Jill and Derick Dillard have released a new photo of Samuel Scott Dillard! Born on July 8th via C-section, Samuel is now two weeks and three days old. Isn't he a cutie?

This photo was taken when baby was a few days old he is now two and half weeks and no new photographs of him, no photographs with Israel and only one of Jill with her new son and she looked ill and sad. They do not owe anyone a detailed account of what happened but a factual brief statement would put speculation to rest and fans would have peace of mind.
DeleteThey always make a big deal about the births, even showing them on TV. Not to expect that again is not reasonable.
DeleteWe do know that they are well. A statement was made saying they were. I do not think Jill looked anything but a woman who has just given birth. I have seen that same look of love, tiredness and overwhelming emotion on the face of my daughter. This photo is of Samuel now. No, they do not owe fans or anyone else a factual statement regarding anything. We have been given the facts already: 40 hours of labour, a caesarean delivery, the size and weight of the baby plus the gender and his name and a newborn photo. The problem is not Jill and Derrick, it is certain individuals who are pressing for more private information that is none of our business. Jill and Derrick have been mercilessly criticised for the last 2 years. Everything from the way Israel was born; home labour to caesarean; to assuming they are taking money from their mission, People magazine, and from TLC. Yet when they choose a different action with this birth, it is still not good enough. People just want to judge and criticise and look for something, anything, to pick at. I support Jill and Derrick and whatever they choose for their family and their lives. There are some very malicious, sad, unhappy posters who seem to think it is fun to run real live human beings into the ground any way they can. Of course not saying you are doing that with much respect. Eileen

DeleteAt the very least she is not well from the C-section and feeling awful, not to mention probably emotionally upset because she wanted to have a VBAC. Now she knows she can't have a very big family. Or she had to have a hysterectomy, or something is wrong with the baby..but in the pic he looks ok. Hopefully both of them will be ok. It's very strange for them to be so quiet, they usually are all about being filmed and putting out pictures of the new baby, etc.

ReplyDeleteIt's inconsiderate of the Dillards to not state what happened. We understand, ladies, that it's not your choice to withhold information or not. Having said that, the Dillard need to remember who pays their salaries....the VIEWERS and posters here. We are genuinely worried about Jill and Samuel whether we agree with their lifestyle or not. NO ONE wishes anything bad for them. We'd like to know what the facts are so terrible speculation will not be going around...just fact.
Remember who pays their salaries? How horrible!!! No one owes someone their personal information regardless. Their personal business is between them and God. True fans can pray for her regardless of knowing what's going on. Someone truly concerned and worried would never believe they're owed anything by any of the Duggars. Speculation going around or not we're all able to send love and prayers their way.

ReplyDeleteHe is adorable. Glad to see he looks healthy. It's so unusual for the Dillards/Duggars to be so quiet after the birth of a child, 2 weeks is a long time. Hope that Jill is not having health problems. A lot of people assume something went wrong with her or the baby, and with good reason as their family has been so unusually mum the last 2 weeks. Samuel is a super cute baby.

ReplyDeleteIt is just idle speculation but I had the same thought. To a woman who wanted a large family that would be devastating news. There are a million things people could speculate on but I think something pretty emotionally intense is going on and everyone should respect their privacy.

The baby was not that big for people to jump to the conclusion that she had a hysterectomy. Mine were bigger and I am smaller than Jill. And 40 hrs is actually not that long. We do not know if the C-section was actually an emergency. She might have tried and then decided to go for the C-section but that it was an emergency situation.

4:22 PM There are reasons other than the baby's size that can cause you to need a hysterectomy. My baby sister was only 5lbs 7oz, and my mom almost had to have one after her csection.

ReplyDeleteLittle Samuel is such a cutie! I have to trust that if something were wrong, they would let us fans know. From the beginning of their time on TV the Duggars have been as open as possible with fans allowing us to celebrate their highs with them and pray for them at their low points. While we wait for more pictures & info, I will continue to pray that everyone is healthy and happy.

The ONLY cable company in Australia has now cancelled the show since you only did re-runs last year and too many fans were fed up with watching them. You're pushing your fans and pay cheques away by not announcing, posting news, OR repeating 9 month old stuff.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the wait? Either his birth went well for a C-section and there are no issues, or it didn't. They should state either way. Jill is not the first woman to have had a complication or two and she won't be the last. Many women handle issues and changes in their plans well. Jill should know to trust God that He's always been in charge of her life road. Isn't tha what they believe? So, what's the matter there?

If Jill and family would like to bond with their new baby out of the public eye than that should be respected. They do not owe the public anything.

They are not actors playing a part in a drama (or at least that is what the fans are to believe). To withhold information regarding her birth experience from their fans is suspect. I truly hope that nothing serious happened to Jill during this birth, but if so a simple statement to the effect that she had a rough delivery, and is taking some time to heal I believe that their fans would be satisfied.

At first I saw more Duuggar in Israel than Dillard. Now I am seeing the Dillard side, Derick's mom a bit more in Israel.

When Israel, Spurgeon and Henry were born, there were pictures of the whole family holding them. No picture of Israel holding his brother? No pictures of Jill holding Samuel? No pics of the grandparents holding him? Only pictures of him with someone else are with Derick. Sure hope all is well. Have to believe so since JimBob and Michelle talked about getting closer to 200 grandkids.

DeleteIf indeed she did, it would be devastating, particularly and especially since that is what the Duggars are all about - having huge families. She has prepared herself somewhat to be a midwife. But her children were expected to be her entire life's focus. I am sure she was not expecting to stop at two.

DeleteWell she can't be that well as we have hardly seen photos of her and that is very telling. when it comes to babies, the Duggars are constantly sending images- not this time though...Her mother's place is by her side in such times and not with hubby on holiday.
DeleteJB & M have a history of leaving their children with other sibling's in charge of them. . . this is so out of the norm it is no wonder we are concerned (we have become to care about them deeply) - something is wrong for sure. We heard almost daily updates about Josie. Now NOTHING. Not fair to "fans". Privacy, yes - they deserver it, but a simple picture of Jill with Israel and Samuel would be so assuring.

ReplyDeleteThey thought she had an irregularity in her aorta, I think, but then she was given a clean bill of health. However, maybe that was incorrect and she had a cardic event during labor. Whatever happened, she is not just recovering from a long labor and C section.
DeleteI agree, poor Jill is clearly unwell and imagine the disappointment if doctors decide having more babies could endanger her life. The pressure from her parents to have many children is so strong,I really pity Jill.
DeleteOf course more children could endanger her life, if she were a Duggar or not, if the same birth events had happened. But she sure doesn't need expectations of a big family or to be told to "leave it up to God" if she just had two close calls.
DeleteJill & Derick have never been ones to stay private. Every detail of their mission trips was blogged (spiders, wild cats, scary noises, gang-related violence, etc.). They are depending on the public to donate to them since Derick is not working and hasn't been for months. Yet suddenly they find it necessary to be absent from the public spotlight? With a new baby to show? Something is not adding up.......

You exaggerate when you say that every detail of their trips has been blogged. I'm sure when they're ready they will let us know how they're doing.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I had to have a hysterectomy after the birth of my second child. It was difficult but we are so thankful for the children God has blessed us with and look forward to adopting in the future. I don't know if she had to have one or not but God is good in every situation and he gives beauty for ashes.

ReplyDeleteMaybe they are waiting for the new season to air to explain. It seems if they share photos and updates you belly ache they are over exposing themselves. If they choose not to, you belly ache you have the "right to know" why or what they are hiding. You can't have it both ways. Just be happy you don't have to wait without real time updates for a new season like regular tv shows. I feel bad for this family that people say all these things. Assuming something is wrong or whatever.
