For those who have been asking for a new photo of John and Abbie Duggar, we have one to share, and there is an interesting story that goes with it. On Saturday, July 20th, the couple spent time in Abbie's hometown of Stratford, Oklahoma, for the Stratford Peach Festival, an annual event that has been part of the town's DNA for more than 40 years. Among other things, visitors enjoyed live music, a car show, vendor booths, and plenty of fresh peaches and peach desserts. Stratford is home to multiple peach orchards and calls itself the "peach capital of the world."
John and Abbie weren't just visitors to the festival. They were there to help Abbie's family sell its popular peach ice cream. The Burnetts' peach ice cream is a crowd favorite. This year, they made and sold more than 100 gallons!

ReplyDeleteLove peach ice-cream. Howard Johnson was always a favorite. Breyers and Baskin Robbins did sell peach but never see it any more.

DeleteSo does John, she didn't need to loose weight but he did, maybe she joined him in a health kick just to keep him company and encourage him.

DeleteAbbie lost a lot of weight.
I lost weight in my first pregnancy in the first 6 months due to morning sickness (and in the first trimester+ in the 3 subsequent pregnancies). All I could eat was strawberry banana smoothies at 3 in the afternoon and maybe a small meal for supper, breakfast was a few saltines. Hope she is not suffering too bad with morning sickness. We have all been there! Love to The beautiful Duggar Extended Family.

DeleteBen & Jerry's had peach for 5 years in the late 80's. Lots of other companies, big and small, still make it. Remember, peach season in the US is short, peaches are very perishable, they bruise easily in transport, and peach ice cream is not everyone's favorite. I can see why a company would choose not to make that flavor, if it won't sell well and there are problems with ingredient cost or handling.
DeleteNice to see these guys. However, if they want to lead a quieter life away from tv cameras & publicity, I for one commend them for it. Hope they are happy together, they certainly look it. Enjoy your life as a married couple, keep having fun adventures, & enjoy getting to know each other more each day.

DeleteAnd so the pregnancy speculation begins. Just because she has married into the Duggar family does not mean she wishes to be permanently pregnant. Maybe she went on a healthy eating kick to keep John company, as clearly he has lost weight too.

Plus coming from a family where mom kept having babies maybe he doesn't want any. Let them enjoy being young. There's plenty of time to have a baby or babies IF they want to.

DeleteWhy would a husband not want his wife to work? She's a nurse. I could see if they had a child, but with no children at home, that's crazy. I actually know of 2 couples where the wife was a nurse, hubby worked daylight she worked overnight. That way a parent was at home with the kids at all times.
DeleteJill, Jessa, Jinger, Joy, Kendra and Lauren all stayed at home and didn't work after marriage. Jinger and Lauren didn't/won't even have a baby until 1.5 years after marriage.

Not to sound rude, but I have curly hair and have had all my questions answered about how to take care of it by looking online. There is lots and lots of info depending on your type of hair and what you want your results to look like.
DeleteRachel- I understand your post. We have a list of Abbie's products, but not really how she uses them (which would be more helpful for curly girls to know). Oklahoma's pretty hot during the summer and I'd like to know how Abbie achieves frizz-free because my daughter has thick, curly hair too. LOL

ReplyDeleteCongratulations I had an idea I am sure you probably thought about - there are med flight companies that hire pilots and nurses to transport sick people to and from treatments and medical appointments. Since you meet both qualifications, it would be a way for Abbie to use her nursing skills and the both of you to work together. Hope you have smooth sailing through your pregnancy.
