Interview with Amy

Most of you are familiar with Amy Duggar King, the Duggars' only cousin on Jim Bob's side of the family. She has appeared on the Duggars' TLC show over the years and has also been featured in spin off specials. Although her lifestyle differs from that of Jim Bob and Michelle's children, she says they were her best friends growing up and that she is still close with them.

Last week, Amy did an interview with a woman named Kate Casey, who hosts an internet radio program called Reality Life. If you are interested in hearing from Amy, you can visit Kate's playlist and click on Episode 85. Amy's portion starts at the seven-minute mark.

Please be advised that the interview contains a couple profanities and is not suitable for children. We have only listened to Amy's segment, so we cannot speak to the content in the rest of the interview.

  1. Thanks for sharing the update about Amy. I would love to hear a update about Anna's parents what are they doing now & her sister Priscilla Waller to see how her & Her husband is doing & Their kids. & More updates about the younger Duggar kids & Tyler what he is doing now I would love more updates about that Lily & Ellie.

  2. I encounter enough profanity in real life without watching it on a video clip, so no thanks.

  3. Wow. I admire Amy’s grit. Kate was super aggressive and wanted to know a lot about the Duggar family. I can’t imagine how hard it would be to make sure that everything you said was respectful to your family, but at the same time was your own opinion. I’d say Amy did a good job holding her own.

    1. I agree! Way to go Amy! Kate just wanted to get inside info and I’m proud of Amy’s courage telling her she didn’t want to discuss it! And as far as Kate’s question “why can’t we ask since they are on tv?” This is how I would answer. Ask the questions directly at who they are intended for and don’t use Amy as a middle man. Amy I think it’s great that you are willing to live your life differently without trashing your cousins life. We can all have respect for each other and so should Kate.

  4. You can tell Amy's upset because she thought the interview was going to be about her but instead the interviewer's goal was to gossip about the Duggars.
Hats off to Amy for brushing her off in a respectful and classy way.

    1. Exactly, I have a new respect for Amy!

    2. Agreed. Respect for Amy but not so much for the integrity of KateCasey

    3. Watch Amy's "Marriage Boot Camp" episodes and then decide...

    4. That show was terrible!

  5. I listened to Amy's portion and felt like whomever this Kate person is, she kept on trying to get Amy to divulge some juicy Duggar secret or something. At one point, I feel like Amy did a a good job steering her away, but this woman was relentless. All I could think of was Proverbs 18:8.

  6. I listened to Amy's interview (about 23 minutes) and I didn't notice any profanities spoken during her interview. Amy is very careful to protect her family. And she clearly loves her cousins. I have read stories in the past where Amy said the Duggar girls could never sleep over or play at her house...it always had to be in a more controlled environment and she always had to go to their home. She didn't talk about that in this interview, however she did say not to believe things that we've heard in the media before, so I wonder if all that was true or not. She didn't expand. We really didn't learn anything new at all today. At the end of the 23 minutes, the interviewer didn't even thank Amy for her time...which I didn't think was very nice. Still worth a listen though. Thanks for providing access.

  7. Thank you Ellie and Lily. I will need to pass on the interview due to the profanity. I've discovered that such language stays in my brain for too long. Thank you again. Have a blessed week.

  8. Amy is as sweet and good as her cousins. She didn't dish dirt about them.

  9. You handled that interview very well Amy. It came through loud and clear the love and respect you have for your family:)

  10. Ahhhh...same ol, same ol.

  11. Amy should of told Kim that if the only reason she wanted an interview with her is to find out the going on in Jim Bob and Michelle's home and life then interview one of their kids and not use Amy to get the information. I thought that was so disrespectful of Kim to do that to Amy. Amy has a full life and lots of talents and an outgoing personality and would have no doubt wanted to be able to share more of her own life instead of talking about her cousins family. She shouldn't be made to feel like she has to live in the shadow of her cousins because they are on a reality show.

    1. Amy was on her own reality show - Marriage Boot Camp. It was quite memorable.

    2. Amy has many talents?

      Delete
    3. The only talent we've seen was her attempt to sing on the show, which didn't go well. I'd love to know what all those record contracts were that she turned down. She had no trouble going on that other reality show and acting exactly as she said those record producers wanted her to act.

    1. I have to say, this interview made me respect Amy more than I ever had before.

    2. Amy was portrayed on 19KAC as the "wild" cousin (by comparison). Yet she claims she turned down record contracts because she didn't want a Brittney Spears type of image. Then she went on the marriage encounter show, which was totally out of control. I don't think she knows how she's supposed to act or what she's supposed to do. As evidenced by the interview, she knows that if she goes too far, she'll be on the outs with her Duggar family. Yet given the chance, she doesn't want to be anything like them. She's stuck in a hard place.

  13. I've always been really confused, but curious about Amy. I've heard a lot of things about her. Is she a Christian like the Duggars?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Maybe listen to her interview?

      Delete
    2. She says she is Christian but she also says she doesn't not follow the same people and principles that the Duggars follow. She was quite adamant about making that clear after the interview.

      Delete
    3. She says that she is, she's just a different denomination then the Duggars😊

      Delete
  14. Amy seems like a really nice person, like her grandma, and all the Cousins, Aunt and Uncle, and seems to have many of the same basic values that they have.

  15. Wow! This lady is extremely judgmental of the Duggars.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. She was clear that she's been asked often about her views on IBLP, which is why she responded. Her comments did not include any judgment or condemnation of her family.

    2. Any interviewer should ask some hard, probing questions. There are things about the Duggars that have been exposed and need to be discussed.

  16. wow i did not listen to the interview because i am not an amy fan but the even if i was i would not listen to an interview with profanity. why did you have this on this blog?! this is not good in any way.

    1. It seems as though you did not read the post thoroughly. They did not state Amy's interview included profanity.

      Delete
    2. Words must have been bleeped because I didn't hear anything that made my ears turn blue.

      Delete
    3. I think the blog post should of been more clear that the profanity is not pronounced by Amy. I listened only to her part, and heard nothing. My opinion of Amy went up, as she refused to answer questions that the family hadn't already answered, saying it's their choice to divulge or not.

      Delete
    4. Because Amy is part of the Duggar family. Just because you don't like Amy doesn't mean no one should.

      Delete
    5. Anon @ 10:42 Well said. Posters here are willing to forgive Josh and want to see more of him, but are unwilling to watch Amy who has not done anything wrong, they seem very confused people to me just saying!

  17. I listened to the interview. She really respects her family. I’m not sure if she’s seeking attention.

  18. If it contains profanity, it's not suitable for me either. No, thank you.

    1. It has the H word, and the interview lady misuses Jesus' name

  19. The interview appeared to be a "fishing trip" to get information on her more famous relatives. I thought Amy handled it well. That probably happens to her a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I started at the seven-minute mark, was glad I didn't hear profanity. Amy is fortunate to be close to her grandmother, and grandma Duggar is fortunate to be close to her oldest granddaughter. Thanks for sharing Lily and Allie, the interview was interesting...Jane

  21. Amy would not be known if it weren't for her aunt, uncle, and cousins. She never said no to being on the show. She seemed to enjoy acting the way she did at Josh's wedding. So it should come as no surprise that the interviewer would ask her questions about the rest of the Duggars.

  22. For those who didn’t want to listen to Amy, I urge you to reconsider. It sounded to me like Amy was very respectful of her family and if she ever seemed to disrespect them in the past it seemed to me like she has turned a new leaf. She deserves some grace I think she genuinely wants to respect her family.

  23. I'm surprised to say that I have a new respect for Amy. The interviewer was lower than low. Clearly, anything of "light" is just absolute foolishness to her.

  27. I think Amy did a good job being honest but respecting her family. I love how she said the guys are such hard workers. Especially with so many comments on here and in tabloids saying the Duggars don't work and just live off the show. I wish they would show more of that side on the show. Good job Amy.

  28. can we please get an update on Josh and Anna, Jana and John David and all the younger kids starting w/ Jedidiah? We rarely hear anything about them. Also how is Kendra doing?

    ReplyDelete

    1. We can't get an update unless one of those couples offers information. Leave Josh and Anna alone to continue working out their marriage.

  29. Maybe Amy should have listened to Episode 7 of the podcast before she agreed to the interview. If she had she would have know what kind of disrespect this person projects. I will never listen to this interviewer again.

    1. Asking the obvious questions that everyone wants to know is not being disrespectful. Amy resorted to a lot of "I don't know..." answers, which was strange. How can you not know some of that stuff?

    2. Not everyone wants to know.
