Four days ago, Derick Dillard completed the Hogeye Marathon in Northwest Arkansas. While living in Nepal, he ran both a full and a half marathon, but this was his first race in the United States. His time was 4:16:17. Do you enjoy running?

It was nice to see the younger children, esp. Johanna, my favorite along with Jackson. Tyler and Jackson remind me of the boys at school who like to dress up on occasion for no particular reason. Has Michelle had some kind of work done? She keeps looking younger and younger! She really looks refreshed!
ReplyDeleteLooks like she is using make-up like her older girls use which is very beneficial to looking good. She'd look even better if she dressed in more fashionable clothes.
DeletePoor Jennifer, not quite in the grouping.
ReplyDeleteJennifer reminds me how Jinger was and still is, her own person, and that can be a good thing...Jane
DeleteCompleting a marathon is a great accomplishment. It takes a lot od dedicated training, Derick must be really busy with work, school and training for a long distance race, he must never be home!
ReplyDeleteDerick isn’t in work and school. His “work” is his ministry “school” through the church, and he pays tuition rather than gets paid. It also does not seem to be a full-time gig.
DeleteWell .....it looks like Derrick got over the running, gagging problem.
ReplyDeleteGood for him....❣
Yes. Interesting how it coincides with NOT being on the show anymore.
DeleteHe said he still has it.
DeleteI love this post. It shows someone in the family doing something different
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 7:53 If it had been an actual Duggar running I would agree with you, but Derick married into the family and was not raised in the same way, so he really isn't doing something that unusual, many people run marathons.
DeleteThe poor girls could never run in a marathon at least not in a dress
DeleteThis makes me think about the time Jimbob and some of the Duggar boys ran a race in their jeans. I wonder if any of the Duggars male or female would consider training for and running a marathon or half marathon?
ReplyDeleteI used to run a mile 5 days a week until my knee gave out. Now I just walk for exercise. I never thought much about it, just found running very relaxing.
ReplyDeleteWow! A full and a half marathon in Nepal is pretty impressive! Kathmandu, where Jill and Jim Bob visited Derrick is 4593 feet above sea level. I live at about 387 feet above sea level, and do cardio three times a week. Recently we were in Nepal, at about 4400 feet above sea level, and I could hardly do 33 push-ups! Go Derrick!
ReplyDeleteActually once you acclimate to the altitude it's not that big a deal. I live a 6,000 feet and run regularly. Your problem was your body hadn't adjusted.
DeleteMichelle looks great!
ReplyDeleteMenopause will do that- I can state from experience... it's a new lease on life!
DeleteGood thing that he does sports. The Duggars never play sports and do not seem active. It is so healthy.
ReplyDeleteMichelle and Jill walked on a treadmill a few times. And Jessa took that photo op holding a barbell in a skirt and flats. Never say never!
DeleteThe kids have always been very active all over the property. Just because it's not a formal sport doesn't mean they're not keeping active and fit. Considering very limited electronics outside of school work, they need to do something with their time!
DeleteThey don't play any sports. A walk on a tredmill (in the past) is not the same.
Delete4:32 pm: They don't play organized sports but they do play broomball and four square (think those are the names)
DeleteThose shorts are to short.
ReplyDeleteNo they aren’t, they’re casual running shorts
DeleteToo short for what?
DeleteHaha, if they were much longer they wouldn't be shorts.
DeleteAre you serious?
DeleteAre you being sarcastic?
DeleteThe duggars wear long shorts or jeans. This is not modest.
DeleteThose are long shorts. Extremely long for a marathon runner. Besides, I don’t think his knees are going to defraud anyone.
DeleteRunning is excellent excersize. However, I don't really enjoy it. I walk:) Good going ,Derrick!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Derrick likes to run but I think it would be better if he got a job and supported his family.
ReplyDeleteEllie and Lily -- The comments are getting to the point where I come here for the comic relief. Thanks for the laughs. I mean that sincerely.
DeleteInteresting how you take this opportunity to make a jab at him.
DeleteI think it would be better if he does as God has directed him, which in this case is to further his studies in the ministry. How he does that is his business, not ours to opine about.
DeleteIt would be nice if Derrick got credit for giving up a career that would have paid more to minister and tell people about Jesus. It's an unselfish calling to help people and share about Jesus. I pray that you will understand that someday.
DeleteI thought he gagged when he ran.
ReplyDeleteWell done Derrick and a very respectable time too.
ReplyDeleteSo I assume and glad his medical issue got fixed when he was running
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice to see Jill run a marathon with him.
ReplyDeleteIt would be hard to run a marathon in a skirt I would think
DeleteJill wears pants now. And has a nose ring. I have high hopes she would run a marathon with Derick in appropriate running clothes.
DeleteIs the nose ring for real? I heard mix stories about that. It seems like Jill and Jinger are finding themselves and that is a good thing! maybe Jill will run with Derick next time.
DeleteSo the “gaggy thing” when Derick runs? Just a fabricated storyline??
ReplyDeleteThat stuff he upchucked wasn't fabricated. Thanks, TLC, for sharing those images so generously!
DeleteSo you think he purposefully made himself retch for the camera? I doubt that.
DeleteOr maybe his gagging problem is resolved?
Deletethis is an example of a hateful comment. this shouldn't be allowed on this blog. It's a baseless accusation. How about congratulating him on overcoming that obstacle. No, that would be to nice.
DeleteDerick and Jill ask for suggestions about the gagging on their own blog. So it's fair to talk about it.
DeleteSeveral male Duggars should join Derick on his runs.
ReplyDeleteWhy not the females? Girls can be runners too!!
DeleteRecent pictures of Josh show that he has gained quite a bit of weight. Ben trains regularly, and Derick runs they could team up to help him get fit and loose some of the weight and get healthy again.
DeleteNice to be kept up to date on Jill &Derick & family - also good to see Grandma Cathy with the little ones.
ReplyDeleteGood for Derick's taking part in the race and for his boys to watch.
way to go Derrick!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing this picture of the younger Duggar children.
ReplyDeleteI really miss watching them.
I don't like running. Looks like a large group was there to cheer him on. Congratulations Derick for running your first marathon in the U.S...Jane
