Baby Duggar Girls Galore!

The tides are changing for the Duggar family. After having so many grandsons and only a few granddaughters, Jim Bob and Michelle are going to welcome three little girls into their family this fall. Anna, Kendra, and Lauren are all having daughters!

Josh and Anna Duggar shared the gender of their baby last week. And just now, a double announcement has just been made. Joe and Kendra Duggar are having a girl, and so are Josiah and Lauren Duggar! Joy-Anna and Austin Forsyth still have not shared their news.

"I'm so excited about being a mommy to a baby girl," says Kendra. "There's a lot more things to buy for a little girl, which I don't know is good for your wallet," comments Lauren. Visit Jim Bob and Michelle's website to watch short videos from the couples.

After Anna, Joy, Lauren, and Kendra deliver their children, there will be a total of 17 Duggar grandchildren--9 boys (Michael, Marcus, Mason, Israel, Samuel, Spurgeon, Henry, Garrett, and Gideon), 7 girls (Mackynzie, Meredith, Felicity, Ivy, Anna's daughter, Kendra's daughter, and Lauren's daughter), and 1 not yet announced (Joy's baby).

    2. This is what they chose and are obviously very happy with it. It may shock you to learn that some women actually ENJOY having and spending time with their children. It’s so shoved down women’s throats today that they HAVE to work outside the home, and postpone having children until their late twenties, or even thirties, (if ever). If that’s what you choose to do with your life then great, but some women still value being mothers.

    7. 11:42 - the most ridiculous claim I ever heard, about working moms value their children more. Where are getting this from? Based on what? Part of the reason why moms choose to stay at home is to love and take care of their children better, instead of leaving them with strangers.

    8. I am not a conservative Christian but I still realized that the greatest blessing that a woman who wants to have children can stay at home. I always thought that successful women were the ones who worked but now now that I'm married and I'm pregnant, all I want is to be able to stay home and educate my children.

Will Anonymous that is their business. As I recall Women had only one job teaching back then but they gave it up to marry man. If these women want to be 🏠 wives then so be it. Your comment is very rude.

    10. 11:42, umm no. I know plenty of mothers who don’t value being mothers and are constantly saying rude things and just being generally mean to their children. 99% of the time the women who I hear doing this are ones who work outside the home (also when I say this don’t confuse that with meaning I think 99% of mothers who work outside the home are mean to their children, that’s not what I’m saying, I know plenty of mothers who work and are fantastic parents) But a mother who chooses to work not because she has to, but because she WANTS to before her kids are even school aged, and leave them in daycare starting when they’re 6 weeks old for eight hours a day definitely doesn’t value her children more than women who decide to raise them rather then letting other people do that for them. In what way do you think working mothers value their children more? That makes no sense.

      Delete
    11. @11:42 I agree. Working mothers, in many cases, HAVE to work in order to support their families.

And, limiting the number of children you have so you can provide the best opportunities for those children is the definition of valuing those children. Parenthood is more than changing diapers. It does not stop when the child is 18.

@12:40, I had my children in my late 30s. They are precious to me and my husband. And we took our responsibility towards our children very seriously. Looking back, there was many a time, we would include in our outings, pick up from school events, visit with during the college years.. friends of our children whose parents were too busy with younger siblings to be there.

    13. Anon 9.12am. Many mums go back to work when their child is young because they feel for their own mental well-being they need to see other adults throughout the day. That’s their choice & some do feel it makes them a better mother because of it. Not every woman has a lot of family support & people to pop in & see them or take their baby for a few hours while mum gets some sleep (if she has been up all night). I was a stay at home mum for several years as I just couldn’t bare leaving my babies. However I had no family support at all & when I got post partum depression after the birth of my first child my Doctor suggested I was grieving the loss of my own mother & missing my own parents now I had my own child. He suggested I go back to work as it may help me emotionally. I did one night shift on the nursing bank & cried for 10 out of the 12 hours I was there. Probably in my case because of the nature of my job, delivering other women’s children when I should have been home with my son was too much. After that night it was another 9 years before I went back to work again. But I do understand how some new mums may see the interaction with other adults makes them calmer & better prepared as a mum for the time they do spend with their child. It’s wrong to make assumptions that women who put their kids in nursery so they can work, don’t value their child over their job. Yes there are bad mums out there & some in my experience are ones that are at the end of their tether after being in a small flat all day with a baby that has been crying & no mum or sister or sister-in-law coming to visit with food or to chat, they can be so emotionally on edge that they become bad mothers of the worst kind.

    15. I think working or not working depends on the woman. A lot of women feel that they can do both, raise children and have a career. Mary Duggar, Jim Bob's Mother was a realtor, owned land and I believe owned an ice cream shop. She was a Savoy business woman who raised two kids and gave a lot to her son and daughter. She was a strong woman and even her Grandchildren benefited from her business sense and have lived in her homes. So I wouldn't be to quick to not see someone else's point of view when they wonder why the whole clan of Jim Bob's daughters never held a job outside the house, with a business woman like Mary as their Grandmother. Remember it was Mary who raised Jim Bob. There was a reason Amy who looked up to her Grandmom now owns her own clothes shop. Amy was tight with Mary and was not only her friend but considered her Grandmom her mentor. I don't believe for a second that in order to raise strong Godly children that you have to be home all the time to do it. A lot of stay at home Moms are addicted to social media and aren't mentality present in their children's lives anyway.

    16. 7:35, if you only see your child’s 5 hours out of the day, you’re not raising them🀷🏻‍♀️

    17. Fuzzyferet, once again, there is a difference between getting a 2-3 day a week job that’s lasts for a few hours so you have some time to just be around adults and get a break of sorts (I fully understand how some women need that, especially if they don’t have a good support system/friends that they’re able to meet with throughout the week) but when someone decides to go back to work full time when they have a newborn baby, or very small child and only seeing them for a few hours out of the day, you probably just shouldn’t have kids. There’s a point in time in your life where you put your kids first, and that is the time to do so.

    18. My mother in the 70’s and 80’s (before smartphones, social media and internet) was a stay at home mother. @7:35pm you’re absolutely right about being “present” in that time it was soap operas and Danielle Steel (for my parent) and heaven forbid we interrupted. TV was the babysitter πŸ™

The “we stayed outside until it was dark@ didn’t mean it was better for you 100% either, granted it wasn’t staring at a screen as well. Fresh air is good πŸ˜€

    19. Anon 10:34 We don't see our kindergarten children to 12th graders more then 5 hours a day because of school and then homework. Most children are in preschool at the age of 4 which is approximately 3-4 hours long. Most career women have family or top notch daycares who provide love and care for our babies. So a career woman can raise her child and do a real good job at it if I say so myself. lol

    21. I grew up during the 60’s and 70’s, the argument about working moms vs stay at home moms went on then much as it does today. Today there are more college educated, career driven women than ever before and as long as both parents are committed and willing to chip in, it can work well. I have however noticed that in families where both parents work family life suffers. Less dinners as a family, frequent fast food....etc. Our culture as lost it’s clearly defined gender roles, we do the same jobs, dress the same, talk like sailors etc. I’m not saying women shouldn’t work....how can we do it and maintain family life and values.

      Delete
    22. They want to stay at home. And it's really commendable that their husbands don't mind them being stay at home moms and provide for them to do that. So many women have to work just to support their kids. Not everyone wants to have a work career. Many women don't.

      Delete
    23. And so why a woman should not have a choice to stay at home, but has to always thrive to be a career woman?? Women do have rights. Women do have choices. Why then you criticize a woman's choice to be a housewife??

      Delete
    24. Anon @2:35 AM -- luckier? These girls are extremely lucky that that they go with their choice to stay at home with their kids and they have husbands to support them in this. They don't have to work, get stressed about studying, getting a job, career... They can be true to themselves and do what they want, stay at home and take care of husband and kids.

    25. Hello 11:28 AM -- Social Security is not taking money from the government. It's YOUR money that YOU Paid in. That's why some people get more, some get less, and some get zero.

      Delete
    26. 3:56, your comment “most career women have family or top notch day cares who provide love and care to our babies” once again shows that someone else is rasing YOUR child. You’re working, not raising them. I don’t see your argument, if anything you’re agreeing with me.

      Delete
    27. No, 10:57. That's not how it works. If you paid into SS, that just makes you entitled to it, at a level based on your highest income years. If you're lucky enough, you will live long enough to get back much, much MORE money than you ever put into Social Security yourself. (Most people do.) You don't have a private SS fund anywhere that you paid into personally, and your SS checks don't stop the minute you reach the total amount you ever paid into it. The rest of the SS money that comes to you for the remainder of your life has to come from somewhere else!

Married people who never worked can claim 50% of what their spouse is getting, if their spouse worked. So you can NEVER work, NEVER pay into SS, yet still get a government check each month if your spouse worked. This is how SAHM's who don't work STILL get SS.

  4. "A lot more things to buy for a little girl" - I have no idea what Kendra is talking about, other than those crazy bows, which aren't needed in the first place. Baby girls don't need to wear any more clothing than baby boys to cover arms, legs, and torso. Is she going to play dress-ups, like having a new doll? Is she going to try to out-ruffle and out-frill her sisters-in-law? That comment makes very little sense and frankly, shows a level of immaturity that's concerning.

    1. Ask Lauren. She said that.

      Delete
    2. Disagree. I have a little boy and EVERYWHERE I SHOP (no matter how many stores I go to) there are more girl's clothing and/or accessories options available than there are boy's. It's not that Kendra has to buy her girl more clothes. It's that she can, and apparently she wants to. Some people think it's fun to dress up their babies. And I don't think it has to have anything to do with maturity level. I think it's about personal interests, preferences and culture. And to be honest (though it be rude of me to say), I kind of think your aggressive and staunch, closed minded opinion on the subject shows a level of immaturity that's concerning.

      Delete
    3. It wasn’t Kendra’s comment. It was Lauren’s, but I’m quite sure what she’s talking about is all the shoes purses, nail polish, makeup, sweaters, pretty dresses or who knows what else that girls like as they grow up. Or even the type of toys a girl plays with versus boys. Definitely a lot more shopping than for boys! And I have 3 sons and 1 daughter

    7. The bows are a matter of taste; all of my friends (and I'm past 70) loved dressing up their little girls. And, frankly if she can afford it....................

      Delete
    8. I think perhaps this comment was made relating to girls in general. As little girls grow they want bags, shoes, makeup, hair accessories etc. That’s where the extra cash comes into things. My children are in their 20s now but my son went through a lot less clothes & accessories as he grew than my daughter did, maybe this is what the comment refers to. I can’t see the videos in the UK so don’t actually know the context in which this comment was made.

      Delete
    9. Her comment shows a lot more maturity than your thinking. She is looking further than the first few weeks/months when the baby is mostly in sleepers.

      Delete
    10. She didn’t say she was going to buy more things...just that there are more things to buy. Which is true. The difference between baby boy and baby girl sections in any store is substantial. I was way more likely to grab another cute outfit for my girls than I was for my son.
And who cares if she wants to dress her daughter up? It’s not immature, it’s s difference in style and opinion. Why mommy shame a young, new mother?

      Delete
    11. No, it doesn't. Dressing a baby girl was way more fun than dressing my boys. I know what she's talking about.

      Delete
    12. Lighten up. Kendra is allowed to be giddy about having a daughter! Baby girl clothes ARE more fun; it does not show a lack of maturity.

      Delete
    13. Maybe what she meant was that if she had a boy she would have to buy less things because the new baby could wear hand me downs from Garrett....

      Delete
    14. Well, THAT was an overreaction.

      Delete
    15. Making comments about other people like this makes very little sense and frankly, shows a level of immaturity that's concerning- when it’s none of our business in the first place.

      Delete
    16. OP, you sound kind of jealous. Did you have 10 boys and 0 girls, or something?

      Delete
    17. Just because there are mote things out there to buy does not mean you have to go buy them! The kids can only be all about those things if the parents allow it and buy that stuff for the kids. I was never into makeup, bows, purses, or anything like that and my parents didn't push itbonto me either and I managed to turn out ok. People need to distinguish between wants and needs for a child. Babies and kids don't need nine tenths of that stuff. I think kids nowdays have way too many material things and the parents have lost gocus on what's really necessary or important for the sake of howvthey look to others. It's a waste of good money imho.

      Delete
    18. Kendra, Laruen, what's the difference who said it. It's Baby Girl Derby time for all of them. The bow factories are going to have to add extra shifts to keep up with demand.

    20. Baby girls definitely have more variety of clothes, dresses, tutus, headbands, shoes, you name it. It is enjoyable for a mother to dress her kids nicely. Look at Jinger, she always dresses up her daughter in different clothes, dresses, headbands and so on.
By the way, it was Lauren's comment, not Kendra's.

  10. Congratulations to Kendra and Joe as well as Lauren and Josiah.
I was surprised by Lauren's comment. Boy and girl infants require the same necessities. The only reason a baby girl would have more stuff or cost more is if the parents dress their daughter extravagantly and, even then, that is due to the wants of the parent rather than the needs of the child. There is also nothing wrong with forgoing bows and other accessories if you're that worried about money. Purchase the standard toy with primary colors if the pink one costs more money. Also, as Lauren already knows, consignment stores and thrift stores many times have never worn and nearly new clothes at reasonable prices.

    1. I don't think she means necessities or cost I think she means there's more to dress a girl in. I found with my little boy he was always in joggers coz I don't like baby jeans but my little girl had skirts and dresses and leggings more variety.

    2. Dressing your little girl in lace and bows and all those girly things doesn't make them any more of a girl. I remember when little Chastity Bono used to appear on TV with her famous parents, wearing lacy dresses and bows in her hair. How a parent dresses a child is no indication of what's truly in the child's heart. You shouldn't give such importance to clothing anyway. Maybe these girls would prefer pants, but I guess they'll never get the chance to try them until they're married.

  13. So very thrilled for Josiah & Lauren, I really hoped it would be a little girl as I see them both being totally enamoured with a little daughter. Ultimately though I’m just beyond happy that this baby is healthy & well & Lauren continues to do well throughout her pregnancy. I’m pretty sure Lauren won’t want to take any risks & will want medical help close at hand, so I really do hope she & Josiah decide to have their baby at the hospital, where every available medical facility is on hand should it be needed, & after giving birth Lauren can be treated like a princess, as I know the new mums at my hospital are. It’s lovely to have the nurses tending to you, & getting your meals prepared. It helps new mums recover & get some much needed rest during those first few days post partum. Congrats to Kendra & Joe too, so many little girls to spoil with bows & pretty dresses at Christmas.

    1. Lol, you aren’t treated like a princess at most hospitals in America. American hospitals also tend to overuse unnecessary interventions that harm mothers and babies. They’re obviously necessary for high risk situations, but otherwise I would opt for a home birth or a birthing center that’s near or attached to a hospital.

      Delete
    2. I wouldn't trust Duggar-approved CPMs to deliver my child. A CNM in a birthing center or a doctor at the hospital, like Kendra's complication-free birth, seem the way to go.

      Delete
    3. Anon 12.34. Then I feel very sorry for your maternity services in America. There is good & bad everywhere, many hospitals in the UK are stretched to capacity & some discharge very quickly. I am very fortunate in that I work in a very good hospital where we have both high tech facilities where needed & a lovely birthing centre run by our midwives where intervention is kept to a minimum. No intervention should ever be used to harm a mother or baby & if that is actually true then I am grateful I don’t practice in your country. I still stand by the fact any mother who is having a first baby after a loss is better situated in a hospital where experts are immediately on hand, just to be on the safe side, & usually a mum having a rainbow baby is quite obviously more anxious & this is understandable. I also feel the Duggar girls have not had good experiences of home deliveries, just look at Jessa, she has had 2 births that have resulted in post partum haemorrhage & resulted in emergency transfer to hospital, given her history I don’t understand why she even attempts a home birth, clearly the midwives she is using are not qualified enough to deal with her haemorrhages or administer Oxytocin or Misoprostol to stop the bleeding. I’m wondering if you have had a bad hospital experience as your comments suggest this maybe the case, if so I’m sorry you have bad memories. I don’t have great memories of my first birth either but I would never have considered a home delivery simply because the hospital is safer & ultimately to me, the health of my babies was the most important thing.

    4. Treated like a princess??????? Hospitals I have heard of throw you out to the curb by 24 hrs after birth

    5. @12:34 Please cite statistics from the hospitals themselves that prove they "overuse unnecessary interventions," as you say. Define what exactly would be "unnecessary" and what constitutes "overuse." Otherwise, that is simply your opinion, or you're using those phrases to try to scare people away from hospitals for some reason.

    9. Fuzzyferet this is 12:34, and yes I agree with you, knowing that she is more likely to bleed out Jessa should neve have attempted to deliver at home with a CPM, rather then a CNM who could have administered pitocin there. I hope for Lauren that if she’s not comfortable going to a hospital (which I understand) that she would at least go to a birthing center near, if not attached to a hospital. I do disagree with your last statement that “a hospital birth is safer” as that (at least in America for a lose risk pregnancy) is not true.

    10. excellent post Fuzzyfret. I would suspect that the situation in the US is not as dire as posters here describe. I do not know for certain; I am not in the US. My country is similar to yours. We have socialized medicine, with birthing centers attached to hospitals.

People look at the stats, without understanding what is driving those stats. They forget that the average age of first time mothers has increased (it is now 28 here). With increase age, women's bones are less flexible. Also, young women tend to heavier than previous generations. (There is a serious problem in all Western countries).

      @3:55 so true.

    11. Or a really well trained experienced and calming midwive and no unneeded people milling around her.

      Delete
    12. @3:32 There's a reason why hospitals use teams. Sometimes one person makes a mistake and doesn't realize it, but the others do. Nobody who works in a hospital is "unneeded" or "milling around." Are you referring to family members?

      Delete
    13. Fuzzyferet and @9:51 it really isn't as bad as some posters would like you to believe. I am older long done with having children(grandchildren now) but, don't know a single person that opted for a home birth over a hospital births. New moms are treated like princesses after giving birth here too. The day before they go home the new parents are even given a special dinner together just the two of them. Why anyone would not want a hospital or birthing center is just crazy to me. The drs and in the case of the Duggar woman the qualified midwives are there.I feel after reading these posts that some posters just want to show that the Duugar females are right no matter what. 14. 9:04, you do realize that having a homebirth is not some new concept, correct? And I don’t know where you gave birth, or what year you did, but that was obviously very different then today. Parents aren’t given some “special dinner”, that made me laugh out loud. Also I’m not defending the Duggar women’s choices, as you would have seen if you read my comment. I would also like to add that if you’re now having grandchildren you’re around the age where hospitals gave women twilight during their births, so I don’t think your generation is the most qualified to be giving birthing advice. (Maybe you had a normal birth, just a thought)

    15. As a mother of 2 who lives in the US, I have to say I had 2 great birth experiences at two different hospitals. Neither Dr did anything but what was absolutely needed for me to deliver my babies. My 1st I tore on my own and my Dr even told me why she was letting me, she stitched me up afterwards a few weeks later I was as good as new. This birth I just had a few weeks ago different Dr and hospital again I tore so little that I didn't need anything, I literally coughed my son out. At both hospitals I was kept for over 24 hrs, my 1st I had him on a Tuesday and was discharged on Thursday, my 2nd I had him on a Thursday and we were out on Saturday. So not all Drs in the US are bad and use unnecessary intervention, as a patient you needed to look into your Drs qualifications, and stand up for yourself. Oh and neither of my obgyns delivery my recent son because both were unavailable, so I had who ever was on call, so I didn't get to research him before he delivered my baby, and yes I knew there was a chance my choosen Dr would not be there since her partner in the practice was out on maternity leave herself.

    16. 10:47, I’m a grandmother now and I don’t know anyone who had “twilight” during labor. Possibly my mothers generation did, but not mine. Natural birthing was the norm and my husband and I attended Lamaze classes together. So, yes my generation is qualified to give birthing advice. Also, fuzzyferret is a Birthing specialist so I think she probably knows what she’s talking about; grandmother or not.

      Delete
    17. I agree that they have way too many people in a birth room at hospitals normally. Just tell them you don't want that many though.

      Delete
    18. 11:29, I’m glad you had a great birth experience in a hospital! Sadly for many women that’s not the case.

      Delete
    19. 7:04, you are correct, I was thinking of what would now be your mother’s generation (my grandmother’s generation, she had children a bit older), my mistake. And I’m aware that fuzzyferet is a birth specialist, however as she lives in a different country she is not up to date with how things are run in hospitals in America. Another thing I would like to acknowledge is how you say natural births were the norm in your day. Sadly today getting an epidural is widely encouraged, which also lead to more unnecessary interventions in many instances, eg, higher rates of csections, vacuum suction, higher risk of tearing, episiotomies, etc. Many women are made to feel like getting an epidural is the norm and you’d be crazy not to get one. Women are powerful and fully capable of giving birth, but in today’s society birth has been turned into an event that should be feared when it is one of the most natural things in the world. It’s very sad.

    4. 11:47, You can now know the gender with a blood test, I'm expecting a girl and we did the DNA test as soon as 12 weeks. It's wonderful what technology and science allows us to do now. It's not possible with twins though, because babies DNAs can't be isolated from one another.

It will be fun to see and hear about the similarities and differences between their pregnancies, births, and the unique personalities and looks these babies will have. I wonder if any will use Mary in the name like Maryanne, Marianna, Maryellen, or something like that in honor of grandma Mary.

Tired of people saying someone should name their daughter after grandma. Don't get me wrong, grandma was a wonderful person, but it doesn't mean any of the kids need to name their kids after her.

      Delete
    3. It’s not about needing to. I would think they may want to use the name Mary as a gesture of love and may want to honor their grandmother with a name. They will find their perfect name for their perfect child. I don’t believe naming a child should be about pleasing anybody but the parents.

      Delete
    2. The Duggar name is going to become as populous as the Smith name.

      Delete
    3. I think when it goes down to younger kids, Michelle and Jim Bob wold not even remember the names of these grandchildren. Now it is 13, will be 17 in the Fall, and in 5 years it might be 20 more... They all should wear different color shirts at their reunions or name tags :). Not each of their 19 children will have 19 as well, and most probably they won't. But at least 5-6 each will give over a 100 grandchildren. And if each of these grandkids has 5-6 own kids, then it'll be 500-600 great-grandkids... That's like a whole small town only of Duggars. I find it amazing because Jim Bob has only one sister himself, and now he might have thousand of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

      Delete
    4. That’s just silly. Of course Jim Bob and Michelle will remember their grandchildren’s names unless they are elderly with dementia -type issues. I taught school and remembered the names of many many students. And your grandchildren are even more special to remember.

      Delete
    5. Half of them won't be Duggars officially, as the daughters marry and take spouse's name. But yeah, like 10 sons can have like 10 kids each, and so it will be 100 little Duggars running around. I wonder if they will be able to name their kids differently or some names will repeat.

I wish them all the best for the post partum weeks as well as I know that time is really life changing, especially with your firstborn. I'm beyond excited for Lauren and Siah! It was heartbreaking to hear of their loss. I'm sure the moms to be will get a lot of help from the doting fathers and what a blessing to go through this special time together with your sisters in law. I was pregnant with my first alongside my youngest big sister carrying her last (she's 9 years my senior) and it was really special to the both of us. We've always had a special bond, but going through a pregnancy together just made the bond stronger.

  43. I think they should build some Duggar school building, because it's just irrational for each girl to homeschool her kids on her own, since all the cousins are of similar age anyway and majority live in the same area.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That is a great idea! Each Mom could choose a subject and all could share the responsibility. The kids have great socialization too.

      Delete
    2. I don't know that I'd call it irrational, since most homeschool moms actually want the experience of working with their own children. However, some sort of co-op amongst them could be very beneficial.

      Delete
    3. @ 10.13. It makes sense to me. However, I believe that each person may have different ideas as to what to teach.

      Delete
    4. Defeats the purpose. It is no longer homeschooling. Set up their own private school and get it accredited by the State.

Plus, how do your fire your sister or sister-in-law from teaching your kids. They are NOT all good teachers nor have the ability nor educational background to teach certain subjects.

      Delete
    5. @8:57 Would they be entitled to take state government money if they became a school like that? Because the Duggars aren't supposed to be living off the government.

      Delete
    6. 10:06 Private schools cannot receive government aid.

      Delete
    7. 8:57 - They don't want the state involved. Many homeschoolers teach their kids in groups. It wouldn't be anything new.

      Delete
    8. No offense Anonymous @8:57, but not all certified teachers, with good educational backgrounds, are good teachers or have the ability to teach. An entire class in my high school suffered through 9 months of Algebra-Trig. The teacher had tenure and couldn't be fired, even though finals had to be curved so much that I "passed" with a 45 and it was one of the highest grades in the class (which was a hit to my GPA, mind you). I received an A in the same course the following year in college, with an excellent teacher, who actually knew how to teach math. I can't speak for the Duggars' education, but doing the coursework, student teaching, and passing certification exams don't automatically equal good teachers.

      Delete
    9. @8:57 am - Ben was in one show, teaching a whole group of younger Duggars. They probably can do group teaching as long as it is a family member. I also don't think certified teachers are so much different just because they have certification. There are tons of bad teachers in schools. And in case your mom or aunt is teaching you, kids would be more open to ask questions if they don't understand something.

      Delete
    10. That would be perfect! One mom could pick smaller kids, the other - bigger kids, some can do different subjects. Right now they have Israel, 4, Meredith, will be 4 in July, Spurgeon 3.5, Henry, 2.5. They all can learn similar things. Or at least one thing together. Each mom probably wants to spend time without own kids too.

      Delete
    11. Gee, wonder why they don't want to get the state involved.

  44. Girls grow into women who are adult humans, Americans, voters, and thinkers with talents, capabilities and potential just like boys and men. Truly loving parents will raise their daughters to become their very best selves. That includes developing their potential, teaching them necessary life skills, and nurturing them into capable adults with autonomy and an ability to provide for themselves. Any belief system that encourages the stifling of girls and women so that they remain dependent on men should be strongly questioned and challenged. The words and teachings of Jesus Christ during his life are clearly captured in the Gospels. If a person calls themselves a Christian - a follower of Christ - then they ought to pay the most attention and value to the lessons of Christ, not of one of his other followers or of the leader of a church or the developer of pamphlets and booklets. Girls should be taught their worth and character exist in their thoughts and actions, not in certain parts of their body.
