  2. In 2012 picture they did not even start dating at that time. Both Jessa and Jill started dating in 2013 and married in 2014. I wonder what they'd think looking at that picture. Did they imagine their future the way it unfolded?

  3. Merry Christmas,I'm sure the Duggars will have a nice time today spent with extended family, before I criticized for socializing with their married children and family in law,but now I realize that they only socialize between other family members that also stay home and keep to the same group,I suppose life goes on,it is asking too much to stay away from family when this pandemic could last for years,I have noticed that they don't socialize with their large number of friends that they used to meet up with before the pandemic,so let's not criticise my and let them have a happy Christmas.

  4. Merry Christmas to everyone and Happy Birthday to our precious Savior, the Light of the World. Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and blessed 2021, as well. Thank you for all the hard work put into this blog. It's a real pleasure to see old photos of the Duggars. My favorite episodes are their Christmas ones. Unfortunately, I have to work today and can't be with my family. I work in law enforcement.

  5. Five boys in six years. Impossible to give them all individual attention, especially with 14 other siblings! No matter how much they smile for the camera, those kids didn't get enough attention, though I'm sure they got plenty of discipline.

    1. Michelle said in an episode that she tries to spend as much quality time with each of her children as possible, and it's true they showed episodes spending quality time at night when all the chores are done saying the reason they go to sleep late is so at the end of the day they can talk to their kids about anything they want to get off their mind or ask about, there are enough hours in a day for one to one with that many children if you don't waste time watching TV,I remember episodes where she played chess with one of them and bowling with another and skating with a few others and that's spending quality time together, even doing school work is that if they do it at home not at school.

    2. I don’t think many kids get individual attention, even someone who is an only child. Typically, they are at school all day and then there’s tv, video games and friends. I don’t see a lot of families who actually spend much quality time together so I think these kids likely get as much or probably even more attention than those.

    3. It's possible, you just have to be very intentional about it.

    4. It was SIX boys in FIVE years. Even worse.

    5. So glad there weren't a new batch of babies this November! Good job slowing down, older kids. I think Jessa, especially, is done, and I imagine she responds very vaguely for her dad's questions about more.

    6. When I was a teacher, I had twenty five year olds, and I had an individual relationship with each one because that mattered to me. I could even recognize each one’s handwriting and drawing style. I also spoke on a regular basis with all their caregivers. The point is that these were students with me five days a week for less than a year, and I knew each one well. A parent, particularly a homeschooling parent, as much more time to spend with their children. It can be done—it just takes a special level of commitment most parents cannot or will not make.

    7. The Duggars are a wonderful family just like the Bates Family. They seem to spend more time with their kids than most families who use video games, phones and TV as a baby sitter. They are home schooled and even study the Bible each day. Do they have problems, yes, but everyone does who are raising kids, but they have the Lord to turn to for wisdom and discernment and that is 100% needed today.

  6. A special Merry Christmas to those in the military and separated from loved ones or far from home, and to the families left behind to carry on while missing their service members. Also to those unable to be with anyone, either for pandemic reasons or other reasons. Do the Duggars ever think of these people as they gather? I know I think of the military families every year, after having been one of them for years. Now I'm waiting patiently for the pandemic to lessen before being around family again. It's the only way to make sure we'll be able to be together for many more Christmases later!

    2. Staying away from family during Christmas unfortunately won't guarantee being together again. There are no guarantees that any of us will be around in a year.

  9. It's so fun to see the older pictures, although it doesn't really seem like it could be all that long ago. It just goes to show how time flies. They certainly have grown up since then! I hope all the Duggars had a blessed Christmas.

  11. Jill and Jessa looked like twins back then. They have both changed a lot.

  12. Staying up late at night 'talking' adds no extra time to their day as they get up very late the next day..so they still have only 24 hours in their day too..it's just a later schedule. So, I don't believe that those children received the attention that they deserved growing up.

    1. The point was that they do spend time with their kids on an individual basis, not how many hours there are in a day.

    2. Kids need their mom and dad for more than a few minutes before bed. 24 hours in a day divided by 19 kids, all at different developmental stages, doesn't add up to quality individual time on any given day.

  14. People should celebrate Christmas any way they wish. I don't happen to believe Christ was born on December 25th. The Roman Catholics picked that date. For me, it's a time to enjoy being with family and focus on peace, love, and giving.
