DeleteMarriage and children does not automatically mean a young man is mature and responsible. Also, fans only see what the Duggars wish the fans to see. We have no idea what Ben is truly like or how he actually supports his family. We just do not know. So, unless you are personal friends of Ben, you just do not know.
DeleteGod has warn us about false idols. That includes putting celebrities on pedestals and subscribing to them character traits we have no idea they possess. It is unfair to the celebrities.

DeleteI have a family member who did stay and marry the mother of his child. To outsiders who don't know him well, he looks very hard-working and responsible, "mature". In reality, he's very verbally abusive to his wife (who deserves far better than him) and his children are literally afraid to even talk around him. They try to fly under the radar. Marriage and multiple children don't guarantee maturity. Having said that, from what we've been shown, Ben seems to be an active, hands-on, involved kind of dad...a little immature at times, but he's still pretty young- he'll grow more in due time.

ReplyDeleteWow, so many Duggar birthdays in May! Jackson's is coming soon too. I wonder what is the most birthday populated month for Duggars. They have 3 birthdays in January (Jana/John and Joe), 2 in February (Henry and gideon),then 1 in March (Josh), 2 in April (Jason and Israel), 2 in May (Jill and Jackson) -- I don't count in-laws here --- 2 in June (Michael and Marcus), 3 in July (JimBob, Sam and Meredith), 2 in August (Jennifer and Josiah), 2 in September (Michelle and Mason), 3 in October (Joy, Johannah and Mackynzie), 3 in November (Jessa, Justin and Spurgeon), and 5 in December (Jinger, Jed, Jer, Jordyn and Josie). It would be even more interesting to see how they all are compatible by horoscope signs :).

DeleteWhy would horoscope signs matter; are you're expecting the 3rd generation Duggars to marry their cousins when they grow up? First cousin marriages are actually illegal in Arkansas.
DeleteIn ancient times, astrology and then astronomy were practices observed by priests and other scholarly or religious leaders. It was a very important way to know when to plant crops, expect rains, harvest, etc. Survival depended on being able to read the skies. They also tried to read and interpret "omens" from above, and that's where the 2 branches started to split into a science (astronomy) and a pseudo science (astrology).
DeleteSo do not discount astrology until you have studied it, or dismiss it as not fitting in with religion. It came from there and was a revered practice. The 3 "wise men" who visited the baby Jesus were probably Zoroastrians, priests who combined religion with "astrology" or a study of what they thought were the predictions of the heavens.
Michelle is a Virgo (Earth), JimBob is Cancer (Water), those two signs are very compatible. They would not be in good relation with Air sign (Libra, Aquarius, gemini) or Fire signs (Leo, Sagittarius, Aries). Their kids, starting from the oldest are Pisces (Water), Carpicorn (Earth), Taurus (Earth), Scorpio (Water), then Jinger a Sagitarius (Fire, then goes Joe (Capricorn, Earth), Virgo (Earth),Scorpio (Water), twins are Caps again (Earth). Jason is on a cusp Aries/Taurus (Fire/Earth). Justin is Scorpio (Water).

Looks like older kids are like in sinc with parents, they are all either Earth or Water. And the younger kids - not. Maybe that can explain why younger kids are grouped like separately.
The Duggars also said they don't go to the beach, and now they do. They said they don't watch TV, but they're on TV. They say they aren't worldly, but their girls make fashion vlogs. They say they aren't into college, but attend college games. It's really not a stretch to assume they may soon be into astrology.

DeleteI've always thought that the season you were born in did make a difference in your personality. Before prenatal vitamins, women who were pregnant in certain seasons would have had access to fresher food or more sunlight, creating changes in body chemistry that might be an influence on the development of the baby's brain. Men, too, would have had nutritional changes during the year. Babies once born would also have been exposed to different amounts of sunlight and nutrition as their brains grew. From that standpoint, astrological birth signs and the personalities that seem to go with them could make sense. I know I was a highly organized toddler long before I knew that was a strong trait associated with my birth sign.
DeleteAnon at 9:33AM: There is nothing inherently un-Christian or pagan about going to the beach, being on TV (unless you think BIlly Graham was un-Christian too), making fashion vlogs or going to college (Joe Duggar actually attended college albeit only for a year at Crown).
DeleteAstrology, or at least the kind that is used to create horoscopes, is totally different and I doubt the Duggars would ever get into them. I guess there could be some type of "Christian astrology" out there that they could find acceptable but I doubt it.
The only thing I see wrong with astrology is that the sun's actual position doesn't line up any more with the constellation for that particular birth sign/birth date, because of precession. Other than that, it's harmless.

The Duggars want nothing to do with horoscopes - it just seems like these posters are forcing their religious beliefs on the someone who disagrees with them. I know this is acceptable on the hate forums, but I can't get why it's being done on a blog which supposedly exists to give Duggar friends a place to read the latest news.

Delete@ 7:40 Organization is an asset for Virgos and Capricorns. Both make great dependable workers. My doctor and my hairdresser are Virgos, and my BFF is a Cappy. My doctor is always impeccably dressed, and his white coat is so perfectly starched that it could probably stand up on its own! My Cappy friend is in bank management. Thank goodness for those signs, which balance out some less-organized (for sure) signs. :)

DeleteIt's not selfish to want your own birthday. For years, my nephews had their birthday's lumped together because it was more convenient for everyone else. How selfish is that? The whole idea behind celebrating a birthday is to celebrate the unique individual- not one of a set. Not everyone wants a group birthday/birthday party. For some children in large families, it would be sheer heaven to actually be acknowledged as a person instead of always being identified by the size of their family. Please don't make assumptions about other people or their character.
