In honor of Abbie's 27th birthday, which was yesterday, below is a new photo of the newlywed couple. They have been married coming up on six months, and they are loving their life together. This is Abbie's first spring in Arkansas, as she is from Oklahoma. What are your favorite spring activities? Do you like to hike?

ReplyDeleteI’m always surprised when I see them hiking in sandals. I also remember when they did that survival episode, and some of the girls were in skirts with no leggings and flip flops.
DeleteI think it would be wise for them to invest in a pair of good sneakers. They can last a really long time and can be put to really good use
Merrell, Teva, Columbia, Chaco and other outdoor gear companies make great hiking sandals. I have a couple pair. What she's wearing looks similar.

DeleteIf that's all we need to know, then why are the on the show? I can see it now... Each episode of Counting On begins with talking heads of the couples. "We're still man and wife," says each couple. Then the closing credits roll. The whole show is 60 seconds long. Cut to 59 minutes of commercials for Outdaughtered and Sister Wives.

DeleteJohn said that HE doesn't have an issue with Abbie working as a nurse. Just because JIM BOB thinks that women should be at home, it doesn't mean that the BOYS will require their wives to be stay at home wives.

DeleteMost likely she’s going back to work. She was saying that she was in the process of getting her nursing license transferred from Oklahoma to Illinois.

Delete3:17pm, My dad works for Grace Dental & Medical Missions. Abbie and John-David would be a HUGE asset on any mission field, even Japan! I grew up there, and the people have WAY better and FREE medical services compared with the scratch and dent American medical system. Thank you, Send John & Abbie our way. We are disabled.
DeleteThey look cute together. To answer your question, I like to plant vegetables in my garden. Here in our part of AZ we plant after Mother's Day after frost is gone. I'm not sure that's what people in other areas do. I'm not a hiker but I do enjoy walks in our neighborhood and I want to explore the many trails in our area.

These are decisions that belong to this couple, not us. Do you want people to judge how many kids you should have and when to have them? How about the public deciding whether you should work or not? Lay off the Duggars, Folks. It's not your place to judge.

DeleteI have learned, after being invited on a hike and getting laughed at when I showed up in full hiking gear, that some people refer to walking in a nature setting as "hiking." A dress is perfect for a nice walk.

ReplyDeletei hope we'll be seeing a lot of them this coming season. being older/more mature than most of the other siblings, it'll be interesting to watch them navigate this exciting time of their lives. (and i dont mean to imply that anyone is 'immature', i mean they are more mature only because of age & life experiences) they target a different age group/audience which is a great ministry for a lot of people their age as john-david is such a wonderful role model for young men. cant wait to learn more about abbie but she seems like such a sweet person you cant help like her immediately!

DeleteThey have ! Abbie has had a paid job outside of her home and she was not chaperoned to do it and be a nurse... And John-David has also worked on his own, as a pilot and a constable, so he's been rather independent for a while !

ReplyDeleteThat is a nice photo with all of the fresh green trees in the background. But photos near cliff edges give me the creeps. I'm not going to start sharing any stories here.
ReplyDeleteThey aren't very close to the edge of the cliff so I don't think they're in any danger of falling. However, hiking in a pair of sandals is a very bad idea as they don't support your foot well and you risk foot and ankle injuries when walking on rough terrain in them.

DeleteLove hiking! Last week I hiked the rim of the Grand Canyon which was pretty scary at times. Don't mean to be a downer, but it looks like Abbie and John are standing on that rock in Arkansas where a college student fell recently. Where are they?

ReplyDeleteSo i assume you know them personally and know 100% they are delaying pregnancy. Thats what was being said about Si & Lauren that they were delaying but we did not what they were going through the whole time. So it may be their lifestyle and we've come accustom to the expectations but we also need to be considerate and wait for their announcement because we do not know what is happening or has happened.

DeleteJust because they haven't announced a pregnancy it doesn't mean they're "delaying childbearing". After the disappointment Lauren and Josiah had perhaps they're just delaying an announcement.
DeleteAs long as there's no kids during the first year or so, I think it's great. It's a better basis for a strong and happy marriage.

ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely dress that you can wear for a walk in nature on a bright day, especially if you want to look pretty for your new husband. These sandals are fine, they never said they were climbing a mountain. Everyone needs to get off their high horses !

ReplyDeleteHow fun! I visited Ireland on a college Lit Study Tour - all the way from Florida. I SO want to go to Arkansas, as I'm not sure I've ever been. My second family (not the Duggars, Ha! I wish . . .) are from the country by the lake, wherever-it-is in Arkansas. They recently moved back HOME, and my childhood BFF is engaged! AAAAAHhhhhh! Happy shriek.
