John-David Duggar and Abbie Burnett Duggar

"I love winter wonderland and cold."
-Abbie Duggar

This might just be the most unique Duggar honeymoon yet! Immediately following their November 3rd wedding, John and Abbie Duggar took a beach getaway. Now, they are on a second honeymoon that is drastically different than the first. It's freezing cold, and they are hoping to see the Northern Lights.

Follow the link below to watch John and Abbie's video message from Finland! Can you recall where the other Duggar siblings went on their honeymoons?

    1. There are tours where you can have lunch with the Sami … !

  2. They should have some reindeer cheese. It's wonderful

  3. I'm surprised they'd go to Finland, a country that's been very pro-LGBT rights for almost 50 years. You'd think visiting this country would be against the Duggar's values.

    1. Why would one avoid visiting an entire country just because one didn't agree with some of the people who live there? One could never go anywhere because we all have different beliefs.

      Delete
    2. Um... anywhere you go there will be pro-LGBT. Sounds like a case of "I wish I had money to travel".

    3. You better stay in the usa...o wait, they kill unborn baby's.

    4. I don’t think they judge other people and countries by their beliefs. I think they hold their beliefs close as most people do, but that shouldn’t stop them going out in the world. Besides as time goes on people’s views and beliefs or their understanding of their belief system may change. I’ve always thought that the majority of the Duggar’s believe that it’s the god they believe in’s right to judge not their own.

    5. Wow....the country isn't LGBT, just some of the people. Are you really suggesting that we should limit our exoeriences and exposure to other cultures. Italy and France have been plagued by terrorest attacts and many other countries are not safe to visit for many reasons. Findland is free of political controversy and Americans are not likely to be kidnapped or killed, it is considered a safe place to visit.

    6. It's just the media and a small percentage of people making a lot of noise about it. There are still a lot of conservative Christians in Finland too.

      Delete
    7. I believe you can still visit a country without declaring your LGBT beliefs.

      Delete
    8. That's not much of a reason for refusing to visit a country. They also have socialized medicine there. Should the Duggars refuse to visit countries that have that?

      Delete
    9. Drinks flow pretty freely in that country, and there's a high rate of alcoholism. I wonder how the Duggars avoided seeing or dealing with that social scourge? It's a country with socialized medicine and lots of unemployment benefits, more things that would ruffle Duggar feathers.

      Delete
    10. Well, then they shouldn´t be visiting Europe at all...

      Delete
    11. They probably do not know about that.

      Delete
    12. If the Duggars refused to go to countries that didn't match their religious beliefs, they wouldn't go ANYWHERE.

      Delete
    13. Lol, what a weird reason to not visit a country! You'd be eliminating a whole lotta interesting places for sure.

      Delete
    14. Pretty sure they're going there to see the scenery.

      Delete
    15. I'm glad that my country has a reputation for being pro human rights, but I think you have mistaken us for Sweden. We are not that progressive. They have gone to London and New York, what's the difference?

      Delete
    16. Why would the social standards in a country prevent the Duggars (or anyone else for that matter) from visiting? Modesty standards sure didn't stop Lauren and Josiah from going to Austria.

      Delete
    17. They live in a country that is pro-LGBT, too. You can be kind to people without sharing the same values.

      Delete
    18. What on Earth? Visiting a country doesn't mean you support their social views or agree with them. Lighten up.

      Delete
    19. You don’t seem to have a very good grasp on what Christianity is. Just because Christians don’t agree with something does mean they hate the people involved in it. And America is just as pro-LGBT as Finland, sooooooo......

      Delete
    20. No country on this planet including the United States falls in line with Duggar values. Maybe they should just move to Mars?

      Delete
    21. @2:13, abortion is legal in almost every country the duggars gave visited.

    22. I have to agree the with point made in the first post. If you don't like a policy, then it follows that you wouldn't like the people who support that policy. Why go somewhere where there are so many people and so much policy that you'd be against?

They could have gone to Ark Encounter and Silver Dollar City and Chick-Fil-A and had a grand time, without having to ignore anything happening there.

      Delete
    23. Italy hasn't been plagued by terrorist attacks. If you mean post 2001 kind of attacks, there's never been any. We have great secret services and more importantly a good level of social cohesion.

      Delete
    24. Mar. 1, 9:32 a.m. "If you don't like a policy, then it follows that you wouldn't like the people who support that policy." No, it doesn't follow. Not even close. In fact, it is appropriate to hate the sin, but LOVE the sinner. There is a big difference between how you feel and view a behaviour versus how you feel and view a person.

      Delete
    25. @4:59 And the US is safe to visit? I would go to France and Italy first than visiting the US. In fact, I have not visited the US for over 15 years. You do not know when some guy is going to pull out a gun.

Americans are not likely to be killed, if they stay in the US. Look at your level of gun violence before you call other countries unsafe.

    27. Like someone else already stated, there are many Conservative Christians in Finland. I am one of them. We actually tried to get rid of gay marriage four years ago but the legislators suppressed our initiative.

We are not all socialists. Finns were the only ones who kicked Soviet Union's butt in WW2 and didn't get conquered by them. We fought them but you Americans were Stalin's ally. How Christian of you.

Our country is pretty socialist and left-leaning in politics overall. It worked for a while when our nation was quite homogenous and helped us rise from poverty to one of the richest countries in the world. But now we are in big trouble with uncontrolled immigration and EU. I am against both but what can one person do if the rest of the country is brainwashed to praise them?

  4. I can't wait to see any TLC shows following them on this one. My grandparents were from northern Sweden and I have on my bucket list to someday see the Northern Lights.

    2. I live in northern Sweden, above the arctic circle in a small town called Jokkmokk. And this night we have a spectacular northern light, can't stop looking at the sky. I hope you come here one day :) ♡

    3. They could see the Northern Lights in the US and even in NW Arkansas, if they knew when to look.

      Delete
    4. I live in Northern Ireland and have been lucky enough to see the Northern lights here twice.

    5. We live in northern Alberta (Canada) and have seen gorgeous northern lights quite a few times. And growing up in Manitoba (Canada) we even saw them occasionally!!

  5. There is more to life than picking these people apart. They love God and are excellent witnesses. Please just try to enjoy them.

  6. We took our children to Finland just before Christmas last year to see Santa, it was pure magic and we made memories that last a lifetime

  7. They make the best vodka in the world and love the tango in Finland, I don't suppose they will experience either one of those cultural things on their trip.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I can guarantee they won't be drinking vodka. Not sure about the tango though.

      Delete
    2. Not everyone likes how vodka tastes, even if you drink alcoholic drinks. They aren’t missing out on anything IMO. And who knows, maybe Abby likes dancing, they’re married and can do whatever they want.

  8. Seeing the Northern Lights would be lovely. But FFinland for honeymoon? Whatever floats their boat and I'm sure it was a good time.

    1. Why not? It's a beautiful country. Interesting culture too.

    2. Actually, it is becoming quite a destination for celebrities, too. Prince Harry and his then girlfriend went to Norway to see the northern lights right after Christmas 2017.

  10. I love the Duggars! Thank you TLC for theses episodes. More please

    ReplyDelete
  11. Please tell me that TLC didn't make them dress like Laplanders and eat reindeer meat.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Why shouldn't they eat reindeer meat? I'm not sure why you think there's something wrong with it. The cheese made from reindeer milk is great.

      Delete
    2. Reindeer meat, like venison is very lean and therefore is a healthy source of protein. I'd love to try it as I like venison a lot.

      Delete
    3. I'm sure TLC made them do something to evoke a strong reaction or to make them look like they're not from around there. It wouldn't be a honeymoon without making them try food they'll dislike.

      Delete
    4. Anon 9:35 Why do you assume they would dislike some new food they try? Trying new foods is an adventure and you often find it very good.

  12. I'm from Finland and I was so surprised to hear this! Unfortunately I can't access the video from here, but I hope they're having a great honeymoon!

  13. Dear John and Abbie, I can't wait to see the wedding on the current season. I also can't wait to see both the honeymoons on season 10. They both looked very happy. That was nice of John to thank people for watching the show. I love the show and never miss it. I always look forward to the next season and all the surprises. Natasha B.

  14. while that's wonderful they got to go on 2 trips, I'm sure many people didn't even get to have one honeymoon trip. Seems a bit excessive to me.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. 11:08- Then don't go on two trips. I could spend 24 hours a day pointing out other people's excesses. I'd rather just live my life. After all, while I don't think I live excessively, someone else may think I do. Let's just worry about ourselves.

      Delete
    2. I think they were waiting for a specific time of year to go, so they went on their beach trip honeymoon right after their wedding so they could still get away and have alone time. And if you have the money to travel multiple times a year good for you, I travel whenever I can. When you prefer experiences more than things/eating out that’s what you save your money for and put it towards.

      Delete
    3. Yes they did go on two trips. The beach for their honeymoon and then to Finland for their second honeymoon. Who could turn down a free trip to Finland? While it would be hard to turn down extravagant trips like the Duggars take it’d be nice to see them do something charitable with the money that would have spent on the trip. Think of how much food water and clothing for the homeless that money could provide! Or maybe donate the money to a local orphanage or the local food bank or the Red Cross? It’s be nice to see the Duggars get back to their roots and be the conservative, humble Christians they portrayed themselves to be in the early episodes when it was 17kids and counting. Seems like money and their publicity has changed them all tremendously

      Delete
    4. I think the beach trip was just a quick thing to simply have a couple of days away and "the feeling" of a honeymoon, while waiting for the perfect time to go on their actual honeymoon.

      Delete
    5. I'm not sure their money and publicity changed them all that tremendously. They were getting things for free back then and they still are now. The difference is now they really should be paying for everything themselves.

      Delete
    6. They both have jobs and have been single for a good while. I am sure they had a lot more money saved up than their siblings did when they married, so why not go on two honeymoons if you can afford it? I know people assume TLC pays for it, but none of us know that for sure.

      Delete
    7. Anon 6:17. I agree. During their early specials they said they lived in a "donated house". It was never clear who gave them the house or why. The Duggars seem to be "gifted" with a lot of things including the services of a contractor to build the "big house".

      Delete
    8. Anon 10:13 You have to be kidding. No one would bring a TV crew along on their honeymoon unless someone ELSE was paying for the trip. Of course TLC is paying for it.

      Delete
    9. Anon 6:31. The Duggars aren't under any obligation to donate money to anyone just because TLC pays for these honeymoon trips. I think it's OK for them to accept these trips as they have to put up with a TV crew following them around and setting up pranks on them.

  15. John David has absolutely come alive since meeting and marrying Abbie. It does a heart good to see two people so in love with each other AND having Jesus Christ hold first place in both our lives.

    1. It's true that he's come alive! He was a bit apathetic before her. No offense, just that his personality wasn't so lively and quirky, the same as he seems to be since he's with her.

  18. Guess we won't see that til.....which season?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Here I am, in good the old Northland of the USA, sick and tired of the ice, snow and cold! March is greeting us with more subzero temps and another 6 inches of snow on top of the 2 feet already on the ground. Abbie is welcome to it and she doesn’t have to travel all the way to Finland!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I never had the opportunity to travel and I believe I missed a lot. There is so much to learn from different cultures. Good for them; John has always worked hard and the Duggars have always shopped thrift and discount stores, etc., so they could save their money for things such as travel. Good for them!!!

      Delete
    2. Don't be petty. Why should they turn down a trip to Finland because you're tired of this endless winter?

      Delete
    3. I’m sure Abbie wanted more than just the snow and cold. The cultural experience in Finland would be totally different than what you have there in the cold USA. And the scenery as well would be lovely to behold! I live in Canada where cold and snow is the norm every winter but I don’t take offence that they don’t come honeymoon here!!! Sounds like you’re jealous that they can afford to travel....

    4. But you can't see the Northern Lights.

    5. You talking to me, saying I can’t see the northern lights?? You must’ve missed my earlier post about getting to see some gorgeous northern lights here!

    6. Hi to Sara from a fellow northern Canadian! I agree with your comments. For the non-Canadians ... The Japanese flock to Yellowknife to see the Northern Lights. Come on up sometime! Where I am on the prairies is -42C today. Good for Abbie and John going to Finland. I've been (in summer) and loved it. Maybe one of the Duggars will choose Canada for a honeymoon. Lots of fun up here all times of year.

    2. Oh, great point! If I were they, that's what I'd do. Best of both worlds.

  21. They should visit a sauna. That would really curl Abbie's hair. lol

  22. I have a feeling there's been some wheeling and dealing going on since Josh & Jill's humble honeymoons. The locations have gotten more remote and the bills much higher. Who's getting paid now to promote tourism in which country?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. John David is a lot older than Jill and Josh were which means he has had more time to save up for the honeymoon.

Do you really think other countries are paying people to come visit them? That just sounds strange. Maybe someone would pay a major celebrity to do that but I don’t think the Duggars have that kind of platform.

      Delete
    2. Anon 10:18. Since there's a TV crew tagging along, it's a good bet JOHN isn't paying for this trip.
