ReplyDeleteShe looks like Jinger. Pretty girl.
ReplyDeleteI actually thought she looks like Felicity, Jinger’s daughter. She is a very cute little baby. It’s nice Jessa had a little girl after her two lovely boys.
DeleteI think she looks like Felicity too!
DeleteI think so too. Very much like Lissy!! Pretty baby girls!!
DeleteShe really looks like Felicity.
DeleteFelicity's deadringer
DeleteAdorable! She also reminds me of Felicity. How sweet that she arrived on Grandma Mary’s birthday and on Austin and Joy’s anniversary! Congratulations to this sweet family.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute baby!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the world, little Ivy Jane!!! I love that name. Congratulations to Jessa, Ben and big brothers Spurgeon and Henry!
ReplyDeleteI love the name Ivy too. My friend just had twin girls and named them, Ivy Roshell and Violet Nicola, beautiful names!!
DeleteYay!!! I am so happy for them!!! I was hoping it was a girl!
ReplyDeleteIvy is just beautiful. Congratulations to all from SC.
ReplyDeleteShe is adorable! I think she looks like a dark haired Henry!
ReplyDeleteI thought she looked just like Henry too.
DeleteCongratulations Jess and Ben. God has Blessed you with a beautiful little girl to add to your wonderful family. So excited for you guys.
ReplyDeleteYa she look like Felicity!!! Jessa she's beautiful, and I hope U are doing great!!! She looks like she weighed 9/10 pounds, LOL healthy baby, and I hope U had a safe delivery!!!! I love U 4!!!!!
ReplyDeleteShe weighed 7lbs 14oz lol
DeleteJust wanted to say congratulations on the birth of your little girl she is absolutely beautiful .I am glad all went well with your delivery and she is a beautiful happy and healthy little girl may God continue to bless you and your family and keep everyone safe always.
ReplyDeleteI agree Ivy looks like Felicity.
ReplyDeleteSo happy Jessa’s delivery was quick and at home and apparently very safe.
Congratulations on your new little blessing.
Oh how sweet!!!congratulations!!!🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🍼🍼👾🆕😄😄😄
ReplyDeleteShe is so adorable
ReplyDeleteIvy?! That's a nice shocker!! I was not going to find out the name but its ok! She is sooo cute! I cant picture her with the Seewalds though. To me the name just does not fit in. IDK why. I cant picture them holding her
ReplyDeleteYou can't picture the name or the little girl? Why can't you picture her with the Seewalds? It is their baby so I am not understanding why you can't picture them holding her.
DeleteWhat are you babbling about??
DeleteWhat?!? You can't picture the proud parents holding their baby daughter?
DeleteWhat are you talking about? She's THEIR baby and they chose her name. Why would she not "fit in"?
DeleteI think it was just that they had two boys in a row
DeleteWhere are they going to stash 2 boys and a girl in that little house? They need Uncle Austin to build them an addition. Or Granddaddy Jim Bob to hand them a new house.
ReplyDeleteTime 5:37AM Wed 5/29/19
DeleteThat comment is rude. Grandaddy Jimbob to hand them a new house. Very rude. Iam happy for the newborn girl. Seems your not.
yes that's a tight squeeze. Erin/Chad Paine needs upgraded house too! They are cute little homes but not for families that expand alot.
DeleteWell Ivy will be in their room for about a year, so it’s not quite time to worry about that.
DeleteReading these comments makes me realize how spoiled so many of us are. To have the audacity to say a very nice, 2Br house is isn’t good enough for a young family of 5 is just mind blowing to me. The Seewalds have more comforts and space than most people in this world, and hopefully they are appreciative for it instead of greedy for more like some of the commenters here.
DeleteI always smile at these comments with people wanting massive houses. I have a relative with four kids in a room (two bunk beds). I have many relatives with two kids per room. I know most people want the babies as far away as possible in modern society but many families still want to keep the baby in the parents' room for the first year.
DeleteAre you having a laugh? as we say in the UK? It's no big deal. Got a next door neighbour with four kids in a two bedroom apartment.
DeleteDoesn’t anyone recall Michelle and Jim Bob’s ranch with 5 kids at the car lot or the house prior to the big one had 14 kids squished in there!
DeleteIt's not hard to fit 3 or even 4 children in a bedroom. We did it when I was growing up and we did it with our kids. That's what bunk beds are for!
DeleteJessa is NOT going to relive her own young years in a tiny house with lots of kids, I guarantee. They'll move or add on, you watch.
DeleteI grew up in a two/bedroom one/bath house with 3 sisters and all 4 of us girls slept in one bed, there may have been 2 beds at one point. Our neighbor had a 3 bedroom house talk about wow... but we were fine and happy.
DeleteIt's actually nice having your children close by. I have 6 children. We have a 3 bedroom house but one room is the office. So we have 4 kids in one room and two in my room. It works out great right now. Until they big bigger.
DeleteJessa mentioned adding an addition where the carport is. But I think they still have a year to think about it. And yes, all over the world while families share one bedroom. Even my grandparents who grew up in the us did this. My Ben and Jessa have the means so I'm sure they are in planning.
DeleteHonestly if they’re all young enough you can have four kids in a room. They play outside most of the time and in their living room so all their bedroom is really used for is sleeping. As long as you can fit enough beds in there they’ll be good. I could see the Seewalds living in that house for 2 or three more years before buying a bigger one.
DeleteYep, 4 kids in one room when one has a cold turns into all sorts of fun for the whole family......
DeleteThe boys will share a room and Ivy would need her own when she gets older
Delete12:41, if one of your kids gets a cold they’re all most likely going to get it anyways, so having all the kids in one room actually makes that easier lol
DeleteKids share rooms all the time. I even know a family who didn't add a 3rd bedroom until their kids were middle school age. Both kids (girl and boy) shared a bedroom. Bunk beds are a great invention!
DeleteWhat a blessing it is to have a home. I like a small one because it's less to clean and forces you to purge that which you don't need. Most of us have way too many possessions anyway.
DeleteYes,she looks like both her brothers because she looks like a mix of her parents, she's going to be a beauty, she could be a great match for your little mr. handsome in the future Ellie lol.
ReplyDeleteShe does look like Ginger and a little bit like Felicity. What a little bundle of preciousness. So happy for them!
ReplyDeleteI really had a feeling it would be a girl!!! She's a little bundle of joy, congrats to the couple!
ReplyDeleteHow did you know?
Delete8:46, it's just a gut feeling. I had the exact same feelings.
DeleteI had a feeling to!
Delete8:46, she didn't know.. she had a feeling. They are 2 very different things
DeleteThank god jessa had a much easier labor. She's beautify and makes me think of Felicity. I've always though Jessa and Jinger favor each other so makes sense.
ReplyDeleteShe's adorable. She looks like a mixture of Jessa and Ben. Can't wait to watch the gender reveal and birth on TV. I hope it is a one hour special. Hopefully soon! Congratulation Ben and Jessa on the birth of your beautiful daughter. Natasha B.
ReplyDeleteNo gender reveal. It was supposedly a secret from everyone.
DeleteI don’t think Jessa and Ben do gender reveals. That’s why no one knew if it would be a boy or girl. A gender reveal after the fact wouldn’t make much sense.
DeleteYay! Congrats. Best wishes.
ReplyDeleteI like her name and love the fact that it isn't "religious" like the 2 boys with Spurgeon and middle name of Henry, Wilberforce. The little girl has a "normal" name.
ReplyDeleteWhile some names might not be as commonly used as others, it’s that person’s normal. Like being born with red hair, or a physical difference.
DeleteThe names Wilber and Agatha, which happen to be my paternal grandparent’s names, were common once, like 2-3 generations ago, but names always roller coaster in popularity.
I had a friend that named her son Kody in 1994. Sounded crazy to me, but it’s their choice and became quite popular in the 90s.
My sister’s name is Mary and she married a male named Christian oddly enough, but no connotation toward religion in either case. Both family names and handed down, perhaps at one point it was.
How “normal” looks to each of us is vastly different!
Spurgeon and Wilberforce are both last names of religious movement individuals. Neither are meant for first names, but of course you can pick whatever name you want for your child. There are also a few famous religious Janes, but I doubt they were referring to them.
DeleteIt's not that uncommon to use last names as first names (Madison, Carter, Taylor, etc). They aren't "meant for first names" either.
DeleteIn seminary I met a girl whose name was Christa. Her parents were Mary and Joseph. Both parents were ministers and Christa was in sem to become a pastor.
DeleteThey could have named her Aimee Semple McPherson Seewald after the great evangelist. Or Katie Luther Seewald. 😏
DeleteWhat a beautiful baby. They are blessed to be part of a big and loving family. Not all of us are blessed with that. Prays for quick recovery for Jessa. May they enjoy that baby girl.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why the boys get Biblical names but not the girls.
ReplyDeletehuh? The names Spurgeon Elliot and Henry Wilberforce are not biblical names; they are named after honorable Christian men who were missionaries and/or leaders. Looking forward to Jessa and Ben sharing how they picked Ivy's name.
DeleteThe boys names are not bibilical. Inspired by missionaries yes, but not biblical. There could be plenty of reasons why they decided on this particular name for their little girl. Personally I love the name, and it would be nice if there is a story behind it, but absolutley fine to if they just happened to like those names for their babygirl.
DeleteHer boy names tor her sons are not biblical.
DeleteSpurgeon isn’t a biblical name. I’m not sure about Henry, but I’ve never read that name in the Bible. Their middle names are also not biblical.
DeleteSpurgeon and Henry aren’t biblical names, they were just named after Christian men.
DeleteI don't think Henry and Spurgeon are "Biblical names".
DeleteI'm sure there are Christian women in the world named Ivy and Jane lol
DeleteYes, she definitely looks a lot like Felicity, and very adorable too.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Blessed wishes. 👣💖🎉
ReplyDeleteShe is adorable, but I don't understand the trend of gigantic bows on the heads of baby girls. They are ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteWhat looks ridiculous to some looks adorable to others, that's why. Just like some things that are in style right now look ridiculous to me.
DeleteShe's maybe a day old there and they're already dressing her up like she was a doll. I agree, it's ridiculous.
DeleteMaybe to you but not everyone. Judge much?
DeleteI agree 100% with you. But to each their own.
DeleteI think the giant bows are a Southern thing and I agree that they look ridiculous. I live in NJ and nobody does that with their daughters.
DeleteI don't understand either. When I had my daughter we put small plastic barrettes in her hair. Now they put gigantic bows when they have no hair, Lol. Agree either way she's adorable. Jane
DeleteI am from and live in the South and it is not a Southern thing I assure you.
DeleteHere we go again with the bows! Please, let's just enjoy this new birth and be happy for Ben, Jessa and the boys. How would you feel if folks were making these comments about your daughter? (Put the shoe on the other foot.)
DeleteI think Jessa put the rag-bow on her newborn daughters head because she sold the first rights to her daughter's pictures to a magazine, I believe the magazine was that USmagazine and probably wanted pictures with different head coverings on her.
DeleteMy cousins do the huge bow because they are tired of everyone saying what a cute boy! I did not do a bow with my daughter and had a good laugh when people would say boy and I would ask them why and they would say, well the hair is so short. Yes, many babies and toddlers take a while for the hair to come in so that is why the hair is short.
DeleteI tried using those baby barrettes but they kept falling out of my daughter's hair. I think I would have liked these bows but not as large. I did use handmade bonnets for a bit.
DeleteMy daughter was born 21 years ago in Northern Ireland & I put large bows on her head from birth. I used to buy them to match her outfits, in fact some of her dresses came with headbands with bows attached, so I don’t necessarily think it’s a southern thing as my daughter was born thousands of miles away from Arkansas & I dressed her very similarly to how Jinger & now Jessa dress their daughters.
Delete11:25, what part of the south do you live in? I’ve lived in four southern states and most babies I’ve seen wear big bows lol
Delete@11:28AM If people kept telling me over and over that a huge bow on my baby's head looked silly, I'd listen to them. Actually, I wouldn't have a bow on her head in the first place, so that shoe doesn't need to go anywhere.
DeleteWe used to wear huge eye glasses, clip in bows and high waisted jeans in the 80’s. Big teased hair too. That was in and you were stylin’!
DeleteOh wait some of that is returning 🤪😆
I just got back from a trip to Northern Ireland, and it was beautiful. I absolutely loved Ireland. I’m from Tennessee, and most people I know put big bows on little girls hair from birth! Some bows are bigger than the babies’ head. I most certainly put bows in my little girl’s hair. Love the bows! :)
Delete6:37, so you let other people’s opinions rule your life? That doesn’t sound very wise. Most people like the big bows, if it’s not your baby then you get no say in what she wears.
DeleteAnon 10.12pm. I’m so glad you enjoyed your trip to Northern Ireland. My parents were from there but unfortunately had to leave when I was a young child as they had a mixed marriage between catholic & Protestant & as such suffered huge discrimination, so for safety reasons they left & moved to England. As an adult in her 20s I returned to live there with my then husband & our 2 children were born in Belfast, my daughter was actually born on the day of the good Friday agreement. Northern Ireland has wonderful scenery & amazing people, I no longer live there but I miss it every day. I hope you got a chance to see the giants causeway & the Antrim coast as it is stunningly beautiful. I would also like to visit your country, my son has actually just returned from America today & he loved his stay, he thought you had the nicest friendliest people & he actually commented that they were a lot like the people of ulster. I’m glad you also like the bows on the head as I have always thought they are very cute, my daughter had lots of them. I really don’t know why they bother people so much, surly so long as they are not causing harm (like being too tight) then surly it’s up to a child’s parents what the put on their child.
DeleteNo, I wouldn't let anonymous commenters make my decisions.
Delete6:37 if people told me I shouldn't be putting bows on my daughter I would do it more. It's my choice what my babies wear. She's a girl she should look like a girl
DeleteIt's not the cutest bow I've ever seen, but sure is a cute baby!
DeleteI really don't understand the animosity toward putting a bow on a baby's head.
Delete"She's a girl she should look like a girl" That's a pretty sexist statement. How DO girls look? They have long hair, they have short hair, they wear pants, they wear skirts, they wear uniforms, they work construction, they work in factories, they serve our country, they teach our kids, they nurse our elderly and infirm, they run corporations, they even enter scholarship pageants -- and they do EVERYTHING in between. There is no ONE WAY a girl should look!!!
DeleteSome of you who keep going on about big bows on a baby's head need to get over it already. You really sound like broken records at this point. So predictable.
DeleteShe's adorable. I love the big bows. They weren't in style when my daughter was a baby or she would have worn them. After having two boys I bet Jessa will have fun dressing her daughter. Glad she had a safe and shorter labor and delivery.
DeleteShe's adorable. I love the big bows. They weren't in style when my daughter was a baby or she would have worn them. After having two boys I bet Jessa will have fun dressing her daughter. Glad she had a safe and shorter labor and delivery.
DeleteCongrats, she’s gorgeous ‼️
ReplyDeleteThrilled for them! So happy she had a girl!
ReplyDeleteboy does she ever favor Felicity....too cute congratulations
ReplyDeleteCongrats she is adorable
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!
ReplyDeletei think she looks like ben's mom!
ReplyDeleteI agree, although she does have dark hair. Henry is the one who really reminds me of Guinn Seewald, except for the curly hair which he gets from his mom.
DeleteWhat a cutie!
ReplyDeleteFinally, One of Jessa and Ben’s kids with a nice name! Happy she had a girl!
ReplyDeleteI was hoping they'd go with a flower name like Rose, but Ivy is good.
DeleteShe looks a lot like Felicity.
ReplyDeleteShe sure does!
DeleteI agree. Same eyes and nose.
DeleteShe's absolutely adorable Ben and Jessa! Congrats on your new angel baby girl!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the Seewald family! I was hoping you would have a baby girl. Ivy Jane is a adorable baby girl with a adorable name. Jane.
ReplyDeleteCongratulation! Ivy is so cute.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your beautiful baby girl God bless you all.
ReplyDeletePeople Magazine is carrying the news of baby Ivy's birth, but the story has Spurgeon's age as 28 months, rather than 3 yrs 7 months (43 months) and Henry's age as 13 months, rather than 2 yrs 4 months (28 months).
ReplyDeleteThis is why it's crazy to rush to get a story out with these magazines.
DeleteCongratulations,Jessa and Family. Welcome to the world, Ivy Jane!! God Bless. We love you guys.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Jane is after Lady Jane Grey who was crowned Queen of England between Henry VIII’s children, Edward and Mary. She was a strong Protestant lady and is significant in church history. Certainly a wonderful role model for little Ivy.
ReplyDeleteYou were correct! Jessa and Ben explained that Lady Jane Grey was the inspiration behind Ivy's middle name. Good job knowing your church history.
Deleteshe looks like a newborn baby. like all other newborns agnes berlin ohio christian
ReplyDeleteExactly. I've never understood these claims a newborn "looks like" someone.
DeleteIt would be rather odd if she didn't look like a newborn baby.
DeleteJust because you can’t pick out resemblances in new born babies doesn’t mean no one else can. I’ve never understood when people say “all newborn babies look the same”. Some people are just more observant than others.
DeleteIf newborns didn't look like anyone, then they'd all look alike, which they don't.
DeleteAnon 12:57. ??? Newborns don't all "look alike" but I've never seen one with adult features that I could say he or she looks like any adult member of their family. There is a strong resemblance to Felicity's newborn photos with Ivy, but who knows how long that will last?
DeleteAnon 4:38. Since there are people saying Ivy looks like Jinger, looks like Jessa, looks like Ben, looks like Ben's mother, I'm a bit confused as to what they're seeing. She can't possibly "look like" that many different people at the SAME time. IMO new born babies don't all look alike, but they don't resemble adult relatives either.
Delete3:25, different people see different things. Personally I think she looks a lot like Henry, but see no resemblance to Felicity (I think some people just WANT to think they look alike lol)
Delete2:45 -- If you've never noticed that a baby looks like one of his/her parents or a sibling at that age, then I don't know what to tell you. Maybe you're not a very observant person?
DeleteAnon 10:13. You're right. People just see whatever they ant to see and come to their own conclusions.
Delete4:02, it's not just seeing what you want to see. With no preconceived notions of what she would look like, my immediate thought when I saw Ivy's first picture was that she reminded me of Felicity. I don't think that with the other pictures I've since seen of her.
DeleteIvy Jane... simple and sweet! She came early and on her Great Grandma Mary birthday!
ReplyDeleteWhat is the Biblical & Christian heroes significance of her name? We know how important it is to Ben & Jessa to name their children with strong religious leadership ties.
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable little girl. I love the name Ivy. Congratulations from the Netherlands.
ReplyDeleteI love your name, Saskia.
DeleteSo cute! I think she looks like her older brother spurgent.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Ben & Jessa! Welcome Ivy Jane!! I wonder if the Duggar family ever got that group photo of all of the moms to be?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering the same thing!
DeleteThey were talking about it, but Jessa may have had the baby before it was taken.
DeleteYes they did
DeleteCongratulations ;)
ReplyDeleteI am going to try to guess:
Kendra is having another boy
Anna is having also a boy
Lauren probably a girl
And Joy also a girl
*just guessing* wondering of anything would be correct
I’m guessing all girls this time
DeleteQuick thuis time with naming the baby, guess practice makers perfect😂
ReplyDeleteMaybe they've had this name waiting since an earlier pregnancy. :)
DeleteCongratulations! Ivy Jane is beautiful! I'm interested to know how you chose her name. Be ready for all the comments about the bows and headbands. If they had these when my girls were little, they probably would have worn them! They are so cute!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! She's adorable!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! She's so adorable and i can't wait to see her grow up, i'm so glad it's a girl!!! When i first saw the picture i thought it was a throwback of Felicity!
ReplyDeleteMy first thought is that she looks a lot like Spurgeon! I absolutely love the name. Congrats!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts on how they selected her name. (Assuming it wasn’t just because they liked Ivy Jane!)
There are several Christian missionaries in history named “Jane” or had the middle name of “Jane”. Several sounded like missionaries Ben would know about and admire. Here is a list, sorry you will have to scroll and look for “Janes”. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Female_Christian_missionaries. As for “Ivy”, I’m thinking Jessa just liked the name and it means “faithfulness”.
MY OPINION ONLY
Interesting! I'm looking forward to hearing the meaning behind the name too.
DeleteLady Jane Grey was also beheaded. Not a good role model. Read your history.
ReplyDeleteJim Elliot was also killed but Spurgeon was still named after him. Everyone dies, just because someone died in a more brutal way doesn’t mean you can’t name your kid after them.
DeleteHer being beheaded has nothing to do with whether she was a good role model or not.
DeleteWhat's your name? I'm sure we can find a historical person with the same name who met a gruesome death.
DeleteElliots should have never gone to a place like that. He and the other men were killed by the Tribe. Missionary's have become martyrs
Delete8:48, “The Tribe” as you say all ended up excepting Jesus as their savior later on. All the men’s wives went and lived with them for a time. There’s actually a movie about it but I can’t remember the name.
Delete8:48, not true. Even though the five were tragically killed, God brought beauty from ashes. The tribe was eventually reached for Christ. Many people went to the mission field as a result of this. The Bible tells us that there is a special reward in heaven for martyrs. This life is such a short blip, and God used theirs in many ways for eternity. Read the books by Elisabeth Elliot for another perspective.
Delete8:48 -- Eliot went where God led. And God never makes mistakes!
DeleteReally Lady Jay Grey, was an amazing person, who got her head removed, cause she was Protestant, King Edward Tudors, was Protestant, he Ed. wanted England to remain Protestant, and His sister Mary was Catholic!!! So Edward forced Jane to take the Queenship, cause he knew Mary would make England Catholic, and she did. But Jane was a used figure, and she died a martyr!!!
Delete! more thing I forgot to mention Edward was dying, he died at 15 year old, so he was trying to find someone who was not Catholic to pass his power too!!!
DeleteShe was born on my brothers bday
ReplyDelete🎀🍼💝🌺👶🏻Welcome little girl 👶🏻🌺💝🍼🎀
ReplyDeleteI love her name! She looks just like Felicity to me! I love her bow! She's adorable!
ReplyDeleteWhat a little darling. She is so cute and looks like her cousin Felicity! Welcome to the world Ivy Jane. Congrats Seewald family. Eileen
ReplyDeleteBeautiful baby girl. Only missed the birthday by 3.5 hours. Little more off about her weight. Right that it would be a girl. Looks like Jessa and Spurgeon.
ReplyDeleteShe is adorable! Looks like her cousin Felicity!
ReplyDeleteWOW! she is adorable! i hope everything went well, she does look like cousin felicity!!! aslo i love the name!!!
ReplyDeleteIvy is adorable I think she looks like Spurgeon as a baby with the dark hair a
ReplyDeleteIvy jane is a beauty with her dark hair and coloring looks like Spurgeon win he was a baby
ReplyDeleteShe is so cute her dark hair and coloring looks like Spurgeon as a baby
ReplyDeleteI wonder if she'll have beautiful curls like Spurgeon.
DeleteGuess Ben's football team will be co-ed now.
ReplyDeleteI've heard a lot from family and friends this week commenting on sweet Ivy's name because that's our baby girl's name! She's 9 months old and we named her Ivie Jane!! I thought it was so unique so I was shocked when I heard Ben and Jessa had named their baby the same. We chose Ivie (we used a different spelling) because it means "faithful." We chose Jane because it means "Jehovah has been gracious" and he certainly has! She's a sweet blessing as is sweet Ivy Seewald! Congratulations Ben and Jessa!
ReplyDelete
