Jessa and Ben Seewald have welcomed their third child, and it's a girl! Ivy Jane Seewald was born at home on Sunday, May 26th, at 5:57pm, after a three-and-a-half-hour labor. She arrived 10 days before her due date weighing 7 lbs, 14 oz, and measuring 20.5 inches long. Us Weekly has the first photo.

ReplyDeleteshes adorable๐๐๐๐๐
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the Seawald family! I just prayed this morning, Lord, let Jessa have her baby today and please let it be a girl. But she actually already had the baby ๐ฎ
ReplyDeleteShe is a fantastic mother to her son’s and she will be a wonderful mom to her daughter! One of the reasons I love the Duggar’s is because of the love that they have for children! Also the Bates! These two are amazing and Godly families!
Thank you so much for the great news! You are amazing too Ellie!
It seemed pretty clear they both wanted another boy but I am sure they are delighted with this adorable baby!
DeleteThey both said it would probably be a boy but I thought they were hoping for a girl. Jessa went nuts in Laredo over shopping for girl clothes ๐
DeleteNo, they wanted a girl. They said they thought it was a boy. They probably didn’t want to get their hopes too high.
DeleteJessa and Ben knew the gender of their baby, they didn’t let the rest of us in on it till she was born. I think they both said boy to keep us guessing.
DeleteWhen they announced that they were expecting baby number three, they said that they thought it'd be a boy because they have enough things for another boy but that they'd start over for a girl. I'm sure they are so excited for this new addition in their family.
DeleteI've noticed that when couples say "I think it is a boy" it generally means "I hope it is a boy." And vice versa. Jessa and Ben seem to like having a bunch of boys, and having a boy is more prestigious in their circles. But this little girl will be loved, I am sure.
Delete8:26- Why on earth would they think having a boy is more prestigious? There’s no talent or skill involved with having one. Certainly, men are not smarter!
DeleteI think they wanted a passel of boys.
DeleteI don't think they'll ever adopt. It gets harder and harder to adopt, the more kids you already have. Assuming they want a baby (and I bet they do), no birthmother will choose them if they have 3-4 other kids living in a two bedroom home.
DeleteI see zero evidence that people in their circles find boys more prestigious. To what where you referring?
DeleteA very long time ago Ben said that when he was a child or teenager he was dreaming that he will have 15 sons. So it's possible that they wanted another boy. But I'm sure they are thrilled to have a girl since it comes with bows, dresses, and they already have 2 boys. Spurgeon will be happy to have a little sister in addition to a little brother.
DeletePercious name for a beautiful little lady.
ReplyDeleteCongrats...great size baby too
ReplyDeleteI was so surprised she had a girl! I didn't think she'd make it to her June due date, though; she looked ready to burst a week ago. Beautiful name they chose. Congratulations! I thought for sure they had another boy coming.
ReplyDeleteGood news. So glad all is well. I was hoping for a girl.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations so cute
ReplyDeleteCongrats
ReplyDeleteMy that was a quick labor. And a reasonable sized baby for a change. Lovely name.
ReplyDeleteYeah, finally a girl!
ReplyDeleteShe is adorable! Congratulations. A baby girl to hang out with Felicity!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations what a beautiful name wish you all the best!๐ผ๐๐๐ธ๐ผ๐
ReplyDeleteGreat news! A little girl for those big brothers to help care for. Excited to see pictures.
ReplyDeleteSo happy for her that she finally had a smaller baby and quick delivery! ☺

ReplyDeleteJoan, Marion and Marilyn
Welcome to the world Ivy Jane. God Bless.
ReplyDeleteJoan,Marion and Marilyn
Congratulations
ReplyDeletecongrats, this is the first double birthday that isn't twins, since she was born on her great-Grandma Mary birthday.
ReplyDeleteAnd born right on Grandma Mary Duggar's birthday. How wonderful! And on Joy and Austin's anniversary. May 26th is a busy day
ReplyDeleteOh, how nice! I didn't make the connection. I love the name. I hope they talk about why they chose it.
DeleteThat makes it an extra special birthday! I was born on my grandma's birthday, and I was the first granddaughter after two grandsons.
DeleteI was born on my grandma's birthday too. I was the first grandchild (granddaughter) on both sides of my family. It's definitely extra special! Congratulations Ben and Jessa!
DeleteI am so happy for them!! I was hoping it was a girl! The name is super cute!!

Congratulations!!!!!babies are the greatest ever!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Jess and Ben. Ivy looks so sweet and precious.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to a lovely family! Little Ivy has two big brothers to watch out for her!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for them!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the birth of Ivy Jane. I didn’t think Jessa would go to her due date, the picture she posted last week looked like the baby was very close. So glad she was a Pettit little girl compared to the big boys she had previously. I love the name too, Ivy is just such a pretty name.
ReplyDeleteI always associate the name Ivy with England as my mother had a friend from there named Ivy. She was such a dear and loved her tea.
DeleteYou know your right anon, Ivy is quite an English name, I know quite a few Ivy’s. Most English people do like their tea. I call my daughter Mrs pots the teapot as she drinks so much of it & she is only 21. She has always loved tea since tasting it as a 14 year old, she is quite particular too, it needs to either be twinnings English breakfast tea, or twinnings Earl Grey.
DeleteCongratulations! Beautiful baby girl. Love the name.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! Another girl!! How wonderful!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!
ReplyDeleteCute little one and sweet name. I am glad Jessa's labor was short .
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Ben and Jesse and family. Are still on TLC?
ReplyDeleteYay!! I was hoping it would be a girl. But thinking it would probably be another boy.
ReplyDeleteHappy for them!
I love that Felicity and Ivy have almost the same age difference as Jessa and Jinger do. Hopefully those two grow up to be just as close!
ReplyDeleteFelicity is moving to LA, so they won’t be as close as Jessa and Jinger are. They’ll probably only see each other a few times a year at most.
DeleteJeremy & Jinger w. Felicity are moving to California which will prevent Ivy being close to her cousin at least for the time being.
DeleteShe will have lots of cousins who live right around her to grow up close to. There are a few of them giving birth this year.
DeleteI don't think that will happen as the cousins will be living in different households.
DeleteHope she likes to play football because Ben wanted that team.
ReplyDeletedid Jill deliver Jessas baby at home?
ReplyDeleteGood question, I am curious too. With the Bates wedding 5/25 there is a good chance many Duggars could have been in Tennessee.
DeleteI don’t believe Jill still has her midwife license. She may have been at the birth but she wouldn’t have been the one delivering Ivy.
DeleteWho knows. Perhaps she was there and had someone who was qualified to do the actual delivery with her.
DeleteCongrats to them on their girl! Name is sweet
ReplyDeleteCongratulations guys on the birth of your goroeous and sweet little girl, I love her name, its so cute.
ReplyDeleteLove from a fan in australia
Awww she's so adorable
ReplyDeleteOnly 3.5 hrs of labor? She really didn't want to wait to come into this world, did she? She's beautiful Ben & Jessa! Congratulations & God bless!
ReplyDeleteWonderful news! And a down-to-earth name, too! She's so cute! Ivy & Felicity will be great friends & cousins! Adorable. Congratulations! ๐ผ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐๐
ReplyDeleteI think a ivy looks like Felicity. Both babies are beautiful. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteMom and I want to say congrats. Love the name. She's so pretty. She and Felicity look a lot alike.
ReplyDeleteCouple of questions for Abbie~
ReplyDelete1. How do you keep your curly hair from losing it's definition overnight/how do you refresh/reactivate it in the morning?
2. Is you hair frizz free?
Also, if you don't mind, I would appreciate it if you would share you're hair care routine!
Thank you so much!!
Many blessings,
Rachel
Rachel: I don't think Abbie is going to see your questions under this topic. It might be better to repeat them when the day's posting is about Abbie and John, since she's more likely to be reading the comments and questions there. I'm sure others would like to know, too.
DeleteHi Rachel,
DeleteHere's a post that might be helpful :)

Lily and Ellie
Lily/Ellie-
DeleteIs there any way y'all could get those questions to her? If not, I'll just wait till the next post y'all do about them/her and re-post it.
Thank you!
She looks like her Father. She is soooo cute.
ReplyDeletewow! jessa and ben i am so happy for y'all!!! i hope everything went well!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!! I love the name Ivy! My son has a friend with the name Ivy :)
ReplyDeleteA girl!! What a wonderful blessing!! Ivy is adorable. Good to hear your labor was so short. Congratulations Ben and Jessa! Jessa, you look amazing!
ReplyDeleteWow, Jessa probably was very happy that the labor was so short, and the baby is very decent size. Her babies are smaller and smaller, she probably corrected her diet. Though she was saying this pregnancy she had a bigger bump.
