Recap: 'Spurgeon's 1st Birthday' and Amy and Dillon: Married One Year'

Counting On "Spurgeon's First Birthday"
  • Down in Laredo, Jinger and Jeremy head to a local market to buy food. “I love living in Laredo,” says Jinger. “It’s just a neat area.” She hopes to learn Spanish because so many people in Laredo speak it.
  • Italian-blooded Jeremy gets a little too excited when he sees a five-pound block of fresh mozzarella cheese. He buys the whole thing, thinking they have a grater. Jinger is a little apprehensive, but she just shrugs her shoulders and carries on. When they return home, Jeremy pulls out the potato peeler, and Jinger busts out laughing.
  • Jinger cooks fajitas while Jeremy works out in their apartment.
  • Jinger and Jeremy say they are looking forward to starting a family in God's timing. “I think we would love to start a family…in the next five years,” says Jeremy.
  • In Arkansas, Anna and Jill bring their kids over to Jessa’s house to prepare for a consignment shopping trip. They take measurements of their kiddos so they don’t have to try clothes on.
  • On the day of the sale, shopping with six children proves to be very difficult. Although the ladies are watching their kids very closely, Marcus falls and splits his head. Anna remains calm and applies pressure to the cut. She and Jill take Marcus to the doctor’s office to get stitches, while
  • Jessa wraps up the shopping trip and takes the other five kids home. “I can definitely see this happening to me one day,” says Jill. “I just hope I can respond with as much grace…as Anna did.”
  • Two months into their courtship, Joy is helping Austin with his fifth house flipping project. Austin’s dad, Terry, is the chaperone.
  • When Austin was 17 and starting work on his first house, his dad suggested he wait until his fourth house sold to start a relationship and until his fifth house sold to get married. Terry shares that Austin started his courtship with Joy the minute his fourth house closed.
  • “With this fifth house almost being finished, I have been thinking about next steps,” says Austin. Joy says she feels ready for engagement.
  • Later, Joy plans Spurgeon’s first birthday party and enlists the little kids to help. Jessa admits she was relieved when her younger sister offered to organize the party. Michelle and Joy make homemade fruit sorbet while the kids decorate.
  • Ben’s mom and siblings come over to attend the party. They recently moved from the country to a house in Little Rock, and it has been a big adjustment (for them and the neighbors). Ben is the oldest of seven.
  • “I’m sure I have the sweetest mother-in-law in the whole world,” says Jessa.
  • At the party, everyone gathers around while Spurgeon tears into his smash cake. He tolerates it for a short while, but when he takes a taste, he spits up.
  • Jessa, Ben, and Spurgeon video chat with Jinger and Jeremy, who had to miss the party.
"Amy and Dillon: Married One Year"
  • Amy Duggar and Dillon King have been married one year. They were friends for six years, dated for eight months, and were engaged less than three months.
  • “Marriage is fun, but it’s not for the faint of heart,” says Amy. Her parents divorced partway through the year, which was especially tough. Amy and Dillon appeared on the reality show Marriage Boot Camp in hopes that it would improve their marriage. While they say they learned a lot, they also say that their marriage is still a work in progress.
  • The Kings are in the process of renovating their house. They tear out the tile surrounding their fireplace and replace it with stained wood.
  • When Amy’s 30th birthday rolls around, she goes out with a friend, while Dillon pulls together a bunch of surprises. He picks up food, decorates the house (with help) and brings home a new pet cat. “One cat for me is good enough, but Amy really wanted a second cat,” says Dillon. During the party, the men cook the food while the ladies chat. Dillon brings out the cat (a Savannah), and Amy is thrilled.
  • For their one-year anniversary, Amy and Dillon go back to Cancun, Mexico, where they spent their honeymoon. Rather than just lounging on the beach, they go on a zip lining tour through the trees and into a cenote.
  • During takeout dinner on the beach, Amy brings up the topic of children and asks Dillon what he is thinking. They both say they want to start a family "sooner rather than later" but that they would like to do some traveling first.
  • Amy also mentions that they aren't using birth control. She says (sort of jokingly but sort of seriously) that if they don't have a child in a year, she wants another cat. Dillon isn't thrilled about the idea of having three cats, so we'll see what happens!

  1. I'm only 10 minutes into Amy & Dillon's show, but it's kind of stressing me out. I feel like I'm listening to my kids bicker, and who wants to watch that on tv?

    1. I agree! I only watched a few minutes before I turned it off. Too stressful. Not enjoyable at all. Amy seems to have no respect for her husband at all. So sad!

    2. I couldnt take it either. I enjoy counting on. I loved watching the diggers. I wish Amy the best.

    3. You are so mean. I love watch Amy and Dillon. At least Amy didn't get married young like her cousins did and have babies.

    4. I agree! So not worth our time to watch grown ups fuss at each other!

    5. Those two love to act dysfunctional for a TV camera. That was the entire premise of the "counseling" show they were on. The producers made them bicker and then try to work it out. If you think this 1 hr. show was bad, you should have seen that other show!

    2. Because her behavior was so bizarre and atrocious last time she was on TV, I would say.

    3. Well...5:55 PM... speaking of judgments: Every time you turn on the TV, you have to make a judgment about what to watch, don't you? I make my judgment to NOT watch Amy. Just not interested after seeing her in Marriage Boot Camp.

    4. Anon @ 10:12 If anyone says anything the fans think is negative about the Duggars they are jumped apon, so why do you think it is ok to speak about others in such a negative way? Judge not lest ye be judged, sound fsmiliar?

  3. The fruit sorbet sounds delicious! It was good to see Ben's mom again. Shopping with that many kids would be a mite stressful! I have five, but I only take a couple with me when I shop.

  4. Good episode and glad Marcus wasn't hurt more seriously.
Next week is Henry birth which I won't be watching. I don't understand why someone would allow such a private time viewed by many unless a medical documentary.

Really enjoyed Amy and Dillon special and hope TLC has more episodes to share. I'm glad they are happy and sincerely working on their relationship and commitment to each other.

  5. Lovely to read the recap, thank you. Living in Australia we won't get to see the episodes till October this year 😱 Can't wait to see it though. Hearing about Jinger and Jeremy and an update of how they are is great and the shopping consignment trip sounds challenging but in true form it sounds like Anna deals with it beautifully. Hurrah Anna, Ido do love to hear how she and the children are going, I'm so glad they are in the show too. TG 🇦🇺

  7. Why all these info about Amy??

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Most likely because she is related to the Duggars

      Delete
    2. It's strange how Amy acts one way around the Duggar relatives and then lets the 4-letter words fly when not around them, as witnessed by her other show.

      Delete
    3. Anon @ 10:13. So do you want her to swear when she is around her cousins? Amy always shows respect for her family and their beliefs. She has to go to them to visit, and always dresses modestly around them. Even at her wedding she went out of her way to accommodate the Duggars who left before the reception was even over, which is just rude in my opinion. She seems to be the one who has to fit in with them but they never do the same for her.

      Delete
    4. Do you think they should start dressing differently and cussing to fit in with Amy? I think they have always accepted and loved her as she is. They have not said one bad word about her. Maybe Amy advised them to leave her reception early since she was going to have dancing there and that is something the Duggars don't participate in.

      Delete
    5. So which is the real Amy? The one who shows respect, or the one who acts the other way when given the chance?

  8. Yep, don't think the Vuolos are in any big rush to start a family just yet. Good for them.

    1. I have to agree. Amy has matured and is making an honest effort in her marriage.
With everything in her past being a rebel should be a given.
It appears she is appreciating what she has and working on herself.
I wonder how many readers here can say the same about themselves.
It's nice to see she has peace in her heart and life now.

    2. @1:09 - Have you seen Amy and how she was on Marriage Boot Camp? One of the least "Christian" shows on TV...

      Delete
    3. On marriage Boot camp they show the bad stuff and edit out the good stuff.

      Delete
    4. Then you have to ask yourself why there was so much "bad stuff" to show on that program. And if it was all contrived, why someone would want to play along and present themselves and their relationship like that.

      Delete
    5. Maybe this show was trying to undo the damage done by being on Boot Camp? But you can't un-see what's been seen. And doing damage repair on your public image later is never as effective as not damaging it in the first place. Amy seems to be craving camera time, no matter what happens.

  11. That entire Marcus episode was upsetting. First, that it happened, and second, that all anyone seemed to be focused on was how "calm" Anna was. At least she admitted that she was "right there" and it still happened. Commenters on this blog have said many times that situations shared in pictures looked dangerous for the kids, and the rebuttal has always been, "But the parents are right there!" I hope the severity of the accident tonight plus the fact that Anna was "right there" sunk in with the rest of the moms in this family. Although I still heard an "Oh well, accidents will happen" attitude from Jessa. She and Jill need to step it up when it comes to child safety. They've both posted some pictures of their children in not-so-safe situations.

    9. One summer I ran around the back of the pick-up and got popped by the bar of the trailer hitch. No one was around. I cried till I realized no one heard me so I went on and climbed a cedar tree to play Tarzan and Jane. I was alone and imaginary Tarzan was no help at all!!! The blood dried and I felt very accomplished to have survived doctoring myself. Later Daddy cleaned the wound off with coal oil. You all raised in the 50's in the country will understand that. Mama tied it up with a rag from the "rag bag". I lived. No mama guilt or regrets. Went on later to raise a houseful of healthy kids. The scar wasn't visible after 50 years.

  14. Amy may not be using birth control, but Jeremy and Jinger sure are, based on Jeremy's comments. Good for them. Just as Anna took advantage of medical treatment for her child's injury, contraceptives help couples plan their families. It's a responsible choice.

    1. If they are using something or even trying a natural method, I wonder how this sits with the rest of the family, their views on this topic, and their literal interpretation of the Bible? (I know of a passage in Genesis that sort of speaks to this.)

      Delete
    2. I was glad to see this. They can show their family that there is another way to live a Christian life without having baby after baby.

      Delete
    3. Responsible according to who???
It's widely known and has been demonstrated by cientific researches that birth control pill and other artificial birth control methods change the lining of the uterus, possibly leading to abortion when the first purpose of the pill fails (supress ovulation). That's the main reason why it's not accepted among SERIOUS christian denominations (I'm not talking about "churches" that look more like a circus).
Plus it has horrible side effects that can be life threatening. Just look at the thousands of women on the internet complaining about it. Recently a non-regilious group of french women went public to talk about the risks of Mirena and how it impacted their lives. I personally know two women who went to the hospital because of birth control pill, one who had an abortion when trying to conceive after stopping with the pill, and one who just got pregnant while on the pill! So how is that responsible to put your life and your child's life at risk like that?
Also, there is a little thing called "natural family planning methods". It may not be "popular" among doctors and most of the women out there, but when used correctly, it IS effective! I've been using it for 10 years now and it works even for women with irregular cycles (like me). Is it easy? No, of course it's not, but it gets easier with pratice and with the help of an instructor (like I had). And when you consider you don't have to risk your life to responsably "pop out" kids, it's wonderfull!
Now, as for Jinger and Jeremy, their life is none of my business, but if they really are using birth control pill while calling themselves "christians", then they are two hypocrite christians for me.

      Delete
    4. I have a friend who could have lost her life due to multiple blood clots brought on by years of the birth control pill. She could barely walk without stopping to catch her breath and fortunately made it to the hospital just in time.

      Delete
    5. @4:45pm totally agree with you, I've been using the "natural family planning" for 27 years and I've had irregular menstrual circles all my life and it still works perfectly for me we have six children and they are two to six and seven years apart!
About jinger and Jeremy I don't know if they're using anything to prevent a pregnancy but if they are then they shouldn't use the words "in God's timing" because it's not "god's timing" it's our timing, since the moment we start doing something to prevent it. If jinger and Jeremy want to wait than good for them!

      Many blessings 💕🌹

      Delete
    6. I agree. Family planning gives you much more freedom and control. And you get to know your body better because of it. And it actually works. I am having my fifth child, and the doctors don't like that I don't use birth control. But, if you do family planning right, then you don't need any of those controversial methods.
And you are not harming yourself.

      Delete
    7. I think the information you are reading is wrong. There has been no proof that the pill causes miscarriage, infact longterm use has been proven to reduce the risk of a number of female cancers. Mirena isn't just used as a contraceptive it is also used for ladies suffering with heavy periods and has helped thousands of women worldwide. Every medication can have side effects but not everyone will be affected. Many things can cause the pill to fail and pregnancy to occur, such as being sick while taking it, or being late or missing a tablet. I am a nurse and have worked in obs/gyne and have encountered many women who have gotten pregnant while taking the pill, and gone on to have healthy babies. Saying someone is not a christian if they use birth control is riduculous and insulting to me, anyone who calls someone a hypocrite for using birth control is not a christian themselves as they are judging others, and doing so uninformed. Something to think about.

      Delete
    8. 5:32 Actually, my informations are correct, it's stated on medical researches that certain contraceptives can inhibit IMPLANTATION, and this information can be found in almost any contraceptive drug leaflet. It's not only about "being sick" or "missing a tablet", there are known cases of women who got pregnant while using a IUD that was supposed to be working. That's the main reason why most of the tradicional and serious christian churches won't accept those methods, they can be abortive and they go totally against our christian faith. Yes, I can't judge other people's hearts and intentions, but I can judge facts and actions, and for me people who doesn't practice what they preach are hypocrites.

  15. I'm not able to watch the show on my TV, is there a way to view it on line?

  16. That was possibly the most boring episode of Counting On yet. Jinger goes shopping. Jinger doesn't know Spanish (didn't they all study that at home with a tutor?). All the mom-daughters go shopping. Everyone admires Anna for staying calm (exactly how much emotion does that woman suppress?). They have a party. Someone gags, but not Derick this time. Next week: Someone gives birth. Come on TLC! Admit that you're out of ideas with this family and call it a wrap. You're not doing any favors for the family OR the viewers.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Anna does seem to keep her feelings well under wraps when on camera. It's like she's trying to be another Michelle. I'm not sure that's admirable, or healthy. You have to be able to express your feelings, or you'll go numb inside.

      Delete
    2. They really are making a programme out of the mundane and common place. You are correct @ 8:27 they are out of ideas, time to call it a day. They would be better doing a couple of family catch up specials every year, instead of dragging it out over weeks like this.

      Delete
    3. Why do you watch the show? Just move on.

      Delete
    4. Wow. You must have started watching the show with a negative and closed heart to have that response. Really, how could not have enjoyed the birthday party? Anyway, the show is getting better again. Not sure what exactly has changed but it is more relaxed and fun recently.

      Delete
    5. I know people always comment about Anna staying calm. That doesn't equate to being a better mother. I get fairly excitable about these kinds of things, that doesn't mean I'm less of a mother. So, why is it so important to always praise Anna for being calm?

      Delete
    6. The point of the show is not to come up with new ideas, it's to show what is happening in the Duggars' lives. If you aren't interested in what they're up to, just quit watching. No one wants to hear you complaining about a show you watch voluntarily.

      Delete
    7. This is a real family not a sitcom. They are just showing their lives and some of the things they do. TLC isn't supposed to script their lives. I am enjoying watching them grow up, get married and have their own children. Don't watch if it doesn't interest you.

      Delete
    8. Anon @ 8:27. Re the speaking spanish, I too thought lot of the older kids were taught spanish ( wasn't that how they knew Marjorie because her mom was their tutor?). I thought it strange when the Dillards first moved to Central America that Jill couldn't speak spanish, and even after classes and living there for many months neither she nor Derick seem to have really mastered it.

    9. I agreed with you up until you said call it a wrap,I DISagree with that part! I want the whole family of Duggar's back on the show, they can maybe give it a different name altogether! But yes I miss and enjoy watching ALL the Duggar's not just a selection but ALL of them!

    10. I agree. Watching a couple put together a grocery list? Watching two people grocery shop? That's not creative or novel at all! I'd love to see Michelle running her household. She had so many at home, and dynamics have changed drastically...that would be creative and novel.

    13. "TLC isn't supposed to script their lives" -- ??? That's all they've done on this show and the original one, things that TLC wanted them to do for the camera! It's TLC who can't seem to figure out what to film to make the show interesting, when nothing interesting is happening between weddings and births!

      Delete
    14. I agree with the prior comment that watching how a huge family functions was interesting and educational, but watching a couple shop for groceries is not. I had to change the channel when they actually sat and talked about what to make for dinner, then went to the market and shopped. I had to ask myself -- I'm an intelligent person. Is this a good use of my time? I wonder how Jeremy feels participating in this, if he's doing it just for the money or ....?

    1. They did not. They over acted pretending to be newlyweds laughing at everything the other said and laughing at their own comments as well. It was really terrible. What I learned about Amy is that she is 30 years old and has had no meaningful career nor education and is now "helping out" at her husbands job. Lame

    2. Amy seems very worldly even though she professes to be a Christian. I find her personality quite overbearing.

    3. Some profanities were said during the episode. Personally I don't think that marriage is going to last. Good responsible thinking on Dillon's part to try to dissuade Amy from having a baby now. That, in my opionion, is the last thing they need right now. Sorry folks, but as a therapist myself, this relationship is in trouble.

  18. I'm not at all interested in the Amy King special. I know her family have forgiven her for profiting off of Anna Duggar's heartbreak. But I think it is disloyal to get paid for interviews that are critical to the family. She is a work in progress and I've never followed her or watched her specials. To each their own.

    1. I must have missed something, how did Amy profit off Anna's heartbreak? The whole family including Josh profited off Anna's heartbreak when they put her on the show on numerous occassions to talk about it.

  19. Regarding when they were getting ready to go shopping: How does a footprint of a child give you a shoe size? Don't you have to draw around the foot itself and then add some space in the toe box for wiggle room? That was silly, to put ink on a child's foot, and the print wouldn't even give the whole size of the foot anyway.

  20. I think TLC needs to become a LOT more creative with their Duggar show in order to keep their viewers. There was nothing that interesting in this episode and I am really tired of how TLC gives little clips about future episodes and then when I actually watch the episode, it is basically just those little clips and not much more. How many times in the past months, have we seen the little clip of Jeremy buying the big hunk of mozzarella cheese?! I thought there would be more to "that event" in this episode, but there wasn't. So typical of what this show has become. I am not criticizing the Duggars. I am commenting on the quality of the producing of this show. No trolls, please.

  21. A good "Counting On" episode. Laughed at Jeremy he does like to eat Jingers cooking. Wish Joy would wear loose fitting pants or jeans when working with Austin on houses. The stained wood around Amy's fireplace was beautiful. I do like Amy's husband, and Joy's husband too, they just kill me....Jane

  22. I must say, I'm a little disappointed with Jeremy's statement. I know their life is none of my business, but since this blog is open to different opinions, I will respectfully say what I think.
I don't mind if Jinger doesn't want to follow her parents footsteps, and I don't necessarily think it's wrong waiting to have kids or trying to give some space between each pregnancy, because I'm a catholic christian and I use natural family planning methods myself. I think those methods are a God given gift to use wisely and I think it may be necessary in certain cases. But I just think that opting for avoiding kids by using those methods is a very serious decision that should come from prayer and discernment of God's will, not from a selfish heart. As christians and all we say we believe, we should ALWAYS be open to life, and have a mind and heart open to the possibility of having kids EVEN when using natural methods.
I don't know if Jeremy really meant what he said, but it's quite said to hear that, I really hope he meant something else!
I will not judge Jinger and Jeremy, I don't know anything about them, or if they are using any birth control methods or not, and it's none of my business...
As I said before, I'm just giving a respectfull opinion based only on my impressions about Jeremy's statement.
First, I believe getting married when you're not "ready" to have kids isn't very wise. It will either put a pressure on the woman to use birth control and deal alone with its health risks (if they don't live as christians), or if they live as christians, it will put pressure on the couple to use natural methods that can be quite stressfull when you are in a moment of "discovery of each other", a moment to enjoy each other (just imagine being fertile during your honneymoon, LOL. It happened to me, thank God my husband and I wanted kids at that time). Plus if an undesired pregnancy takes place (with or without birth control pill), it will lead to disappointment and fear, because the couple "wasn't ready" and hadn't an open heart for kids, despite the fact they counsciously got married and had sex before "being ready".
Second, when and if a couple decides to use natural methods, as I already said, it should be a serious decision that comes from prayer and discernment, not from a selsifh worldly point of view.
Unfortunately, the world's vision nowadays is: get married whenever you want, even if you're not ready for marriage and kids! Avoid at all costs having kids during the first years of marriage, kids are a "burden", a "cross", a "mistake", so enjoy your life as much as you can before having kids. To avoid kids, use birth control, it's effective (the world doesn't care if it's bad for your health, if it changes the lining of the uterus and causes abortion, or even if it fails and end up in a pregnancy anyway).
And those birth control complications are not as rare as people think. That are many cientific studies that prove what I'm saying. I personally know 2 people who went to the hospital because of serious health problems related to the pill. I also have an aunt that got pregnant while on the pill, and then got pregnant again after tubarian surgery. And recently, a friend of mine just got pregnant (her husband went through vasectomy).
Also, I wonder how much of Jinger's recent changes comes from her and how she feels about her newlywed life, or if she is only trying to please her husband?
I wish them a happy marriage where both have their voice on the decisions they take, and specially, that God is in the center of all their decisions!

    God bless them!

  23. "Someone gagged and it wasn't Derick." LOL

Kids do fall right in front of your eyes and it's like they fell in slow motion and you still can't prevent the accident. We've all been there.

The silliest thing on last nights show? The young mothers actually taking a tape measure to the babies. GIVE US A break please. The kids clothes come in the same sizes 24 mos 2T etc. no one tries on baby clothes with their babies. You just know what fits them.

Jill is so proud that her kid is tall she wants to brag to the other mothers. Jessa doesn't care because Spud is the cutest of all the Duggar kids and grandkids and her and Ben know it.

    But seriously a tape measure?

    1. I've never done a tape measure w/ my kids, but I have learned that when you get used clothing, it's sometimes a different size than the label. This is because of things shrinking when they've been laundered over and over. I guess I can see what they were thinking with the tape measure.

    2. Actually, I've thrift shopped and hit quality used clothing "Mom sales" for the last 16 years. I learned early to measure both my child and the clothes. Many times the tag may say 12 months, but the previous owner accidentally shrunk it and that's why she's selling it. I measure the clothing that fits my family members best and carry a card with all the measurements in my purse (along with the brands fit them best, favorite colors, etc.). When I'm shopping solo (undistracted), I can confidently score items I know will work for my family. It also allowed me to reasonably estimate next sizes for growing family members.

    3. Why didn't they just draw around the kids' feet? Why get them all inky just to make an impression that wouldn't be the right size anyway?

  24. I wish the maker's of this show would please find another way to show some of the siblings besides asking them inane questions such as " If Jinger were a color, what color would she be?" And... "Describe Joy in three words."

  25. I love Amy. I find her a lot more relatable than the other duggars, no hate just being honest.

  26. As for Amy and her specials, we just change the channel

    1. Such a novel idea obviously lost to many. So simple- don't watch.

    2. Anon @ 6:30 but think how boring this blog would be if they did that!

  27. Well both episodes were good. I give all of them credit for allowing us to share their lives. We see the good and the bad, the happy and the sad.
Life is to be lived and they can't make exciting things happen on cue. So sorry to hear so many say they are bored with the show. Maybe funny videos are more their speed than the Duggar families lives.
So I learned a lot from my fellow "fans", from birth control to practically bubble wrapping my children to nearly hating Amy. Does my stomach ulcer a world of good. It's my own fault for reading the comments but I never learn. You can always tell a true, loving fan from the "nots". God bless 🌈

    1. We don't want funny videos, and we don't want any more Duggar shopping trips or people throwing up. We wish TLC would quit insulting everyone's intelligence with this show. They even purposely put the kids on the spot and ask them inane questions they can't answer ("What kind of cheese would Jinger be?" "Name 3 types of fabric."). TLC is trying their hardest to make this show bad! It's no wonder the fans are grumbling!

    2. So right, 8:43! TLC had 21 different people to work with (before anyone got married), and now they have even more. They could spend way more time on this show letting the people speak and explain things going on in their lives (which they seem hesitant to ever do) and way LESS time following them around as they try to identify food in grocery stores or buy used clothes. There is no "depth" to this show any more. It's all shallow, meaningless activities and silly questions. TLC should make this more of a documentary of their lifestyle, not just tagging along while they shop or eat at a restaurant or throw another party. The reason people watched in the first place was to see the unique lifestyle of a very Christian family with so many children! Remember those early shows and how informative they were?

    3. If TLC wanted to end this show all they need to do is not renew their contracts. I think there really isn't a lot that is interesting day to day about the family, and the production company don't have the money to spend on trips here there and everywhere to create storylines. Maybe making a couple of specials every year would be the way to go, just cover the 'highlights' leave out the same old same old?

    4. How can TLC not renew contracts if they are under long-term contracts with the Duggars? If TLC didn't uphold their end, it would be breach of contract.

    5. Anon @ 2:13 how do you know they have long term contracts? Even long term contracts expire at some stage.

  28. Maybe the only one thinking this but a first birthday celebration is a BIG DEAL for most parents - especially for the first child. Why would Jessa and Ben pass on planning Spurgie's party? I was pregnant with my second and on bedrest but still managed to plan my first child's party!

    ReplyDelete

    1. Who knows, it seemed all arranged for the cameras. They said they skipped the party at the actual time because of Jinger's wedding. But you only get one first birthday for your children, so yes, you'd think you would want to be in on it more, not just show up and make an entrance.

      Delete
    2. I'm guessing they didn't plan it themselves because maybe Jessa was worn out from being far along in a pregnancy, having a baby to take care of, and having just been through her sister's wedding all at the same time.

      Delete
    3. I found that odd to. Even if efforts were a gift I still don't understand the dynamics but it appears common for them.

  29. Either this show is scripted and scenes are rehearsed with TLC writing things for this family to do, (which I believe it is) or it ISN'T. Now, which is it?

  30. I've been watching the Duggars since they began their tv career. I guess I feel invested in their lives and so it's familiar and comfortable watching them do even "boring" things. My husband once watched an episode with me,where Josh and Anna got a new bbq. He asked, " Why are we watching these people put a bbq together?" So I get why some people call this show boring, I think it always has been like that.

  31. I like how relaxed and easy going Jinger seems with her new life, I like how relaxed Jess is with her interviews. Anna seems to be trying so hard to be perfect, like trying to follow a set of rules or standards. She's a great person, don't want her to lose what makes her, her. I'd love to see her play with her kids and act silly, not watch her "training" them.

  32. I did not enjoy Amy's show. Sorry.I will not watch again.
