It's hard to believe that Henry Seewald turns 16 months old tomorrow! That means that today is older brother Spurgeon Seewald's two-year-and-seven-month "birthday." Below is a new photo of Henry. Don't you just love his wispy, little curls?

I think it’s time some of the girls, particularly Jessa, owes her fans an update on their family planning ideology. Clearly if she’s not pregnant she and Ben are using some form of family planning.

While I wouldn't go so far as to say any of them owe fans an explanation, it wouldn't do any harm for them to clarify their current views, and if they follow their parents' path in this regard.

The Duggars, Jessa included, have been very condemning of family planning. If they have evolved in their convictions so be it, but their fans actually do have a right to know why.

DeleteAnd while this may not apply to Jessa herself, I recall similar insinuations about Michaela (Bates) Keillen, that she must be taking steps to avoid pregnancy because she didn't get insta-pregnant on the honeymoon. Then she wrote a heartbreaking post on her website, making her infertility struggles public. I got the sense she did that at least partly to refute that accusation.
But I'm sure some will say, "She was obligated to do that because she's paid to be on TV" and would expect any Duggar or Bates who has inferility to disclose it, too.
Jessa is still breastfeeding; it makes uterus contract, and so its more difficult to get pregnant. On the other hand, I think Jess and Ben are happy with their two adorable boys and want to give them a lot of attention. No rush to bring another baby into the world.

I don't think they look malnourished, if you look at their dads build, and even their grandmother they are naturally very slim so I think thats just their build. I do think they suffer from allergies though, Israel quite often has red puffy eyes, and I noticed a picture of little Sam recently and he seems to have the same problem. Jessas little boys are adorable, and do seem really happy.

DeleteNot to add wood to the fire, so to speak, but it's been our experience with families we know that are somewhat hyper focused on "clean" eating/Paleo/Keto/Organic and markedly athletic (with a family culture of marathoning), the children appear very thin and kind of wan-tending to look unhealthy. Not that Derick and Jill are doing this, but undue attention and repeated familial emphasis to food and fitness can lead to eating disorders and obsessive exercise (whether due to Type A personality, control issues, self-esteem/outside approval issues, performance valuation mindset, etc.). You can have too much of a good thing. It's a little worrying lauding Derick running marathons since he already has an underlying food-related issue and has evidenced poor health previously with no determined resolution.

Someday they will read those. If you are a parent,how would you feel to have the most precious part of you being ridiculed and torn apart? DeleteAnon 3:18. I agree with you. That's one of my issues with the Duggars. They have TV crews filming the birth of their children, the children are seen in magazines, on national TV, etc. I don't think it's in the best interest of children to do that.

DeleteI think some people on this board need to look up the definition of "bullying." It means "abuse and mistreatment of someone vulnerable by someone stronger, more powerful." That's not what's going on during the discussions on this blog. Nobody is forcing kids to do anything or trying to physically boss them around. "Bullying" has become such a buzz word lately, and it's being used whenever someone disagrees with an opinion here. In that sense, when you call someone a bully here, aren't you also guilty of bullying? Or at least name-calling, which is not supposed to be allowed.

I thinkthe vast number of posters are genuinely concerned about Izzy when they see pictures of him looking pale, wan, repeatedly squinting, or with facial swelling from allergies. I believe they're posting out of concern, not bullying. I read here regularly and get the sense that this little guy is dearly loved and when readers see pics of him like that, they're compelled to try and help by asking questions, offering advice, etc.

Their builds match their parents, Israel has allergies which is why he has puffy eyes, and the squinting is probably because of the puffy eyes OR he could just squint when he smiles just like many other kids do. People making rude comments are doing so in a way that is mean spirited and rude, not out of concern.

DeleteKnowing the way society is these days (not to mention the whole social media feeding frenzy), there's no way I'd expose my child or teen to everyone else's opinion...much less having them living out every phase from toddler tantrum to "first love" and birthing babies (along with their mistakes) on television for any sum of money. It's detrimental to the child/teen/young adult/young parent to have an ever present audience-they cannot step off their property without being expected to be "on". There is pressure, whether it's in the form of "we need to be a good witness for the Lord" or the unspoken pressure of having your parents counsel other parents on how to raise children "for the Lord". The children feel the pressure from their parents and their culture, even though they may never admit it to anyone else. There's also the constant fear of not measuring up and the stress of "performing" no matter how they actually feel. Who does that to their children??? That's not loving your children. Like it or not, they've put their children out there for public consumption, knowing society is often cutting and ugly. The children had no real choice in the matter.

They along with their children will carry the scars of public opinion the rest of their lives. Had what happened to them happened to a couple who wasn't living their lives on tv, they would have had a chance to heal and to shield ,their children from it all. But now they are in hiding pretty much. Nothing is worth having to be scrutinized like they will forever be.

I can't stand the show so this allows me to see the next generation and of course the young ones from the older generation such as sweet Jenny and Jordyn.
ReplyDeleteNo matter what Ben and Jessa have said in the past, they have the prerogative to change their minds. They are under no obligation to update us on their reproductive planning. In addition, conceiving easily for the first two doesn't mean you will continue to do so...and that is assuming they still wish to glow their original plan. They OWE us nothing. They can choose to share or not as they wish.
