Justin Duggar, November 2017
As part of his 15th birthday celebration, Justin ordered the chocolate mess sundae at MarketPlace. Over the years, the Duggars have indulged in quite a few chocolate messes. Not only is it a Duggar favorite, but it's known throughout Arkansas as being one of the state's tastiest desserts. The glass is actually dipped in chocolate--what's not to love about that?
For those who have asked if the chocolate mess is "forced" on the Duggar kids or if they are "allowed" to choose a different means of celebration, we assure you that they are free to select a different restaurant. In fact, we have posted many photos of such birthday celebrates.
To see how Justin has changed this year, check out this photo of his 14th birthday chocolate mess:
Justin Duggar, November 2016
Two weeks ago, Spurgeon Seewald celebrated his second birthday with his first taste of chocolate mess. (Good excuse for Jessa and Ben to order their favorite dessert...after giving Spurgeon a few bites, of course.)
Spurgeon Seewald, age 2
Spurgeon enjoyed his taste, although his reaction was a bit subdued. How many choco-holics do we have out there who think they would enjoy this dessert?

Count me in!๐ซ๐ซ๐ซ๐ซI love chocolate! Lily and Ellie you need to try chocolate brownie cake. It's simply divine!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to make my own version of the chocolate mess because we won't get to Marketplace anytime soon.
Regina, that sounds delicious! Would you share the recipe?
DeleteIt does sound delicious. Where I live we don't have Marketplace (that I'm aware of).
DeleteChocolate brownie cake sounds so good. Could you put the recipe out.
DeleteI wouldn't eat anything from a vat that the restaurant dipped dishes in all day long...
ReplyDeleteThey are made to order and they don't keep a vat of chocolate sitting all day long.
Delete@9:48 What's the difference between dipping serving utensils in it or clean dishes?
DeleteWell, that didn't take too long! ร love that Justin loved it, that's all that matters. ♡♡
DeleteHave you ever checked the sanitation grades of the restaurants before you go to them? Quite eye-opening sometimes.
DeleteFunny you should mention that, 10:31 because I checked this restaurant's health rating and I wouldn't want their silverware dipped into anything.
DeleteIn California, the sanitation grades are posted right on the front door.
DeleteIn NYC, sometimes they try to get away with disguising their B or C sanitation grade papers. They'll turn them into one of the letters in the name of their establishment. They'll stick other lettered papers like it around the grade paper in the window to spell out the name. Very deceiving. Very NYC!
DeleteI have never had a Chocolate Mess before, but I think that I would LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteWow looks good Justin the chocolate milkshake.
ReplyDeleteJust me, but I don't think he's changed all that much. I do think you can definitely tell the Justin and Joy are brother and sister though. :) Happy Birthday Justin!
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't think his face has changed drastically either. He was such a fun little boy. I miss seeing them all when they were younger. Wish TLC played reruns of the older episodes.
DeleteI’m allergic to chocolate so no thank you.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to cry, and then go eat some chocolate for you.
DeleteAw, I'm sorry you're allergic to chocolate! I would hate that.
DeleteThat stinks for you
DeleteI'll have a chocolate mess sundae, it looks yummy!!
ReplyDeleteThey must be there virtually every week with all the birthdays they have.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever known a Duggar to turn down free anything? Even if it means they have to dress like a pirate or a cow.
DeleteWell, that was kind of rude, 3:03.
Deletewho said that it was free?
DeleteThey've said it before, and Yelp reviews confirm it. Birthday day, it's free.
DeleteThey're free on your birthday. That has been the point of the Duggars always posting these pictures. Haven't you seen?
DeleteSimply Scrumpicious! Count me in when ordering that dish!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on turning 15 Justin!
Oh Spurgeon! You are adorable. Not a baby anymore. And the Chocolate Mess? Might have to visit Arkansas soon!
ReplyDeleteLooks absolutely delicious!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to try one just once (and how silly of people to think they "force" their children to eat them - really?).
ReplyDeleteI don't think anyone thnks the Duggars force their children to eat Chocolate Messes. I think some posters may have wondered if the Duggars make all the children go to Marketplace Grill for their birthdays because let's face it, with 19 children, that's a lot birthdays close together. I think some may have thought that Michelle and Jim Bob make them all go to Marketplace Grill for convenience sake, so they wouldn't set a precedent of running all over to 21 different places for birthdays each year (including Jim Bob & Michelle's). I think they were questioning it because what are the odds that one place and one dessert is going to be the favorite of all 19 children? They may have missed other blog posts where a birthday was held at Chick-Fil-A or Cracker Barrel or Chuck-E-Cheese. It's not unusual for many parents to take their children out to the family's favorite restaurant on the child's birthday, rather than going to each child's favorite place on their respective birthday. My parents always allowed us to choose within reason and budget, but that may not be everyone else's normal.
DeleteIt looks to good even in pictures. It is some think I would love to try out if I'm ever in Arkansas.
ReplyDeleteJustin I hope that you had a great 15th birthday yesterday!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Justin! My children always request brownie trifle for their birthdays. They have nicknamed it "goop."
ReplyDeleteI know I would love it! But we don't have a Marketplace Grill here in Michigan
ReplyDeleteYes this looks delicious. Hope you had a good day Justin.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Justin God bless ๐๐
ReplyDeleteHas Justin changed? The two pictures look almost exactly the same.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Justin. I pray for this family, they are full of controversy, might be time to take a step back and reflect on what life's true meaning is all about. God Bless.
ReplyDeleteMeeee!!! I love ❤️ Chocolate desserts with some vanilla icecrem is the best!!!!
ReplyDeleteNow Jill wears pants! Fine no problem. I think she along with Jinger) should retract what they have said and printed over the years. Say one thing, do opposite.
ReplyDeleteWhen the girls were young they thought one way, now that they are married they think another way. Just as I did when I got married. But maybe they will write another book just for you. Lol..Jane
DeleteI saw a picture of Jill in pants. She looks great in them!
DeleteI’m curious when did they start doing this as a tradition? In the past they’ve always taken the kids out for ice cream and jet them choose an event to do, such as indoor rock climbing, sky diving, indoor race car driving. Just wondering.
ReplyDeleteI find it quite interesting how close the Duggar birthdays are to my own kids birthdays... Justin Nov. 15, 2002... my daughter Nov. 23,2002; Jackson May 23, 2004... my son Apr. 29, 2004; Johannah Oct. 11, 2005... my foster boy Oct. 19, 2005; Jennifer Aug 7, 2007... my foster girl June 29, 2007; Jordyn Dec. 18, 2008... my son Jan. 25, 2009! Interesting too, my sister had twins (boy/girl) Jan. 12, 2005 and the duggar twins (boy/girl) were born Jan. 12 as well (only a few years earlier!!! We are from NW Ontario... when our children were 6 years and under (the Christmas Michelle was in hospital with Josie) we made a trip South and actually stayed a night in Springdale Arkansas! We asked about the Duggars but nobody in the town would say a thing because we were obviously tourists!
ReplyDeleteI find it interesting that you'd post your children's birthdays. That is a piece of identity that credit thieves like to take. And you even gave your location area... Might want to pull your comment.
DeleteWhy aren't you promoting Derick's latest campaign asking for money? You usually post everything they're promoting.
ReplyDeletePerhaps because this post was to wish Justin a Happy Birthday.
DeleteI'd be completely embarrassed if any of my loved ones solicited donations for such a "cause." This isn't the first time Derick has done this, either. Even more disturbing is the church with which he's affiliated encourages it.
DeletePerhaps because this post was about a birthday celebration for Justin and Spurgeon.
DeleteJust curious - do any of the grandchildren get motion sickness?
ReplyDeleteIt has not been mentioned so I hope not.
Why would you care ? What does motion sickness have to do with the topic of these comments?
DeleteI'd happily give it a miss although probably smells wonderful and my teenage son would love it too. Justin looks more like Jill now I think.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Both take more after Jim Bob than Michelle.
DeleteJustin looks very much like Jim Bob when he was younger. Jim Bob was only a couple of years older than Justin is now when he married Michelle. Look at some of their wedding pictures from 30 years ago.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Justin! Miss so much seeing all the younger kids as they grow up. I do enjoy Counting On, but agree it's a little repetitious. This could easily be fixed, but I will watch the show no matter what, because I enjoy and appreciate all the Duggars.
