Duggars on a Road Trip

Do you remember watching "On the Road with 16 Children" back in 2006? The special followed the Duggars as they traveled cross-country with their big family. Fifteen years later, Jim Bob and Michelle are on another road trip. This time, they're with their six youngest. Fun fact: Only two of these kids were on the trip back in 2006.

  1. I love road trips. It is always so much fun exploring and seeing new things. Travelin in the fall is my favorite time, less crowed and not so hot. Safe travels Duggar family!

  2. I am so happy to see that the Duggars are still taking family road trips. It is a fun and educational time for family bonding. Many of our best memories are from family vacations. And we still love to travel now with grandchildren as well as our adult children. It’s more difficult to arrange a time when most everyone can go, but totally worth it! I know it must be a difficult time for Jim Bob and Michelle, and it would be tempting to just stay home. But I’m glad they made time for this group of kids. Good for you, Duggar Parents.

  3. Why are they in South Dakota? Anyone who follows them closer know?

    1. The entry says "road trip", so I am assuming they are simply there to visit/show their younger kids some national parks...

    2. To see Mt. Rushmore?

    3. South Dakota is a great place for a road trip. Besides Mt Rushmore, there’s tithe Crazy Horse memorial, Deadwood, Rapid City and the gorgeous Black Hills. There’s the Badlands National Park, Wall(&Wall Drugstore complex), the Corn Palace in Mitchell, & on& on!! DD has grown as a great tourist and camping destination since the pandemic started.

  4. Have a fun and safe trip! Johanna is a beauty. She favors Jinger a lot, to me. Tyler has certainly matured all of a sudden it seems. He looks more mature than Jackson. They are all growing up so fast. All the Duggar girls are beauties. I hope they have a nice trip.

  5. I'm surprised they'd go to a national park. There are mask requirements there, indoors and out.

    3. You have to mask outdoors in a national park? Even if there's no one around?

      Delete
    4. 3:25 Covid was a thing long before anyone was massed at the border, remember? That park has a mask mandate, simple.

      Delete
    5. Unfortunately, South Dakota has never had any mask mandate.

      Delete
    6. The park has a mandate @4:35. All national parks do.

      Delete
    7. I was there this summer didn't see a single mask at all, even inside the mnt. Rushmore visiting center.

      Delete
    8. The Covid numbers were different during the June/July summer months. Lots of mask mandates didn't go into effect until the numbers started climbing in late July and into August. When the numbers went up, it then took a few weeks for the mandates to begin again. My town had a mandate, then they dropped it in May, then they had to start it again in late August because the case numbers went in the wrong direction over the summer.

      Delete
    9. @9:58 is right - the national park mask mandate went into effect on August 16th.

I hope they will be filming the 2021 road trip Duggar family members and extended family members will be filming new seasons with a new spin off back on cable tv sometime in the future. The fans and I will be very excited ❣️ and happy 😊 my parents and I really love♥️ the Duggars and extended family members we can't wait to see everyone. Natasha b

  23. It is nice to see how many kids start their own life and fewer kids stay at home. Life is moving forward! And I love the close contart they have with JB and Michelle even after moving out. However, I cannot help but notice males properly dresses on the picture, ready for the road and females look as a bunch of refugees woken up in the midlle of the night and grabbing whatever was close by. Sandals!!! All the girls look cold and uncomfortable.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think you are viewing something else because there is nothing wrong with their clothing.

      Delete
    2. Sandals can be passed down easier than shoes. This works withCrocs too. It’s probably a way to save money. So don’t buy your kids shoes even if you are a multi-millionaire.

      Delete
    3. 6:32 That's the way a lot of southerners do. Wear flip flops/sandals all yr long. My sons used to until they moved to states with snow. When they come back for visits, they break out the flip flops.

      Delete
    4. I just assumed sandals on a road trip were a lot easier to take off while you're riding and throw on when you want to jump out for a quick scenic stop and family pic. :)

      Delete
    5. 4:22 so? they live in different states? Males in the North, females in the South?

      Delete
    6. They are not in the South 4:22

      Delete
    7. People all over the world wear sandals in many seasons of the year. It's not just a Southetn thang LOL!

      Delete
    8. My adult daughter wears flip flops all year long unless it's snowing and we don't live in the south.

      Delete
    9. Sandals year- round is not just a southern thing. I live in snow country where temps regularly plummet to well below zero. I see school kids, teens, and adults sporting beachwear all winter long.

      Delete
    10. Jesus wore sandals summer, winter, while on vacation...

      Delete
    11. @10:00 Huh? He lived in the middle east where winter is non-existent.

      Delete
    12. @3:00 The weather in the Middle East can get quite cold, depending on season and elevation. They also have "winter" there, as in the period between the winter solstice and the spring equinox.

      Delete
    13. @3:00 I was thinking the same thing. Wearing sandals in the winter is not just a southern thing. They do it up north too. But, the obvious question has to be don't your feet get cold?Even in the south in the winter it gets chilly. Maybe they're just getting ready for when they're older and married, keep them barefoot and pregnant.......

      Delete
    14. 6:33, that's barefoot and pregnant, not sandaled and pregnant.

      Delete
    15. @9:33 I know, but wearing sandals and flip flops are as close as you can get to barefoot.

      Delete
    16. @7:11 You definition of "cold" is not mine. Jerusalem's typically "cold" temperatures in December and January vary from a low of 41F to a high of 59F. That is not cold! Cold is -20 to -30F. And I do not need a lesson on the seasons. Winter is a term used ALSO to describe very cold weather. And the area when Jesus lived DOES NOT have very cold weather.

    ReplyDelete
  27. It's nice to see them on vacation. With all the stress on the family at this time, they need to relax and have some fun. @6:32 I have to agree with the way they are dressed. Those girls do look like refugees. They should have pants on like normal kids. @6:32 Tyler is a part of their family now , why would you not include him as one of their children? They are raising him, providing for him. I have a step grandson and when I introduce him I say my grandson, not my step grandson.

    1. They look like they are casually dressed, not like refugees. Good grief.

    2. Yeah -- for whatever the reason, it's strange to see the girls in puffer coats and bare legs, sandals.

      Delete
    3. 5:25 that's the way a lot of southerners are. Some teen girls continue to wear shorts with jackets. A lot of teen boys stay with short sleeves, shorts & flipflops. It's weird, but they do.

      Delete
    4. Not really strange. Their older sisters favored sandals too.

      Delete
    5. To 4:27 PM, they aren't in the south

      Delete
    6. @5:25 they do in the north also. It's just crazy tho, the boys are properly dressed and girls arent.

      Delete
    7. 12:43, a Southerner is a Southerner no matter where they are. Just like a Northerner isn't suddenly going to say y'all and drink sweet tea and eat grits just because they take a trip to Alabama (I mean, they might, but being in the south for a visit doesn't mean they'll change).

      Delete
    8. 12:43 - she said that's how southerners are, not that's how they dress in the south. A southerner in South Dakota is still a southerner.

      Delete
    9. I am from the south and even when I visit family up in the north, guess what? You'll be catching me wearing sandals below 40 degrees with a jacket lol. That's just how we do.

      Delete
    10. To 12:43 PM, they are however, southern, so their clothing styles will reflect that, whether they are in the North, South, East, West, Midwest.

      Delete
    11. I am a Southerner, born and bred, and have lived in the south my entire life. I wore some dress sandals as a girl, but was never allowed to wear flip flops and didn't have any until I was an adult. Now, I love them, but they are not appropriate to wear just anywhere, and I certsinly wouldn't wear them in the cold! That's just not smart or comfortable.

    1. They've inspired me to let my kids date whomever they choose without my input; go to college wherever and whenever they want; pursue whatever careers they want; have as few kids as they want (or none); get married or not. In other words, everything that's missing in a Duggar kid's life. So yes, it was a helpful show.

      Delete
    2. Aww, love your comment, Pam! The Duggars have inspired me greatly, too, through the years. I am very thankful for them, and for the Bates family. Sending up prayers for you and your family, too!

    3. 4:33 I agree that they have not been inspirational to me even though I have watched their shows and read this blog. I'd rather find inspiration from people I know and can actually witness in real life not reality tv that is scripted. But the Lord can use anyone or anything He wants to help others. He knows each person and what they need.

      Delete
    4. @4:33 have to agree, they weren't inspirational to me, they were interesting to watch on tv. I did watch 19 kids and counting, but not counting on. My daughter got me watching the show when she moved back home after her divorce. For me it was about having so many kids in this day and age. It was interesting to see their interpretation of the Bible. Also, on tv you see what they wanted you to see and not necessarily their real lives. We saw their brand.

      Delete
    5. @11:49 These reality shows have basically showed me one thing: Don't exploit your family on TV. The cost is too great. Whatever Christian message the Duggars may have been trying to give was long ago lost for obvious reasons. Being vulnerable to having your dirty laundry aired in the news and exposing your kids to the slings and arrows of public media in any form is, IMO, not good parenting by any stretch of the imagination. I don't care what your religion happens to be. There's something to be said for remaining "anonymous."

      Delete
    6. They have been inspirationalto me in some ways - to take time to enjoy your kids and spend time with them while you have them, to be intentional about teaching them, to value family. Obviously they made some mistakes (and so does everyone) and you wouldn't want to mimic everything they've done, but I've picked up some good ideas over the years of watching them.

      Delete
    7. 4:33 -- If you disagree with so much about the Duggars, why are you even on this website? Honest question.

      Delete
    8. @4:58 I don't know anyone's motivation to be here nor would I question it because this is the internet and anyone can find any kind of websites, no big deal. Bear in mind that there were a lot of viewers who at first thought that watching a big family cope with housework and childcare was interesting. Some also watched thinking it can't be true that such a big family is so perfectly happy or operates so smoothly. Long-time viewers watched as things happened and of course opinions naturally shifted. That should not be a surprise. I can see how people could eventually watch the Duggars and think wow, that is not how to raise children, glad I don't do it their way, but they keep watching anyway. You can't see that?

    5. 5:20, you can do the research yourself by looking in the comments of this blog, going back years.

      Delete
    6. @ 1:08- FYI, I've been a reader and poster here for years, thank you. I've seen a lot of people on this blog claim that people are making up stuff up about the Duggars-insterestingly enough, the majority of those type comments follow when the press has broken a story about the Duggars that has turned out to be true- the molestation, the Ashley Madison affair, and now this. Yes, people here are indeed regularly speculating on who's pregnant, courting, engaged, or getting married. But there's a certain subset of people here who cannot allow the hard truths about the Duggars to be true, even when they are indeed true (complete with proof-police reports, lawsuits, arrest warrants, and court hearings). Presenting a false image is a form of lying and deception, according to God. I have less tolerance when it's coming from someone claiming to know or follow Christ. As for research, that's exactly what I do in real life...and I'm quite experienced at it. If I comment here, I've already done my homework and I can (and do) back my statements with facts (and links when appropriate). So, back to the question, what are people making up about the Duggars (as it pertains to this situation)?

    2. Acknowledging their anniversary I'm light of what's going on with Josh right now seems a little cruel to Anna.

      Delete
    4. They still deserve to have a post here like all the married Duggar siblings get.

      Delete
    5. Given the situation, in my opinion, it's wiser not to publicly acknowledge their anniversary. It would only attract more attention and generate notoriety. Publicly celebrating the anniversary in the midst of such serious federal charges would not only be perceived as arrogant and mocking (not to mention that there's a potential jury pool to consider), but also may be rubbing salt in the wound if the charges do turn out to be true.
