Jeremy Vuolo and Jinger (Duggar) Vuolo
Thirsty Ground is operated by volunteers, which means that 100% of donations go directly towards relief efforts. Jeremy took a disaster relief mission trip to the Philippines with Thirsty Ground a few years ago.
Jinger and Jeremy were also able to house some folks fleeing the storm.

DeleteAnon @ 12:09. I think it is important to clarify because the headline says Vuolos help Harvey victims which implies that they themselves helped. In reality it was a 'team from the congregation'who helped not solely the Vuolos. Jeremy might be the pastor and co-ordinate things but he can't take all the credit, especially as others did all the actual physical hard work, not the same thing at all.

I know they are helping in some way and they shouldn't be criticized because maybe they are not helping with the physical labor. And,no it is not just the Vuolos ,I know that, but Jeremy is the Pastor he had a role to play in it.

Thank you for sharing with us as about an organization we can give to and have faith that they will use all the monies for those that have need right now. God is in control and He will be a Rock and a Fortress to those who cry out to Him in faith through Jesus Christ our Lord!

The Duggars with all their Alert promotion and a number of their boys attending training have not helped in any practical way, makes you wonder what exactly was the point of the training if it never gets put to use?

DeleteThis is what churches should be doing... saving lives and helping to provide for those in need, not trying to convert those of different beliefs. I know there are those that claim... "The Bible says we should spread the Gospel!" I would respond by saying that I do not believe anyone is called today to try and win souls for Christ. How very conceited and vain it is for anyone to think they're right and everyone else is completely wrong!

DeleteChristians are not conceited or vain in their desire to lead others to know Christ. We love as Christ loves. We desire to see others in heaven glorifying the Father for all eternity and not in agony in hell separated from the Father for all eternity.
Also, Acts 1:8 says "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
We are called to share the gospel throughout the whole world!
We are to make disciples of all the nations.
Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus says "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Truth is not relative. Also, consider how a teacher tells a student he answered a question wrong. Just because the teacher corrects the student and says "That's the wrong answer, but this is the right one " doesn't mean the teacher is being conceited; she just knows what is the truth.
DeleteIt makes me chuckle to imagine how God feels about you calling Him very conceited and vain. He clearly tells us in John 14:6 "I am the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE: no man cometh unto the father but by me." The Bible is sufficient for showing us who God is and what His expectation of me, you and His church is.
DeleteIt would be so refreshing if folks would try to find their fault with and pick at the belief and not the believer.
I don't believe "I" am right and everyone else is wrong. I believe the truths God has given us via his Word. It is not mans agenda to spread the Gospel. It is God's agenda, "who wants all people to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth." (1 Tim 2:4).

Yes, the Bible does say that Christians are supposed to share the Gospel. Anyone who has been saved from an eternity in hell should be urgently telling others how they, too, can be saved. There will come a day when it is too late to share this message. The Gospel is not about "I'm right and you're wrong". It's about "I'm a sinner whose sins are forgiven. You're also a sinner, and I can tell you how to be forgiven."
DeleteFirst let me say I don’t agree with the Duggars as far as religious beliefs are concerned. However, it’s kind of funny of you to say that it’s “vain and conceited” for them to believe that they’re right and everybody else is wrong. If you’re choosing to walk out of a burning building through a door, and everybody else is trying to cram out a closed window, if you tell them how to walk out the door, is that “vain and conceited?” If the Duggars (or anybody else) says that their beliefs are the only way and they TRULY believe that, even though they might be mistaken, it doesn’t mean they’re haters, or vain and conceited. They *might* genuinely be trying to help people. Also, isn’t saying “I would respond by saying that I do not believe anyone is called today to try and win souls for Christ.” and directly contradicting the Bible, which is proven to be true, more of a problem then trying to share your beliefs (like the Duggars)? Society today seems to be all about “acceptance,” until it comes to accepting Christianity.

DeleteAnon1201. The Church is doing tremendous work in helping the victim's of this hurricane disaster. But that's not fair of you to tell the Church that they should be helping victims of the hurricane and in the next sentence say they should not try and wins souls to Christ because that is conceited and vain to think we are right and others are wrong. If a Christian doesn't believe that there is one way to the Father and that is through His Son Jesus Christ then they are not a Christian in the first place. We know Christianity is the way. We witness and spread the Gospel because we love you and others and want to see everyone that we meet in this life, live in Glory with us in the next life. That's how we come to know Christ, someone loved and cared about us to tell us the Good News.

ReplyDeleteJeremy probably needed to stay at his church, and there was a very high need for people to host families that had to flee.
Delete"Helping" comes in many forms. If everyone flees to the hurricane sight to help, Them who's on the other side helping those that got out. Help comes in many forms. Prayers, money, housing, food, water.

I'm so happy for Jinger to have her new life with Jeremy. They have so many opportunities to share.
I'm also glad they are not in a race to start a family...all in good time.

ReplyDeleteWe don't know their personas finances. I can't believe someone would judge other people by saying they only donated $500 as if that is negative. Donations are freely given. No one has to donate. $500 is a lot of money. People can say the Duggars are rich, but they don't know their personal finances. How much money does it take to run a house with that many children? How much money do they give to their church? How much do they give to people they personally know? How much do they give to missionaries and those in foreign countries? We don't know the answers to any of those questions. The fact that they willingly gave money to help those in need is a blessing. How much they gave is their business!
DeleteI'm sorry, but why should it bother you how much someone donated. We don't ask how much you donated and then criticize the amount. God will not ask you about the deeds of other's, only your own and what you did to help. The most important point of giving is giving from the heart without announcing it for everyone to know. That is what's truly admirable in God's eyes. I'm sorry if I sounded too harsh.
