Cousin Amy's baby has arrived! Daxton Ryan King was born yesterday, October 9th, to Amy (Duggar) King and husband Dillon King. Baby Dax weighed 7 lbs, 8 oz, according to the exclusive article from People Magazine. At the recommendation of her doctor, Amy had a scheduled C-section due to her small frame and what her doctor said was an 85% chance of an emergency situation developing. Amy's son made his grand debut on his due date.

Congratulations beautiful baby! My granddaughter born Aug 31 2019! Pray for me have cancer stage 1 and brain aneurysm and blood clot! I fighting do harder. Need all pray strong will help me get through this. Beautiful baby again

One thing alone would be difficult to deal with but both cancer & a brain aneurysm is very difficult to cope with. I hope you have a good medical team looking after you & you get all the treatment & care you need. On the plus side you enjoy your beautiful new granddaughter, I’m sure she will lighten up your days & bring you joy at this difficult time.

DeleteConnie, I am sure you will be OK. Stage 1 breast cancer has a 95% cure rate. It is not pleasant to have the operation and the daily radiation is not fun but be thankful your cancer was caught early. It will soon, as my GP told me, be just a bump in the road. I had Stage 1 tumors on both sides.
DeleteI would suggest that you get physio therapy specialized in breast cancer and get whatever support you can get from your local cancer society. Learning how to calm yourself down with yoga breathing. It helped me. Also, talking with other breast cancer survivors helps. These women truly understand what you are feeling and will have helpful hints. Some have had clots too. A friend of mine did, with stage 2.
Good luck, from a cancer survivor. Listen to your doctors and stay positive.
Also, this is Cindy again the stage 1 survivor that had mammosite 5, your surgeon or oncologist should have a nurse navigator, get with them they can also help you to know what's out there. She's who got me on medical assistance(medicaid).
DeleteConnie,this is Cindy I don't know what happened to my first post. But, I am an 11 year breast cancer survivor. I had a lumpectomy followed by mammosite 5 radiation( a 5 day 2 times a day for 8 minutes for woman over 50 whose cancer is caught early.)Please take care of yourself sending prayers. See my post above about getting with a nurse navigator. In Pennsylvania theres a program with medical assistance called the breast and cervical cancer program see if where you live offers that, also I own my home and did not lose it when I went on m a. That program is not based on income. Check with the cancer society, I received 2 compression bras. Love on your new grandbaby that will help you, try to stay positive(I know it's hard)

It’s nice with so many of the Duggar’s away in California that Jill was still around to go visit Amy in the hospital, she must be missing grandma Mary so much at this precious time in her life & I'm sure having her cousin visit was very nice for her & a chance to show off her beautiful little man.

Delete7:45, you as a nurse should know that PELVIS size is what matters when it comes to birthing a baby, not their outer hip size.

Providers often tell petite women they are too small to give birth vaginally, especially if the baby is measuring big or labor has stalled, and should opt for a C-section because it’s safer. In truth, the number of women who truly have too narrow pelvises is low and has nothing to do with body size. The condition is called cephalopelvic disproportion (CPD).
ReplyDeleteExactly. We don't know what was going on with Amy. In any case she had her baby without the drama that we've seen with the Duggar girls who try home births that end up with emergency runs to the hospital to be cared for.
DeleteCPD is also related to the age of the mother. As women are waiting to have children, there are more than will experience this.
DeleteNo provider makes recommendations based simply on a woman's height no matter what you believe. If that were true all these tiny Asian women would be having C-sections.
DeleteI've never heard of providers routinely telling small women they need C-sections. I know many tiny Asian women and NONE of them were told that. It appears Amy had some issues that caused the doctor to have concerns and she wisely opted to have a C-section rather than having a risky labor.
