She is Grandma Duggar to some and Great-Grandma Duggar to others, but no matter what you call her, this lady is blessed beyond measure. By the end of this year, after Jessa, Anna, Joy, Kendra, Lauren, and cousin Amy have had their babies, Mary Duggar will have 18 great-grandchildren. (She has 20 grandchildren, so her greats will soon outnumber her grands!) Happy 78th, Miss Mary! Today is also Joy and Austin Forsyth's two-year wedding anniversary.

What an amazing legacy for this lady to have. All these amazing grandchildren & great grandchildren & she only had 2 children herself. I have 2 children & cant imagine ever having such a large amount of grand babies. Wow it’s amazing & grandma Mary is amazing too. Happy birthday to this very special lady.

ReplyDeleteI think grandma Duggar never expected to have so many grandkids or great-grandkids... She had only 2 children herself and probably expected each of her kids will have 2-3 kids each... And then her son (Jim Bob) started having kids, and now oops - she has 20 grandkids! And 12 great-grandkids now. If each of her grandkids has at least 5 children (well, Amy probably won't, but I'm sure others will have more than 5, and Josh is already having his 6th child), then she will have like 100 great-grandkids. I wish they had a picture of the Grandma Duggar with all her family, and separately with her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. They did a picture of Michelle and Jim Bob with their grandkids, they should do it with grandma.

ReplyDeleteIt's funny that you mention that because the first time I met her, she introduced herself as "Grandma Duggar." And every time I have seen her after that, I have called her Grandma Duggar. She embraces her role as a grandmother and loves it.

Lovely response Ellie. Many years ago my grandmother (whom I was never lucky enough to meet), had 14 children, including my dad. She went on to have over 100 grandchildren & she was known to everyone as Gran O'Neil, not only to all her grandchildren but to everyone who knew her in Enniskillen where she lived. She loved her grandma status & was also very happy to be address by everyone as such.

Yes! Only 2 children, Jim Bob and his sister Deanna (Amy's mom). 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren expected by the end of the year!
DeleteIt's amazing how the Lord works things out sometimes! I knew someone who they said always wanted a big family but she just had 1 child. Her son had 3 children and 6 stepchildren. He had 4 grandchildren and a step granddaughter just from his 3 children. At the time this woman passed away in her 90s, she had a combined 9 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren!
