Baby Trivia

"...I might be a little bit of a sore loser."
-Joseph Duggar

It's no secret that the Duggars are a competitive family. At a joint, family baby shower for Joy and Austin Forsyth and Joe and Kendra Duggar, guests compete in a baby trivia game. But with challenging questions like "What is a swan's baby called?" it is not an easy game (video below).

    1. 3:45PM: I guess Jinger did, because she had the answer!

  2. After watching Mondays episode I felt compelled to post this link about the harms of "Dragon breath" that Jinger and Jeremy tried at the fair. A lot of kids watch your tv show and they will see them doing it and think it's safe but that's not always the case. Google the product, several injuries have occurred. Just a public service announcement. I love the Duggar family and just want their audience to be aware of the dangers of this stuff.

    1. Im in the UK and last year a story hit the headlines here about a young girl who had to have most of her stomach removed after ingesting liquid nitrogen in a drink. She almost died, and as you can imagine it has changed her whole life forever, this stuff can be very dangerous, thank you for posting the link.

    2. Didn't see that part, but liquid nitrogen is what doctors use to freeze things like warts off your skin (cryotherapy). Why would you want to put it in your mouth? It may not be the full minus-300-something degrees at that point, but still cold enough to injure your mouth or esophagus. Also, it displaces oxygen, so it's not even a good idea to be around where it's being used without proper ventilation. In high enough concentration, it can suffocate you. Yes, if they showed it on TV, they should have had a warning about it, too. Thanks for pointing that out.

    3. I thought about that too. I had just seen something about the possible dangers.

    4. Why do we know this stuff but the producers of the show don't? Why did they film that and allow it to air? I truly think the production company doesn't care about this show any more or how ridiculous - or dangerous - they can make it look.

    5. Wow I've never heard of that before. I know about the liquid nitrogen for wart removal but I have not heard of "dragon's breath." Good to put out warning in case there was ever a reaction

    6. My first time hearing about this stuff was an advisory against them and listed the "secret ingredient" as liquid nitrogen and it sounded like a bad idea to me, but maybe it was hindsight bias. That advisory was just in the news a couple weeks ago though and this show is months behind, so I doubt they thought it through that much if it was at the fair for sale.

    7. It was being sold at a fair. Every kind of food sold there is supposed to be approved for human consumption. Health inspectors go out to fairs to check everything. If it is so we’ll known that it is dangerous, why was it allowed?

    8. I saw a "dragon's breath" booth at the local county fair. They had two signs that cautioned people with respiratory issues from eating the food. Hopefully, they also give a verbal warning. It's crazy that it is still being sold since it can do such internal damage.

    9. 10:56 There is always some point in life where you have to use your own good judgment, even though food & ride inspectors have done their jobs. If it looks like it could be a bad idea on any level, don't do it!

  3. They need a microphone for a baby shower in a home?

    2. The Duggars go big or go home.

    3. When you have 100 - 200 people in attendance, it might be helpful.

    4. They have a large audience.

    5. Let’s see. There are 21 people with all the Duggar and parents. Then add all of the spouses and grandchildren plus friends and their children.... so I would say in a crowd of that many people a microphone would beat yelling or having to repeat everything multiple times.

    6. No, 8:54, the Duggars go big AT home!

  6. Joy didn't seem very excited about the baby shower. I would love to see the gifts they got as well as the decorations.

    1. The mother's excitement is the only reason to hold a baby shower. If she's not into it, she shouldn't be putting her friends and family through the annoyance of an elaborate party, buying gifts, and playing stupid games.

    2. She’s a new mom, she was probably tired

    3. Joy wasn't excited about her wedding, either!! She barely wanted to be at the reception.

    4. Really it was Kendra’s baby shower, and people probably brought some clothes for Gideon now that they know he’s a boy

    5. It was a double shower btw..and 8:56, I'm sure they wanted to throw her a shower and play games. Yeah maybe nix the baby food game but still

    6. The Duggar girls lack the natural cheerfulness of Kendra, Lauren and the Bates girls. Not saying it is bad. They just seem more guarded about showing their true emotions and feelings. Like I said, does not make them any less, but can make for dull television.

    7. Who isn’t exhausted when they have a two week old baby? I don’t think it was a lack of excitement for Joy but just being tired that caused her not to look enthusiastic.

    8. Considering what many of the Duggar girls have gone through in the public eye, I don't name them for being more guarded than the Bates or their sisters in law. The Bates get critiqued too at times, but they're not (yet) quite as famous as the Duggars.

  7. With a huge family like the Duggars, they are always having some kind of party or celebration.

  8. The first time I heard the phrase "give someone a shower" was on the "I Love Lucy" show, an episode just before she gave birth to Little Ricky. Ladies came over to give Lucy a baby shower, but I only heard the "shower" part I guess. I was maybe 4 or 5 at the time. I couldn't understand why a bunch of women were coming over to take Lucy into the bathroom and scrub her down in the shower. Made no sense to me. Seemed like quite an invasion of privacy!

Can't help but think of that day whenever I hear about another "shower."
