Didn't we already see Joy's wedding? Come on, TLC. You focus WAY too much on weddings. And courtships. And goofy engagement scenes. What are you going to do when you run out of those? Oh, I know...babies. This show has become soooooo boring and predictable!!
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to watch it!
DeleteWell, nobody said you have to watch it.
DeleteTHEN QUIT WATCHING, AND QUIT COMPLAINING. THERE ARE SOME OF US WHO ENJOY THE SHOW!!!!
DeleteThen don’t watch I think it’s cute and I for one am excited to see everything obviously you have nothing better to do then complain
DeleteThen don't watch it anymore. It is that simple! :)
DeleteSo, don't watch it then. I mean, seriously, if you are so bored with it - don't watch!
DeleteI love the Duggers! I look forward to everything going on with them!
DeleteEasy as 123 stop watching. I love the show and can't wait to watch. You should move on and stop being a negative troll.
DeleteNo, don't quit watching and don't quit complaining. Things will never get better if TLC thinks they're doing an OK job, when they're not.
DeleteThen don't watch it, I Love the Duggars thru and through, I wish TLC would keep them on all year round with all of the family, I have learned so much from Michelle and Jim Bob, just Love them to pieces.
DeleteYAY for Joy's wedding! I know I always watch all the Counting On episodes more than once...I usually miss something the first time through! So this makes it easy to see again. Plus, I'm sure there will be different scenes and details. I know that I am definitely looking forward to watching the wedding now that I feel I "know" Austin a little bit more, after seeing him through the season so far. I must say, I actually really like him a lot. He seems funny, but knows when to be serious and work hard. Good pick Joy!
DeleteYou know seriously you don't have to watch it quick cutting down people simple as that some of us enjoy the Duggars shows....
DeleteWhy does the heading say "NEW" for Joy and Austins wedding? It's already been televised.
DeleteI don't think the original poster is necessarily wrong....TLC is WAY behind on the time line. I think because of this they may lose viewers....think that's all the original poster meant. And if the show loses viewers TLC may not keep the show. Think people are more fed up with how slow the network is to catch up on real life events. Just my humble opinion.
DeleteThen go watch those Kardashian and that Jenner dude/ dudette....
DeleteI love watching the show. I love courtships, weddings and babies...Jane
DeleteI think we need to remember that even fans of the show can have different perspectives / viewpoints. I am a fan of the show but I also agree with10:27 comments. Consider two things here.... telling someone not to watch is not going to help the ratings for this show. TLC is really not being fair to us fans by replaying old content. In all fairness this comment was not at all offensive as it is not mean spirited but rather truthful. This show cannot survive for much longer if this type of format is continued. I hope to see Jana or john David get married but other than that the show is becoming very dry with old news. Remember I am a fan too and I feel a lot of people jumped on the bandwagon for some one who was truthful.
DeleteTo all you folks firing back with, "Just stop watching!": Any show will be canceled if the ratings go south and alienating viewers is a sure path to accomplishing this. You may like things as they are, but TLC only cares about their bottom line.
DeleteWell said 7:35. If enough fans "just quit watching", TLC will drop the show when it becomes a losing venture. I think some people think TLC has the show on because they just love the Duggars so much. Its a business pure and simple. So to dismiss our disappointment with how the show has devolved is both arrogant and condescending.
DeleteWrite to TLC, let them know that while you like the show and the family is there any way to make content more current. I’d like to see more every day scenes from the lives of the couples, how they manage being modest in an immodest world, what are their churches like, see just you know an average not centered around an event.
DeleteI can’t wait to see Joy’s wedding again. I now know a lot more about Austin, so the wedding will have more meaning to me.
DeleteKathy I agree with you. I think if the show keeps just centering around weddings, births and engagements the audience will just be young unmarried girls watching because who else could relate to those scenarios. They should move in the direction of the husbands working jobs and the wives doing what most of us do. I think most people are finding it unrealistic of a life to even relate to anymore. The Bates are much more realistic because their men have careers and the wives are like us etc. I love how the Bates are involved with their Church which is what most of us do also. Their married daughter produces beautiful music too. They just have so much in common with us that I find myself just watching their show now.
DeleteI'm glad they replayed the wedding, I missed the first airing!! Thank you Lord and TLC!
DeleteThe way TLC has chosen to present these timelines is beyond bizarre. Even reality shows like the Kardashians and Teen Mom - where fans are able to track the cast members' lives in real time - air chronologically. Why is this show so desperate to air the "goods" early and then re-air all the preceding content? Bizarre.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good point and this is where / why I think TLC is very unfair to us viewers.
DeleteI think its because the weddings are the big draw, most of the fans who watch are female, and who doesn't love a wedding. Sadly though it seems that weddings are all TLC have and viewing figures are down for the show, so they rush to get the wedding aired to increase ratings, and keep people interested. Fans need to remember that TLC is a business, and its bottom line is money, if viewer figures continue to fall the show will be cancelled.
DeleteI really wish they would stop showing the weddings first and just show us things chronologically. The way they do it is so frustrating.
ReplyDeleteIf they wait, then everyone complains that they are 3 months behind. They can't win. So either watch and enjoy or change the stinking channel. Good grief.
DeleteThey are scraping the bottom of the barrel with this show. Someone else had better start courting or next season is in peril! Which is a sad way to live life, needing something like that to feed your TV show all the time. Can we please start seeing some other families on your network, TLC? Families with more interesting and genuine things going on? Families with things that most of us can relate to? Is that too much to ask?
ReplyDeleteWATCH A DIFFERENT CHANNEL. THIS IS NOT COMPLICATED FOLKS.
DeleteIf everyone watched a different channel, the ratings would be zero, and the show would be canned. How about encouraging TLC to IMPROVE the program, and not have people turn away from it? Otherwise, you're all simply watching the train wreck.
DeleteIf they watch a different channel that is less viewers for the show and that means it is cancelled. They have an opinion.
DeleteAnon 11:17. The little couple is a good show. I watch that one and it is real relatable to what our lives are like. Jen works as a Doctor and Bill her husband has a pet store. They seem really down to earth and are hard working parents raising 2 adopted children. They are funny and fun loving people and you will find then an inspirational. They are a lot like us. I would love to meet them one day : )
DeleteThey need more families like The Little Couple. Fewer families "out on the fringes."
Delete9:19 -- So true. All those rooting for people to turn it off it they don't like it are, in essence, rooting for the show to be cancelled rather than improved.
DeleteAll caps is very rude.
DeleteAm I right to assume we will not be seeing, nor hearing anything about Samuel's birth?
ReplyDeleteSomething is just not right about that. Every other birth has been televised over and over, except this one. It's not even spoken of. I still say she had to have tubes tied and no more natural children and for some reason doesn't want anyone to know.
DeleteI doubt it. They are very quiet about it.
DeleteIt's possible he has health problems and that's why they are in hiding.
DeleteExactly my question. I think Jill had a traumatic birth with Samuel and so they opted out of making an episode out of it to protect her privacy and emotions during her difficult time. I can understand that.
DeleteThat birth happened just as Derick left SOS (among other things). I think he just wanted the cameras out of their faces. Sell the story to a magazine and call it a day.
DeleteI never really thought about it. Because all we have heard about are weddings. I do hope they say or do something about the birth. But clearly something did go wrong. It would be nice to hear how it went and how they are doing
DeleteWe have seen the wedding yet here in the UK
ReplyDeleteWhen will we see Samuels birth? They totally glossed over it
ReplyDeleteThe show hasn't gotten to the point of Jill's birth yet. She is still pregnant on the timeline on the show.
DeleteJust a couple observations....If TLC is to the point of showing Kendra and Joes wedding, then I echo what others here have said - What about Samuels birth? He was born in July, 2 months BEFORE Joe married Kendra in September! I don't see him mentioned AT ALL in the October 23 episode! What up with that!? We see the Duggars posting videos to each other if any of them so much as get a hang nail, yet, barely a mention of Samuels birth. Not even pix of Jimbob holding him, none of Jill's siblings holding him. Something is amiss here. Don't know if something happened to Jill during the delivery or if the Zika virus couldve affected Samuel. Didnt help matters that Samuels first picture shows him with an IV and a heart monitor, not routine for newborns either. Odd too that almost every picture ive seen of Samuel he's wearing mittens! Cut his nails, baby's need tactile stimulation with their fingertips, get rid of the mittens. Also found it strange that he would have so many different pairs of mittens too! Ive seen at least 4-5 different ones. If there are issues with Samuel, I wish Derick and Jill would let us know. I'm sure most people on this blog feel as I do, prayer is a very powerful thing, if prayers are needed, we would happily say an extra one for all the Dillard's! In fact, I'll say an extra one tonight! Certainly can't hurt.
DeleteThe other observation I want to comment on is TLC showing events out of chronological order. Viewers complained and whined because a particular wedding was shown so much later than when it actually occurred. A whole 2 months AFTER a couple got married, TLC was showing the couple just beginning to court. So what did TLC do? They did exactly what theyre doing now, they showed Joy and Austins wedding immediately when the new season started, that way the viewers saw it ASAP and then TLC backtracked showing them courting, the proposal, buying "the dress", picking the cake, bachelor/bachelorette party etc. But viewers STILL aren't happy now that they got what they wanted by seeing the wedding so quickly. If they didnt backtrack to when the couple started courting, there would still be complaints! Can't make everyone happy, so TLC should just do what they think is best, some people are NEVER going to be happy!
Actually, 7:34, the latest picture of Samuel from a few days ago on this blog showed him without the mitts.
DeleteWow 7:34 you wrote a book.
DeleteWhy Joy's and Austin's Wedding again. We seen it. She expecting already. We do not need to see her wedding over and over.
ReplyDeleteWe saw a one-hour wedding special. This will be a 2 hour show, with more of the details included.
DeleteThey did the same with Jinger and Jeremy's wedding. TLC showed it right away, then showed all of their wedding prep, and finished off the season with a repeat of their wedding, but a more detailed version than the first airing. This will be the same for Joy & Austin and then probably the same for Joe & Kendra.
DeleteWhy are they airing Jo and Austin's wedding again? Nothing new going on with the family. Let's see more of the courtship of Joseph and Kendra. It's been so boring watching this stuff lately. But I gave it a chance and hope it gets better.
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of TLC's handling of this sickly "season", if you can call it that. We have already seen Joy's wedding. Why re-run it? What happened to Sam's birth? Why are they ALL ignoring that? Most of us speculate that either Jill had a hysterectomy, can't conceive children anymore for another matter, or something was not right with Sam's delivery or development. Ignoring these obvious questions only makes the speculation worse. I hope both of them are ok; just perhaps they were let go from TLC for being too controversial off the screen?
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the "most" part. Impossible to tell without taking a poll. Some people, like me, figure if they want to tell us something about Samuel's birth, they will. I'm not bothered by it. I take what I get and don't waste mental energy or time trying to guess about these things.
DeleteThat's what they did. Too much political correctness
DeleteI love your point 4:49. I am the same way. If Jill wants us to know something about the birth of Samuel then she will tell us. It isn’t affecting my life in anyway if I ever find out or not.
DeleteI'm about as interested in watching wedding again as Joy was planning it.......😬
DeleteShe wasn't subtle about letting it be known she wanting to get on with the "honeymoon."..😚😚
To all those who tell people to quit watching...what's with the take it or leave it attitude? The Duggars are interesting and have so much available material beyond weddings, babies, courtships, and engagements. the people complaining want to continue to follow but are frustrated because nothing interesting is being shared. I can think of 25 topics just right now that would be interesting and I bet so can the others. Constructive criticism meant to encourage their fan base is not hating.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention, if enough viewers get bored and stop watching, ratings will drop and there won't be any show at all. Which might be just as well, for the whole family's sake.
DeleteTLC needs to read feedback. It needs to be said. There will never be an improvement if they think everyone loves the current format and all the rehashing and rerunning.
DeletePlease do not refer to Kendra as Mrs. Joseph Duggar. It is extremely sexist and outdated. Why not use Mrs. Duggar or Kendra Duggar instead? She is her own person separate from her husband.
ReplyDeleteIt isn’t outdated or sexist. The Bible says when a man and woman marry that they become one flesh. I am sure she doesn’t mind at all being called Mrs. Joseph Duggar.
DeleteI agree. Saying Mrs Joseph Duggar brings us back to the 1960’s. If you're addressing the couple formally, it is fine to say or write Mr and Mrs Joseph Duggar. Individually though she is Kendra Duggar.
DeleteI agree. Calling someone "Mrs. Someone Else" is so rude. Isn't it enough that she gave up her last name? Can we at least acknowledge that she has a first name beyond "Mrs.?"
DeleteThe proper name for a wife is Mrs. Joseph Duggar. If you don't want to use the husband's name, then you're just Kendra Duggar, without the Mrs. If your husband dies, you're Mrs. Joseph Duggar. If you divorce, then you're Mrs. Kendra Duggar. That's just etiquette. Words mean something.
DeleteIt's not sexiest unless you choose to view it that way. It's all about perspective. Mrs. Duggar still has joes last name and it's her choice to take his last name. She doesn't have to do it. I don't find it sexist anyway, a marriage unifies you into one symbolically, so the name represents a union. Not a separation. Have a positive outlook.
DeleteIt is sad that our society has become so casual that proper etiquette offends people. More offensive to me is when someone refers to a couple as 'Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Kendra Duggar'. It's either 'Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Duggar' or 'Joseph and Kendra Duggar'.
Delete7:59: Funny... I've been married for almost thirty years and I can't remember ever being addressed as Mrs. using just my husband's name. It's always been both our first names plus last name. As far as "etiqutte"- those arbitrary traditional rules were made up by people long ago. If you want to follow them, fine. But don't take offense if others do not.
DeleteWhen "those arbitrary traditional rules" started flying out the window, so did courtesy and respect. Nothing wrong with man-made rules to help people all get along. These days everyone just does whatever they want because they think everyone owes them something. There are no rules, no proper respect, and every one takes offense because they're sure that everyone else is trying to put them down. Why not take a page from parents and grandparents, and treat people with respect, and realize that there was a purpose to "those arbitrary traditional rules.
DeleteUgh..feminists all up in here!
DeleteIf you are justifying the Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Duggar because the Bible calls a. Arrived couple "one flesh," then Kendra shouldn't have a name at all. She should just be called Mrs. Joseph Duggar. Or perhaps Joe could be Mr. Kendra Caldwell.
Delete9:30 AM -- Wow, interesting that no one around you has used traditional etiquette. Where do you live?
Delete@ 9:38 I love the Mr. Kendra Caldwell part.
Delete@ 5:22 You have a problem with feminists?! You should be thanking them! Without feminists, the world would be a much sorrier place than it already is. If it wasn't for feminists, there are a lot of things you would not have, including your right to vote, sexual harassment protection in the workplace, maternity leave laws, and contraceptives. Many people including myself, think of women as actual people, not just baby machines and their husbands' "helpmeets."
DeleteSunny side Up : How is calling a woman by her husband's name (Mrs. John Smith) showing respect for her? She has a first name, so it should be used- at least that is what I prefer. There were many male- instagated traditional ways of doing things that I'm very glad are a thing of the past- For instance, a woman not being able to vote or own property. I had to wear dresses in my public school back in the 60's, I was ecstatic when the rules were changed and girls could wear jeans. The old ways are not necessarily the best ways.
DeleteI would not call myself a feminist, at least by modern day standards, however, I believe that taking on your husbands last name is enough, without people calling you by his first name too. That's just my 17 year old opinion, no one has to agree with it.
DeleteFeminism has nothing to do with it. It is based on the legal code that goes back to the 1600s here.
DeleteThere is a difference between a title and a name. Mrs. Joseph Duggar is a title. It is not her name.
Here, women do not take their husband"s last name, unless with a great deal of effort. Kendra would be known as Ms. Kendra Caldwell, even after she married. After a certain age, every woman is called Madame, irregardless of marital status. All legal documents, including the record of the births of any children, her death, will, loans.., she would be listed as Kendra Caldwell.
However, socially, she would be Mrs. Joseph Duggar or Mrs. Duggar. She would not be called Kendra Duggar since that is not considered her name.
Those who use the bible to justify a woman loosing her name are reading too much into it.
By the way, etiquette is relative.
I don't care what you call me. I have the rings. I have the joint accounts. I have at least half his 401K. I'm going to claim half his Social Security. You can call me any name you want in return!
Delete@ 4:19, Why doesn't it show respect for her? It doesn't show disrespect... unless she's ashamed of him. All I said was that there is nothing wrong with it, just like there is nothing wrong with having certain standards. I personally don't see anything wrong with dress codes in schools. Like I said before, once we change or throw rhithese things away, it starts to go downhill fast. When yo were in school they began letting girls wear jeans, fine and good, but now they have to worry about and disclipine students because they think it's okay to go to school in short-shorts or with their midriff and/or bra straps showing. Once you start to throw away ediquitte, and standards, things go south fast! And before anyone starts accusing, I believe in a woman's right to vote ,go to college, etc! Lol.
DeleteGood point😊
ReplyDeleteI really wonder about Sam and his arrival. Something is not right with him. We have seen lots of pictures of Jessa’s kids and quite a few of Izzy but maybe 6 total of Samuel and he is 3 months old.
ReplyDeleteDerick is off in a world of his own that doesn't include TLC or showing baby pictures, like before.
DeleteThat's a good point. Maybe they will share that eventually, but when they're ready. Jill's birth was definitely different than the other girl's
DeleteGood for them for keeping their lives a little more private!
DeleteI actually do not mind. At first the back track episodes were annoying but now I like how they handled the latest wedding with Jo and Kendra. They gave us a sneak peak on the app. Now we get to see the entire wedding on air. I have a feeling TLC has figured out a better formula.
ReplyDeleteI also agree that the older children have interesting lives outside of weddings, courtiships and babies. I think it is time to branch out from this model a bit especially since courtships are dying down. There is only but so much "raising two children struggles" we can see before it all becomes redundant. I hope there are fresh ideas to come. I would hate to see the show end prematurely.
I would really love to know more about what the unmarried, non-courting adult children are doing with themselves. I love the wedding and baby stuff, but I'd like to see the others featured too.
DeleteEvery time JESSA is "talking about caring for two babies
DeleteI think. what is she gonna say....when she's caring for four little ones ❗️ 👶🏻👶🏻👶🏻👶🏻
she doesn't have helpers like her mother did ...
Her mother didn't have helpers when she had her first kids either. She probably had 8 kids before the oldest ones were really old enough to be of a lot of help to her.
DeleteI will watch the wedding as many times as they show it I love the Duggars wish they were all on like before
ReplyDeleteI'm with you! I remember when they weren't on and I sure missed them! I'm so grateful I can get my Duggar fix I'll take anything I can get.
DeleteMe too! Love the Duggar family!
DeleteI think a significant number of viewers/fans have expressed a desire to hear and see what Jana does with her days, as John David and the other "older" guys. Basing the show around weddings and babies is a limited run, audience limiting thing. Given the Duggar lifestyle choices, the kids will grow up, marry, have babies...rinse, repeat. People who've been long-time Duggar followers want to know about the older Duggars, not just the girls.
DeleteI sure miss seeing Michelle. She is such a funny, dynamic and encouraging person. I loved the few seconds they showed of her last night helping Joy learn to drive. I wish I could be mentored by her. She is so patient and full of joy, how does she not let stress get to her?
ReplyDeleteI love the Duggars and always enjoy their shows. There is so much negativity on television and their shows are uplifting and I am thankful for every episode!
ReplyDeleteI, too would prefer to see the shows air chronologically. Please no more backtracking. We barely know the couple when the wedding airs the first time and we don't really want to see it again when it airs the second time.
ReplyDelete8:01 Agreed.
DeleteI agree too. The only wedding I might want to see out of order would be Jana's, I'd like to see her's live!
DeleteSo Exciting! !!!♡♡♡♡♡♡
ReplyDeleteI don't think most posters are asking for Sam's birth to be on TV already but why haven't they commented outside of the show about what wend down with that? Obviously, something happened and they're not saying. Just not what this family does.
ReplyDeleteWell, in this instance, apparently they do!
DeleteI don't blame Jill for not showing Sam much. It seems so many times both she and Jessa have been attacked for how they parent. I wish there weren't so many people to criticize the Duggars. I think they're a wonderful family and I've been a fan of theirs since the early days of "19 Kids." It's been a lot of fun watching these kids grow up and now having families of their own.
ReplyDeleteMaybe jill and Derek aren't being so quiet about the birth ,
ReplyDeleteAs much as wanting to be out of the public eye with their family say...💙
I've also wondered if she had emergency hysterectomy.....
Can't imagine her having a tubal...
