For those who haven't yet heard the news, Joseph and Kendra Duggar welcomed their son, Garrett David Duggar, on June 8th. All the details, as well as a video message from the parents, can be found on Saturday's post. Garrett was the lightest of the 11 Duggar grandchild, although only six ounces lighter than cousin Meredith Duggar.

ReplyDeleteI mean, she's a kid herself! The younger you are, the quicker you recover. Plus, I bet the photo wasn't taken "just after" she gave birth, but probably the day, or at least a good few hours, later.

DeleteI agree, the poster at 9.00 comments are a bit harsh. Anyone that has had a baby knows looking as good as Kendra does in that picture even 2 weeks after giving birth would be an amazing achievement never mind within hours, so to look like that whether the photo was taken hours or a day after the delivery to me, Kendra has "just given birth". I think credit where it is due she does look very good & yes she may only be 19 but even so, I think she looks great & just because she is young does not always mean you recover quickly from delivery that has more to do with the delivery itself & not maternal age.

The Duggars themselves say that they're not perfect, so why pretend that they are? The worst of the comments get screened out. ReplyDeleteHe just looks like a newborn baby. I have never figured out how people can say a newborn looks like anyone in particular. I think they just look like a baby of whatever ethnic group the parents are.
Delete7:11, I disagree with that, although babies do change a lot even within the first couple days. They have different eye colors, hair colors, noses, chin shapes, etc. I think Garret has Kendra’s face shape.

I've noticed in many of the Duggars' photos that they wear a kind of tank top that is more modest than most I've seen in stores. I'm wondering if you could find out where they buy them? The former is on the world stage, the latter two are not that well known outside the US (in many countries they are unknown). Where I will agree is that it is wrong for young women in any walk of life to be expected to look picture perfect following the birth of a baby. They need to remember that HRH and TV/film actors often have a huge team of people to help them get ready and most are being paid for pictures, that is their incentive. Young women have enough pressures with how they look, this doesn't need to be another one. Kendra looks relaxed and glowing in her picture, and her baby boy looks healthy and beautiful that is what really matters.

Maybe he spent all night (or several nights) in the hospital on an uncomfortable cot or chair after hours of supporting his wife in labor. Maybe he took turns holding a crying newborn infant in the middle of the night. So many people are quick to make snarky or judgmental comments when they don't know all the facts, making the internet a nastier place.

DeleteThe only posts I have ever seen about Joe and Kendra are regarding their dates, wedding, or baby. I think it would follow that there would be mention of the work this young couple does as they set out on their own to establish a family. We all know life isn't free.
DeleteThe married Duggar women do work. Their lives are Counting On's main focus and are featured more frequently than their husbands.
DeleteIf Joe's job is reality tv then it is also Jessa, Joy, and Jinger's job. It also means that many of the Duggar kids have been working since they were infants and toddlers.
My understanding is that the Duggars own their own businesses and the boys are very busy with that. Used cars, commercial and residential properties, and maybe other things. My husband and I own our own business and, while it is not a 9-5 job, it is very time-consuming. I know it is difficult to understand business owners, such as farmers, when you have a job that you just show up to Monday to Friday. Two different lifestyles. One is not better than the other.
