Six down, 13 to go! As of May 26th, six of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's 19 children were engaged or married. Each proposal was unique and different.
Josh Duggar proposed to Anna Keller by surprising her at Gator Landing, a Florida restaurant where she was dining with her parents on her 20th birthday (June 23, 2008). We don't have any official photos of that moment, but here is a short video:
Derick Dillard proposed to Jill Duggar in late March 2014, after having a singer-songwriter perform a song about their relationship. Her response was, "Yes, totally!" Click here to read the details.
Ben Seewald's proposal to Jessa Duggar took place five months later on August 14th, 2014. Ben got down on one knee at Throncrown Chapel, following an elaborate engagement scavenger hunt. A teary-eyed Jessa accepted with a simple "yes." (Click here to read all about it.)
Almost two years later--in late July, 2016--Jeremy Vuolo popped the question to Jinger Duggar on a New York City rooftop. A very stunned Jinger responded with a whispered, "Yes."
The following spring, in early March 2017, Austin Forsyth asked Joy-Anna Duggar to marry him during a horseback ride through the beautiful Arkansas hills. The full proposal has not yet aired on TLC, but the couple celebrated with an outdoor dinner.
And most recently, Joseph Duggar proposed to Kendra Caldwell during Joy and Austin's wedding reception. Kendra was shocked!

ReplyDeleteWhen I watch the proposal to Anna I find it hard to believe she married him despite knowing what he had done to his sisters, it would be interesting to know exactly what she was told. I am sure she never could have imagined how he would come to hurt her.

ReplyDeleteI disagree. Anna had prayed years earlier that she wouldn't seriously consider a marriage until she turned 20. Josh drove from Arkansas to Florida to surpise her at her 20th Birthday dinner. I personally feel like a lot of thought and effort went into his proposal.

ReplyDeleteI know some just wishful think and this subject is mentioned often, but I do think that a courtship for Jana is not far off. There was something about her reaction to a question about events coming up in their family. It was just the way she answered it. In God's time, not ours though. So, I pray it will be a wise choice no matter who it is.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite engagement was Jill and Derrick but I really think Austin and Joy's will surpass the Dillard's engagement. This young couple remind me of Jim Bob and Michelle in so many ways - I guess this is the reason they are my current favorites.

ReplyDeleteI loved Derick's proposal to Jill, with that beautiful song. It was very romantic. I loved Ben's proposal to Jessa in that Chapel, extremely romantic. Jeremy's proposal was gorgeous with that band playing Come Thou Fount on the NYC rooftop. But Josh's proposal to Anna on her 20th birthday was uncomfortable to watch even back in 2008, and I don't think I'm going to like Austin's proposal to Joy from the previews we've seen with the blindfold.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree- we found Josh's proposal to Anna uncomfortable to watch also when it aired. He came on way too strong and Anna actually looked a little alarmed/uncomfortable at one point and sort of shrunk back into the booth. He seemed to be pulling out all the stops to "dazzle" her while they were courting, more so than trying to actually get to know her and she was naive and overly impressed by who he was. It gave me a bad feeling and now we know why. So sad. I hope and pray he will one day be genuinely full of remorse, sorrow, and regret for those he has harmed, as well as those he turned from Christ by his behavior (2002, 2006, 1015, 2017). Repentant people don't sue those who exposed their sin or their crime.

And how awkward that he kept saying "it's half a carat".."white gold with little diamonds" He sounds like he was quite impressed with himself more than pleasing Anna. I'm saying to sweet, beautiful, Anna..it's time for you to say to Josh "I want a 5 carat flawless diamond in platinum from Tiffany's"!! For Anna, lovey, you more than deserve it!!

ReplyDeleteI hope Jana! She's solo beautiful inside and out, but just hasn't found the one God has for her yet. Though I wish it was Jana, I think it's going to be Josiah. Every time he gets asked about any girls he's talking to he always says that there's one in particular that he's praying about, but nothing official has happened so ya never know. The mystery and anticipation is the best part!

I am not a huge fan of this family however recently I have read a lot of posts where people have been saying some horrible things about Kendras looks which is so wrong. I would be so hurt if someone was saying such things about my daughter, no wonder so many young girls are obsessed and worried about their appearance. I have many issues with things this family does but please do not attack a young woman on her appearance it is uncalled for and she doesn't deserve it.

ReplyDeleteWhy does it look like there is a tape marker on the exact spot where Jeremy kneels to propose to jinger? I never noticed that before, it makes it look staged for cameras.
ReplyDeleteThe tape has been discussed before. Of course it was there to make sure everyone was in place for the camera. And the proposal at a wedding reception? Done last year at Derick's brother's wedding. Not an original idea by Joe or Joy.
DeleteThat's because it was. Jeremy and Jinger are both "J"'s, so the "V" was to mark Jeremy's position to stand for the camera crew to film it.

Sorry, not sorry, I support the duggar family.
