Wow, what ever happened to a woman having the right to make their own choices. Does she not have the right to choose to stay home and care for her children without condemnation? If she chooses to stay at home she should be commended for putting her kids first. As long as her kids are taken care of though it should be her choice.
Anon@10:09- The condemnation works both ways. Sounds like you think mothers who work outside the home are not putting their children first and those who stay at home are superior.
I actually feel sad for your cynical soul. JD is obviously smitten with Abbie, I doubt he is faking that just for the sake of a TV show, he is not that good of an actor.
And TLC already had a courtship storyline in the bag with Josiah and Lauren, who are on the brink of marriage in real time, but their relationship hasn't been shown on the TV show at all yet. They could have milked 2 seasons out of that as they did for the Joe/Kendra courtship. Now they probably won't, but it's not like the show was at risk of being cancelled this year if a new courtship wasn't announced.
haters are going to hate... TLC's got more than enough for the new season: Joy and Austin taking care of newborn baby; Kendra and Joe going on honeymoon, starting a family; Jinger pregnant in Texas; Josiah and Lauren's relationship; family life with small kids for other Duggar kids... I don't even know how TLC will be able to handle so many events...
We haven't even seen Joe and Kendra's honeymoon yet! John David will likely get married this year, but at this rate we won't see the wedding on TLC until 2020!
Why watch and read the blog - if it is only to be critical of every single moment in this family's life. Yes, they choose to be in the public's eye. But still, why do people follow if it is only to make ugly remarks?
AFAIK side-hugging is fine during courtship, it's hand-holding that's reserved for engagement, at least for the Duggars. (Bates are less strict, they allow "full" hugs and hand holding during courtship, on the other hand they don't start courtship until they have known each other for about a year at least, sometimes even longer).
My parents went to the same church for 4 years before they started spending time together. It was a very small church and everyone knew everyone but they never really talked. They hung out for two weeks before my dad purposed. They got married three months later and would still be married today 34 years later if my dad had not passed away.

It seems like the Duggars wait about a year too before they court. they just don't show that. I don't know if they have all said how long they were all in the "friend" stage when they talked on the phone and spent time with family but it seems like they do this a while. Jinger knew Jeremy for about a year. Joy Anna, Joseph, and Josiah all knew their partners for years before they started getting serious. Not sure about Josh, Jessa, and Jill.
Very happy for them, but, wow, knowing each other just two months and potentially headed into a marriage is moving awfully fast. Weird seeing John David so chatty and animated, though. He's usually so quiet and serious.
It does happen. I was 26 when I met my husband, and we were engaged after 5 months, and we've now been married for 31 years. By that age, you've seen a lot of relationships, and you know what you do want, and what you don't want. And when I saw all the right things in my husband, that was it. But P.S. there were still a couple of surprises, haha, after we married, that we had to work through. Life is not perfect, no one person is perfect, and there's always work to do.
My husband and I decided to get married about 6 weeks after we met. We married 4 months later. After 33 3/4 years we're still married and still in love. Both of us knew without a doubt God put us together which I am sure is how John David and Abbie feel.
I didn't hear them say "two months" but "a few months" but I guess even if it's "few" as in 3-4 months your point still applies. If JD and Abbie were, say, 21 and 18 years old, I'd also be concerned that they're just infatuated and moving too fast and not taking the time to discern if they are a good match.
However, JD is 28 and Abbie is 26. Maybe they haven't ever courted anyone before, but I doubt they'll be marrying the first person they ever crushed on as some younger Duggars seem to have done.
Not only that, both have been out "in the world" working for several years, and not only for their parents. (JD does seem to work for Jim Bob in some capacity, but he is also an elected Arkansas constable.)
We also don't know how long they'll be courting. The latest Duggar courtships have been very short, a matter of weeks, but the couples had actually known each other for years before that.
My parents went to the same church for 4 years before they started spending time together. It was a very small church and everyone knew everyone but they never really talked. They hung out for two weeks before my dad purposed. They got married three months later and would still be married today 34 years later if my dad had not passed away.
if each of the married/to-be married duggars continued on the same 'course' that they each are on, relationship-wise and for having babies, 2019 could possibly have josh & anna, john-david & abbie, jill & derick, jessa & ben and josiah & lauren all making deliveries!! and, with 4 duggars of courtship age, i betting jim bob & michelle will most likely get their 20th grand-duggar in early 2020!!
I think that was a joke, not a serious vow to never marry on this earth. And technically John David is still a bachelor as he is not married yet. Guess we'll see who is left on earth after his wedding day! ;-)
Time 2:00PM Wed 6/27/18 I read about this on tuesday congrats Abbie & Johndavid. she is 26 is a nurse from Oklahoma. Lets all hope this courtship works.
Finally! This family with all 19 children is impressive. It's awesome to hear about the children that are married, but I was hoping that either John or Jana would start a courtship soon! So happy for them!
A person's value should not be measured by their courting or marital status. There are many very happy, successful and wonderful people who have remained single their entire lives, just as there are many miserable married folks.
Actually, he said he had rethought remaining a bachelor until the rapture, clearly meaning it hasn't happened yet, but joking he had decided to get married while we wait for it.
Busy - very busy time for the Duggar Family and their fans. Josiah & Lauren soon to be married. Jinger & Jeremy soon to become parents to a little girl. John & Abbie starting a courtship. I am looking forward to having the honor to watch these life experiences. BEST WISHES TO EVRYONE. . . . and - do not want to fail to mention, seeing Gideon and Garrett grow along with all the little ones.
They posted a picture with each other on a date at a baseball game, and I didn’t see anyone else with them so hopefully they’re doing this their own way!
Thanks for leaving your comments! We answer as many of your questions as we can, but due to the number of comments we receive daily, we are unable to answer every one. Our aim is to post all points of view, but we do not post anything that is profane, insulting, derogatory, or in poor taste.
They look like a very happy couple. I am so excited for them.
ReplyDeleteI love this picture. Of all the Duggars, he has the MOST INTEGRITY!! I wish him all the happiness in the world. GBless him and his new Love :)
ReplyDeleteHope she keeps working as a nurse after she marries not have babies right away at least one as an educaion
ReplyDeleteJohn-David is a pilot (PPL with instrument raiting) that is quite the education! It is far from easy.
DeleteI agree!

If she chooses to stay at home she should be commended for putting her kids first. As long as her kids are taken care of though it should be her choice.
DeleteI was curious about this as well. Will marrying into the Duggar family mean her nursing career will end? I hope not. Only time will tell...
DeleteI think she will continue her job. That is my guess.
DeleteAnon@10:09- The condemnation works both ways. Sounds like you think mothers who work outside the home are not putting their children first and those who stay at home are superior.
DeleteWhat a dig. John David's a pilot.
DeleteSo Happy for the new couple ! Is it just me or does she look like Jana ? Whatever she is a beautiful young woman & they look wonderful together.
ReplyDeleteI thought so too, I see the resemblance of Jana too.
DeleteI’m not sure how you see that, they don’t look anything alike.
DeleteI think she resembles Jana too, at least in this picture.
DeleteI thought the same thing! I think she resembles Jana. Have not seen John smile that big, EVER! He is in love! Congratulations to the Happy Couple!
DeleteYes she does look like Jana. Her smile and checks look like jana
DeleteMaybe a tiny bit. Very happy for both of them
DeleteWoah....he is giddy. Its so cute. Who knew he had it in him? Seems like such a serious dude.
ReplyDeleteLove can do funny things :)
DeleteThat's lovely news - to me she looks like Jana but I have no doubt Abie, is her own beautiful person. Both blessed to find each other.
ReplyDeleteWell now. TLC and Duggarville just figured out how to breathe life back into this show.
ReplyDeleteI actually feel sad for your cynical soul. JD is obviously smitten with Abbie, I doubt he is faking that just for the sake of a TV show, he is not that good of an actor.

DeleteIsn't JD the private one? I would not be surprised if they only release a few photos but do NOT televise their wedding, and good for them!
Delete12:23 They will televise the wedding. Trust me.
DeleteI would love to see it!
They'll televise the courtship, the engagement, the wedding, and the babies. Blogs will show the rest.
DeleteWhy watch and read the blog - if it is only to be critical of every single moment in this family's life.
DeleteYes, they choose to be in the public's eye. But still, why do people follow if it is only to make ugly remarks?
Congrats
ReplyDeleteCongratulations John and Abbie, look at that smile on his face, just love it :)
ReplyDeleteThe shock is over,I'm okay now,Lol. What a nice picture of John-David and Abbie, so happy for them...Jane
ReplyDeleteCongratulations John David!
ReplyDeleteNow if Janna can find a wonderful guy.
ReplyDeleteYesssss! I agreeeee!
DeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteAw. My heart breaks for Jana. Now she’s going to be totally alone raising all her siblings.
ReplyDeleteI agree, she should find a Nice farmer husband soon.
DeleteWonder if the parents strongly discourage Jana from courting or marrying so someone is available to raise all the younger kids?
DeleteThat looks like a "side hug". Are they courting or are they engaged?
ReplyDeleteThey are adults, and like all the other adults in the family are encouraged to choose the rules of their courtship themselves.
DeleteJust courting but Duggar track record all but guarantees that means an engagement soon.
DeleteThey wil be engaged soon. I think a december wedding.

ReplyDeleteIt would be nice to know a bit more about Abbie and her family. Best wishes to them.
ReplyDeleteLovely sweet couple; happy news! Looking for a short courtship, y'all! God bless you good! ❤

ReplyDeleteI love it. They are both glowing with happiness. Congrats John David and Abbie.
ReplyDeleteThey both look so happy!
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful news!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for John-David. Hardworking, he has always been one of my favorites. I wish them the best.
ReplyDeleteThis is one Duggar wedding I won't miss.
He's the private one - he might not televise his wedding.
DeleteCongrats, John-David! Looks like you won’t be a bachelor for too long!;)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations John David, Annie is a beautiful lady.
ReplyDeleteAnnie, who's Annie?
DeleteAbbie
DeleteA Beautiful Couple..
ReplyDeleteShe looks just like Jessa!
ReplyDeleteVery happy for them, but, wow, knowing each other just two months and potentially headed into a marriage is moving awfully fast. Weird seeing John David so chatty and animated, though. He's usually so quiet and serious.
ReplyDeleteI got the impression they'd known each other for a few years, but just started actually dating a couple of months ago.
DeleteUm, where are you getting two months from? They’ve known each other for a few years, but didn’t pursue a relationship until recently.

Delete7:21... It sounds like they loved each other very much. So sorry for your loss.

ReplyDeletesuch a sweet picture
ReplyDeleteSince John-Duggar proclaimed he will be a “bachelor till the rapture” does that mean we, including all Duggars, have been left behind😬😬
ReplyDeleteHa, ha, ha. I think he changed his mind.
DeleteLife seems pretty normal today, and everyone's still here! I'm thinking he was wrong with that rapture part.
DeleteI think that was a joke, not a serious vow to never marry on this earth. And technically John David is still a bachelor as he is not married yet. Guess we'll see who is left on earth after his wedding day! ;-)
DeleteLol!! Funny comment. Even though, sometimes it feels like it.
DeleteIt was a joke
DeleteSo happy for John and Abby. In your future post I would like to know more about Abby and how the two met.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are just to cute for words. Very happy for you both. May God bless you and your family.
ReplyDeleteJohn-David, I am soooooooooo happy U found love. She seems wonderful, a nurse, so she is a caring person, and I am so happy for U 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DeleteMust be. John David is in heaven.

DeleteJohn David will be the best husband. I am happy for this sweet couple. One wedding I will not miss

ReplyDeleteSOOOOOO happy for him!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the lovely couple. Abbie is a beauty. She looks like Jana.God Bless.
ReplyDeleteJoan,Marion and Marilyn
Curious where they are going to live? Is he going to build a house?
ReplyDeleteHe supposedly owns a house in Arkansas so most likely they will live in it after they get married.
DeleteBusy - very busy time for the Duggar Family and their fans.
ReplyDeleteJosiah & Lauren soon to be married. Jinger & Jeremy soon to become parents to a little girl. John & Abbie starting a courtship. I am looking forward to having the honor to watch these life experiences.
BEST WISHES TO EVRYONE.

Cute picture, so happy for them!
ReplyDeleteEeek! Great surprise! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteAbbie you lucky girl! You got one of the great men!
ReplyDeleteIs she a real nurse?? Does she work in a hospital, or does she just have a certificate?
ReplyDeleteShe's a LPN so she's a "real nurse".
DeleteI hope TLC will bring all the younger Duggar children back to the show. Miss seeing them!
ReplyDeletethat looks like a very close "side hug" surely at the ages of 26 and 28 they arent going to be chaperoned by his younger siblings!!!!
ReplyDeleteThey posted a picture with each other on a date at a baseball game, and I didn’t see anyone else with them so hopefully they’re doing this their own way!
DeleteYes. Why should they have to babysit when on a date? I think the engagement announcement will follow in short order.
DeleteI have an inkling that they're already engaged. I can't see her left hand... 😉😂
ReplyDelete
