Derick Dillard and Samuel Dillard
Since we shared the
first photo of Samuel Scott Dillard, we know you all have been eager to see more. TLC just shared several snapshots, including the first picture of Jill Dillard with her son and a photo of Samuel's newborn grin.

Samuel is adorable and looks a little like his big brother Israel. Praying Jill and Samuel are home now from the hospital and both doing well. K
ReplyDeleteAwesome baby boy! Derick and Jill should move to Texas because Paul Bunyon already has Alaskas!
ReplyDeleteSamuel looks just like Israel. Beautiful baby. Congratulations Jill ,Derrick and izzy. Oh Jill I believe your not well..please all the Duggars take care of her...I love the Duggar family. Praying
ReplyDeleteXoxo....he looks just like big brother! Congrats and Gods Grace!
ReplyDeleteHe looks just like his Brother!!! Cutie
ReplyDeleteLooks just like Israel. How cute
ReplyDeleteHe looks like Spurgeon, in this pic.
ReplyDeleteI looked over at the album and my goodness! Little Samuel is so happy! One photo looks like he's saying everything is A okay!👌
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for showing us these pictures of Samuel and mommy & daddy.
ReplyDeleteHe looks like big brother Israel.
God bless your precious little family.
Mend Jill - you have a wonderful husband, we know he will help as much as he can during your recovery.
He is a beautiful healthy looking boy!
ReplyDeleteIn the first paragraph it says "click here to view album"There are 10 new pics of the baby and Jill and Derick
ReplyDeleteUh, both say Israel?
ReplyDeleteSamuel looks a little splotchy, like he might have had jaundice?
ReplyDeleteJill just looks pale and wiped out!
Samuel makes me wonder if he has a problem regulating his temp due to the 2 long sleeve shirts on him.
DeleteI noticed the layering also- I hope he's doing alright. That outer layer terry is dense and thick to be an outer layer, in a hospital room, in July, in Arkansas. Being that there's a second layer underneath and his cap, leads me to wonder if he's in a warmer unit in the nursery and was wrapped well for the trip to Jill's room for this family photo session. Yes, I know I'm a worrier and working on it. ;) I just hope this sweet little guy and his mommy are doing alright. My heart goes out to both of them.
DeleteI see some similarities between both babies but I think Little Sam looks a little larger.
ReplyDeleteCute baby, he has hands like shovels as we would say here in Ireland. Poor Jill looks very frail, she has been through a traumatic time, hope she gets plenty of help from Derick when she gets home, she is going to need plenty of time to recover.
ReplyDeleteWonder when those pictures were taken?
ReplyDeleteIn the picture of Derick holding the baby over his shoulder, there's a monitor cord of some sort visible in the lower part of the picture. But it's hard to tell if it's connected to the baby or if Jill is just to the side of that picture, and it's her cord.
It's a heart monitor cord that the baby is connected to. The thin white and red and black wires are his electrodes, that are on his chest. It looks like he still may have a pulse oximeter to measure his oxygen levels in his blood. Many prayers being said for this family.
DeleteIm wondering if he had to be resuscitated upon birth.
DeleteI think he looks very much like Izzy!
ReplyDeleteI can see the resemblance between them, but I don't think they look just alike. Excited to see him on the next season of Counting On!!
ReplyDeleteMom looks distraught in the picture.
ReplyDeleteHow's Jill doing. Poor girl really went through it.
ReplyDeleteProud dad there... Looks good you two..
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweetheart. Looks just like Israel. 😊💕
ReplyDeleteWow!He looks more like Derick than Israel. Jill looks older and more mature in her motherhood.
ReplyDeleteHe looks exactly like his brother
ReplyDeleteJill doesn't look well.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, how darling is that little Sammy!! I love, love, love the pics of him and Derrick. He looks so happy to be in his arms. Especially the one when he is burping him, he looks like the happiest, smiling newborn I have ever seen! And then the one where he is looking at Derrick, again he looks so, so happy. Just the sweetest. Thank you for sharing. Great job Derrick. I really think this little guy already looks up to you.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I hope Jill is recovering well.
I am so glad Samuel and Jill are great, gave us a scare to see him hooked up like he was :)
ReplyDeletehe looks just like his big brother
ReplyDeleteSome of the pictures would make a great header photo for Samuel
ReplyDeleteVery cute baby he does look a lot like Israel
ReplyDeleteNice to see some baby pics! I think he looks a little like Israel, and in one he looked like his dad. It will be interesting to compare as he gets older.
ReplyDeleteAww,so precious! Congratulations to Jill & Derick! Glad Mom and baby are doing well!!
ReplyDeleteThis little guy definitely looks more like Derrick. Israel has a Duggar face.
ReplyDeleteIsrael is the spitting image of Derick when he was little, saw some photographs of him a while back. They are both Dillards no doubt about it.
DeleteWow! Amazing how much Israel and Samuel look alike.
ReplyDeleteSuch a blessing. Congrats Dillards!
oh my heart he is GORGEOUS!!!!! praying for this precious family - - especially that dear new momma!!!
ReplyDeleteAre these photos of Israel or Samuel? You have them identified as both.
ReplyDeleteSamuel is a cutie!Derrick looks so much better with his hair cut!
ReplyDeleteHe is adorable!! I just wish Jim Bob and Michelle weren't so focused on the number of grandchildren they may have. He said, 8 going on 200. They are not a statistic and more than just a number. They should not be referred to as such. They are individuals, precious human beings that need individual attention. Not just known as, I am number....from the Duggar clan.
ReplyDeleteTrue!
DeleteRest assured, the Duggars know how precious each and every one of the gifts from above are. None of them are simply a number.
DeleteLighten up; you are taking it WAAAY out of context. It was a casual comment, referring to the fact that other people often comment on the fact that they could end up with 200 grandchildren. It does not indicate that that they are 'so focused' on the number. They certainly do not need to be told by a stranger that their children and grandchildren are precious. I wish every person was as cherished as each of these.
DeleteOh, you could tell they were joking about the 8 going on 200. I'm sure they love and appreciate each grandchild as an individual.
DeleteI don't like the way this blog perpetrates the numbering of the children and grandchildren. Every birthday, it's "number so and so's" day. They have names!
DeleteHe's definitely got duggar in him! He is so adorable. I'm gonna get confused with Israel and his baby pictures now!
ReplyDeleteLinks won't work right
ReplyDeleteYes Sam looks like Isreal.
ReplyDeleteIs Jill okay she looks sick .MAY GOD BLESS
ReplyDeleteSo adorable!!!! Thanks so much for posting the pictures, I've been looking forward to them! He does look like Israel, but also has his own "look" I think. Praise our Father for this precious new gift!
ReplyDeleteYes, Praise Jesus!
DeleteOh how precious!!! I do see resemblance to Izzy :)
ReplyDeleteAwh!!! He is so beautiful ! He looks just like Israel!! Congratulations!!!
ReplyDeleteSamuel is adorable!!! So sweet and cute! I hope Jill recovers quickly and easily.
ReplyDeleteI swear Jessa + Jill's boys all look just like baby Jim Bobs. Grandpa's genes are kicking in big time. Blessings to Jill and family. Very inspirational
ReplyDeleteTotally agree!
DeletePraying for Jill and Samuel here. Scheduled C-Sections aren't exactly fun and emergency-type ones are even less. She's been 5 oz. shy of fetal macrosomia twice now and I'm thankful to God she didn't suffer uterine rupture, having had a previous C-Section with Israel. It's my hope and prayer that Jill will get better prenatal care, advice, counsel than she has been receiving and that she will labor "smarter" should she become pregnant again (no slam intended). Her children need their mother and her husband surely wants to keep his wife. As my Ob-Gyn said: "Mom, you have to put on your own oxygen mask first before you take of everyone else. Otherwise, you'll die while you're trying to get their's on and you'll all die.". Truth.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new addition! Glad mom&baby are doing well . Don't you wish you could keep then little forever? My oldest is going to be a senior next month. Where does time go? God bless yall!
ReplyDeleteonly could see two photos of cutie Israel but seen Samuel in other photos and he is a big boy and a cutie. God Bless this growing family!!
ReplyDeleteHe looks just like his brother, adorable.
ReplyDeleteJill looks weak and unwell. Hope she is okay.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Actually, did not recognize her at first.
DeleteI thought the same thing.
DeleteTo me, it looks like she is adoringly looking at her new son and taking him all in.
DeleteJust lack of People Mag/TLC hair and make-up.
DeleteShe just gave birth!!!!! I would love to see photos of half the woman on this blog right after they gave birth. 99.9% would look tired!!!
DeleteNo, the picture of Jill wasn't right after birth. It was at the very barest minimum a good 2 hours after the C-Section (and I doubt then). These pictures were taken over a series of days, as Derick's differing shirts show. Jill does look pretty frail even a few days later- bless her! Adding my hope that she's recovering well here.
DeleteMy fifth child is two weeks old, and I still look tired, and our delivery went well. Labor, delivery, and having a newborn is tiresome. But it is totally worth it. But it takes time to get back to 'normal'.
DeleteSamuel is so cute, and doesn't look like Israel in my opinion. Very jaundiced, but that should clear up soon hopefully.
ReplyDeleteI think the complete opposite. I think he looks just like Israel and doesn't look jaundiced at all
DeleteJill looks like she's having a rough recovery. Hope everything is alright.
ReplyDeleteC-sections take awhile to recover from. She is probably in pain from the incision and believe me the pain is terrible. Plus one doesn't get much rest in the hospital win vitals are checked in the middle of the night. Praying for a speedy recovery for her.
DeleteOops! That should have said "when vitals are checked" not "win" vitals are checked.
DeleteI think she probably lost a lot of blood. I wonder if she ruptured.
DeleteRegina, the pain is NOT terrible. I had two; it is minor. You just have to be careful getting in and out of the hospital bed and lifting. Once you figure out how to do that, no problem. You should be on your feet ASAP and walking. I was a few hours after my kids were born.
DeleteI agree with Regina, my scheduled C-Section (breech baby) was indeed painful. It didn't help that I'm a very light sleeper (light sensitive too). I scared one poor night shift nurse, who was clearly expecting to have to wake me to check vitals. LOL All that aside, Jill does look like she maybe did lose quite a bit of blood. I'm sure the nurses are taking good care of her and Derick seems like he'll be very helpful around the house and with Israel until Jill's back on her feet. Plus, she's got a whole army of little mothers, Michelle, and two adult sisters close by to pitch in...far more support than most new moms get. :)
DeleteAnon 11:28 You can't say that it is not terrible pain. Everyone experiences different levels of pain. My sister had three children with no pain medicine and when I was in labor and in horrible pain, she asked me what it felt like. She was never in a lot of pain when she had children. I was in horrible pain. Everyone is different.
DeleteMy emergency C-section and recovery were both a piece of cake, and I'm not exaggerating. I think God was merciful because the years to come would bring some real hardships. But I'm posting this to point out that not all C-sections are painful with a lengthy recovery.
Delete11:28. Regina had a different experience. Don't tell her she had no pain! I'm pretty sure you weren't there.
DeleteYes I can say if the pain is terrible or not. I had more than one, one after a long induced labor. The first one I felt when they were sewing me up. I spent an uncomfortable night with no pain killers (worries about my blood pressure) after a long induced labor.
DeleteUncomfortable is NOT terrible. In the scheme of things, an uncomfortable day or two is no big deal and not TERRIBLE. Recovery was fast and I was not a young 20-something when I had my kids.
It is all in the attitude, ladies. You figure out how not to put pressure on your incision and you get on with it. Get out of bed and walk. It will hasten the recovery.
Terrible pain is that from incurable cancer pain killers cannot dull.
So, ladies, get a grip. If you think the pain from a C-Section is terrible, you are in for a shock.
Everyone has a different pain threshold so everyones experience will be different not just with c-sections but any operation. As a nurse I have looked after many women following hysterectomies some bounce back and need minimal analgesia while others can be on opioids for a few days. As women we really need to be kinder to each other.
DeleteSamuel is most definitely in the NICU, praying for them. This comes from a 2 time NICU mom of 5.
ReplyDeleteYes all of these photos are in a hospital. They must have been there the whole week.
DeleteHe looks looks like Israel ! What a handsome little guy!
ReplyDeleteIzzy looks like Jill. Samuel looks like Derick. the brothers look alike specially the nose. congrats.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little guy!
ReplyDeleteJill is beautiful! She is radiating with love as she is looking at her new blessing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute baby! And so healthy looking. Not a touch of jaundice. Jill looks so beautiful. Just amazing for having had such a long labor, followed by surgery. They all look so happy. What a great time in their lives. Best wishes to them!
ReplyDeleteHah, im pretty sure no one looks wonderful after being in labor for hours THEN having to get a c-section. I know I was quite a mess when I pushed for two hours followed by a c-section. It's major surgery people.
ReplyDeleteI think she looks beautiful! And my goodness that baby is adorable, congrats Dillard family!
-Kristy D
Thats all true but she looks vastly different here than she did after Israel which was the exact same situation. Actually, she labored much longer with Israel. She I think there have been addtional complications.
DeleteTrue and let's not forget theses pictures are 5 days later, we dont know they were taken immediately after having the baby. Personally, I feel there is a reason we didn't see Jill for 5 days. She still does not look well and it's not just lack of makeup. And if you notice in the congrats video from her parents they said nothing about how Jill was doing, did not address it at all, which I found odd. So no one knows what really went on but them... just have prayed for them.
DeleteI think he looks like Spurge. Love the name Samuel though. Jill looks a little tearful, but ok - quite normal after c-section & hormones changing fast to produce milk. Looks like I did after giving birth each time I had no energy to do my make up &
ReplyDeletehair - in fact I prefer Hills natural look than the 'perfect family photo' so many share.
I agree he looks a lot like Spurgeon. And Jill looks like a tearful, loving Mother adoring her beautiful son.
Delete"I had no energy to do my make up &
Deletehair" Huh? Really? That comment makes you sound so well... Why should you even bother about hair and make-up, especially with a newborn. In fact, a baby SHOULD NOT come in contact with bacterial-infested make-up (which ALL nakeup is after you use in once).
RE: the hair and makeup comment-You might be surprised just how many moms these days feel very pressured to have the Instagram Photo finish makeup, hair perfectly styled, nails done "birth picture". It's a lot like the positivity movement where people are pressured to only say good, positive, "sunny/happy" things and smile, regardless of the truth or problem. It's a terrible thing to do to people, pressuring them to deny what they really feel. Just like our "Instagram/Pinterest/Twitter world" essentially telling them they're worth less than others if they're not "picture perfect". After my C-section and very little sleep on my noisy hospital floor, it took me several days to feel ready to put on makeup and "fix my hair". I'm far from vain, but there is a documented psychological advantage/mental lift when you've had a surgery or ypu've been ill, to getting a shower, putting on some favorite outfit, putting on light makeup, and fixing your hair. After my C-Section, I was so grateful for that first shower. One of my much older, wiser Co-Workers (with grown children) gave me a beautiful body wash & lotion set as a Baby Shower gift. I asked God to bless her each time I took a shower my baby's first year. :) My heart goes out to Jill and I really hope she takes good care of herself and eases back into things at her own pace.
Delete11:22, no need to attack and criticize the original poster. She was just trying to say what probably many of us are thinking - people are talking about how weak and sickly Jill looks while some of the rest of us remember what it was like to have just had a baby and not have the energy to be trying to make ourselves look pretty for the camera.
Delete11:22 did you misread the comment. Your answer makes no sense and comes across as hostile.
Delete11:22, you're way off base. Not nice.
DeleteI do think they resemble each other Adorable baby.
ReplyDeleteHe definitely doesn't look like a newborn. My son was just born, but is 6 days older. Samuel looks way older than my son. He's adorable though.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what pictures other commenters saw, but I thought mother and baby both looked fine. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteYes, Samuel looks like Israel.
ReplyDeleteHope Jill is doing well.
GOD bless this family!
Sharon frm SC
I wish they would just tell us how Jill is doing.
ReplyDeleteMom and I think he's so cute. Take it easy Jill. Make sure you rest.
ReplyDeleteJill looks like a women who went thru 40 hours of labour before a c section. She looks exhausted. I hope she is getting some rest and good tlc from family. I really hope they stay home.
ReplyDeleteNo, Israel looks like his mom. I think Samuel is going to look like his dad. He looks like a mighty big baby! No wonder she had to have him C-section. Just how big was he?
ReplyDelete9 lbs. 10 oz.
DeleteI hope Jill takes time to rest and heal. Derick, Jill, Israel and Samuel are a cute family.
ReplyDeleteWow! Sam is such a cutie-pie. I am thankful to see that he is healthy. I hope Jill is too, I guess next time I won't panic when I see the "scary" hospital photo first. Just the Duggars way I guess... Anyhow, glad the baby is well!! ❤️
ReplyDeletein agreement Samuel looks jaundiced, but he is cute. I don't think that he looks like Israel..
ReplyDeleteEveryone looks happy and healthy. Jill is probably just tired. We all know that giving birth is a difficult thing to put your body through.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised at people commenting on how Jill looks like she's unwell and having a rough recovery. It's hard to tell how someone is doing from one picture. I would not expect a woman who went through a lengthy labor and a surgery and is now up multiple times a night with a newborn and short on sleep to look perfectly healthy or rested. Give the poor woman some time to recover!
ReplyDeleteThen why hasn't the family come out and commented that she is doing well. Nothing of the sort has been said.
DeleteThey haven't commented that she isn't doing well, either. I'm sure if something were going on that they wanted us to know, they would tell us. Meanwhile, we should give her some space to recover in peace.
DeletePoor Jill. She has a long labor and a c-section, and people complain that they don't post pictures of her and the baby in the first few days. I had a baby in December, no complications, short labor, and I didn't want a camera anywhere near me for at least the first week! Likely Derick was busy taking care of Jill and the baby and didn't waste time posting all their pictures pronto! I know that they have chosen to share their life with the public, but if they choose to keep certain aspects private, or delay sharing, that is also their choice.
ReplyDeleteI pray that Jill and Samuel are healthy and that Jill has a peaceful recovery.
Not sharing or making every detail public is simply not how they have operated so that's why it seems completely out of character.
DeleteI agree, Sunnysideup. They've never shared every little detail with us and the public should quench its insatiable "need to know."
Deletethey have always shared every little detail, immediately.
DeleteNo, they really haven't shared "every little detail immediately." I remember plenty of speculation on the comments for this blog and on Facebook after Israel and Spurgeon's births.
DeleteYou must be joking or have selective memory. Every previous birth had People magazine photo shoots. They did, in fact, overshare details immediately.
Deletelooks like a baby. newborn am sure jill is fine and already home . lets try to quit playing doctor when duggars give birth seems to happen everytime they give birth. having /giving birth is a natural thing . been going on forever, before medication was used lets all RELAX! mary keim mennonite hambden twp ohio!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree Mary. Jill looks tired .. she just gave birth for goodness sake!
DeleteSure, birth is a natural thing that has been going on forever. However, natural processes can and do go wrong. Before the medical technology and knowledge we have today, women and their babies died in childbirth for any number of reasons.
DeleteHow do you know they are home?
DeleteThey may have been home when these pictures were released but they were all taken in the hospital.
DeleteI am watching an episode of 18 kids and counting. And here's what the intro would be like now.
ReplyDeleteThere's me I'm Michelle, there's Jim Bob, my wonderful husband, and our children. Josh, he married Anna and they had Mackynzie, Michael, Marcus and Meredith, Jana, John David, Jill, she married Derick and they had Israel and Samuel, Jessa she married Ben and they had Spurgeon and Henry, Jinger, she ,married Jeremy, Joseph, he's engaged to Kendra, Josiah, Joy Anna, she married Austin, Jedidiah, Jeremiah, Jason, James, Justin, Jackson, Johannah, Jennifer, Jordyn, and Josie. U lost count that's a grand total of 19 and yes I delivered every one of them
You left out a few vital details.
DeleteMy heart is with Jill! Really hoping for a fast recovery. I strongly believe that people should stop asking for pictures of her and the baby. We should give the space and privacy to recover. I know she is a celebrity and make her living by putting her life on the spot but she's still entitled to some privacy.
ReplyDeleteJill, don't rush you'll have plenty of time to take pictures once you're fully recovered, baby and you look beautiful but you still need your rest!!
Blessings 💕🌹
I don't think people want pics of Jill & baby but they do want reassurances that Jill & babe is ok. In their statement they clearly didn't say Mum & baby are doing well or a safe delivery and to release the first & only photo of Samuel needing medical intervention with no brief line was perplexing. Many people naturally care for them and Samuel and pray for them. I've no problem they want privacy and would rather they hadn't released the uncaptioned first photo of Samuel in special baby care and the drama & speculation it created but waited until he recovered then explained and released photos late if they wished for privacy. I get the impression there's confused boundaries between private life and reality life needing publicity to continue.
DeleteYes 7:21, there are confused boundaries and they are on your part not the part of the Dillard or Duggar family.
Delete3:26-are those graceful words seasoned with salt or are they harsh and hateful? So many criticize others for @hating" and "judging". Let's not be guilty if the same thing. Folks are entitled to their opinions.
Delete@3:26, that is extremely rude. 7:21 was not being disrespectful, only making a statement.
DeleteI think I'm the only one that thinks he looks like Henry...lol...my first impression. Then in one pic I thought he looked like Spurgeon. I hope Jill is okay. I'm actually a little worried about her. She doesn't look so well.
ReplyDeleteThere is no reason for someone with the birth history that Jill has to have labored for 40 hours and then receive a c-section. Was she laboring at home hoping for a VBAC or was she in the hospital hoping for one? This is the question we all ask out here...that's not an invasive one. Also, what was the situation with Samuel's vitals at birth? Why was he hooked up to those monitors and how long were they (he/she) in the hospital after delivery? Will they both be ok and what, if any, was the result in Jill's second C-section? Can she have any more children? These, once again, are general questions and the followers of this family should be informed of FACT so there is no incorrect speculation. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThat bottom picture...Jill in a striped skirt, holding Israel, and they're in a car...no car seat?? Who has a baby loose in a car, even it it's stopped? I thought babies came home from the hospital in a car seat or they didn't come home at all!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't allowed to leave the hospital without a car seat for my son.
DeleteThere are many reasons to ridicule the Duggars, but this isn't one of them. Many women sit in a parked car to nurse their babies when they are out and about. In those instances they wouldn't be in a car seat. Also I believe when Israel was born Derick was still working a proper job with Walmart. It was well documented that Jill frequently drove to have lunch with him - often in the car outside his office.
DeleteI was wondering the same thing! I'm surprised no one else has said a thing about this.
DeleteWell, if you think about it, someone in the driver's seat is taking the picture. So obviously they weren't driving when the picture was taken.
DeleteToday is Saturday, 7/15. Was there going to be an announcement from the family about Jill and Samuel? Please respond yes or no. We don't appreciate being teased with photos suggesting something with no explanation. When were they sent home from the hospital?
ReplyDeleteThere was a post suggesting that Jill and Samuel had the Zika virus that's why there weren't any photos. What does this family say about that? Is this post true or not?
ReplyDeleteAny word on how Jill is doing. Someone said both she and the baby have zika. Is this true?
ReplyDeleteOmg I hope not....
DeleteC'mon now. They'd been back for weeks, so they would not *have* the Zika virus, as in an active virus.
DeleteAny word on how Jill is doing. Someone said both she and the baby have zika. Is this true?
ReplyDeleteI've been praying for Jill.
ReplyDeleteI'm not too worried because of how she looks in the photo. Any impromptu photo is hard to compare to staged photos. At any rate she looks better in that photo than I do on a good day!
I am worried because we haven't heard anything about how she's doing, and not releasing any info or pictures is a departure from her m.o. so far. If things had gone easily, we would have heard by now.
Don't get me wrong, she has no obligation to put herself in the spotlight. Especially if she had a rough time, the added stress of cameras and having to decide how to talk about it to strangers may be a bad idea. I'm curious how it went, but I'm happy to respect her boundaries.
So I'm praying that she heals physically and emotionally from any injuries and bad experiences, that she will be surrounded by wise people who are able to help with whatever she needs, and that she will have peace about the future.
I think Israel most resembles his dad, especially when comparing with photos of Derrick as a young boy. Newborns all look the same to me, so I can't say who Samuel takes after.
ReplyDeleteAwww no picture of the new brothers together!
ReplyDeleteIn the photo of Jill sitting in the hospital chair holding Samuel, she looked very pale. I think she may have lost a lot of blood in the process. This is why we would like to know some facts about the situation. No incorrect speculation should be going on out here, but we are human and will speculate. They should set the record straight. Nothing wrong in doing so.
ReplyDeleteRe: The Jaundice issue- In picture 3 of Samuel's album, his schlera (the white part of the eye)look yellowed. In picture 4 where he's lying in the layette with his head turned toward the camera, the schlera are yellowed (with darker yellow at the inner and out corners). It's not uncommon in babies and often appears by the 2nd-3rd day. It's usually not dangerous and sometimes caused by dehydration or bruising during birth. You can bet whatever the case, the nursing staff is on it.
ReplyDeleteRE: Samuel's triple layers of clothing in Album pictures 2 & 5 - Having trouble maintaining body temperature outside of a warming unit stresses the baby and can cause him to lose weight/use more energy.
Isn't it caused by bilirubin build-up before the liver functions efficiently? At least, that's what I was told. Twice. By doctors. When my kids had jaundice after birth.
Delete
