ReplyDeleteBabysitting for a couple of hours is NOT a test drive for parenthood. High school age kids babysit all the time and aren't "test driving" for parenthood. This is absurd.
ReplyDeleteNo it’s not! The expressions is all in fun; it means getting a little taste of what parenting a few children is like. Jeremy & Jinger certainly understand it is not a serious prelude to understanding parenthood.
DeleteJeremy sure showed he’s got energy!!! Jinger was either tired, not feeling great or anxious (maybe a combination) about watching these kids. She seemed kind of hesitant about doing it.
DeleteCurious: when non Duggar family members a being filmed must they refrain from having alcohol. Jeremy’s friends had water in the restaurant; maybe non drinkers? It just seems to me we never see a wine glass or beer in anyone’s hand.

DeleteBabysitting is most certainly a test drive. It's better to have an hour's worth of practice than none at all.

DeleteEh, it's getting a little taste of what it's like to be responsible for little people. Of course it's not the same as parenthood. "Absurd" is a bit strong.
DeleteIt was just a chance to see Jeremy and Jinger with kids. They did something similar when Jessa and Ben spoke about adoption and then watched their friends' adopted daughter and younger biological daughter. The friends went out to eat with their infant so that the Seewalds could experience having more than one kid. It was also the episode they babyproofed the house.
DeleteJinger has changed plenty of diapers and watched several young children. It wasn't new or eye opening to her. Jeremy, however, hasn't been around too many children. He had good reflexes getting the baby out of her swinging brother's path.
11:41 - Jinger said that her pregnancy made her feel really tired.
I’ve been a bit curious about anyone who enjoys a glass of wine or beer; if TLC has a rule about not showing that on the sow OR the Duggars will not allow it shown???
DeleteTLC doesn't have rules against alcohol consumption on other shows. Danielle and Adam Busby, from Outdaughtered, have been shown drinking on nights out.
DeleteIt may be a Duggar rule, the friends don't drink, or they just didn't want to drink on camera.
It's most likely out of respect that no one drinks alcohol. Especially since Jeremy is a pastor.
DeleteAs for sitting, yeah Jinger has done her share I'm sure! Not every Duggar girl is going to be like their mom. Some women can't handle that many kids and that is o.k.

DeleteAnd the styrofoam take-out containers. Those have been banned in some cities.
DeleteAt least the plates are paper and stand a chance of decomposing, all except for the plastic coating.
Generally, I agree about paper plate use. However, in this situation, I would also have given young children paper plates. I doubt Jinger and Jeremy have plastic plates around since they didn't have children yet and wouldn't want to risk my plates accidentally getting broken. They've shown Jinger and Jeremy use real plates before during home dinners.

ReplyDeleteThen why watch this show at all? What exactly would you like for them to film? It is a REALITY show. People seem to get angry because of the situations that are filmed. So much negativity. I will pray for both of these sad commenters.
Delete2:32- There's quite a bit of staging and scripting involved with so-called reality shows. The Duggars are no exception.

ReplyDeleteJeremy is hilarious! Obviously, Jinger and Jeremy will make great parents. I also liked how Jinger so nicely asked if the kids would like to clean up after themselves. What a great way to teach a kid responsibility. I really like Jeremy and Jinger.
ReplyDeleteTHAT's how her mother "did it" & also, Michelle & JB are very organized, with chore & buddy systems. Jeremy said it best; children come "one at a time". ❤
DeleteBut in Michelle's case, they also came "two at a time" twice...and since both John and Jana, and Jed and Jeb, are fraternal twins, that means she likely had a tendency for double ovulation. (Identical twins, on the other hand, pretty much occur by chance.)
DeleteSo far, none of Michelle's daughters seem to have inherited this tendency, though it seems all of the married ones have joked about having twins at some point. But we don't have that big of a sample size yet. I certainly won't be surprised if one day a Duggar daughter DOES give birth to twins. If that happens to be Jinger, then Jeremy might very well be proved wrong, eventually. Or not.

DeleteParenthood is the best. Those days of a bunch of little kids is a lot of work, but in it's own way it's a quiet and rewarding life.

ReplyDeleteI have a huge family and we use paper plates/bowls and plasticware for 95% of our meals. Best invention ever.
ReplyDeleteMy in-laws also have a huge family and you can't find a paper plate, a plastic fork, a Styrofoam cup, or a paper napkin anywhere in their house. I practically have to bring my own roll of paper towels.
DeleteYears ago the church I attended in Missouri would host a monthly “dinner on the ground”. Basically a church potluck dinner and no, I dont know where the name came from. The rule was that everyone had to supply their own cutlery and plates/cups and NO disposable dinnerware was allowed. Every family was also required to bring extra settings for people who were in need. When the predictable uproar ensued (paper is so much more convenient!!) our pastor said that doing dishes was the perfect time to reflect with Jesus. I still use that time to reflect with Jesus and reflect on my day

DeleteWe had twelve kids in the family when I got married and moved out. We rarely used disposable dishes and cutlery. Only on parties, events or in parks. We handwashed everything and purchased our first dishwasher when I was quite grown already.
DeleteNothing at all wrong with paper plates. a good parent uses them so that they don't have to waste time washing dishes. They could use that time to spend with their children instead.
DeleteThe duggars are all free to make their own choices. None of them are forced to make certain decisions. People act as if they are imprisoned. If they want to use birth control that is their right to do so among any number of other issues in life. The duggar family is not a cult. Quite the opposite. Go Duggars!!
