Whether they're picking fresh produce from their garden or redesigning a kitchen, the Duggar siblings can get the job done, but there are always plenty of opinions flying around.
For those who aren't able to watch videos that come straight from TLC, we always try to embed the YouTube versions when they become available. Below are a couple clips from the most recent season for your enjoyment.
Jana Duggar Shows Off Her Garden
Duggar Siblings Disagree on Cabinet Colors (Girls vs. Guys)

That would drive me nuts having so many people all giving their decorating two cents at the same time. I grew up with 5 very opinonated siblings and being a younger one, it could be very intimidating. Jessa appears to be a take charge individual and while she may mean well, she comes across as quite overbearing.
ReplyDeleteThe girls all watch HGTV now, so they're the experts.
DeleteI agree! She was rude.
DeleteThey have visited the Magnolia Silos many times and are therefore very qualified home decorators and remodelers.
DeleteJessa is a strong personality. She certainly keeps Ben in order. If Jinger likes her cabinets then she should keep them.
DeleteIt cracks me up how different the girls are from their Mom. Michelle is real gentle talking and puts everyone's feelings ahead of hers and yet the daughters are real opinionated and bossy. How did that happen. Lol. The boys seem like the gentle ones not the girls.
DeleteIt's great that they can do so many skills. Very handy. It saves you money if you can do it yourself!!
ReplyDeleteIf I were a Duggar sister, I'd just stick with what Jana decides. She has an excellent ability with home decoration, and a lot more experience and consideration for who she's decorating for than some of her siblings. (She seems to take into account Jinger and Jeremy's tastes) I'd be interested to see how it turned out! Beautiful home!
ReplyDeleteWhat "decisions" do you need to make when picking vegetable? Just pick the ripe stuff. Designing a remodel of a kitchen does call for decisions usually by the person who will be living in the house where the kitchen is located. It's always good to get a lot of options on a kitchen and then decide what works best in the available space for you.
ReplyDeleteThere were no decisions or opinions in the garden clip, just a bunch of over-eager kids about to go through that garden like locusts, had Jana not stopped them in time.
DeleteTime 9:15PM
ReplyDeleteI seen this clip of Jana s garden so nice. I love this family & The Bates.
Someone accusing the Duggars of family discord and bad attitudes in 3, 2, 1. . .lol, this is a real look into how large families operate, love it!
ReplyDeleteHaving 13 children, I have to agree. It's great. Totally hinest with eachother, and they get along wonderfully! You develop a tough skin in a large family and learn to value the opinions of others.
DeleteJD was right. Once you paint, you can't go back. And with paint, you get scratches that need to constantly be repainted. But what do they care? They'll probably be out of there in a couple of years.
ReplyDeleteThe next people will rip out those cabinets and remodel!
DeletePoor John David, seems to be the only voice of reason on many topics in Duggarland.
DeleteNobody ever listens to John D. Guess he needs a cell phone and Pintrest pictures to prove his point.
DeleteI've lived in a couple of houses with painted cabinets. I didn't find them particularly hard to keep clean. If they're painted with a good quality enamel they don't scratch any more than a wood cabinet. However, John was right about once you paint it's very hard to go back unless you want to spend a huge amount of time removing the paint and refinishing the wood. Most cabinets aren't made of quality wood that would be worth that sort of effort.
DeleteSounds to me like Jana and Jessa have the right idea, although painted cabinets are harder to keep looking nice.
ReplyDeleteIt does not matter what Jana and Jessa think. It is Jinger and Jeremy's home, not theirs. They are not paying for the house. They are not going to live there.
DeleteHelping is fine but it is not up to them to decide what to do or how to decorate the house.
The brown kitchen is horrible. They need a new kitchen.
ReplyDeleteThey NEED a new kitchen? Wow.
DeleteJinger should make a choice. It is her job te be in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteHer " job" to be in the kitchen? They both live there, they both can do kitchen chores. Does this statement mean Jinger can't utilize the library as its Jeremy's " job"?
DeleteWow that is a sexist comment @ 418!
DeleteI don't understand why they were so fast to get rid of those dark cabinets in the kitchen and equally fast to install an entire room of them down the hall in the office! If it made the kitchen look small...
ReplyDeleteI know 4:31! That made no sense at all. You hate them in one room but need a room full in another?
DeleteFor some reason, I equate darker shelves with a library and lighter shelves/cabinets with a kitchen. A library is a cozier atmosphere where you're reading, studying, etc., and your attention is less on your surroundings. In a kitchen, you can be doing a lot of manual tasks where your attention isn't always needed quite as much, and then you can let your thoughts soar. Goes along better with a light, airy room. That's my personal philosophy. :)
DeleteThere is a big trend right now for the faux farmhouse look which is what I think they were going for. The trend is for light coloured cabnets, subway tiles, and old/antique looking accessories. There are thousands of àccounts on instagram where people have transformed their entire homes and show others how to do the same, not to mention the Gaines show which Jessa has spoken about watching. The lighter colour did make the kitchen feel lighter and brighter.
DeleteJeremy and Jinger were fine with the original dark kitchen cabinets, it was Jessa and Jana pushing for them to paint it white. They were happy with the end result but it wasn't their idea. Jeremy got to decorate the office the way he wanted and chose bookshelves that matched his desk.
DeleteJessa seemed really rude they way she talk about their kitchen at least I thought. Not everyone can have a nice big kitchen. I still didn't like how she put Jeremy's books in the closet last time.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing to grow your own food and have chickens if you have enough land to do so with food prices and everything else going up in price I hope some more of the cute duggar boys will start courting by Christmas and it will be fun to see which boy will be next next year to walk down the aisle I am looking forward to Jana courting in the future soon
ReplyDelete@ 12:34 - my grandma did the same thing! It was completely normal for us as little kids (5-6 years old) to go help chop heads off chickens. We used to beg Grandpa to let them go and watch them run around headless! My husband doesn’t understand why I don’t think chickens are pets... 🤷🏼♀️
DeleteI'm sure the Duggars don't kill their chickens. I'm sure they die dignified deaths from old age, and then are given proper Christian burials.
DeleteMaybe grandma goes after them with her nerf gun lol!
DeleteLOL 4;05 and 2:37!!
Delete3:35 PM -- Are you serious? WOW.
DeleteHome decoration is no one's business but Jeremy & Jinger's. Many times Jinger said that they liked the existing cabinets. I also liked them. Painting cabinets, especially from amateurs doesn't turn out right. I can imagine what they will look like after a year. We all know the Duggars are hard on things, I suspect Jinger isn't any different. None of her siblings' business how they decorate their own home. Just my opinion. A silly plot going on here.
ReplyDeleteWe tried painting kitchen cabinets once. It's tedious, it takes multiple coats, every brush stroke shows, and if you don't jam yourself inside the cabinets to paint in there too, it looks silly. We gave up half-way through and decided to get all new cabinets!
DeleteIf Jinger likes her cabinets, why should her siblings be telling her to change them? It's her kitchen after all.
DeleteI don't think Jinger will be hard on her surroundings. She's not a rough-and-tumble kid anymore.
DeleteFingernails alone do awful things to cabinet doors. Rings, too. You will scratch a painted cabinet in no time, just with normal use.
DeleteIf you have a small kitchen with dark cabinets, painting them white or another light color is an inexpensive way to improve it. However most people are too lazy to do the job properly which involves taking off the doors, removing the hardware, priming and painting with a good quality enamel (two coats). Painted cabinets are not all that difficult to keep clean and quality enamel isn't prone to being scratched up.
ReplyDeleteNever mind all the opinions of people who aren't going to live in the house. Jinger and Jeremy should just tune them out and go with what they like.
ReplyDeleteI would like to know how many hours a day the Duggar kids spend studying. It seems that their education takes a back seat. Their grammar...not good. And Josie seems delayed.
ReplyDeleteYour comment is unkind. I don't think we see enough of Josie or the family's education plan to tell whether she is delayed or is not receiving an adequate education. It doesn't benefit her in any way to speculate on a blog if she has developmental delays.
DeleteChildren use the kind of grammar they hear their family use. They have little contact with people other than their family members. Take it for what it is.
DeleteJosie was a micro preemie when she was born. She probably will be a late bloomer...Jane
DeleteI paid Amazon fire for last season and I was not allowed to watch the episode in which Austin and Joy had their son. Anyone else have this problem? I never saw this gardening segment either. Wondering why I paid for the season if I can't watch all of the episodes?
