Seewalds Announce No. 3

Jessa and Ben Seewald pregnant

"Henry, he's a bit young. He's just into eating peas and chicken and playing with toys. But Spurgeon is old enough to where he kind of sort of maybe has an idea."
-Ben Seewald

Jessa and Ben Seewald are expecting their third child! The couple announced today that Baby Seewald is due in late spring. To hear from the parents-to-be, click here to be redirected to their announcement video on the TLC website.

  1. So exciting!! Any guesses for what the baby’s name will be?

    1. If the baby is a boy I think Hudson, Taylor, Graham, or George after Hudson Taylor, Billy Graham and George Muller, and if it’s a girl Corrie or Gladys after Corrie ten Boon and Gladys Alyward

    2. Who do you think might be courting? Jana? I think another pregnancy announcement is coming soon.

    3. The new season won’t show her pregnancy, it’s already been filmed. Maybe season after next?

  3. People were correct back on December 16th when they guessed Jessa was expecting again (when she was pictured in front of cousin Amy's clothing boutique). Readers thought her face looked a little rounder in that pic. Congratulations Jessa and Ben. Good news day today with this and the announcement that Counting On is returning Feb 11th.

    1. But you do realize that it is considered rude to speculate that someone is pregnant, correct?

      Delete
    2. I agree, 9:56. There has been a lot of speculation since Henry's birth about whether or not Jessa was pregnant. She even had to address that she wasn't pregnant almost a year ago because of rumors being spread. Duggar pregnancy watchers are bound to be right at some point because there is always speculation that someone is expecting.

      Delete
    3. 9.56am Uncorrect! I don't think it's rude that people were observing, like I, she was rounder in the face and a possibility was most likely she' pregnant. This is a place to state such, it's not as if it's written or read by Jessa. Obviously observations can be stated in a rude derrogratory way but I didn't read that on here at all.

      Delete
    4. If someone made a comment that my face looked rounder I’d be offended. When people make comments about their figures constantly trying to see if they gained a pound or if their shirt has an extra wrinkle it can be offensive. As a young woman if people other than best friends accused me of being pregnant and I wasn’t I wouldn’t like that. I think it’s ridiculous that after a couple has a child they are constantly being asked when the next one is coming. With that said I wish Ben and Jessa all the best and am excited to see grand-Duggar 13!

      Delete
    5. Oh please. The Duggars have made such a game out of announcing these pregnancies and announcing the genders that it's only natural for people to start suspecting things when the gap between babies is long enough and there's a change in someone's appearance. Most of the time, these observations are correct.

      Delete
    6. 10:26, that would be “incorrect” not “uncorrect”. Saying that someone looks pregnant is rude, no matter how you spin it.

Jessa and Ben I’m so excited for you!! Just the other day I was saying I wonder when Jessa or Jill will be expecting! I hope it’s a girl because I know you’re little girl will be beautiful, however if it’s a boy that will be wonderful too! Love you guys and congratulations!!!!

  8. Since they are having another baby, adoption is not going to happen any time in the near future. I really think they will never adopt and keeping having more of their own babies. I am sure one of the other married Duggars will announce they are expecting too! That seems to be what keeps show going courtship engagement and weddings expecting babies and then births.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I know many families who wanted to adopt for years, but had multiple biological children before they did. Who knows, maybe they’ll have another baby or two and then Ben will get a vasectomy so they have a lower chance of having any surprise babies so they can adopt.

      Delete
    2. They are going to have children and courtships and marriages whether the show exists or not. The show is just following their lives.

      Delete
    3. Since they don’t use birth control, they will be getting pregnant constantly until their ages don’t let them. They won’t get picked for adoption that way, not that they’ll need to since they will most likely have plenty of their own kids. I’d personally rather have infertile couples adopt.

      Delete
    4. 10:53, first of all your comment “I’d rather have infertile couples adopt” is extremely ignorant. There are more orphans than infertile couples. Second of all, just because someone doesn’t believe in using birth control pills, does not mean that they think all forms of birth control are wrong. Like 9:59 said, they may be planning on Ben having a vasectomy once they want to stop having biological kids.

      Delete
    5. 10:53- I’ve always considered my adopted children my own kids.

      Delete
    6. Ben will not get a vasectomy because Duggars do not believe in any form of birth control.

      Delete
    7. I don't think they would ever get a vasectomy, it's kind of against what they preach.
They'll probably keep having babies for another 15 years max, and then maybe they'll get back to talking about adoption.
They kept talking about adoption in the first year of their marriage: if you pay attention, they haven't mentioned it in the past couple of years. They probably realised that there's no point, while Jessa is still fertile.

      Delete
    8. 10:16, Exactly right.

      Delete
    9. 7:27 -- The comment, “I’d rather have infertile couples adopt” can't possibly be ignorant, because it's simply a stated preference.

      Delete
    10. @7:27,the vast majority of adoptees were NOT orphans when they were adopted. Their biological parents were alive. These children were given up for various reasons. I have actually not meet one adoptee who was technically an orphan when they were adopted. There are those poor unfortunate children in conflict zones who have lost both parents but these children are not always available for adoption by Western couples. The adoption process is long and expensive and several countries have stopped foreign adoptions.

In Western countries, more and more young women are decided not to give up their babies for adoption. With more services to place to support these young mothers and their children, the pool of available babies to adopt has decreased. There are older children available for adoption but it takes special parents who have the emotion and financial stability and maturity to deal with the very real problems these children come from.

Infertility is increasing for various environmental and lifestyle reasons. Some couples struggle for years, trying to start their families. These couples should be in first in line for adoption.

      Delete
    11. As someone dealing with infertility I'd love to adopt, but I was given the information from family services where I live that there is only one baby per 7 couples. Going through an international adoption isn't a financial option for us.

      Delete
    12. 12:55, I am a where that the majority of children in America who are adopted are not orphans, however, there are still more orphans than infertile couples. But yes, there are many children in the foster system who technically have parents but aren’t able to live with them, so while they aren’t technically orphans, they need a family who can provide for them. There isn’t a “line” to adopt kids. I wish there were, but that is not the case.
9:44, by an “ignorant comment”, I meant a stupid comment, what was trying to say that in less of a harsh way. Saying that you think only infertile couples should adopt is basically saying that you think it’s better for a child to stay in the foster system than to be adopted, since, as I said before, there are more children without homes than there are infertile couples.
9:37, they don’t believe in using birth control PILLS, because they believe it can cause a miscarriage. A vasectomy however does not do that, so it might not be out of question for them.
And 9:05, last June or July they said that they still hope to adopt in the future.

      Delete
    13. 12:55, there are around 6.1 million infertile couples in the US, however there are around 153 million orphans (not counting children in foster care who need homes) in the world. Meaning you would need more couples than just ones who are suffering from infertility to adopt in order for them to have families.

    1. Or they could practice contentment. :) Our houses are bigger and families are smaller than any other time in history. Three babies is hardly a reason to need to add on to a house that is already luxurious compared to so many other places in the world/history.
      -Hayley

      Delete
    2. No problem. They make bunk beds you know.

      Delete
    3. Jessa herself grew up in very small house with 15 kids. If I remember, Johanna was number 16 and at that time they moved into the "big" house. They can get by with 3 in their babies in their current home for now. Eventually, they will move. I am sure they want more kids.

      Delete
    4. They live in a two bedroom house. The Seewalds are going to have to move or add on to the house if they have a girl. There comes a point where brothers and sisters need privacy from each other.

      Delete
    5. Even nowadays, my cousins have their kids share rooms so you can easily have four children in a three-bedroom house. It was extremely common to have 2 or 3 children per bedroom until very recently. I actually have a cousin who lives in a two-bedroom house. The husband and wife have one room. The four boys have two bunkbeds in the other room. They seem very happy.

      Delete
    6. Where I live, there are legal limits to the number of unrelated people living in any house, and limits to the number of related people in a house per number of bedrooms. The rules were put in place after landlords were renting to people who were cramming as many as they could in one unit. So if you have a bigger family, you can't rent a 2-bedroom house.

      Delete
    7. Haha, this was probably Jessa’s way of getting daddy to finally upgrade their house.

      Delete
    8. 6:48 If this baby is a girl, it will still be years before they HAVE to get more bedrooms. I shared with 2 brothers until I was 5 and they were 7 and 8. 1:19 - Grandma owns the house they rent, not JimBob, and you can be sure another baby would come no matter what their housing situation.

      Delete
    9. Grandma no longer owns that house and they don't rent it. They own it.

      Delete
    10. Jessa and Ben bought the house from grandma. They are registered for that property.

      Delete
    11. 4:41 - Doesn't change the fact they'll need a three bedroom house if they have a girl.

      Delete
    12. I don’t think one more baby will cause the seewald to have to move. The boys can bunk together and new baby can set up a crib with Mom and Dad. However There are legal limits and code violations of living conditions ie too many ppl living under one roof is not safe. When Jessa was growing up in that small house with 15 kids it would have been grounds for a legal investigation.

      Delete
  11. This is wonderful news. I can't wait to see this new little Seewald :)

  12. Sounds like those adoption plans got put on hold again for another bunch of years.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Those adoption plans are simply idle talk, until someone actually gets up the gumption to do something about it.

      Delete
    2. For all we know their plans were already on hold. They might be waiting until they have a few biological kids and then adopt after that.

      Delete
    3. The adoption agency will never approve them. Unless they stop at 3 kids move to a bigger house and make more money.

      Delete
    4. In Canada, most adoption agencies will not consider you until you are over 40 years old and then you have to have a lot of money and a lot of space. Different rules for fostering. So why be negative about their positive comments about adoption? Maybe they will adopt in their 40s or maybe not but at least they say lovely things about adoption.

      Delete
    5. 3:34, yes they would need to move into a bigger house, but you don’t know how much money they make so that’s not a valid point to bring up, and I know a couple who are currently in the process of adopting their 7th child. Their 6th child was also adopted, so you don’t know what you’re talking about.

      Delete
    6. I know two couples who had three kids and then adopted. One of theme adopted 4 girls above the age of 4.

      Delete
    7. @7:20. At some time they’d have to start using some form of contraception in order for adoption to be a possibility. Not likely for that to happen.

      Delete
    8. They haven't talked about adoption for a couple of years now. They probably realized what was obvious: that if they don't use birth control they'll probably keep having babies until Jessa is about 40. Then, if they still want, they'll bring back the adoption idea.

      Delete
    9. 9:08, they talked about it last July

    3. June isn't late spring, thats early summer. March, April and May are the spring months, unless its different in Arkansas!

      Delete
    4. Well, technically the first day of summer is well into June, so she could be due in June and still have a spring baby.

  23. In the picture that she posted in front of Amy's store, you could tell she was likely expecting. Of course everyone said "how rude to say that..." I don't think its rude to guess when the evidence clearly supported it! Congrats to Jessa and Ben. They are going to be very busy!

    ReplyDelete

    1. Lol, someone was sure to be right at some point because literally every picture of Jessa that's shown someone says she's pregnant. If you say it EVERY time, you can't claim to have been right when it finally happens.

      Delete
    2. 2:22 - Agree 100%.

      Delete
    3. 10:25- Is it important for you to be able to guess correctly that a woman is pregnant? I’m puzzled as to why it would be, especially when it’s a person who’s a stranger on TV .

      Delete
    4. Just ignore the self-righteous "how rude" comments. Some people might not be on social media very often and not realize that the comments section typically has a variety of views and opinions, and so they think it's necessary to correct other people's behavior. Which, frankly, is more annoying than what the so-called "negative" comments

    5. 9:19, how exactly is that self righteous? It’s pretty basic knowledge that it’s rude to speculate about someone being pregnant.

      Delete
    3. Maybe they’ll name him/her “Anonymous Negative Nelly” in your honor.

    1. Jessa and Ben actually bought the house they live in. I could see a move in the near future for them.

    2. I’m sorry, but your comment is not very nice at all.
And by the way, it’s amazing how many people fit in a small 2 bedroom house! My neighbor lady just called me this week to tell me they had baby #7 on the way and they live in a small 2 bedroom house! When I mentioned that they might not be our neighbors for long anymore due to outgrowing their house, she said, “oh no, we still all have a place to sleep! And we don’t have any other plans right now!” And not just that, they frequently have overnight guests ta boot! With who knows how many kids! So it definitely works! Just like the saying goes: If you think you can, you can!

      Delete
    3. Well the baby will share a room with them for awhile, but I’m guessing they’re going to get a new house, and someone else will move into the one they’re in.

    4. It's grandma's house.

      Delete
    5. I said this to someone else above, but I’ll say it again. At no other time in history have our houses been so big and our families so little. Compared to all of history and most of the current world, the Seewalds home situation is considered luxurious. It is very bizarre that you feel the need to impose your preferences on someone else’s life.

    6. Zip it! Look at erin n her family still live in cottage house w 2 bedrooms n 3 kids too

      Delete
    7. I totally agree with Hayley's comment. I know LOTS of families, even now, who value togetherness and love more than being in debt with a massive house. These families are very happy. Kids love sharing bedrooms. I babysat for a family that had a big house and they were very intent on explaining and showing me that each girl had her own room but it was ok that they preferred to share. Well, yes, it has been normal throughout history for people to all bunk in together. In fact, that is what is still normal throughout much of the world.

      Delete
    8. Here in the U.K. houses are much smaller and we have same size plus a tiny box room and there's 4 of us, 2 tall teenagers & parents. On plus side it keeps us from hoarding and we regularly have no choice but to declutter!

      Delete
    9. Living with 2 parents and 7 kids in a 2 bedroom house may be possible when the kids are small, though I'd rather not try, but wait 'til they get bigger. Yikes!

      Delete
    10. Anon 7:32 just because you have a massive house that doesn’t mean you have debt. Families with big houses value togetherness and love as well, why do you assume that families with big houses don’t love each other? If you ask those children who all bunk together, almost all of them well say theh wished they had their own space. Everybody needs there own space sometimes.

      Delete
    11. Well said 9:19. I grew up in a family of 10 in a 3 bedroom house. There was absolutely no room to turn around and no place to be alone. It was so nice when we moved to a larger house after a couple of the older kids had left home. I got my own room!

  50. Really happy for Ben and Jessa, but it kind of surprises me that famous people, including the Duggars, can keep a pregnancy under wraps for as long as they do. It seems these days that by the time you find out, the baby is almost here. I'm sure not looking forward to another scary Duggar home birth, though, and you know Jessa will have a home birth.

    1. All of their announcements are strategically lined up with announcing a new season or at the beginning of the new season. It helps ratings and boosts interest in the show. I am sure close friends and family know sooner.

    2. Jessa’s birth with Henry went perfectly fine with no complications whatsoever, and what happened with Spurgeon’s birth would still have happened in a hospital.

  51. Congratulations to this family, Jessa is the most beautiful girl. Ben please shave!

    1. Seriously, Ben needs to shave for you???!!!! I don’t believe you’re his wife!!!! If Jessa likes it, then it’s perfectly fine!! My husband is shaving due to his oilfield job requirements but I don’t like it! I much prefer him with a beard!!! And so do our kids!!! Our 15 year old son was begging him to grow his beard again, nor can he wait till he can grow his own!!

    2. Why should Ben shave? Unlike the Duggar males he can grow a decent beard.

      Delete
    3. yes ben is looking much better without a beard he's looking much older now.

    2. Please Mary keim, retire the mennonite on your name. It’s getting tiring. Thankyou. Do you think it gives you more umph to your comments? Just curious as nobody else puts their denomination behind their name.

    3. While it IS very strange, especially considering she does not seem to adhere to most true Mennonite standards, she can keep signing however she wants. She didn’t say anything nasty in her comment this time, so leave the poor lady alone.

    4. Anon 3:41 Mary has every right to sign her posts however she wants, and do you think being snarky adds anymore umph to your comments? This is Ellies blog so if it's fine with her then who are you to say otherwise? Betty Ellen .Protestant, Church of God

  57. CANNOT VIEW THIS IN THE UK WELL GUTTED BUT CONGRATS JESSA & BEN ON THE GREAT NEWS OF BABY # 3

    ReplyDelete
  58. Ben is only 23 years and will now be a father of three. He has matured quite a bit, but in some of the early pictures of their courtship Jessa looked quite a bit older then he did. He looked like he was in his first year of high school and way too young to get married.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Jessa might look older, but Ben has been doing all the heavy parenthood lifting. He's the baby changer, the toddler amuser, the "babysitter," and the chief cook. Jessa is the shopper. It will be interesting when the kids outnumber them soon.

    2. My brother is in his first year of high school, and your comment made me crack up. Ben looked like he was at LEAST 18 when they got married, nowhere close to a 14 year old.

    3. Jessa is older than him

  59. Ellie, have you had your baby yet? Are you going to be taking a blogging break when baby arrives?

  60. Yay!!! I was wondering when it would be announced!!! I pray Anna is next!!!!

    1. Why? Anna has all the children she needs. Having one baby after another is not the be all in life.

    2. 7:58, some people want a lot of kids, why do you care?

    3. It seems like they have plenty of children. When do you want her to stop? A body can only handle so much...

  61. Congratulations Jessa & Ben!! This is such exciting news! The reason this is very exciting news is because you are really fantastic parents! It is such a joy to watch how you raise your children. Many blessings.

  64. I think 2019 will bring another four to five pregnancies:
    John & Abbie
    Lauren & Siah
Josh/Anna(they have had babies every other year 09-11-13-15-17
    Jessa & Ben - confirmed
Jill & Derick - late in the year

    1. what about 2nd ones for Joy and Kendra? The twins and Jana I feel will be courting, if not Jason too.

    2. Jinger, Joyanna and kendra also are possibilities too

    3. I'm going for four. I don't think Jill and Derrick are going there while Derrick is in law school.

    4. We know that Jessa’s having a baby, and I’m going to guess Anna and Lauren will have end of the year babies, and that there will be a bunch of 2020 Duggar babies. I’d guess from Abbie, Jill, Kendra, and Joy, and then at the end of 2020 an announcement from Jinger.

      Delete
    5. I agree with 8:26 about Jill and Derrick. I think that they'll probably wait for another year or two, and I also think Josh and Anna will too.
I predict only 2-3 pregnancies in 2019, but a whole lot in 2020!
I think that we will see more courtships and marriages in 2019, including the male twins and Jana, and a ton of pregancies in 2020. Basically, all of the newlyweds, and Anna, Joy, Kendra, and maybe Jinger and Jill.
      Can't wait to find out

So pleased for Jessa & Ben, they are wonderful parents to their 2 lovely boys & im sure will find baby number 3 a wonderful addition to their little family. Have been keeping Ellie in my thoughts & prayers & was very happy to see when looking on her Facebook page that her gorgeous son has arrived. Hope you & baby are well, sorry to hear Labour was a bit arduous but your little man is well worth it. Take care of yourself & don't forget to spoil yourself when you get the chance, you have done an amazing thing growing another human & you deserve a little spoiling. God bless you, your husband & your new baby. 💗
