DeleteAccording to him, Derick pulled his family from the show voluntarily. It is highly unlikely they'll be rejoining the show at any point, regardless of any pleading from fans. Please let it go.
DeleteI'm sure many fans wanted to see Samuels birth but in retrospect it's probably best it wasn't aired. No one knows what happened outside of the family but pictures after the birth revealed sam had complications and needed a 2 week NICU stay. There's speculation that Jill and the unliscensed midwife did not take appropriate actions which led to a potentially life threatening emergency. If the real birth story was aired Jill would never hear the end of it. And so much criticism and backlash would ensue...
DeleteSamuel's gender reveal, was shown on Counting On. Jill and Derick, had Israel, and some of the younger Duggar Siblings, participate in a scavenger hunt, where it was revealed that Israel, was going to have a brother.
DeleteWe don't need to gossip about something being wrong with Samuel. Time will tell if this is the case.

how about some recent pictures? I am just wondering if he is walking yet? seems there is something not right with him. Jill showed so many pictures of isreal and this one not so oftern.
ReplyDeleteThey were still being filmed when Israel was a baby. There have been plenty of Sam pictures. Guess you missed them.
DeleteJill is busier with two with less time for pics....he seems right on track to me. Everyone makes assumptions with no regard for the truth.
DeleteUnfortunately the second child never has as many pictures taken of them. You are just so busy with two that you don’t take as many pictures.

DeleteAs a mom of 2 kids, I take just as many pictures of my second as I did my first. I also take a lot of them together. So no, the second doesn’t get fewer pictures.

ReplyDeleteIts been a year and Jill & Derick still won't say why Sam was in the nicu weeks after his birth & on oxygen when he went home. Considering they share all their birth's its a little weird.

DeleteI'm sure we will never know. It was probably a scary and sensitive time in their lives. And considering they get criticized for every breath they take, I don't blame them for not sharing his birth story.
DeleteThe Dillards themselves may not share Samuel's birth story, but sadly I won't be surprised that IF there is anything juicy, that it will eventually get leaked. I can just imagine a hospital employee being hard up for cash and selling a story to a tabloid. That might be illegal, but so, arguably, is what got leaked about what Josh did as a teenager.
DeleteOr, perhaps the fact that it's been a year out and no one has leaked anything, means there actually was NOT anything juicy enough to sell to a tabloid.
They quit the show around the same time. While at the time I was disappointed that we didn't get to see an episode surrounding his birth, I now think it's great that they had the freedom and made the choice to keep their business their business.

DeleteWhen you make your living publicizing your life and the lives of your 20 children (and every event, including a miscarriage) for public consumption from every baby's birth forward, both fans and critics are going to notice when you intentionally "leave out" the birth of a baby...particularly when the births are filmed for TV, complete with rounds of congratulatory videos between family members. It's a little insulting to think that no one would notice, nor ask. It's twice as insulting to be disparaged for asking why this birth wasn't shown. A simple, "Samuel had some breathing issues at birth that necessitated some help from the NICU unit." would have done wonders in the credibility arena.
ReplyDeleteI believe the Dillards had stopped filming by that time. Jill was seen in Henry's birth episode and that's the last time I saw any of them on the show.
DeleteYou'd have more of a point if Samuel was a baby born to Michelle and Jim Bob. I'm sure NOT televising or publicizing Samuel' birth was a decision made by the Dillards, not the Duggars.
DeleteYes, Michelle and Jim Bob have been upfront with the issues Josie had and their loss of Jubilee. But obviously Derick and Jill made different decisions from them. Including the decision to quit the TV show completely.
It is unusual how this was handled. They had no problem with extensive coverage of Josie's birth and hospitalization.
DeleteConsidering the fact that they had quit the show right around the time Samuel was born, I don't think they owe anyone a story or explanation. And just because Jill's parents chose to do it doesn't mean they have to do it too. I think it's time to accept that we may never know the circumstances of Samuel's birth and move on with life.
