Cooking Class and a Mishap

"I'm not the most helpful in the kitchen. I try to, but I don't know how helpful I am."
-Jeremy Vuolo

Jinger and Jeremy Vuolo are living up life as newlyweds. On tonight's new episode, Counting On "Let Them Eat Cake," the Vuolos take a cooking class and learn how to make traditional chorizo with ground beef, shroomizo (a vegetarian version), and chili.

Meanwhile, the Forsyths discuss whether they would take a couples cooking class. Austin might be wishing he had had a different response. Check out the sneak peek video below.

  1. Great video, thanks for sharing! I couldn't really hear Joy, did she say, "but you didn't even eat the lunch I packed you."?

    1. Sure sounded like that's what she said! That was a funny moment - poor Austin got himself stuck.

    2. She said, "you didn't even eat my lunch today" There could be many reasons for that such as; Austin had a big breakfast and wasn't hungry, Austin had to get down to the house they're working on quickly, and didn't have time to sit and eat lunch, maybe Joy sneezed on the food by accident, there are many many reasons, don't worry about it.

    3. That was too funny! I like how Joy and Austin are with each other, you can tell they've been friends for a long time! Be easy 8:56, I'm not worried about it, I just couldn't hear her clearly. There are a plethora of reasons he didn't eat I know, my husband has a job where he isn't always able to eat my meals too yet he loves my cooking as well. I just couldn't hear her in the video because she was talking pretty low.

  2. Jinger and Jeremy are by far my favorite couple out of the Duggar family. They seem so happy and relaxed around each other.

    1. It could be that they are taking time to have fun together before having babies right away? I'm just throwing that out there. I wonder if the other girls felt pressured to have kids so soon after. I love kids, don't get me wrong. It is hard work raising a child or more so while you are married with no kids, that is the time to have fun with your spouse.

    2. I agree too. They're perfect for each other.

  3. wow. we don't all get to have cooking classes. some of us just have to figure it our ourselves with the help of cookbooks and you tube.

    1. Well, anyone can "get to" have a cooking class if they sign up! There are lots of free ones, ones at community colleges, cooking stores, restaurants and community events. It doesn't have to be expensive and at a cooking school. Are you just irritated that they're having fun with their life and getting out and doing something?

    2. You sound a little bitter, or envious maybe. Don't get down about the opportunities they have. If taking a cooking class was really important to you, then you would make it happen. I learned how to cook because I really wanted to learn. So, I studied it, watched food network, and bought cookbooks. Taking a class on It isn't my thing. Anyway, chances are this was a date night for them and they wanted to do something different. Definitely nothing wrong with it.

    3. I agree, there are lots of free cooking and very low cost classes available in the community. I'm glad they had the opportunity to take a cooking class together.

    4. This cooking class experience was likely engineered by TLC, in order to have something to film.

    5. Where do you find these free and low-cost cooking classes? Every one I've seen around here is in the $50 to $100 range, per person.

    6. I agree. I have never come across a free cooking class. And that’s okay, I’m just curious where I can find free classes?

    7. 10:04, like 4::18 mentioned you can find them at community colleges, cooking stores, community events, etc. Usually they are one day events. You just have to shop around and be aware that seating is sometimes limited. And there are always friends who are more than willing to teach a cooking class to their friends.

    8. There are two kitchen stores in my area. One has classes for a set $55 price, and the other has classes ranging from $69 to $89 (I just checked). The community college only has classes for enrolled students, as part of the curriculum. $270 per credit hour, and a semester is 18 credit hours. You do the math. I've never seen a cooking class as part of a community event. With all the money to be made with cooking classes, I'm not surprised that there are no free or cheap ones in my area.

    9. Our local community college has non-credit courses categorized as 'Community Education' or 'Personal Enrichment' in the 'Continuing Education' section. There are 10 cooking classes offered this fall, ranging from 'Knife Skills', 'Bread Baking 101', to 'Oktoberfest Meals' and 'Gifts to Make for Foodies'. All are $25-35 per person for a half-day class.

  5. If you can read, you can cook. There's really no excuse for a guy, or anyone for that manner, to rely on someone else to prepare meals all the time.

    1. I agree with the second sentence, not the first Lol I know lots of people who can read, and are TERRIBLE cooks. Some people try, but can't manage much more than toast. I think everyone should at least TRY to learn to cook, and if you can't, that's fine, but you should probably master some basics. If you're married, and your spouse works, but you are a stay-at-home husband or wife, you'll probably be the one doing the most cooking. If both of you work, you probably both help out with meals, that's just how things normally work.

    2. 2:51 PM -- I agree. If you can read and have basic common sense, you can cook many things.

  6. Jeremy enjoys being the center of attention for sure! But that's OK. He and Jinger are the only couple I tune in to watch. I loved that Jinger said Jeremy could put a meal together for her!! Pants, shoulders showing, no babies and having Jeremy cook for her. Go Jinger!!

  7. I think I want Jinger to come cook at our house. But I admit my best meal according to my husband is curry chicken. Poor Joy, I'm sure she's a better cook than she thinks.

    2. Curry chicken sounds wonderful! I love Indian or Thai curry but it seems to be the only meal I'm not very good at making. Maybe I just haven't found the right recipe! Any tips?

    3. That Dish was called Curry in a hurry at our home. Use chicken or left over Turkey.

      Can of coconut milk
Can of cream of chicken soup or corn starch to thicken coconut milk and half can of whole milk or cream.
      1/4 cup chopped onion
      1/4 cup chopped celery optional
      Tablespoon yellow Curry powder

Soften onion and celery in two tablespoons of butter

Add two chicken breast sliced or equivalent approximately two cups

Brown lightly low heat in deep pan or larger pot.

In large measure cup mix Curry with coconut milk and soup.

If you choose to reduce salt add teaspoon of corn starch and don't use can soup.
Use empty can from coconut milk and fill half way with whole milk or light cream.

Poor over chicken mixture and turn up heat to reduce and begin boiling.
Reduce heat to simmer and cover for 5 minutes. Turn off and rest.

Taste adding additional salt or Curry and serve over rice.

      Serves 4

You can add another can of coconut milk and double chicken for 7/8

      Enjoy!

    5. OR buy a jar of Trader Joe's Green Curry sauce, mix with a can of Trader Joe's coconut milk, pour over chicken and bake or simmer.

  9. Can't see the video - black box. But tell me that Jeremy behaves himself in the kitchen this time and doesn't paw Jinger the whole time, the way he did on their honeymoon.

    1. First of all, Jeremy was very well behaved. Secondly, they were on their honeymoon, have you ever been on one? Because from my experience husbands like to be pretty hands on at that time, especially if they haven't even been able to have to even hug without people raising eyebrows. Just saying.

    2. Jeremy's behavior was awful that time. Being on a honeymoon doesn't give you an excuse to be rude.

    3. We've been on a honeymoon ans we weren't all "handsy" because we had respect for ourselves, each other, each other's bodies, and those around us. Our private life was special enough to us to be in private, not on public display. We were also mature enough to realize that as a married couple we have the rest of our lives for and with each other. While we regularly hold hands, hug, and briefly kiss in public, we've never felt the need to "express ourselves" publicly (as Joy did suggestively sitting on Austin) or being "handsy". Respect and maturity don't take what's ordained and make it profane by putting on a show.

    4. @3.34pm. Can't stand the PDA neither. And for people who say that they were on honeymoon, there are plenty of hasidic jewish newlyweds where I live and they are not pawing each other. Their marriages tend to last longer than christians too and yes they have options to leave.

Other than that, I am assuming that now they have settled into married life, because there was hardly any PDA.

  10. Jeremy and jinger are my favorite counting on couple.they are so young and good looking.they are enjoying their married life together and doing different things and getting to know each other before they start their family, smart !!!😊

  11. Jinger and Jeremy are my favorites too. Some people believe you should have 2 years together before having kids. Then again, not everyone has kids. They will never be lacking for family and friends, even if they just spend their lives together.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I'm sure they'll have kids someday, I just don't think they're in any rush Lol That being said, while I do think you should wait about 6 months to 2 years, if someone choses not to, I don't think people should be so critical about their choice as a lot of people on this blog have been. It doesn't make a difference in your life, so why complain about it?

    2. If I remember correctly, Jim Bob and Michelle were married for four years before they started their family. Then again they had a 'normal' relationship with kissing and cuddles before they were married. Only after they had children they brought in all the regulations they now impose on their children.

    2. Are you saying Jeremy is conceited? Don't make statements that are not true.

      Delete
    3. I agree Anon @ 4:51pm. Maybe it's just me but he seems a tad bit conceited and I've noticed Jinger changing as well. Sometimes the facial expressions these two have towards the other Duggar family members is too much for me. Body language says a lot. He's changed Jinger a lot, maybe some for the better, but she just doesn't seem as down to earth and relatable anymore. Let's face it, Jinger married up. Jeremy does not come from a family like the Duggars and I'm certain, by facial expressions, that he's not going to get saddled down with a slew of kiddos. I noticed in the last episode that Jeremy likes being Jingers center of attention, and he lives to "call attention" to himself in public arenas.

      Delete
    4. It's becoming more obvious all the time that Jeremy clearly does not hold to the "typically conservative Duggar beliefs". It must be a big adjustment for Jinger but it looks she is loving her new life with Jeremy. Jeremy seems like a fun-loving guy and has a sense of humour which is seldom seen on the Duggars show.

    5. I'm sorry. but how can you see inside someone's head? There is nothing wrong with them. People just digging for issues that do not exist.

    6. Every time I think Jeremy might be like other guys, he goes and preaches a sermon with something in it that makes me cringe. That kind of thinking does not appeal to me, no matter how nice a person may act otherwise.

  14. Muy Rico doesn't translate to Very Rich!
    It means very good.
Well it literally means very rich but this is not what she was saying! She was talking about the food being very good.

  15. I'm so sad Jeremy and Jinger didn't decide to start a family right away. They're missing out on such meaning and depth of love. The dimension, the joy, the learning and wisdom that children bring to a family is truly incredible.
Time alone tends to make people more self centered and narrow minded. So why postpone having kids??? - Okay, I'm kidding. I'm just super tired of hearing the praise and/or criticism the Duggar kids receive depending on their family planing choices. Seriously, it's none of our business. And people don't need to make the same choices you or I would in order for them to be good choices. Different strokes for different folks!

    1. I too get annoyed with all the applauding about Jinger and Jeremy waiting to have kids. I am not saying that they should start having kids right now, I just get annoyed at the concept that waiting to have kids is the only right , smart way, and if you have kids right away your doing something wrong.

      Delete
    2. I've been saying that for awhile, I was reading the satirical part of your comment and thinking "are you serious?", then I saw you were joking. People should see how absurd they sound when saying Jill, Jessa, and Joy should have waited for kids but for real, whose business is it other than the couples? No ones, thats who. Let everyone set their own family making pace!
