What? I thought it was in April! Just like Joy's wedding, it just suddenly happens and we're all so surprised. Congrats Justin and Claire. Very nice news.
The Duggars use fake dates on their registries for privacy reasons. They’ve done it ever since the paparazzi crashed Jinger’s wedding. Joy put her birthday in her registry, John did as well, others just wrote random dates.
I wish them the best! I am sad that due to Covid TLC may have chosen not to film the wedding but maybe we will get home videos at least. I am very happy for them and sure they had a great wedding.
Time 12:40AM Sat 2/27/21 Congrats to Justin & Claire. Also for those who don't know Congrats to Anna Duggars brother Nathan Keller & His wife Nurie Who are excepting their first child In October of this year & Congrats To Joe & Kendra of the birth of Their daughter Brooklyn. Congrats To Ben & Jessa Seewald who will Be excepting their 4the child soon Have a great Sat morning.
Congratulation,Claire turns 20 tomorrow so just in time so the announcement on the press can read 18 and 19 year olds, that's not as much of a shock as a two year age difference the wrong way round, lol, yet I see celebrities with enormous age differences like over 20 years and nobody bats an eyelid or says a thing, weird that, ha because it's the right way around he's older,as for people criticizing Justin for marrying at 18,Ben was just one year old when he got married, I mean if they feel they are ready for a lifetime of commitment and sacrifice who are we to judge them, I mean if he married a couple of years later what difference would it make would he really change that much in two years, he's a hard working man now too, he's probably working for Spivey construction, and if not I doubt he married jobless, even if he's just selling cars at the family business he's still bringing food to the table and that's all that matters.
I know they are considered young according to today's standards but to be honest I think God for young people who want to enter the marriage covenant. They went to be husbands and wives have children. That is how God designed the family. I pray for many Blessings over their marriage. Congratulations!
I know many people get married young but this is so sad. They never have a chance to find out who they are of if they even want marriage. We can become different people as we age into adulthood.
What makes me sad is that it seems like marriage is the only way they can have some freedom and make their own choices. Marriage shouldn’t be what gives you that option, they should be able to make those choices once they turn 18, even if they’re not married.
Not them, that's all they know, it's the norm for fundamental families, I grew up in the countryside in Italy and have various relatives and neighbors that married young some even in their teens, and until recently too, it might seem weird for Americans to marry young but it's quite normal in my country although city people not as much as country people.
Believe it or not some of us know we want to marry young for years prior. People also can change for many reasons in life but commitment to each other can stay through it all. 18 years married after young marriage and wouldn’t change a thing.
Believe it or not you can grow with your spouse. I have been with my husband for 8 years (since we were 17) and we have grown and changed as people but we accept and love who the other is. Growing as a person will happen at any stage in life and it is very possible to do that along side a spouse no mater the age.
Truth, Truthie! They're at the beginning of their lives together and I'm sure having the time of their lives. Honestly, with the direction this country is going, I don't blame them for not waiting.
Not sure helping encourage your mom during labor or helping take care of a baby sibling is quite the same as actually physically birthing a baby yourself. Unfortunately, it's just a well-documented fact of life (human growth and development and adolescent psychology) that we all tend to think we're more mature at 18-24 than we actually are...and we realize that somewhere around 35-45. ;) Hopefully, things will go well for them.
I agree. There are many more flattering photos of them. They are a very lovely couple, but in many selfies, people are too close and expressions not as good.
Jessa’s engagement was the shortest. She got engaged the middle of August and got married the beginning of November. The Duggar engagements are short. Josh and Anna were engaged in June and married in September. Jill and Derick were engaged in March and married in June. Jinger and Jeremy were engaged in July and married the beginning of November. And the list goes on. Their engagements are short, and that’s wise. No need to be engaged longer than needed to plan a wedding.
Wait, "dating on and off for about 2 years"??? First, I thought they didn't "date" and second, that means if he was hanging out with her, the intention to court and marry was there from when he was about 15 or 16. Who lets their teen that age think or do such things?
Reply to Anon 3:02 pm 1 March. "Who lets their teen that age think or do such things?" Ok, my cousin met his wife when they were 14 years old. Within a year, she had her favourite girl name chosen and what season for their wedding. They waited until they were 21 years old and are now in their 40s. In fact, her parents did not agree to the wedding at all and wanted her to date lots of guys and just have fun. She knew and he knew and that's not anything parents can control.
2:10 It is OK to be funny and goofy at times. But it is not the best picture of them. I do think that of all the pictures of them, there would have been better and more appropriate ones to announce a wedding.
That was so to be expected! Clare's birthday is February 27th, so they got married when she still was 19, and Justin is 18, so it does not look like a bigger age difference! And also quite cute - they got engaged on Justinb's birthday and got married a day before Clare's birthday! Congratulations!
I wish them only the best. However, I am not convinced that ANYONE is ready make a lifelong committment to marriage at that young age. Sure, it's possible it can work out. However, waiting a few years shouldn't be an issue if it's the real deal. Women do themselves a huge favor by having some work experience and independence before settling down. Relying on a man to support you indefinitely is an unrealistic expectation. Life can turn on a dime.
Agreed. My husband died unexpectedly at 47. Thank God I was able to go back to work due to having a nursing degree from before I got married. Everyone in this day and age should have some kind of skill to provide for themselves unless they are disabled. I guess some people just want to stick their heads in the sand and think “that won’t ever happen to me.” And then the taxpayers have to support them.
@7:06 I had a relative who went to college after marriage and children, and it didn't work out fine. One of the children in particular had enormous difficulty with it.
@7:06 It depends on what you studied in college. Some programs require a time commitment that is not compatible with raising a family. They require more than taking a few courses and passing a few tests.
And how about the financial drain? I know the moms of two families who went back to school. Sure, they had new careers but also huge student debts which their incomes barely covered. Both ended up divorced, their poor husbands struggling to make ends meet. Their children ended up in worse financial state than they were and are still struggling in their 30s.
If you are going to do something, do not do it by half-measures. As I told my children, stand on your own two feet financially before you take on the responsibility of a family. Finish your education first. Then you will be in a better position to chose a spouse, with your eyes wide open.
Better to wait and get to know the person before you marry. It might not sound very romantic but marriage is too important a step to base it on hormones.
Congrats to Claire & Justin! Honestly, I'm a bit surprised that it was this soon, mostly because I didn't think that TLC would want to film a large gathering right now. It'll be interesting to see how the storm & power outages affected their wedding. Also curious to see if they had a full Duggar-sized wedding or if they reduced the guest list because of COVID. I got married last July, so I also had a COVID wedding. We also had a short engagement (3.5 months), so from the start we planned the event to fit within our local COVID guidelines. I hope that Claire & Justin did the same (though I guess I don't know what the guidelines are in Texas, or if there even are any).
Mine was headed to college and grad school with 2 full scholarships. Be glad he was - he's responsible for bringing you features you and the rest of the world use every day on your phones and online. I'm prouder of him for doing that than I would have been if he had gotten engaged at 17 and married at 18.
@9:53,no you think he is,if his or her parents thought that they would not have allowed them to marry, they have taught their children to be responsible from an early age just like they were and that's why their marriage worked, Justin has been helping with family business remodeling houses J B bought to resell and even worked for Claire's father in his construction business probably still working there so has a permanent job, so he has no longing to play video games or football with friends, he's working and supporting his future family,I mean do you see his siblings miserable in their marriage , who by the way married just a couple of years older than him, being married isn't all work and no fun it can be both, do you realised years ago this was the norm and people were responsible and that's most marriages lasted.
What kind of parental system is it when you make your (unlicensed) teen son remodel your investment houses or work in your construction business instead of enjoying time for football or video games with friends? I would have rebelled if I were him. I would have insisted on having a life of my own and an education beyond high school.
To everyone saying that his parents wouldn’t have let him get married if they didn’t think he was ready, are you some of the same ones always saying that the Duggar children are allowed to do what they want? Such as going to college, moving into their own apartments, going to Wal-Mart without a chaperone?
Time 9:00PM Sat 2/27/21 For those of u that don't know is today Is Claire Duggars birhday she is now 20 has the same birthday as my older Brother. Happy birthday Claire HOPE Justin got u a new necklace. ❤❤❤❤❤🎂🎂🎂🧁🍰
Congratulations Claire and Justin! Have a wonderful life together! Remember Jim Bob and Ben were 19 when they got married to Michelle and Jessa, not everyone has to wait to a certain age. I met my husband at 19, but waited 7 years to get married. Still togehter 35 years later.
Yep, I got married 2 weeks after my 18th birthday, it hasn’t been easy, but now we’ve been married 24 years, have 3 kids and 3 grandkids. It takes a lot of work, and patience, but I always got irritated when people told me I was too young to get married. It’s like when you find that special person, you just know.
Congratulations to Justin & Claire hope they have a wonderful future together. My husband and I married young he 20 and I 19. That was almost 32 yrs ago.
Congratulations Justin & Claire Duggar. I'm so 😀 happy for you guys. I love the pictures of you both. I can't wait to see what God has in store for your future. I hope you both have a beautiful honeymoon. I can't wait to hear about the courtship & see the engagement & wedding & honeymoon on season 12 of counting on. Natasha b
They use place holder dates on their registries! If you look back on previous weddings, we usually don’t find out the date until the couple is already married. The standard Duggar engagement is 3 months and Justin and Claire’s lasted exactly that long.
Congratulations to this very young couple. They look younger than some of the secondary school kids my 22 year old daughter teaches. Neither of my adult kids seem ready to commit to marriage & they are 25 & almost 23 & both are in long term 4year plus relationships & they have only ever had the one partner. I hope this young couple are sufficiently mature enough to cope with all the challenges marriage has in store for them.
3:04 It's not too long if they're working on being financially sound before committing to marriage. At 23 and 25, they're barely out of college. My son and DIL were high school sweethearts. They waited until they both had their degrees and had good jobs before they married at 24.
Four years is a long time to still not know if that is the person for you. Dr Phil says if you are not married within three years, then something is wrong. Your kids have commitment problems.
We've seen enough failed marriages in our extended families/friend circles/Churches to really invest time in getting to know that person over a few years' worth of different situations. It's not that hard to keep up a pretense and put your best face forward for a year or two, when you're trying to win someone over (or their parents, best friend, friend circle, the pastor, etc.). It gets a little harder to carry on the front long-term, in many different situations, encountering all kinds of normal life challenges. Three-to five years isn't that long when you want to be sure for a lifetime. You're not just marrying a person; you're marrying all the baggage that person will bring into your marriage from his/her own family dynamic as well and vice-versa. Better eyes wide open than starry-eyed.
In my opinion, once you realize that this is the person you want to spend your life with, there is no need to wait years and years to get married. They are both adults, and should be allowed to make this decision. Years ago, almost everyone got married young and stayed committed to their marriage until one of them died.
yeah because laws have changed. it’s not because people are more loose about marriage now, it’s because women literally couldn’t survive if they weren’t married or even file for divorce if they wanted to. don’t chalk up their young marriage to being “more like the old days”
I truly hope that they wait awhile to have children. Enjoy each other and grow up more. At least they are to be congratulated on waiting for marriage and not becoming a statistic for having children out of wedlock!! Enjoy the honeymoon!!
I met and befriended my husband at 17, then dated him when I was 19 and 20. At 20 I felt ready to marry (although he hadn't asked), but I got cold feet and broke it off.
Fast forward to age 26, when we got back together after having both grown and changed on some of the aspects that had made me hesitate before. We got engaged at 27 and married at 28.
We wanted to start trying for children at age 30, but then I was sick for two years and we couldn't start until 32. We had our firstborn at 33 and are due with our second at 36. I would have loved five children, but I'll consider myself lucky if we manage four children given my age.
It's hard to say whether in retrospect we should have married earlier. On the one hand, we value the lessons we learned growing up and dating other people in our early twenties. On the other hand, we missed what could have been over half a decade with each other. And we missed the chance to have as many kids as we wanted at an easier, younger age. There's no going back, and I'm thankful I was able to marry the love of my life eventually, so I try not to dwell on what ifs.
But I don't begrudge anyone their early marriage. Sometimes you do meet a good match early, and sometimes you do feel ready to marry young: I trust my 20-year-old judgment when I knew I felt ready.
Don't you find it strange though how the Duggars seem to meet "the right one" in their late teens or early 20's? What are the odds, if it's not being actively encouraged by one or both sets of parents involved?
I'm sure that being encouraged/discouraged by parents and the surrounding culture does have a lot to do with whether you have your eyes open to evaluate your peers for marriage sooner vs. later. I certainly felt like dating was discouraged by my church when I was in high school, but I did it anyway and benefitted from it. It doesn't surprise me that being encouraged to find a mate sooner means the Duggars have largely found one sooner (with the exceptions of Jana and John-David). The odds of that also seem pretty good in the absence of any outside influence, given biology.
I hope Michelle is doing well. I wonder how it feels when your 14th child is married. I was also curious how she felt when Josie turned 10, no more buddies needed for young children. I am sure the grandbabies make a difference but surely there is a pang. I don't have biological children, I have adopted, but there is still a pang as I realize there will be no biological children.
My husband and I could never have bio kids. It seemed so devastating at the time when we were going through all the infertility tests and procedures. We went on to adopt two wonderful children who are now grown. Ever since they came home to us, there have been no pangs or yearnings for anything or anyone else.
A euphemism is something used to make an unpleasant or inappropriate thing sound better. Ties the knot is a figure of speech, which we're all allowed to use if we want.
@12:17 There are such a things as the internet, old newspapers, old magazines, and books. You can read 1940's reporting any time you want. Even more interesting is 1900's - 1920's reporting, when almost all news came via print (or the new thing, radio). Newspapers were often 40 pages or more, with very detailed and well-written reports. By the 1940's, reporters mostly went for attention-grabbing headlines.
Everyone has already mentioned how young and shared concerns but I say more power to them! With the all the craziness in the world today, who says how many tomorrows or next years we will have. Stop judging how other people choose to live. Live your best life and be as happy as possible doing so.
We hope Claire’s mother,Hillary, can make many guest appearances on Counting On, including attending births. Michelle needs a break. She is a beautiful, loyal mom who attends births of her daughters and daughters in law. She helps them breathe in and out.
Are you serious? Michelle doesn't WANT a "break". She makes it very clear she intends to be front and center at every birth. She even traveled to California in the midst of the pandenic to be there when Jinger gave birth.
Congrats to the young couple. Every time I see that another Duggar gets married, and I see it’s not Jana, my heart hurts for her. She’s basically the unpaid Nanny for all her younger siblings! She’s so beautiful, inside and out, and has so many talents. I pray that GOD will open the path for her to follow to her soul mate very soon. She deserves that! I met my future husband, and married him 7mo later! So, the time frame was: *met late July 1989 *Started dating early August 1989 (he finished His stint in the navy) *Secretly got engaged October 10,1989 *Got married April 28, 1990. *We will be married 31yrs this coming April *We have 2 grown children *We have 5 grandchildren (ages:7,5,3,18mo, and 3mo) We were 24&26 when we married. We both had “some” life experiences under our belt. But, we grew up a lot, together. We’ve had to deal heavily on the “in sickness and in health”part of the vows because I was deemed “permanently disabled” 13yrs ago, having SLE lupus and RA. Some days, I’m good if I can even get out of the bed! My husband never gripes or whines when he has to help me with things, after he gets home from a full day at work. So... from a couple who didn’t know eachother very long before marrying, and about to celebrate 31 yrs,, if CAN BE DONE! Lean heavily on GOD! Lean heavily on eachother and NOT someone outside the marriage!! That is where trouble always begins! Yout spouse SHOULD always be your bestie as well as your spouse!
No thanks, I want a best friend, I want a spouse, and I want those two to be distinctly different, as they should be. They fill different roles. It doesn't mean you don't love your spouse, it means that friends and spouses are two separate things.
@9:29. If your spouse is not also your best friend, something is wrong. I have been married for over 35 years and share EVERYTHING with my spouse. He is my best friend.
@9:41 My spouse is not my best friend. A spouse is a completely different position. My best friend and I shared things since childhood and no spouse, no matter how much I love them, can go back in time and experience the things that my best friend experienced with me. Nor can my friend experience the things that my spouse and I have experienced. There is nothing wrong with keeping those two roles separate.

ReplyDeleteBaby by the end of the year, or close to it.
ReplyDeleteYep.
DeleteThat was oddly unexpected.
ReplyDeleteNot really....it was the day before she turned 20... A lot of people predicted that she would get married when she was still 19...

DeleteThere's nothing wrong with being set in your ways. It fosters independence.

ReplyDeleteJust one thing I can not understand , why could they wait a little longer ?
Why would they? They legally can wed and old enough so why wait if they want to?

ReplyDeleteAlmost forgot Jill will be a grandmother for the first time.
Talking about Jill Rodrigues.
Nuries mom.
Umm just wondering, Neddy, how this pertains to the Duggar family? Why do you keep mentioning another family on the Duggar's blog??? Jill
DeleteProbably because Anna is Nathan's sister. So some distant relation to Duggar news.
DeleteAt 3:00, true but most blog readers probably wouldn't know that and don't care.
Deletenot sure why any mother would allow her daughter to marry a eighteen year old. just to play house.
ReplyDeleteRude! It’s not to play house it’s to live a life. In US do 18 year olds go off to play war in your mind too?
DeleteIt's their culture. People do what people do in their own culture.
DeleteMe neither...

DeleteThey just keep getting younger and younger as they get married, here soon we’ll be hearing of Josie’s engagement
ReplyDeleteJohanna seems to be in love... I don't know if its mutual...
DeleteNot really. John David was one of the most recent to get married and he was older than their average.
DeleteJohanna? In love with who?? She's way too young!!!!!!!!
DeleteAnonymous @ 2:57 - that's called a crush. Teenage hormones generally lead to crushes. Being in love is totally different.
DeleteAll the best to the young couple
ReplyDeleteWow! Congrats to them. Can't wait to see pics from the wedding.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Justin and Claire!! God bless!!
ReplyDeleteThey should have taken Covid more concern. Not a big wedding with no protection.
ReplyDeleteFantastic she could have a baby with Christmas. The sooner the better.
ReplyDeleteThat would be so great!

ReplyDeleteI agree. There are many more flattering photos of them. They are a very lovely couple, but in many selfies, people are too close and expressions not as good.
DeleteThey have that look on their faces that Jill would often make on purpose. Goofy.
DeleteIs this the fastest engagement to wedding? If not, do you know who had the shortest engagement?
ReplyDeleteJessa’s engagement was the shortest. She got engaged the middle of August and got married the beginning of November. The Duggar engagements are short. Josh and Anna were engaged in June and married in September. Jill and Derick were engaged in March and married in June. Jinger and Jeremy were engaged in July and married the beginning of November. DeleteAnd how about the financial drain?
Good. With any luck one of his older brothers will get the idea and there will be a new courtship announced prior to their pregnancy announcement.
ReplyDeleteOne of the younger brothers could also get the idea.
DeleteCongrats to Claire & Justin!
ReplyDeleteThey live in Arkansas, not Texas, I believe!?
Delete9:16, the bride is from Texas.
DeleteTexas is probably correct.
DeleteBut a free house awaits in Ark.
DeleteDoes anyone else see the resemblance between these two? They could almost be twins. Just think they are too young. Is Justin even gainfully employed?
ReplyDeleteI think Claire looks a lot like Jana. Actually most of the Duggar wives could pass for Duggar sisters
DeleteYes. All but one.
DeleteEllie did you go to the wedding?
ReplyDeleteWho would go to Texas in bad weather. Most if the airports in Texas were close due to the strom
DeleteAny wedding pics?
ReplyDeleteIs it just me, or do they look like brother and sister? Even their face shape, eyes, nose, smile!
ReplyDeleteWishing them all the best. I can't imagine my 18 year old getting married, but hopefully Justin is a lot more mature than my son.
ReplyDeleteMy sons were definitely not ready for marriage at 18. Too much going on with band, JROTC, all the Sr year activities, etc.
DeleteHe thinks he is.
DeleteMine was headed to college and grad school with 2 full scholarships. Be glad he was - he's responsible for bringing you features you and the rest of the world use every day on your phones and online. I'm prouder of him for doing that than I would have been if he had gotten engaged at 17 and married at 18.
Delete@9:53,no you think he is,if his or her parents thought that they would not have allowed them to marry, they have taught their children to be responsible from an early age just like they were and that's why their marriage worked, Justin has been helping with family business remodeling houses J B bought to resell and even worked for Claire's father in his construction business probably still working there so has a permanent job, so he has no longing to play video games or football with friends, he's working and supporting his future family,I mean do you see his siblings miserable in their marriage , who by the way married just a couple of years older than him, being married isn't all work and no fun it can be both, do you realised years ago this was the norm and people were responsible and that's most marriages lasted.
DeleteTheir parents must have thought he was too, or they wouldn't have let them get married.
DeleteWhat kind of parental system is it when you make your (unlicensed) teen son remodel your investment houses or work in your construction business instead of enjoying time for football or video games with friends? I would have rebelled if I were him. I would have insisted on having a life of my own and an education beyond high school.
Delete9:47 : Both kids are of age to marry so the parents could not have stopped them.
DeleteTo everyone saying that his parents wouldn’t have let him get married if they didn’t think he was ready, are you some of the same ones always saying that the Duggar children are allowed to do what they want? Such as going to college, moving into their own apartments, going to Wal-Mart without a chaperone?
Delete6:00, I brought that up about the parents and no, I don't say that they are allowed to do what they want.
DeleteCan't wait to see more pictures, but Claire looked really pretty in the one picture I did see. Love how she wore her hair.
ReplyDeleteBased on how slow these blogs have been this weekend, I'd say Ellie went to this event. So how about a report?
ReplyDeleteI think TLC has the guest sign an NDA or something similar. So details don’t get leaked until it airs on TV.
DeleteTime 9:00PM Sat 2/27/21
DeleteFor those of u that don't know is today
Is Claire Duggars birhday she is now
20 has the same birthday as my older
Brother. Happy birthday Claire
HOPE Justin got u a new necklace.
❤❤❤❤❤🎂🎂🎂🧁🍰
Wow.
DeleteYikes, did you mean to come across as that harsh-sounding!?
Deleteso how about a little patience?
DeleteCongratulations to mr and mrs duggar
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Claire and Justin! Have a wonderful life together! Remember Jim Bob and Ben were 19 when they got married to Michelle and Jessa, not everyone has to wait to a certain age. I met my husband at 19, but waited 7 years to get married. Still togehter 35 years later.
ReplyDeleteYep, I got married 2 weeks after my 18th birthday, it hasn’t been easy, but now we’ve been married 24 years, have 3 kids and 3 grandkids. It takes a lot of work, and patience, but I always got irritated when people told me I was too young to get married. It’s like when you find that special person, you just know.
DeleteWishing you all the best. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless
Marilyn,Joan and Marion
Congratulations
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Justin & Claire hope they have a wonderful future together. My husband and I married young he 20 and I 19. That was almost 32 yrs ago.
ReplyDeleteAwwww congrats to them!! How exciting, wishing them the best.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Justin & Claire Duggar. I'm so 😀 happy for you guys. I love the pictures of you both. I can't wait to see what God has in store for your future. I hope you both have a beautiful honeymoon. I can't wait to hear about the courtship & see the engagement & wedding & honeymoon on season 12 of counting on. Natasha b
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS TO THEM!!!! How wonderful!!!!! I do hope there will be a baby gor them by the end of this year!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, to Justin & Claire!!!! I hope that you guys, will have many happy years together.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was to be in April?!?!! They always move the weddings up like there's a huge rush.
ReplyDeleteThey use place holder dates on their registries! If you look back on previous weddings, we usually don’t find out the date until the couple is already married. The standard Duggar engagement is 3 months and Justin and Claire’s lasted exactly that long.
Delete🙄 that’s what you believe is happening. They use a fake date to keep it from becoming public.
DeleteThey look like brother and sister!
ReplyDeletePlease know you have a choice, you do not have to get pregnant on your honeymoon.
ReplyDeleteSo if they get pregnant on their honeymoon, maybe that's their choice.
DeleteVery well put.
DeleteSo true and they have a choice to be parents as well ❤️
DeleteCongratulations to this very young couple.
ReplyDeleteTo me it sounds like your kids are just taking way too long to commit to their relationships.
Delete3:04 It's not too long if they're working on being financially sound before committing to marriage. At 23 and 25, they're barely out of college. My son and DIL were high school sweethearts. They waited until they both had their degrees and had good jobs before they married at 24.
DeleteFour years is a long time to still not know if that is the person for you. Dr Phil says if you are not married within three years, then something is wrong. Your kids have commitment problems.
DeleteAnon 10:17. Dr. Phil? Really? A guy that can't stay married to anyone? I don't buy anything he says.
DeleteWe've seen enough failed marriages in our extended families/friend circles/Churches to really invest time in getting to know that person over a few years' worth of different situations.
DeleteCongratulations Justin and Claire!!!!
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, once you realize that this is the person you want to spend your life with, there is no need to wait years and years to get married. They are both adults, and should be allowed to make this decision. Years ago, almost everyone got married young and stayed committed to their marriage until one of them died.
ReplyDeleteyeah because laws have changed. it’s not because people are more loose about marriage now, it’s because women literally couldn’t survive if they weren’t married or even file for divorce if they wanted to. don’t chalk up their young marriage to being “more like the old days”
DeleteExactly! Marry at 10, I say. When you know you know!
DeleteCongratulations! I’m so happy for you! ❤️
ReplyDeleteI was married at 18 one week before my nineteen birthday. My husband was 23. And we're still married 26 years later.
ReplyDeletePics??? I am excited to see what her dress looked like!
ReplyDeleteShe's 20 and he's 18. Wonder what the rush was?
ReplyDeleteThey love each other and they want to. It happens 😏
DeleteYes. They want to.
DeleteShe looks like his mom.
ReplyDeleteShe does!
DeleteHe looks 14 and she looks in her late 20's
DeleteNo, she doesn't look like his mom at all.
DeleteYeah. I think she's running this show.
DeleteAww... they're so cute together! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI truly hope that they wait awhile to have children. Enjoy each other and grow up more. At least they are to be congratulated on waiting for marriage and not becoming a statistic for having children out of wedlock!! Enjoy the honeymoon!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your wedding and marriage. May the Lord bless you always. Eileen
ReplyDeletebabies getting married... and soon babies having babies
ReplyDeletePrecious couple and great picture of them. So happy for you two.
ReplyDeleteI met and befriended my husband at 17, then dated him when I was 19 and 20. At 20 I felt ready to marry (although he hadn't asked), but I got cold feet and broke it off.
ReplyDeleteFast forward to age 26, when we got back together after having both grown and changed on some of the aspects that had made me hesitate before.
DeleteI'm sure that being encouraged/discouraged by parents and the surrounding culture does have a lot to do with whether you have your eyes open to evaluate your peers for marriage sooner vs.
DeleteI hope Michelle is doing well.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I could never have bio kids. It seemed so devastating at the time when we were going through all the infertility tests and procedures. We went on to adopt two wonderful children who are now grown. Ever since they came home to us, there have been no pangs or yearnings for anything or anyone else.
DeleteTies the knot? Why the euphemism?
ReplyDeleteA euphemism is something used to make an unpleasant or inappropriate thing sound better. Ties the knot is a figure of speech, which we're all allowed to use if we want.
DeleteAgree. This blog's writing style is 1940's reporter style.
DeleteInteresting, 9:31. How often do you read 1940s reporting?
Delete@12:17 There are such a things as the internet, old newspapers, old magazines, and books.
DeleteIs Jackson next?
ReplyDeleteI hope not. He's about 16 or so. Of course he can enter a relationship but will have to wait until 18 to marry.
DeleteJohanna maybe next. She’s a nice girl.
DeleteI think Jed will be next.
DeleteJana will be next...she is already thinking about what her new monogram will be...
Delete@10:38-What??? Thinking about her new monogram? I seriously doubt it!
DeleteEveryone has already mentioned how young and shared concerns but I say more power to them! With the all the craziness in the world today, who says how many tomorrows or next years we will have. Stop judging how other people choose to live. Live your best life and be as happy as possible doing so.
ReplyDeleteWe hope Claire’s mother,Hillary, can make many guest appearances on Counting On, including attending births. Michelle needs a break. She is a beautiful, loyal mom who attends births of her daughters and daughters in law. She helps them breathe in and out.
ReplyDeleteSilly. That's what labor coaches do. That's what our birthing class teacher told the birth partners to do.
DeleteWho are you??? :-)
DeleteWho is who?
DeleteAre you serious? Michelle doesn't WANT a "break". She makes it very clear she intends to be front and center at every birth. She even traveled to California in the midst of the pandenic to be there when Jinger gave birth.
DeleteCongrats to the young couple.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I see that another Duggar gets married, and I see it’s not Jana, my heart hurts for her. She’s basically the unpaid Nanny for all her younger siblings! She’s so beautiful, inside and out, and has so many talents. I pray that GOD will open the path for her to follow to her soul mate very soon. She deserves that!
I met my future husband, and married him 7mo later! So, the time frame was:
*met late July 1989
*Started dating early August 1989
(he finished His stint in the navy)
*Secretly got engaged October 10,1989
*Got married April 28, 1990.
*We will be married 31yrs this coming April
*We have 2 grown children
*We have 5 grandchildren (ages:7,5,3,18mo, and 3mo)
We were 24&26 when we married.
DeleteIf you were older then why did you both need a secret engagement?
DeleteMaybe Jana doesn't like men bossing her around. She's an independent woman. Maybe she'll never marry.
DeleteAnd maybe Jana has someone on her radar right now.
DeleteOne of 3 courtships (or whatever) right now.
Delete@9:29. If your spouse is not also your best friend, something is wrong.
DeleteI have been married for over 35 years and share EVERYTHING with my spouse.
DeleteI sure wouldn't want my spouse designating me as "friend" status, "best friend" or not. I'd hope I was much more.
Delete6:20, if your spouse is your best friend, they aren't "just" your best friend. They're much more than that also.
DeleteHi lily!
ReplyDeleteWhen are new episodes of counting on airing?
