Jinger and Jeremy Vuolo traveled to Orlando, Florida this week. Jeremy preached at Reformation Bible College in nearby Sanford, Florida, and the Vuolos spent time at Universal Studios, where they met up with Jana Duggar and some friends. They also saw Alyssa Webster (formerly Alyssa Bates) and her family--husband John Webster and daughters Allie Webster, Lexi Webster, and Zoey Webster. DeleteMany pastors preach while in seminary. Some do seminary online while preaching at a church, which Jeremy did for a while, others are able to go to seminary full time, but may still be asked to preach from time to time.

DeleteHope they all had a great time in Florida. My son was on holiday there a few months ago & loved universal studios, he felt he was back in his childhood visiting the Harry Potter shop. Love Jinger & Jeremy & little felicity, the 3 of them look so happy in that picture & Jinger looks stunning in her more modern clothing. I know her choices don’t sit well with many readers on this blog, however I think she looks amazing & I really don’t think she has ever overstepped the mark on modesty, she is simply wearing what most young women her age wear.

I don't think that every comment should be a paean of praise for the Duggars. Many of the commenters are long term fans and have an emotional investment in this family. I don't see it as rude or critical for them to ask questions or voice concerns when they see things happening that are at odds with the family' well established narrative.

It can be easy to forget that there are real people behind our phone, computer, and tv screens. We see brief clips of snapshots of their lives, but we don’t really know them. We have no idea about most of the thoughts or circumstances that are behind their decisions. Nor are we entitled to by the way.

I feel the majority of readers here are fans of the Duggar’s, however we all have a right to question things & the fact they put their family in the public eye leaves them open to criticism. I was just thinking back to the first time I saw this family (when they had 14 children). They were on a trip to a huge plantation house & they were all dressed in prairie dresses, all the little girls exactly the same, my how they have changed. Even Michelle dresses far more normally now & that’s fine to me. Everyone has a right to voice an opinion & if all I got when coming to this blog was praise of the Duggar’s no matter what, then it would put me off reading it. Ellie & Lillie do a great job filtering out the really rude comments & I think they have the balance just right as to what they let through. I want to read the opinions of everyone & not just a skewed view of a family being praised all the time, as that’s just not realistic.

They watch regular movies, dress in regular clothes etc. Universal studios is based on the Movies that are popular. I think what people see on Counting on is just the Duggar s acting is all. lol Its just tv people.

DeleteI think they are just reality show personalities now. The days of Jim Bob and Michelle raising conservative dressing and ministry oriented children are over now. The kids grew up and are nothing like they were under Jim Bob and Michelle 's leadership. I miss the old Digger ways, but I just look at the show like any other reality show, over spending, over indulging, people who live for attention and money.

DeleteI don’t think Jinger wants to share real life like her sisters do. Every picture she takes is staged to be perfect. You never see a bottle, diaper bag or (even a messy home) unless someone else captured a picture she didn’t know about.
DeleteIt is hard but definitely doable. I have six children. My youngest is 7 months. I have breastfed all of them until their next sibling was born. I have been breastfeeding for nine years non stop. I will say it's hard breastfeeding a toddler and about to have a baby. It's also hard breastfeeding a toddler and a newborn. But if you want to do it, it can be done. Breastfeeding is definitely beneficial to the child. It takes a lot of work sometimes and it's not always easy. You are doing a great job, even if you chose to stop before age two.

ReplyDeleteSounds like a dull time in grad school! I worked, studied, ate, slept, and still had time for socializing. They were there for him to preach, so no doubt this was a weekend trip. Maybe he doubled up on his studies ahead of time or worked on the plane or in their hotel rooms.
DeleteDepends on the program maybe? I just started one in educational psychological and it’s busy busy. Free time = self care , such as a simple walk, clean house or play with my cat 😻
Delete@11:57, depends on what you were studying in grad school. Most grad students I know (in the past and now) do not have the time nor the money to socialize that much. Their socializing is with other grad students on a Friday or Saturday night, after they have left their labs. Grad school is a 7 day, 12 month long job, with long hours.

It took five years-at times I took only one class, and during the summer, when I had more time, I completed three classes. Graduate school is not a one size, fits all program.

DeleteI think quite a few posters here have issues with the Duggars, as well as the adult couples because what we see is more of an endless round of vacations, trips, spa days, shopping trips, Date night/couple get togethers/birthday parties, over the top weddings, film crew honeymoons, and staged for TV proposals/baby announcements/gender reveals, with maybe a few service outings here and there. We all know real life isn't like that. So either they're not filming their real life on reality TV or they're really a family of pretty shallow people and all the values-talk was lies. Either way, it feels like we've all been emotionally taken for a ride. Add in the Christian aspect and it looks, sounds, and feels like they've drifted far from what they told us they were. If shallow is all we're seeing, why would we have a reason to think anything else? See the problem? That's not hate-it's people evaluating the evidence trying to determine if they've been taken for an ride. The Bible calls it judging a tree by its fruit.

Why would you want to hold her to something that she wrote before she had any real life experience? She has grown into a lovely, mature, Christian woman, and I for one look up to her.

DeleteI agree with your comment. I was watching a "vintage" Counting On, before Jinger began courting Jeremy, and I miss the original Jinger. I think Jinger feels pressure to conform and adapt to Jeremy's lifestyle. They came from two totally different upbringings. I wonder how Michelle and Jim Bob explain to the younger ones still living at home about Jingers "contradicting lifestyle choices". How can they tell the younger kids about modesty with older siblings in constant opposites, with regard to dress, piercings, etc? I miss what ALL the Duggars used to stand for.

I work in a theme park and I notice that wearing skirts makes climbing into ride vehicles, sliding into bench seats at shows can be quite awkward. Add trying to do that in humid Florida carrying an infant I think her choice was proper.

I only ask because the evangelicals I know think they're particular church is the only one preaching the truth of the Bible and all the others are wrong or deceived in some way. They seem to have the most problem with Catholics.
DeleteReaching someone for Christ means just that -- the Christ of the Bible. If you're a Catholic, you have to ask yourself if your beliefs line up with what the Bible teaches. Because the Pope is just a man and has no special authority to set policy.
DeleteNo, I don't think that people are "reached" by joining a specific denomination or non-denomination. When I say "reach" I just mean helping people become truly born again, or deepening their commitment to Christ, whatever denomination they are a part of.
DeleteI understand what you mane about evangelical churches, each on thinking that they have the truth. Where I am from, 70% of our evangliecal churches are former Catholics. I personally always struggled in churches like that. I always liked denominational churches because they provide some framework in which to live out the faith.
6:50- Your comment implies that Catholics don't follow what the Bible teaches because there's a man in charge making the rules. That pretty much sums up what goes on in most religions and independent churches. They all have a headship, usually a man, that preaches they've got the "Truth of the Bible" that escapes all others. Lots of inflated egos at work, IMO.
