financially support her. It would be a serious public relations hit if they did not.
DeleteYou don't know what kind of education she had though other then if you look at her history, she did go to a college. She was not raised in the Duggar home. Homeschool is actually top notch compared to public schools. You get that one-on-one time that really helps kids improve and colleges love homeschool kids btw. They accept all diplomas too - meaning even if you did homeschool without a program and went by your own. I don't think it's fair for you to judge women who decided to be at home wives and mothers. The same goes for men that decide to be at home husbands and fathers. Yes, things happen where you have no other choice to work but that's their business.
DeleteThese women have parents, in-laws and friends who will help them. Anna is not going to be left to fend for herself. Her parents, siblings, in-laws and community will help her. Anna does have skills. One does not need to go to college or university to acquire skills that will enable one to get employment. I know plenty of people who since June 2020 are unemployed because the job skills they cultivated involved post-secondary education. The ones who have the more traditional skills are the ones who are still employed or managed to find work during the Pandemic.
DeleteAmen! This is 2021 Ladies
DeleteI completely agree with 7:44 and 4:19. Every woman needs some degree of higher education and/or job training just in case they find themselves in situations like this one. They should not rely on anyone to support them!
DeleteThere is not a woman in this world that should have to rely on a man to support her.
DeleteThis is indeed a sad situation. My prayers are with Anna and the children.
ReplyDeleteMy prayers are for all the victims in this. Also, hopefully Anna will find the strength to get herself a good divorce lawyer. She and her children deserve a lot better in life.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteTheir statement still doesn't acknowledge the harm that was done to their daughters.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for the entire Duggar family, but especially so for Anna. And her children. They have a hard road ahead. She is now a "prison wife". And forced to provide for her children and make family decisions on her own. She reminds me a bit of Dory Hofman. Who stood by her husband as well. Til, well - other things happened which are not likely to happen with Josh. Different situations, but similar, if that makes sense. I know what Dory Hofman wound up doing. Anna has more family support than Dory ever had. But - Dory had to face the people who could NOT believe she didn't know what was happening. As will Anna. Dory had to make decisions for her kids and their lives moving forward on her own, as will Anna. Dory believed in her husband, til she couldn't anymore. Not sure if Anna will get there, but in the meanwhile she will have to face life without her husband and his financial support or his input on the kids. She though can turn to her parents, siblings and in-laws for emotional support. But, how to keep the kids fed and clothed?? Her sister in-laws bring in money by their YouTube channels, and their endorsements on the modest clothing lines. Anna won't be able to do that due to the nature of Josh's crimes. She won't have sponsors. Jim-Bob and Michelle will have some limits on what they can offer, now that they are exposed. Anna may have to go on welfare. She has no job history. 7 kids to raise. And even if Jim-Bob and Michelle allow them to stay in the warehouse, she still has to feed and clothe those kids. I hope she has enough money in the bank to take some time and think this through. And I hope she has someone to talk things through with who will be truthful with her
ReplyDeleteWho is Dory Hofman?
DeleteSo sad for the family, especially Anna and the children. I hope they can put this behind them and move on with their lives.
ReplyDeleteThe only way for Anna to move on is accepting who and what her husband is. Yes it is difficult but my daughter did it. Those children are going to need a lot of help and counseling when they realize what their father is. My grandchildren are in counseling and it does help. But according to reports I've read online Anna doesn't think he has done anything wrong. She doesn't believe it. So she is not going to be protecting those children from him. My ex son-in-law cannot have any contact with minor children including his own and I thank God for that. If Anna can't come to grips with what he is and is willing to let her children to have contact with him that is a form of child abuse and I pray someone steps in if that happens.
DeleteIn a criminal trial, the defendant's guilt or innocence is not what is tried. The evidence is tried. If it proves the defendant guilty, that is the verdict. It's all based on the evidence folks. A very good good titled "The Evidence Doesn't Lie" is a good read for anyone interested.
ReplyDelete
