Fall is quickly approaching, which means that it's time for the Duggars to take a trip to Farmland Adventures. Do you remember the episode that aired in February 2012, "Duggars Planning the Future," when the entire clan visited the farm? We also posted pictures of the Duggars' visit on Labor Day 2017. It seems to be a favorite family activity for Labor Day weekend.
A big group of Duggars just met up at Farmland Adventures, so we thought we would share this group picture. Can you name everyone?

ReplyDeleteI wish the farm by my house was still open. Due to the pandemic it got put under. The week after labor day my family and I go apple picking and make apple cider. We go horseback riding and hiking.

ReplyDeleteI go with my church ever year out to the pumpkin patch and we have a campfire. Last year was the first year we didn't go due to the pandemic. I am hoping to go with my family this year.
ReplyDeleteMy family and I love Farmland Adventures. It's the only place we buy ground beef from and it never messes with my stomach like the stuff you get from the market and meat shops. I love their homemade cakes, breads and cookies too!😋

DeleteI always try to go back to farmland every time I go back home to visit family. My husband loves it too. Next time I'll be carrying a little one with me. I can't wait to go back next year.

ReplyDeleteLooks like Jed and Katie have had their baby already,lol,Joe must be taking the photo so got Jed to hold Brooklyn,I can see a pink dress so baby must be her, also I've noticed Josh's kids are looking very happy, they must be totally oblivious to what's happening thinking he's gone to the same place he went to in 2015,thinking he will soon return home for good, how will they explain to them if he goes down, especially when they bring them to visit him in prison, I presume they will deny that is a prison, but they will find out eventually as they get older, everything not just that the place he is in is a prison, poor kids.

ReplyDeleteYeah I lost a shoe out there somehow. The workers was nice enough to help me look and even gave me a pair of their boots so I could continue you on easy in the pumpkin patch lol. I still never found it.

DeleteYes I remember the episode where Michelle was having contractions at the farmland. Jim bob and Michelle Duggar lost their 20th baby just all of sudden and Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar called a family meeting to suggest the baby's name ended up to be Jubilee Shalom Duggar. yes everyone had fun at the farmland and even Spurgeon at just 22 mouths old and yes some of his cousins & aunt's & uncle's had fun. now I remember the two shows very clear now that I read about them but in other words I would love ♥️ for another spin off of the Duggars and the extended family members. I am praying for this to hopefully happen sometime in the future. I would be very excited ❣️ for that and it would make me very happy 😁 & make my day.

Delete2:39, you don't have to wear leggings. You can also get active wear skirts that have shorts built in. I have some like that and they're nice and cool. It just feels like wearing shorts.
DeleteWearing pants or a skirt should be a personal choice for women. Parents obviously have the right to make rules for their children, but equating man-made "modesty" rules to the Bible or to Christianity is what's wrong. The Bible does not prohibit women from wearing pants, nor men from wearing skirts (Scottish men wear kilts); the prohibition is on impersonating the opposite sex.
DeleteWell, the Bible actually does talk about women dressing modestly in I Timothy 2:9. A family or institution that wants to be in obedience to the Bible has to draw the line for modesty somewhere since the Bible doesn't spell it out. So, yeah, if you're going to set a guideline it has to be "man-made."

And on the subject of modesty -- frankly, sometimes I wish men would wear skirts, with some of the tight pants men wear nowadays. Why doesn't anyone talk about that?
Delete2:39, that is exactly what I said. It is man-made. If a family is going to have a family value of being "modest," they HAVE to decide what that means for their family, BECAUSE the Bible doesn't spell it out.
DeleteReligion is man made. It's about the relationship with God. In fact if you read the bible God hated all religions because it was man made. Google it and it will take you to the verse. Modesty actually applies for both men and women btw. And I laugh when certain cult churches says a man can't wear a skirt because technically back in the old days, the guys was wearing gowns so....

ReplyDeleteActually walking around a farm without shoes is not dangerous at all, if anything it's the safest. I did it growing up and even as a adult. I'm not sure what kind of farms you been around. But judging by people's experiences there it's actually common to lose shoes lol. There's grassy areas that are bumpy. Easy to trip or get knocked out of your shoes.
DeleteI disagree, 5:19. A lot of things were did while growing up were not safe at all. How many of us had a trip to the ER or had a friend who ended up there because of something we did while playing? Farms are dangerous places to go barefoot due to the nature of the materials used on farms (sharp metals, wires, nails, etc.) and the animal waste. You can easily get a puncture wound, a bad infection, or tetanus. You're also potentially exposing your feet to fertilizers and toxic herbicides, some of which can be absorbed through the skin. You can get stepped on by an animal. A horse or cow hoof can crush a child's foot easily and severely damage an adult's foot. For all those reasons, I have to agree with the poster or posters who don't think it's a good idea for the child in the photo to be without shoes. If the terrain is bumpy, then shoes that tie like sneakers or hiking shoes should be worn. Actually, I'm surprised that the facility would allow a child to be barefoot. Seems like an insurance issue for them and I wonder if that info is posted as you enter. You know, the basic "No shoes, no shirt, no service" sign.
Delete@5:19 Parasites, such as hookworm, can be acquired by going barefoot on contaminated soil. (Animals leave behind the larvae, which is in their feces.) You an also be exposed to bacterial and fungal diseases. Also, there's the possibility of stepping on a nail or other sharp object. Wearing shoes outdoors is a good idea.
DeleteFarms are not safe for bare feet. Yikes. My friend who's a veterinarian told me that he saw a person get tetanus on a pig farm after getting cut on a fence. I hope the farm the Duggars visited told them to put that child's shoes back on.
DeleteAs someone that grew up on a farm and got hurt, scrapes and bruises I never got parasites or infections. When I moved to the city for college my clumsy self fell and got a nasty infection in my knee. So yeah clearly you guys never grew up on a farm and the only way its dangerous if you don't properly care for it and the animals.

DeleteNo professional working farm would have wires and sharp objects around for people to step on. If they do they need to be shut down. My grandfather has a farm and is well kept. You can get in a lot of trouble and even shut down for not having a cleaned farm that can be both hazardous for humans and animals.

DeleteLet's put this debate to rest. Farmland Adventures wants you and your children to wear shoes. Their website says so. They tell you to pay particular attention to your footwear. They tell you there's a good chance you'll get dirty, so you are supposed to choose your shoes wisely. They remind you that you're visiting a working farm and tell you to choose sneakers or hiking boots for your children. Nowhere does it say to let your children take their shoes off and run around in bare feet.
Delete10:04 I grew up on a farm. My parents insisted we wear shoes outdoors. Well care-for farm animals are one thing, but there are also wild animals that can leave their feces on the ground that contain worm larva. Even domestic pets can become infected.
DeleteI just love the horrors of walking around on a farm barefoot comments. Thank you experienced farm people who know what you're talking about. We went to a similar farm in California when my daughters were little. Never got a cooties or anything like that by being barefoot.
DeleteEvery commercial farm venture/tourist site can follow all the rules...but you can't guarantee that all of your visitors will follow all the rules all the time (it's called human nature). That means there may in fact be small pieces of glass or metal on the ground any time at any attraction. Just be smart, be safe = wear your shoes and make sure your kiddos do. Easy enough.

I never in my life went to a farm where I'm from where I can't walk barefoot. Delete@3:27 Dropping a screw or a nail around a farm is no reason to have it closed down. If it was, everyone's yard would have to be inspected before anyone was allowed in it. Ever have a roof put on? You'll find rusty nails for years after. Having animal waste on your shoes is not a reason to shut down a farm either. I don't know how you'd expect anyone to work with farm animals without coming in contact with waste. You have to muck out horse stalls and clean up after cows, pigs, sheep, goats, ducks, geese... Comes with the territory. None of those animals are housetrained. But there's no need to report anything like that. You do need to put shoes on though. Steel-toed, if you're working with farm machinery and tools or an animal that could step on your foot. You have to wear hooves, if you're an animal.

Delete5:30 - I think you're confusing farm "sanitation" with the physical dangers present on any farm. You can follow all the barn sanitation practices there are but still have rusty nails, broken wood, or a chuckhole somewhere around the farm. Keeping your farm cleaned up doesn't always help with injury matters. You're still dealing with heavy machinery, uneven land, grain silos, large animals, exposure to elements, exposure to chemicals, and so on. You can only "clean up" farming so much. There will still be dangers involved. Farming can be more dangerous than being in the military when it comes to numbers of accidents and deaths.

DeleteIf you have a farm in my state that you are profiting from you have to keep it spotless. Maybe farms back in the old days was messy and not kept well but you get a visit from inspection, guess what? You are getting shut down until you fix the problems, clean up every little bit on your property, no matter how many acres. And you may get your live stock taken away which I hope you do.

Farmers don't have to worry about snipers like my child has had to. Or the time my husband's supply truck was lifted and flipped during anexplosion in Desert Storm. Not to mention the chemical warfare they went through. Just to give a small example of how safe military life is. Not to mention grieving family members for the loss of their loved ones, esp recently with that mess in Afganistan. I don't think you realize just what they go through even in basic training. My child had to go through tasing. Had to go through mild torture simulating capture by the enemy. Yeah. The military is safer than a farm.

Might be missing 2 or 3 more kids,but not sure. Hope Anna is feeling ok. And Jana and the others who went with her are probably still traveling from seeing Jinger in California. And of course James and Claire live in Texas now. And sadly,the rift with Jill and Derek seems to still be going on with Jim Bob and Michelle. Hope to see ALL the Duggar family together again at Christmas,no matter what happens. Praying for them all.
ReplyDelete@9:47 Conflicts aside, it would be very difficult for any family of this size to all get together at the same time. This can be hard with smaller families, too, as you add in-laws to the mix and distances between them.
