16 Years of Duggars

Has it really been 16 years? We say this every fall, but time sure does fly. 2020 marks the 16th anniversary of the Duggars' first television special. "14 Children and Pregnant Again" premiered on September 6th, 2004.

Since that day, more than 300 specials and episodes of 17 Kids and Counting, 18 Kids and Counting, 19 Kids and Counting, and Counting On have been shown to the public. It's no doubt that the Duggars will go down in reality TV history.

  1. Yes, that's a long time, and we can only hope they'll go off the air soon.

  2. If they go down in "reality TV history," it may not be for the reasons you're thinking.

  3. Have noticed that Jinger and Jeremy’s baby which is due next month isn’t even listed with their family in the birthdays column (altho it’s listed with the grandkids 🤷‍♀️)

    2. It's there in the birthday column, but maybe it was just added. But it does say Baby #2, November 2020.

    3. How is she supposed to put the baby on the birthday list when the baby doesn't have a birthday yet? Is this a real question?

      Delete
    4. An unborn baby does not have a birthday.

    5. If the blog listed or pictured all the unborn babies, it would be a very very long list! Pages!

I just want to say before I make
A comment about the Duggars some
People need to be shame of themselves for posting mean comments etc. Actual Duggar fan
Would not do that. I dont see mean
Comments on the Bates Blog. I see
    Comments about why dont these
Women have jobs etc. Iam 32 disabled attend a program with
Adults with special needs live with
My mom & have no Job. So please
Think before u speak some of u guys
Have kids who might be hurt that
    Their parents bully this family
Be a role model to your kids
    Nephews nieces etc.

    1. Comparing your plight to the duggars is an unfair matchup. None of the Duggar's kids have special needs

    2. the majority of kids are not hurt that their parents vehemently disagree with the duggars life choices

    3. Thank you Neddy for your reminder. All of us need to be kinder to one another and less judgemental. My friend always says, when you point your finger at someone, remember you have three fingers pointing back at yourself.

    4. Neddy, I simpathize with your feelings about the comments about the girls’ jobs. However, none of the Duggar girls are disabled, so they don’t have anything preventing them from working. They can choose not to, but of course people are going to wonder why they don’t.

    5. Haven't we been over this topic enough?

    6. Very well said Neddy, more people need a kind heart at this time of world upset. My dad always used to say if you can’t say anything nice then say nothing at all, some people would do well to heed that advice. Iv been very ill recently & it’s made me re-evaluate how I treat people in general & to live everyday to the best I can & be kinder to people, as I received so much kindness when I was ill in hospital I want to give the same back to others.

    7. The Duggars are not disabled. Not everyone is a fan, either. Just let people be who they are and comment as they choose, and you do the same. No need to scold others, because we are not in charge--the blog authors decide what to post or not post.

    8. In my opinion its not mean to motivate women to earn money. If something happens to the husband, the wife has still money to provide for the children. Its not mean to question their decision not to work its just a concern. If a woman is able to have a job she can be independant if the situation asks for it. I m sorry for your situation Neddy but if you get angry of reading comments on a blog about people you dont even know in real life, i think you should consider stop following this blog. Just relax lady! Focus on the positive.

    16. To Neddy and all the other readers talking about “disabled” and “not disabled,” I think all of the Duggar women may be disabled in some way. Except maybe Jana. “Disabled” does not always have to be physical.

  6. I always enjoy the shows. I wish TLC would replay the early shows.
And I would enjoy a show with just the remaining children living at the big house. And maybe a show about the various Duggar businesses and the Duggars who work there or who are owners. Sincerely Queenie Lovehart.

    1. Jill & Derick, are no longer on Counting On, because a couple of years ago, they announced that they were quitting the show. Season 11, of Counting On, which aired its' season finale on Sept. 22nd, consisted of 12 episodes, whereas season 10, of Counting On, only consisted of 10 episodes. Thus, season 11, of Counting On, was one of Counting On's longer seasons. https://www.tlc.com/tv-shows/counting-on/

  13. It's been rather amazing watching this family grow up. Also, a lot of memories pop up for me, as a fan: Josie as a preemie, losing first Grandpa Duggar, then Grandma, Josh getting into so much trouble, the kids getting their wisdom teeth out, the building and decoration of the big house -- just so much. It would sure be nice to meet the Duggars someday. I've watched so many episodes, they nearly feel like family.

  14. Love them. Hope they're on tv many more years

  15. I've watched every single episode, starting when it started in 2004.Back then it was narrated by a male voice, documentary style, and not up close and personal like it is now.

  16. There is a doubt that the Duggars will go down in reality TV history.

They are not the longest running reality TV Show; NOT even in the top 10. The top 10 show no signs of being cancelled. They are long lasting and popular.

Remember the Duggars are popular with only a small segment of the TV viewing public, aired on a channel/network many people do not watch.

The Duggars should be congratulated for being on the air since 2004 but let's not go over-board with the praise.

    1. A show about a family with 19 kids that has lasted the long? Yeah, that's pretty remarkable. What other reality families have been on that long?

      Delete
    2. Isn't this the place to show that praise, 12:39? This is a Duggar blog. I still can't understand why people who are not fans of the show, presumably such as yourself, appear here and then cut the Duggars down. This blog seems to be getting more and more trolls.

      Delete
    3. Stop using the word troll. It's name-calling, which is not supposed to be allowed.

      Delete
    4. 3:25 Are you familiar with the types of programs on TLC? I don't believe people who watch some of those shows watch because they are "fans", but rather because it's like a train wreck that you can't look away from. In other words, some are fascinated by the strangeness and oddity. And that works for the Duggars because it means more views and more income. There may be a few trolls on this page, but mostly not.

Their not jeopardizing the children or grandchildren it's just like watch a show on tv when kids in it.

    3. I agree with you. As long as they continue to receive the TV money the Duggars will continue to exploit their children and grandchildren.

      Delete
    4. Not only one kid in therapy but the same kid who had to hire a lawyer in order to get paid what was due to her for being on the show. How is any of that healthy for a family?

      Delete
    5. Totally agree. There is nothing admirable about exploiting your own children.

    6. Hollywood has damaged more kids than the Duggars...

    7. Even 1 child being exploited & emotionally damaged is 1 too many. It doesn’t matter if they’re in Hollywood or Arkansas.

    8. Hollywood may have damaged more kids than the Duggars, but Hollywood didn't claim to be Christian either. LOL One child damaged is one too many.

  26. I have yet to see a single, single Duggar leave home. Almost no Duggar’s live off Duggar property. He likes to put them in his rentals the kids let’s face it paid for. If they had such a empire of properties than it makes less sense the kids were not home owners when they married in a fully paid for house. They mostly live in an area where housing is affordable. I don’t see the married adults having lived at home all that and worked from childhood have any assets. I really haven’t seen a single Duggar earn a degree from an accredited program. A spouse maybe. The Bates have attended accredited programs. Not all. But it is so disappointing to see that not really a choice for the Duggar’s. I think the humble thing to do would be to have stopped the show years ago. I wish any show with kids would last no more than 3 years a percentage having to go into an account for the minor kids to have full access to at 21 or 18. Let them grow up. I hate the family put Jesse and Jill on after. They had been through enough. I hate Anna and her kids were sleeping with the girls when her husband was away. Showed a real lack of respect. Some of the married kids have YouTube channels. Let’s hope they keep any income from that.

    1. You make several good points. I was going to push back on Anna and her kids sleeping with the unmarried Duggar kids, but you're right. It was disrespectful to Anna as an adult and mother. It would have made more sense for her to stay at the guest house next to the Duggar main house. The location would still allow help from the family and Grandma Mary was living there at the time to keep her company. It would also have allowed Anna to show her children in she was a person of authority in the family while their father sought help and that they were still their own familial unit. Instead, she was treated like a dependent and given no privacy.
