    1. They deserve their own? For real? As if them having to share isn’t an insult. For all you know that’s their favorite picture. Get a grip.

    2. Oh I see that...they’ve never Ed had grandma in it before. Hmmm. Yeah Josie should hsvevher own.

Think they need to redo and update it.

      Btw happy 77 birthday

    3. Grandma Duggar has always been in the header. Before this version, she was next to Jim Bob and Michelle. I preferred it the old way, but it's a nice picture of them and not a slight against Josie.

    1. How is gun violence priceless? Try telling that to the families in Texas who will never be able to see or hug their children again!

    2. We already debated that last picture and all that it stands for.

    3. You think that Nerf guns kill?

      Delete
    4. Oh please 9:56... get over it. It's not real! Good guys with guns actually can save lives believe it or not

      Delete
    5. 9:56, get a grip, playing with nerf guns isn’t gun violence, it’s a toy that will not kill anyone. I was accidentally shot in the mouth with a nerf gun one time, and while it hurt I was fine after a few minutes. My dad served in the military and lost many friends in war, please don’t try to compare a toy with real violence and death.

      Delete
    6. And how is a foam dart gun equal to gun violence? Try telling Texans they shouldn't own any guns - even toy guns! - and let us know how that goes.

    7. Anon @ 10:01 It caused heated debate the last time it was used, which is why I question the admins decision to use it again.

    8. 9:06 7:02 people like to "play" it out in real life, that's how it equals to gun violence. No, the Duggars may not ever because they have God in their lives but a lot of these "shooters" in real life haven't had God in their lives...it starts from playing so many "killing" video games and playing with toy guns of some sort. They want to act out their "fantasy", "play", in real life now. Just a simple deduction I have made through life. Sorry it's too simple for some of you to grasp but life can be simpler than what we make it.

    9. I’m with 1:20....this picture while I find it fun and spirited, did cause a stir when they originally shared it.

    10. 10:04, this is 9:06, playing with a toy gun is NOT the same as a video game, you can’t even compare the two! A video game is realistic looking a desensitizes you, playing with a nerf gun DOES NOT. I’m sorry that’s too simple for YOU to grasp.

      Delete
    11. @10:04. I've played with toy guns (and real guns for that matter) my whole life and I've never once had the urge to go kill a person. If you want to make things simple, try this: blame it on the person who decided he wanted to hurt others.

      Delete
    12. 10:57, You physically point and shoot at a family member or friend when you play with a toy gun. It's simulating violence. You're actually hitting the other person if the gun shoots a projectile. How is that not desensitizing if you actually pull and trigger and, at times, cause an amount of pain? How is a game more impactful when you're actually doing the shooting?

  8. I am offended by the gun photo. I am a high school teacher and there have been two school shootings in the past two weeks that have killed and injured many people. I do NOT associate toy guns with fun and games. I associate them with violence. My students would be suspended or expelled if they brought a toy weapon to school.

    1. Grandma Duggar is not in school, so don’t worry. My kids have played with nerf guns their whole lives. They have respect for real guns and don’t play with them. Children killing other children have mental health issues. It has nothing to do with playing with nerf guns.

      Delete
    2. I’m the child of an Army veteran and am offended by your comment. If you want to have a problem with something gun related, then make it realistic looking M rated video games adults let their 7 year olds play, not nerf guns. This picture was not taken on school property, so your last comment is pointless. A toy gun is just that, fun and games, don’t try to make it into something bigger than it is.

      Delete
    3. There's not one poster here who would deny the tragedy of school shootings, the magnitude of the loss of each child, nor the impact on those surviving. With all due respect, these are clearly toy guns, not real guns. They do not shoot real bullets and do not have the potential to kill anyone. They're in a private home, not a school setting. They're not being shown with or by anyone under the age of 18. Grandma Mary is also wearing activity appropriate eye protection, to boot. There's no argument that school shootings are a horrific new reality for many of us, but this picture in no way advocates violence or school shootings in any arguable way and it is a stretch to make it so. I would be hard-pressed to believe that a teacher or student would be unable to tell that these Nerf guns are toys. If toy guns were truly the issue, the U.S. should have been rife with school shootings beginning in the 1930's, with school shootings rampant by the 1960's. Clearly, toy guns are not the issue...the breakdown in societal norms and morals are at fault, combined with the advent of technology that simultaneously isolates people from each other and allows for relentless targeted widespread bullying of an individual across numerous social platforms.

      Delete
    4. I'm not trying to be argumentative, I really am curious, would it be a problem if she was holding a load of water pistols rather than need guns?

      Delete
    5. And were those shootings done with a foam dart gun? Over in London, they have been having stabbings every day. I hope you got rid of all your kitchen knives. Seriously, this frantic attempt across the nation to blame anything but the sinful people committing these crimes is just making the situation so much worse.

      Delete
    6. Although the pic of the toy guns doesn't offend me, I do realize it is offensive to others. There could have been better pics to choose from. We have all seen that one.

    7. Kids have ALWAYS played with toy guns! It’s nothing new and no one went shooting up schools like they do now. Toy guns aren’t the problem and real guns aren’t either.

It’s mental health issue!!! Pure and simple.

    8. (Sigh) guns are not bad, Ok? It's the bad people who misuse them. It's sad that kids, especially boys can't play like little boys anymore. It's fine that you don't like it, but don't tell the rest of us how to raise our kids. Gotta teach the kids that guns are dangerous and they must be used proper (real ones). I have many friends who hunt and who teach their kids how to use guns and gun safety and they have no issues

    9. The more you try to take something away, the more kids will find a way to get it. Just sayin

    11. Anon. 9:07AM Real guns are part of the problem. My 6year old grandson has the same toy gun. The foam darts do hurt, I didn't like being hit with one. My grandson isn't allow to point it at anyone and we all set up targets for him to shoot at. Toy guns are fun when you use them proper...Jane

    12. @ 6:13 I find home schools that are too indoctrinated with conservative standards equally "disgusting," as you termed it. There are two sides to each coin.

      Delete
    13. Anon 6:13. Not everyone can afford to have a parent stay home and school their children. It would be nice if you weren't so disdainful of public schools that most of us have to rely on to educate our children. Moral values and standards should be taught at home. Blaming teachers for the violence they face on the job daily seems to be popular these days.

      Delete
    14. There was no homeschooling when Baby Boomers were growing up. We're the product of large school institutions, public and parochial. Nor were there widespread school shootings back then. So you can't blame the problem on schools. There is some other disconnect happening these days.

Pulling your kids out of school and sheltering them at home isn't going to solve this problem. You can't ignore social problems and hope they go away while you stay home. Ask yourself what you're doing to help with this issue. Are you voting for the right leaders? Are they working on the right laws? Are they funding mental health programs? Are they funding school health workers and counselors? Are they funding increased school safety? This is a multi-pronged problem and it's everyone's responsibility to help solve it. And surely everyone wants it solved.

      Delete
    15. I don't understand letting children play with toy guns. War is not a game. How is playing toy guns and games like paintball different from video games? With toy guns you're physically pulling the trigger. The nerf projectiles do have enough power to temporarily hurt someone. Why inflict pain even for a short time? Why minimize this action as just fun and games? If you're a responsible gun owner why would you allow your children to play with toy guns and then keep real ones in the house? Guns are tools for self-defense and hunting and should be respected as such.

School shootings are now an epidemic in society but let's not pretend gun violence hasn't been a problem in the past. Political assassinations where prevalent in the 20th century (before too) and there were mass shootings as well. We do need to address why is this now happening in schools because we aren't the only country that has mental illness and other countries consume the same media/movies.

    16. Homeschooling has been the best thing for my family. Public schools are indoctrinating kids with the liberal agenda. It's sad.. at least I can teach my kids about God everyday. Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

      Delete
    17. Ok no wonder public schools are failing... you all know there s something called the 2nd Amendment right?? You people can try to take that out of schools but there is no way it will ever be taken out of America. You are just going to have to live with it. The Duggars homeschool and believe in 2nd Amendment.. if ya don't like it, leave the blog.

    18. How you anti-gun people make it in this world, I have no idea

      Delete
    19. @ 9:20. Perhaps that points to a change in the public schools, i.e, taking God out of the schools and promoting unbiblical views.

      Delete
    20. @11:09. Because guns are so far from being the issue in these school shootings. I grew up playing cowboys and Indians and "robbing the bank" and going to jail - all fun innocent games that never once made me DREAM of actually doing it. As yet, I've never robbed a bank, lol. Playing with a dart gun IS fun and games. For that matter, shooting a real gun is fun if you do it safely. It is not the gun, any more than it's the beer can or the vehicle's fault when somebody DUI's. Give the responsibility to the person who made the choice to misuse things!

      Delete
    21. Anon 1:29. Liberals stand for respect for authority, love of country and respect for human life. Imagine that. The two groups have a lot of the same values but different ways of expressing them.

      Delete
    22. 12:17am - Pretty well. Our children don't stand the risk of accidentally shooting themselves with a gun at home. That's one of the problems with playing with toy guns, young children may not fully understand that real ones can kill them.

      Delete
    23. @7:01. The Brits are working on measures to reduce the use of knives. They, like my country, have strict laws banning certain knives, laws against concealed weapons. They are also looking at requiring all kitchen knives to have rounded edges so as to reduce the potential damage from a knife attack. Personally, I think that is an excellent idea.

London has only seen a blimp in the increase in knife deaths this year. Up to two days ago, there were 37 people fatally stabbed in London this year. The general public are appalled and are demanding something to be done. But London is still much safer of a city than say, Chicago or LA or any number of American cities.

      Delete
    24. It's much cheaper and easier to ban guns than to actually invest the time, money, and energy to fix a child/human being. More people are killed each year by drunk drivers, but the general public isn't all up in arms, protesting and marching to take alcohol away or suing Miller-Coors, Absolut Vodka, Jim Beam, etc. because someone was killed. Hypocritical, much? Instead, we'll rage against gun ownership, pass foolish laws like California's new gun ownership requirement (21 years-old), and pat ourselves on the back for winning the gun debate...conveniently ignoring the fact that the majority of school shooters didn't own the guns they stole (defeating the age of gun owner requirements), a significant number of MS-13 gang members shooting their victims are under 21 (and they rarely "own" their weapons either), and a large percentage of murders are committed with stolen guns. But we can all feel good about being "politically active". ;)

      Delete
    25. @9:41, this is getting ridiculous. Banning/regulating guns worked so well, now they're going to try regulating knives? What people REFUSE to understand is that those who have an urge to kill, will find a way to kill.

I just googled "London stabbings," and the top 3 google results were all headlines about 3 different stabbings in the last 1 day - one in Kensington, one in Chelsea, one in Ilford. To quote an article from The Sun, "Dozens of people have been fatally stabbed in the capital in the first quarter of 2018." According to this article, London has a higher murder rate than New York so far in 2018. For the love of Pete, there were SEVEN stabbings last night, 6 in the space of 90 minutes!

Feel free to read the artice yourself!
      https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/5251268/london-stabbings-2018-knife-crime-statistics-higham-hill-hackney-islington-mitcham-latest/

This is no "blip on the radar." This is a massive increase. In fact, since the gun ban in 1997, murder rates have never gotten as low as they were pre-gun ban, even with the introduction of many, many more police!

As for Chicago, wouldn't you think that whatever gun regulations they have in place could be easily classified as ineffective? After all, they lead the US in murders. How strange that they also have the strictest gun control in the nation!

The Brits can keep passing more and more regulations. But it's a people problem, not a weapon problem.

      Delete
    26. You do know there are stabbings in the United States? So the US has to contend with stabbings on top of gun violence. There is a people problem, I'm just grateful is difficult for terrorists and criminals to access guns in Europe or their would be a greater number of casualties.
As for Chicago, having restrictive laws can go only so far when Illinois borders Indiana, a state with lax gun laws. Keeping pointing to Chicago though while doing nothing about mass shootings.
Society recognizes DUIs are a problem. That's one of the reasons why the drinking age was raised from 18 to 21 and there are DUI checkpoints. In fact, if we regulated guns more like we do with automobiles our country would be much safer.

      Delete
    27. The thing is, London, Great Britian, Europe - these places that have outlawed guns want to point their fingers at the US, look down their nose and say, "If you care about saving lives, you'll do what we do."

Uh-huh, until you realize that murder rates have not gone down since London banned guns. It's not "saving lives," as nice and cozy and convenient as that sounds. I guess if you'd rather be stabbed than shot you could consider it a success. Otherwise, the facts are against you.

And as for Chicago, there will always be a "weak spot" that allow bad guys to get guns. Some way they can break the law, as they are doing now. What I don't understand is how people think that passing more laws will stop OUTLAWS. If they break the existing gun laws, you're durn tootin' they'll break any other law you can pass. And then the only people with restricted access to guns will be the people who actually obey the laws and are GOOD PEOPLE.

And did you have to have a background check to buy your car? Cause I did when I bought my gun.

      Delete
    28. That's why, as previous poster wrote, people in London are taking measures to try to reduce the murder rate. Taking action is key to prevent death. Shrugging off mass shootings and pointing to other things does nothing but allow more murders to happen. I don't want anyone murdered by gun or knife. I don't think that is really a debate. I do know that a single stabber would not be able to murder dozens of people like in Las Vegas or Orlando. That is a real fact.
By your logic there shouldn't be any laws whatsoever.
While you had a background check, others who have purchased guns did not have to do so. Not all purchases require them, I guess another "weak spot."
While background checks may not be required to purchase a vehicle, one is required to operate it. You go through a background check to obtain a drivers license. There is criteria you must meet and they test your knowledge and ability to drive.
There are good gun owners. Looking for ways to prevent unstable people and those who wish to do harm from gaining access to guns doesn't mean you want a complete end to the second amendment.

    3. 10:07, I’m not speaking for all others, in speaking for myself from experience, since this is something that has actually affected my family. Guess what? Gun violence doesn’t stem from playing with nerf guns as a child if you think that you’re ignorant.

    4. Anon 10:45. You do seem to have a problem when people have a different view of something. There's no reason to call people you disagree with "ignorant" or chide them by saying they "know nothing". I was affected by gun violence and my child didn't play with guns. It's a choice parents make for their children. I don't chastise parents who are OK with their children playing with guns.

    5. Anon 10:45. People can express an opinion that differs from yours without being told they "don't know what they're talking about" or are "ignorant. After my experience with gun violence by children didn't play with guns as the sight of any gun (even a toy gun) gives me flash backs. It's a choice parents get to make without someone else sitting in judgment on them.
