The new season of Counting On doesn't officially start until July 30th, but TLC will air a sneak peek of Garrett's birth ahead of the season premiere. The 30-minute mini-special airs at 10:30pm on Friday, July 6th, and 1:30am on Saturday, July 7th. Be sure to tune in.
In the first glimpse, Joseph and Kendra Duggar are ready to welcome their baby. With 10 days to go until her due date, Kendra goes into labor and heads to the hospital. Only a few hours later, she gives birth to their baby boy, Garrett David Duggar.

Wow, can't wait to watch it!
ReplyDeleteGreat, thank you for letting us know....
ReplyDeleteWHY are they doing things backwards again??!! We haven't even seen the honeymoon yet!
ReplyDeleteThey've started airing shorter versions of the story to pacify the people who complain that it takes so long to air things. This way people can see the birth, or wedding, or whatever relatively soon and then they eventually re-show it in its chronological order.
DeleteAgree that it is a silly way to try to keep up with things. It creates confusion. Have we seen it or haven't we? Who can remember, it's all so scrambled up and mixed up with breaking news on the blogs.
DeleteSo excited to this little man's entrance into the world! Congrats Joe and Kendra! He is a beautiful little blessing!
ReplyDeleteSo glad they went to the hospital! Hopefully the rest of the clan will follow!
ReplyDeleteSo Joe and Kendra sold their story to TLC. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI admit that I am a little disappointed that they did this. But, I guess it will help pay some bills.
DeleteThey have a contract with tlc. They have to let fans see this.
DeleteI'm so grateful I get to see it. Thank you Joe and Kendra
DeleteThey are employed by tlc
DeleteKendra and Joe don't have to let fans see anything they are uncomfortable filming. They chose to have the birth filmed. They have free will. I would think less of Joe if Kendra didn't want the birth filmed and they went through with it because of money. Unwillingly giving up private moments is not worth the money.
DeleteCan't wait to watch, and glad Kendra went to the hospital after going into labor...Jane
ReplyDeleteWhy are the seasons so spread out? And why are the seasons so short? True fans are watching events a year after they happen. We want more Diggers.
ReplyDeleteI agree please more Duggars
DeleteThey are real people with personal lives. They can't live their whole lives to entertain viewers.
DeleteIf it meant more money, they would, 12:21.
Deletethey are so cute together, can't wait to see the birth <3
ReplyDeleteMay I ask why? I don't think having a TV crew filming a birth for "reality TV" is anything worth watching.
DeleteI agree, Cheri. I enjoyed watching the episode. I'm glad TLC put it on this soon.
DeleteI'm so glad somebody in the family finally chose a hospital birth. I realize a hospital birth can have its complications, too, but I think your odds of having a safer and more comfortable birth are greatly enhanced in a hospital with professional staff and medical care there to assist you. Good for you, Kendra.
ReplyDeleteReally I think it depends on the situation. The Duggar daughters seem to have really traumatic deliveries (other than Jessa with Henry), and aren’t really great examples of what a home birth is like. I personally know dozens of kids who were delivered at home, and their moms had no difficulties, and a few of them were even upwards of 10 lbs๐ณ All of Anna Duggars births went well. Jill should probably have gone to the hospital with Israel, knowing that he was two weeks late and was going to be bigger than the average baby since he was her first and didn’t know how her body would respond, and we don’t know the whole story with Samuel, just that it ended in him needing to be in the NICU for two weeks. What happened to Jessa with Spurgeon also happened to my mom who was in a hospital, so I don’t know that it really could have been prevented; and her birth with Henry went well so if she has any more bio kids she would probably be fine delivering at home. Gideon was HUGE, so really I think it’s a good think Joy had a csection, her trying to deliver him naturally could have gone wrong in a number of ways, and then being that far from a hospital could have ended badly. I think the biggest problem with their births are the “midwives” they choose to use.
DeleteIf you have an experienced nurse midwife, have a normal pregnancy and is expecting one baby, not multiples, then a home birth is actually just as safe as a hospital birth. However I know home birth isn't for everyone.
DeleteBirth is big business is the US and the use of intervention is really high. I know hospitals are scared about lawsuits, however it's kind of sad that the CNMs have been pushed out of the delivery rooms, in favour of the doctors, who really aren't specialist when it comes to births. I reccommend everyone to see the documentary "The business of being born".
The midwives run the delivery rooms in Norway. Doctors are called, if needed. The C-section rates are low, induction rates are low, we have a lot more freedom to choose in which position we give birth.
Having a home birth with what you call CPM (they don't exist in Norway as the title of midwife is protected and is only given to nurses who have worked for a few years and then chosen to go back to school to get a master in midwifery), is a whole other thing. I'd never opt for a home birth without a CNM present.
Agree, and or was a smal baby. She did not want a draMagic birth.
DeleteI wouldn't attempt delivering at home, nor would I use one of those stand-alone birthing centers. If something goes wrong, all anyone can do there is call 911 and wait. If something goes wrong at a hospital, a massive amount of help is on the spot. I thought the whole point of labor and delivery was to produce a healthy, living baby and a healthy, living mother...not to prove how "brave" you are, or how much pain you can endure, or show how scared you are of "hospital germs."
DeleteAmen to the germs 10:23. I don't like it when home births are placed above hospital births for that reason. Although I like to think I keep a clean and tidy house, I'm sure I could find staph, eColi, and other germs throughout my house. It's not a sterile environment! Hospitals use professional cleaning teams with commercial grade cleaners. Homemakers don't.
DeleteWill the video will be available for Canada viewer?
ReplyDeleteI could not bring it up in Canada
DeleteNot every US viewer can see it either so don't feel bad.
DeleteThank you. I guess Canada's viewers has to wait to July 6th๐
Deletegood for Kendra for going to a hospital. I know there will be a lot of people who disagree w/ me on here but there is nothing wrong with a hospital birth. When things go wrong like they sometimes do at the last minute it's great to have access to emergency care. Also so glad she had a quick labor. Seems very unlike the Duggar sister's labors which lasted forever and ended up in emergencies at the end.
ReplyDeleteI don’t disagree, I think all of the girls should have the choice to choose between a home or hospital birth without pressure from anyone whichever way they choose; however, if they choose to do homebirths they need to have competent midwives with them, who know when to say when, and know the girl’s body’s limits. Jill and Joy both will probably not be able to have VBACs, given their babies large sizes combined with the way their bodies seem to respond to labor.
DeleteI doubt anyone posting here is actually AGAINST hospital birth. What has happened a lot, though, is people bashing the Duggar women who choose to birth at home as ignorant, reckless, irresponsible, etc.
DeleteThen people defending them claim something like "home birth is just as safe as hospital birth" or "mothers can have complications in the hospital too" or whatever. Thus giving the impression they are against hospital births, but I really doubt most of them are.
Some also think there are only two options, hospital births where they "tie you down" to monitors and pressure moms into unnecessary interventions out of greed, or a totally natural home birth with no doctors involved at all.
Thankfully, most mothers have many more options these days than just those two. Indeed I recall when Joy gave birth that many moms testified they were allowed to labor in a hospital even longer before anyone mentioned a c-section. It really depends on finding the right provider, whether that be a doctor, a midwife, or both.
Ironically, Kendra would likely done well birthing at home as she had a quick labor with a baby that wasn't ginormous, but she chose not to, and I don't see anything wrong with that.
Will this apply to the UK as well
ReplyDeleteDear Joe and Kendra, my family and I are going to watch it on TV. We can't wait to see it. We like all 42 family members of your family. Natasha B.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds great. Could you remind us one more time before the 6th and 7th. I'd appreciate it as I forget things quickly. Thanks Ellie.
ReplyDeleteWhere? Hate it how @tlc wont let us see the episodes from their site because we are in Australia, not the USA and @foxtel are nearly a year behind. Come on tlc.... some of us would even pay to be able to watch. Visa is Visa, it’s world wide grrrrdr
ReplyDeleteI follow the Duggars, but I find these "birth videos" rather unappealing. I won't be watching.
ReplyDeleteAnna's birth in the bathroom was the most unappealing of them all.
DeleteTime zone?
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping that it isn't portrayed undignifiying for Kendra - Anna's first 2 births were certainly undignifying and I felt she had little say in the matter, you don't when you're in full labour. It was a blessing Marcus was ok as he got stuck, never forget her pushing in their small bath.
ReplyDeleteIf it was on the hospital I assume we Will not see the birth itself. Wich I think its better. I find very contraditory for this family to advocate modesty and Share such intimate moments. And I AM not even religious.
ReplyDeleteNo thanks. The birth of your child shouldn’t be your cash cow. I’m actually disappointed. Joe and Kendra were so classy throughout the pregnancy. Sad to see they were just waiting for a big payday.
ReplyDeleteAgree. I too was disappointed in them.
DeleteThey are on a tv show. Ofcourse they have to show a birth. It is not a choiche.
DeleteAgreed!!
DeleteShowing the birth is absolutely a choice. Joe and Kendra aren't TLC's prisoners and could have insisted that filming Kendra in active labor was off limits.
DeleteI know I’m in the minority here, and I love seeing the new baby, but honestly I was hoping Joe and Kendra would have kept the birth private.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping that by "Watch Garret's birth" they mean "Watch Kendra begin labor and head the the hospital followed by the cute little baby after he's born." That I could handle.
DeleteIt's highly possible that only a few moments at the hospital will be shown, with the rest of the video dedicated to baby prep, a shower, etc.
DeleteTotaly agree
DeleteThat is way awesome! Cant wait to see Garrett's arrival!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see this beautiful little boy's birth!
ReplyDeleteI must have strange views, but it doesn't seem very Christian to use the birth of your child to make money on a TV show.
ReplyDeleteI guess being a part of the show is a job to them. They have chosen to share the birth with their fans. I highly doubt they will show something inappropriate on camera.
DeleteFrom an agnostic point of view, I just can't see how giving birth on or off camera is somehow related to how good of a Christian you are?
Actually, there's nothing either Christian or unChristian about showing a birth (modestly) on a TV show. The Bible admonishes us not to add or subtract from God's word.
DeleteYou don't have to be Christian to recognize avarice when you see it. Life's blessed events should not be considered potential income. Who here constantly complains about Kardashians? They also cash in on everything they do. See the resemblance? Why can't weddings and births remain private and meaningful, and not turned into a media circus with pictures for sale?
DeleteI watched the videos on her labor & she seemed to be in a lot of pain that an epidural would have helped with. I know it’s a choice to go totally natural but it does not make one a hero. I had one baby with a block & one with nothing due to his posterior presentation. But- I had 5 hour labors & was lucky. At least we already know Kendra’s outcome- a beautiful baby Garrett.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Joe and Kendra on the birth of Garrett. I think they will be wonderful parents. Joe is one of my favorite of the Duggar children. He looks a lot like my 19 year old son.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations ! Baby Garrett is adorable ,he looks like his mom : )
