Yesterday was Marcus Duggar's 4th birthday, and the Duggars celebrated with family and friends. Marcus is the third Duggar grandchild and the third child of Josh and Anna.

DeleteI have a hard time seeing Josh playing Happy Families after all that happened. I know I'm not alone in this opinion. What price was paid for what he ever did, starting with his sisters? A few months away from home and only his wife and kids allowed on TLC - those seem to be the only punishments. Others who do those same things get far greater consequences.
DeleteI might accept seeing Josh again had his family been honest about what happened from the start and had he served the terms of punishment he deserved. But I can't accept cover-ups, no true prices paid, and seeing a crying woman who had little choice but to stay with the man who so betrayed her. Those things are wrong and very disappointing.

His parents did not disown him, they are showing him love despite his choices and behaviors. As a parent you always love your children no matter what. If josh were my son I would forgive and still love him. Of course I would have handled the entire situation differently and would be telling him how much I loved him through prison bars but bottom line. You love your children no matter what and if they need help, you get them the help they need! If they commit crimes, you still love them!( but make sure they obey the law and if they don't then they should pay the consequences of their crimes. No one is above the law!!)

DeleteI agree with several statements made here. First, Josh has not been punished. I say that because my son-in-law did something very similar to what Josh did and he is in prison. Secondly, my daughter has forgiven her husband but he will not be anywhere near the children. Just because you forgive a murderer, adulterer, or molester does not mean you would want that person in your house let alone in your life. God is a loving and forgiving God. God also has blessed us with being able to bring children into this world under our care. We as their parents, grandparents, and others are supposed to keep them safe. How is letting an admitted molester around your children whether he is the father or not protecting them? Your not. The counselor that my daughter and I went to told us that there is no cure for their behavior. The only thing that can be done is to give them tools they need so that when the urge comes back they can deal with it in a more proper way. So I would really like to know how many people writing to this blog would really allow a molester into their home around their children? No one in their rightin would do that. Anna and her children can have a very blessed and happy life on their own. Once you take the garbage out to the curb, you don't bring it back into the house. I'm saying all of this because I feel I can relate to the situation here since the same thing happened in my family so I hope you post this. Maybe it could help someone.

ReplyDeleteJust a question... why would you be so glad to see Josh? I'm trying to understand. Anna I have a lot of respect for honoring keeping her marriage vows, I have no problem with seeing her. The kids are precious no problem with them. But really, why as a Christian, does Josh deserve publicity? What has he done to show a changed man, which is what repentance is. I'm sorry, I hold no ill will towards him or his parents, but as for representing Christians, they've given so many people reason to claim everything about christianity is not true and it breaks my heart.

DeleteI have a daughter and four boys and the oldest is 5. We got him a Nerf gun at age 4 but took it back right away. No one was safe from the nerfs. And the kind he had were hard and not very safe. I think it's best when they are older.

DeleteSome of those Nerf guns ARE battery powered and can shoot darts 90 feet. It's not a safe toy for a 4 year old to have. If it was, they wouldn't sell them with Age 8+ on the package! Anna has enough on her hands with a baby coming and 4 little ones. She can't supervise Marcus every minute with that gun. Whoever gave it to him should be sorry.

I believe God will use the 'test' he walked through as a testimony and the Lord will reach Josh to reach other young men, before they become entrapped in similar sins. There are SO many of our young boys with the Internet in their hands and not enough first-hand training explaining why to avoid going in the direction of temptations. God doesn't waste anything. He works all things together for good. Who knows, maybe some of those at In Touch Weekly will be set free as Josh shares how the Lord is setting him free. God is all about redemption, which is why He sent us a Redeemer. He perfers mercy over judgement. Josh is a reflection of the redemption of the Lord. Josh is not perfect, but none of us are. It would be prideful to point at his sin and now recognize our own daily sins. God will use this - He has promised to work all things toghether for good, to those who Love God and are called according to His purpose.

DeleteAnna hasn't announced her due date or babies gender but I'm guessing she's in her last trimester now judging by recent pics. Jill's due in July with her son but that's all we know. With Josh they're keeping this all quiet..

Normally I try to not say anything. But how do you know Josh and Anna are leading a"Godly life". You sit and judge others who have been hurt by what went on with the Duggars, saying we act like we have never sinned. When that has nothing to do with it. You seem to think that because once Josh said they are now working on thier marriage and following God, that makes it so...well we were duped once by believing his words and his actions showed differently. Trust has to be earned. And before you say it is between him and Anna, the Duggars have always said they consider thier tv show a mission to show Jesus to the world. I was always a fan, and recommended the show to others. Now as a Christian surrounded by non-Christians, it seems like daily I am trying to explain their actions in accordance with the bible... so yeah, I feel what they have done or do affects me. In my workplace they have made Christianity a mockery. I go to bed praying for nothing else to come out in the news about them or any other well known Christian for that matter, just because I refuse to spend the day ducking my head. I am NOT ashamed of being a Christian, and never will be. I'm glad you are all team Duggar no matter what...Just please try to be a little gentler with other people's feelings too.

I agree with you that when a well known Christian sins it hurts the name of Christ. I hate that the most about this situation; however, we as Christians are just sinners saved by grace. God is the true judge, and He is the only one worthy to punish him. As for what non-Christians think, it is an opportunity to share how Jesus was the only perfect one and that is why He could pay for our sins on Calvary. He arose three days later as He said He would. Jesus took our punishment to make a way for us to go to Heaven. People think if they are pretty good that will get them to Heaven, but let's look at the Ten Commandments. Thou shalt not steal. Have you ever stolen anything? Thou shalt not commit adultery. The Bible considers looking on someone with lust as adultery. Thou shalt not covet. Have you ever wanted what someone else has? Thou shalt not bear false witness. Have you ever lied? Just breaking one of God commandments keeps you out of Heaven where everything is perfect. God as the righteous judge says you cannot enter Heaven if you have broken one of His laws. Jesus stepped in and said He would take the punishment in our place. Romans 10: 9 says, "That it thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Romans 10:13 says, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

DeleteI've been reading this blog and reader comments for months now, and I read your comments as a genuine, heart felt sentiment about Christians in the entertainment industry. I feel sad for you that you must endure a work environment that is hostile towards Christians, and this is a reality the Duggar family seemingly cannot identify with. While most of the negative comments out there are snarky and useless, I have found some to contain legitimate questions regarding the true ministry nature of the show and its alignment with their family's Christian world view. To be effective gospel sharers (here and abroad), one must be educated about who they're trying to reach. It might be time for the Duggar's to authentically measure the cost/benefit of their family's presence in the entertainment industry for the Kingdom. 1 Thessolonians 4:11

Beth, I read your post yesterday and wanted to reply to you but didn't. I have many friends who are christians and they are the kindest most generous and loving people you could meet. They do not preach, and are the first to admit that they are human, make mistakes and humble themsevles and say sorry and try to be better people. You sound like one of these christians, the Duggars on the other hand are not. They have managed to give out the most negative view of being a christian in my opinion. Unfortunately they have the platform their TV show has given them, and sadly this and their social media is what the public sees. You do not need to explain yourself or your faith to others, and they can see by your actions what type of person and christisn you are. Sadly your prayers were not answered, and Josh is adding his name to his sisters lawsuit, again causing people to question how christians can support this family.

DeleteProbably because the header had just been updated a couple days before they announced they were expecting. They'll probably wait until Jill and Anna both have their babies before they update again.

ReplyDeleteI'm not shocked to see Josh there. I'm just not interested in seeing any pictures of the guy. Pics of him don't have to be shared. He's not relevant to the Duggar fans for the most part any more. I'm bothered by the molestation, the porn and the affair. He has major issues in these areas and has for years!! I feel bad for Anna. I know she is trying to give it a try and I respect her for that. I don't have any respect for Josh. I've known a few guys who have issues like he does and it's not something that usually goes away. With that said, God can, if He so chooses to get Josh through this and out of it. I''m not sure Josh is a believer though. Only God knows for sure. Has Anna moved on? Only she and God know that.
