  1. Why does Josie lick the back of her sign?

    1. Because little kids do unexplainable things some times!

    2. Why does any kid do the silly things they do? I saw a little kid licking the slide at the park once. Yucky

    3. They weren't made out of sugar, they were some sort of chalkboard painted trays. This isn't the first time Josie's licked something on camera. Remember when they made pizzas, and she licked everything that was going on them?

    4. I have never seen Josie lick anything. Regardless, kids tend to do goofy things.

My niece would pull strangers hair and another child I knew would just take things of the dirt floor and eat them she was a child of elementary age.

    5. There is a condition called pica where children feel compelled to eat non-food substances. It can be caused by a developmental problem or a behavioral problem.

  5. Jill sure was a beautiful bride. Her pretty blue eyes and gorgeous smile! And Grandma looked so pretty. There was a girl in the audience at 1:07:56 that looked like a young Michelle. Was she a niece? Nice music, great singers and musicians. Decorations were nice. The only thing I didn't like was the Pastor talking for so long AFTER the bride and groom had already left. The guests were probably dying to get out there and greet the newlyweds, but they couldn't. He talked for much too long

    1. I think he did that on purpose so Jill and Derick could have some time alone.
The same thing was done at Jessa’s wedding.
It was probably very important and sweet to the couples to be able to freely kiss and hug their spouse for the first time before enjoying the rest of the wedding with family and friends.

  6. Why would Jill and Derick upload the TLC video of their wedding when they’ve opted to stop working with TLC?

    1. Because it's not the TLC video.

  7. Happy fifth Anniversary. May you have a wonderful year ahead.
I recall watching your wedding, it was bittersweet as Derick's
mother was going through her illness. Now, two lovely children later and Cathy in apparently good health. A lovely new home. You have been blessed.

  8. Their wedding episode was so sweet. The first look segment, his mom getting to be there, their faces radiating joy and love . . . . such a special day!

  9. I can't believe Jim Bob joked around at the serious moment about who gives this woman. He always has to make everything be about himself. There are many Bible lessons about being humble.

    1. I don't think it's him making things all about himself, I just think it was his corny sense of humor coming out, possibly because he was nervous. That was his first time to be father of the bride! A true example of a father of the bride making things all about himself was the dad from Sister Wives at his first daughter's wedding, in his speech during their wedding ceremony. That was really egregious. In comparison, Jim Bob's joke was nothing.

    2. I don’t think Jim Bob was joking 🙃 I think it was an honest to goodness oopsy on his part out of nervousness

  16. Looking back, it feels as if Jill was rushed into marriage quickly by her parents. She was on the verge of possibly getting some higher education and a career, but Jim Bob found her a suitable prayer partner and the rest is history. I think Josh was rushed into marriage in a similar way, too.

    1. Josh was rushed for various reasons. I think Jill very much wanted to be married. I think Joy-Anna and Austin were the most rushed.

    2. The Duggar siblings were taught that marriage and babies was the ONLY goal for young women. The push to find husbands came from JB and Michelle. I think Jana was holding out for something better than the candidates they offered her, the others just took whoever showed up first.

    3. Oh my word, anonymous @ 11:47, I strongly disagree with you that the others just took whoever showed up first!! They all very much appeared to be in love! It possibly just so happened to be the first one, but we don’t actually know that either. There could possibly have been a very short relationship someone had, that didn’t get announced....

    4. @ 4.21, exactly. People just make assumptions on what they see on the TV.

Another thing, Jill had already fallen in love with Derek before they met. She was more than ready

      Delete
    5. @6:15 No, we can also base our opinions on things that Jill and Derick said themselves. Derick was Jim Bob's prayer partner first. Jim Bob helped engineer the relationship. It would never have happened if he didn't start it or allow it. Falling in love with someone before you even meet them sounds like some other (scary) show on TLC.

    6. Unknown: falling in love with someone you're never met can lead to unexpected problems. I remember that football player that was in "love" with a woman he'd never met. The woman didn't exist. He was the victim of a cruel hoax. Guard your heart and know who you're committing to.

    7. Anon 10:40. I agree. JB is quite the matchmaker. Except for John and Jinger's marriages he's played a strong role in promoting marriages for his children to approved partners.

    8. Jill was already 23 years old when she was getting married; how come she was rushed into marriage?? If not for Derick, who knows, she could be second Jana now. She is a girl from a big family in rural Arkansas. She however got a very romantic love storyline, traveled to Nepal (!!!) to meet her future fiance. Jim Bob did very well by making this happen.

    9. Anon @3:38 PM -- and you want your children to marry someone you don't approve of??? Like, seriously, they are parents, they have life experience, they know their kids' personalities, so obviously they see who is a better match and who is not.
Also being a matchmaker is absolutely nothing wrong; it's actually a very good thing, because Jill is now married with children, as well as many other Duggar kids.

    10. Anon @11:47 --- I so disagree... they did not take whoever came first. They were introduced to someone, and then they were falling in love or not, and if they were they were getting married. Look at Josiah, he had some girl before Lauren, it did not work out.

People should get married, and they should have children, and it is easier to do when you are younger. So 20s is the best time to court, get engaged, get married. They did not go to college? So it's because they did not want to! They know what's around, but so far only Jill wanted to get some sort of a profession.

  17. It was fun to see Lauren and her family in the video several times.

  18. Jill was the first Duggar daughter to marry, and it was so new at that time. She I think pretended she was in some ancient times and she went barefoot. I don't know what was the meaning of being barefoot. They were given that huge newly renovated house by Jim Bob. They got pregnant right away, Derick had a stable job.

I wonder if Jill is where she was seeing her be in 5 years at the time of her wedding. She was so inspired to be working as a midwife, somewhere on a mission. Have many kids. Now, 5 years later, she had 2 c-sections, only 2 kids. She has a nose ring, wears shorts and high heels, and her husband does not have a job.
