Happy 4th of July to our fellow American readers. The Duggars enjoy celebrating Independence Day with family, friends, food, and fireworks. In the video below, watch footage from the holiday picnic they held six years ago. Things have changed quite a bit since then!

ReplyDeleteCheck out the pictures in the header if you want to see more recent ones.
DeleteJackson and Johanna were my favorite part of the show...i really miss them😍
ReplyDeletethey were so little.
ReplyDeleteJackson and Johanna were always a funny duo. I remember this episode when it originally aired. Good times.
ReplyDeleteWow they wil be in a courtship soon. Nice to see them.
ReplyDeleteWhat??! Johanna is only 12.5yrs!! And Jackson 13yrs let them grow up first.
DeleteWrong anon 5 57. Jackson is 14 so could be married in 4 yrs. Johanna is 13 so can legally marry in 5. Time flies.
DeleteHe is 14 and needs to be prepaired for bus future. In a couple of years he wil have a wife and family like bus brothers and sisthers.
DeleteAnon at 638AM: I hope you don't literally mean that Jackson is getting a wife in "a couple of years", he'd be only 16 years old. The Duggars practice early marriage, not child marriage.
DeleteSo far, every married Duggar or Duggar in-law, has been a legal adult, at least 19 years old, at marriage. And while the last 3 Duggar marriages have featured 19 year old brides, if JD and Abbie marry she will be 26 (or even 27 depending on when her birthday is). Josh, Jill, Jessa and Jinger were all over 20 when they married.
That being said Michelle herself married at age 17, so I guess if someone really wanted to marry that young the Duggars may allow it. But as so far no one has even courted before they were 18 (and that was Josiah's first courtship that did NOT lead to marriage), I doubt this will happen.
Jackson just turned 14 in May, and Johannah is going to be 13 in October.
ReplyDelete14 and 13 is still too young for any courtships. I don't know if the Duggars have the same "no courting until 18" rule like the Bates, but no Duggar has started courting younger than that. That certainly doesn't mean they're too young for innocent crushes, but way too young to discern marriage, which is what courtship is for.
DeleteThough of course, sometimes a crush does eventually mature into a serious relationship, I think Joy was crushing on Austin for 3 years before he noticed her as more than a friend. But they didn't actually court until she was 19.
So a courtship in 4 years.
DeleteJoy and Austin had a getting to know you period before courtship. If Joy crushed on Austin for years, JoHannah is only a year or two away from starting to look for a husband.
DeleteI think people are too eager to make generalizations about all Duggars based on the most recent courtships.
DeleteCrushing on a boy is not remotely the same as seriously looking for a husband to marry. It's cute that Joy liked Austin for so many years, but just because Joy married a guy she crushed on since age 15 or so, doesn't mean we should expect all Duggars to.
The other Duggars apparently did not get interested in romance until their late teens or older. Joe and Josiah married 19 year olds but they were not teenagers themselves.
In 4 years Jackson will be 18 and Johanna 17. The only Duggar to court at 18 was Josiah and that didn't end in marriage. Jackson and Johanna may even be late bloomers like Jana and John David. Don't forget the Duggars are actual PEOPLE, not automatons all following the same script.
Dear Duggars happy 4th of July. hope you had good one. my family and I have had a good day also. I miss all of you! Natasha B.
ReplyDeleteLittle Jackson and Johannah! I miss those shows! <3
