    1. You can tell one of them had 5 kids by the time he was 30, and one of them only had 1!

    2. Yes. Jeremy is vibrant and handsome. Josh just looks rather seedy and run down compared to him.

      Delete
    3. Excuse me??!! How dare you talk about Josh like that?! He may be more tired due to looking after more kids but he by no means looks seedy!!!

    4. Anon 7:21. Jim Bob looks fresher and healthier than Josh does. And just look at how many kids JB has.

    5. My dad has five kids and is turning 50 this year; he looks younger than Josh. The man really needs to take care of himself, if not for himself then for his wife and kids.

    6. Good grief people, Jeremy seems like he loves the spotlight and so he carries himself more for show, where Josh is more down to earth and lives a more simpler family life so I don't think he is worried about the latest fashions and how he dresses and appears for the public, which I find more realistic and refreshing actually.

      Delete
    7. I think Josh lives a tormented life and is fighting personal demons. That's not a "simpler" family life. Look at what the family put Josh through to try to rid him of his bad behaviors.

      Delete
    8. 10:11- I think Josh hasn't had any choice but to maintain a low profile, considering his history.

    9. Anon 2:06 Exactly. Last I heard he was selling used cars for JB.

  7. Happy 30th Birthday! I have a lot of admiration for Derick. He's lived his life with great adventure traveling to different parts of the world before and after marriage; going to college on a full 4-year scholarship majoring in business; attending ministry school for 1 year and now attending law school. I wish him the best and am interested to see where his life takes him and his family next.

    1. I think the best decision Derrick made was to opt out of having his family appear regularly as reality TV stars.

    2. 12:14 -- Totally agree. He showed real strength with that move, I thought.

  11. I'm sure Derick is a nice guy, but perhaps not the wisest. I still cannot get over how he insulted his employer, TLC, for their decision to show the journey of Jazz Jennings. I hope he's learned from his mistake, and that in the future, he won't bite the hand that feeds him.

    1. I wonder if he wanted to be done on the show but couldn’t leave because of his contract so he said what he did purposefully so that TLC would want him to leave.

    2. The 'world' is insulted with the Truth! What Derrick did was admirable. Jill & this sweet family are missed on 'Counting On', though. Happy birthday! πŸŽ‚

    3. 1:09 I don't agree with Derick's opinions regarding GLBT, but I guess there are different ways of looking at this. Yes, he bit the hand, so to speak. However, he's also stated that it was his decision to leave the show. If that's the case, maybe he should be commended for walking the talk by not continuing to do business with a media outlet that holds views in complete opposition to his own. That's more than can be said for the rest of the family.

    4. Jill said he's going to be "a voice for the voiceless" lawyer. I have no idea what she means by that and who in this country doesn't have a voice or a chance for legal representation that Derick could provide. Will he be doing all pro bono work? Be a public defender? It will be interesting to see what law firm hires this anything but "voiceless" man who readily shares opinions publicly on a wide range of topics, many of which concern the legal rights of others in this country.

      Delete
    5. That is sad that you think someone should compromise their beliefs just for money. I would never accept money for something against what I believe. Most people admire Derick's integrity.

      Delete
    6. If Derick didn't want to compromise his beliefs for money then he should never have gotten involved with a family whose business was a reality show. He should have been smart enough to see the conflict of interest before he ever appeared on TLC. If he thought he could make money and use the show as a platform, he was sadly mistaken about how both TLC and the public would accept that.

      Delete
    7. @2:57 I don't think people admire how Derick tried to get his opinion across.

      Delete
    8. Anonymous 4:11 I'm not insulted by Derick's "truth", just the way he expressed it.

      Delete
    9. 9:59 -- There are many organizations that take on cases people couldn't ordinarily afford. One that comes to mind is the American Center for Law and Justice.

    5. I am too! Too many people are being cowed into silence about their beliefs.

    6. Questions for 9:34PM: Do you think having beliefs means you can say bad things about people you don't even know who don't happen to share your beliefs? Having your say is one thing. Using particular people as examples or targets of your strongly-worded opinions is quite another. At what point do "beliefs" and "opinions" turn into "attacks"? Don't you see that line being crossed all the time? Is that OK? Do you think all religions are entitled to act that way in the name of their beliefs? I'd like to hear what you have to say about this.

    7. We will see if he actually becomes a lawyer. So far what I've seen is that he has trouble working to support his family, instead opting to take his wife and kids to dangerous parts of the world to be a missionary then a church based program of some kind and now going to school to be a lawyer...none of these paid a salary. Some people have trouble graduating to adult life, some, trouble working under a supervisor. From what I've seen it is my projection that when law school ends Derick will find yet another direction he wants to go. I also don't think we've seen the last of his behavior unbecoming to a christian. I hope I'm wrong for Jill and the boys sake.

  15. Happy 30th birthday Derick Michael Dillard, I really wish you and Jill will be back on counting on at least in the next 2 seasons of counting on officially. I can't wait for you and Jill to have baby number 3 . Natasha B

    1. Why do people keep pushing them to have more and more babies as soon as possible?

We know that Jill had complicated deliveries with both her kids, maybe he is giving her body a rest.
Also, we don’t know if she’s had a miscarriage like Lauren or Whitney Bates. Lauren mentioned on her instagram post that she was uncomfortable with people asking her all the time if she was pregnant when she had just gone through that.

Let them announce when they’ve got something to announce, in the mean time, let them enjoy their 2 kids.

    2. Me too. I love learning about the Dillards. They are caring, couageous, and adventurous. But I always had the feeling that they were never in it for the fame or glory, so while I do miss seeing them on the show,I'm not really suprised that they are choosing to spread the gospel in other ways.

    3. Natasha. I have learned to just enjoy today and not anticipate future events that may never take place. Stop and smell the roses.

    1. Teresa- I don't understand why some people like to ask others if they are going to have a child or more children. It's a very personal question. What do you expect them to say and is there a right answer for you? While not everyone would be bothered by it, I don't think it's safe to assume that everyone would feel the same. I was never comfortable being asked that question and I never ask someone else. You never know what they might be going through- infertility, miscarriage, or any number of reasons why a person may simply not want any or more kids.

    3. You should keep your mean remarks to yourself. Why would you visit a blog or website if your not a fan of the person/people for whom the blog is dedicated? Are you with the media? I wish that the moderator of this blog wouldn't post these non-fan comments. The rest of us don't care to read them.

    4. 9:21- Derick is free to practice whatever religion or principles he chooses. He just doesn't have the right to tell others how to live their lives or what to believe.

    5. You should not hold up the Bible while tearing down innocent others.

    6. @10.16 Just because someone posts a comment saying they don't like Derick, or support his principles does not mean they are not a fan of the Duggars in general. Though I read the comments on this post I havnt posted a message (just as I didn't on Josh's birthday). This is my personal choice & I feel it better to not say anything if you can't say something kind. However I feel it's wrong to assume just because they write they don't like Derick that they don't like like any of the Duggars. I do think it would be better to have just not posted at all. I love the Duggars & think they are a very inspirational family. I also love the married couples & love to see how they are all branching out with their own lives & families. My heart aches for Lauren & Josiah at the moment & their sad loss, & I was truly saddened for Anna when she was going through all the stress of what happened with josh, so please don't always assume just because someone says they don't like one family member that they don't like any of them. Though I do think it's hurtful to post such a thing & feel it's better to just have left commenting to those who do want to wish Derick greetings.

  22. Happy Birthday and God Bless YOU AND YOUR beautiful family. TREASURE every single day with your family now and forever. Time slips away faster than realized. It seems only like yesterday my DH turned 30 and got “so depressed” about being “over the hill” so to speak...... we laughed and celebrated with our dear friends and neighbor. Poof......... now my DH is almost 75 and sadly has dementia, early Alzheimer’s...... I would give anything to go back to that day when he turned 30....... ❤️❤️❤️but God is good and I know this is his plan, for a reason...... I just PRAY my strength will carry me forward.....

    1. What's he supposed to be fighting?

      Delete
    2. “Fight the good fight” is a Biblical reference. Paul said it as a way to encourage other believers to continue denying self, carrying their crosses, and following Him. It is an encouragement to fight the war sin wages against your own soul, as each day we are all tempted to personally turn our back to Jesus and His teachings. I’m not sure why the commenter above referenced this for Derick, since lately all I’ve been aware of regarding Derick has been almost the opposite of fighting the good fight, but still, an encouraging word can be like honey to the soul of even the most lost and bitter. I pray he WOULD fight the good fight.

  24. It is POSSIBLE to spread the gospel without judging and hurting. The best preacher I have ever heard left all the judging out of the sermon. It was all about love and acceptance, WHILST spreading the word of GOD.You can do that you know. Not to intentionally hurt or alienate certain people goes against every thing GOD taught. He is the ONLY judge and jury.By the way,I AM A DUGGAR FANπŸ˜‡πŸ•Š
