It has been a crazy day, but we wanted to jump on and wish Kendra Duggar a very happy birthday! One year ago today, she was choosing her wedding dress in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, with fiance Joseph Duggar showing up to surprise her for cake and pizza. Today, she's been a wife for eleven months and a mother for two. Happy 20th, Kendra!

why does it say above that she has been a wife for 11 months and a mother for two? She only has 1 baby?

ReplyDeleteRe: the photo of Kendra and Joy in the long dresses...that looks like an older photo, from just before Joy's wedding. She lost a lot of weight for her wedding. This is not a Kendra birthday photo. They post photos from the past as if they are very recent ones.

Kendra may have come a little early or she was the reason her parents got married. Point taken in regards to Jim and Michelle, and possibly Kendra's parents, implementing rules they themselves never followed.
DeleteEven if what you're implying about the Caldwells is true, so what? Is Josh forbidden from teaching his kids the importance of fidelity? Or if someone used drugs before marriage, they have to let their kids use drugs, too?

Jim Bob and Michelle have said they regretted not saving their first kiss for their wedding day and as for Kendra’s parents I don’t know much about their story. I believe the kids make their own choices, if they chose to make kissing part of their courtship or engagement they could, it just might be met with some initial counseling from the parents and a bit of disapproval....in the end they are legal adults or close to it making decisions for their life.
DeleteA hypocrite is someone who says "Do as I say, not as I do". But someone who says "do as I say, not as I did" is not necessarily a hypocrite. Otherwise, Paul was one of the biggest hypocrites ever when he defended the Christian faith, since he once persecuted it before his conversion.
DeleteSo, Josh was certainly being a hypocrite (as he himself admitted) when he was publicly representing the Family Research Council while doing very un-family friendly things in his off hours.
But if we take the best case scenario that Josh has truly repented and realized how much his actions have hurt his wife, children, and other family members, and wishes to counsel other people NOT to do what he did; then while I am sure some will still call him a hypocrite, I don't think it's the same.
Jim Bob and Michelle may have regretted not saving their first kiss for marriage, but I bet they would have regretted more being denied a normal childhood and high school experience with school, friends, sports, activities and clubs, proms, dates, and after school jobs.

THEN I became a Christian. Should I let my children do the things things that caused me pain and grief, or should I use my wisdom to lead them to righteousness?

Jim Bob and Michelle talk about how they regret kissing and yet share a picture of themselves kissing prior to marriage. Similarly, Michelle shared the picture of her in her cheerleading uniform and fondly spoke about high school with former classmates. Makes you wonder how regretful they truly are.

In the real world you can be the best parent and Christian but all it takes is one time for a teen pregnancy to happen. It does not mean they are drug addicts or sleeping around. It may be with a high school sweet heart that you would marry upon graduation or at legal age to marry. Does abortion sound like a better option to you? Not to me. See I gave birth to my 21 yr old son my senior year of high school. Me and his daddy started dating in 9th grade. It only took one time. Eagle-eyed viewers saw Jeremy at dinner months before his name was ever mentioned, and at one point, Kendra was "Who's that blonde girl hanging around Joe?" There was even a time when one of the Bates boys was continually posing close to a Duggar girl in event photos, long before that boy started talking about having had his heart broken.

DeleteLove this blog and think you guys do a great job, but it bothers me how you don’t recognize someone as a mother until their baby is born. I get what you’re saying, but people who aren’t parents don’t go through the discomforts and joys of pregnancy! And as a Mom who didn’t have a living child outside the womb until my fourth pregnancy and over two years of motherhood it is hard not to be considered a Mom until you have a child outside the womb. If you believe in life at conception, then these girls are moms the minute that baby starts forming!

Joy wore brown shoes with her wedding dress and the bridesmaids usually wear brown casual sandals. I see that Kendra has on brown sandals with a black skirt. Just curious.
