  1. Hoping for comments that recognize these fathers are present in their children's lives. Praying that the fact that these flawed men in all their humanity have a love for their children and feel blessed to have them is the reason any who come here chose to comment. It is a pleasure to see men committed to their children and especially sweet to see pictures of Derrik's dad so as to see his presence in Israel's little face!

    1. It's easy for a man to be in his children's lives when he's home all day. Most fathers have 9-5/M-F type jobs outside the home, not by choice but by necessity. Some dads need to travel for business and are gone long stretches. Some are in the military, gone for months or years, and aren't even able to be home when babies are born. Where's the recognition for how awesome all of those dads can be, too? They have it much harder than Ben or Derick.

    2. Anon @ 2.03 you totally wrote what I was thinking. What does Derick do when he is home in the US? Many missionaries I know get jobs to earn money for basic needs, food etc. I havn't seen any posts or magazine articles about him working. He has a degree in accounting it shouldn't too hard to get some work

    3. Do y'all get paid to bad mouth the Duggars? I mean if I don't like a show I don't watch. Just saying

    4. @ 2:03, you are assuming things you don't know about, regarding Ben and Derick. You are assuming that both of them are in house all day long and don't attend college or work outside the home at all? You need to gather factual information and not make such assumptions here.

    5. I think it is nice that Derrick Dillard honors his deceased father on Father's Day, but when is he going to start to honor his STEP-FATHER!!!!!!!!!! I just can't believe that Derrick does not include his STEP-FATHER in his life. Also, where are the pictures of Ben Seewald's father for Father's Day?

    6. Anon @ 8:37 I have thought the same thing. I know it can be difficult to accept a step parent but as an adult and christian you would think Derick would include his step father. On the other hand maybe his step father doesn't want to be included, believe it or not not everyone wants to be on TV.

    7. @2:03 totally agree with you!!

    8. Derrick was an adult in college when his dad passed away. He may be close to his step-dad, but he didn't grow up with him. Maybe Ben's dad doesn't want his picture posted. Not everyone wants to be splashed all over the internet.

    9. It would be interesting to see an episode that follows Ben and Derrick to work for the day. We know that the Bates men go to work each day - the Duggars could put a lot of rumors to rest if they actually showed the men at regular jobs. Working for a family business doesn't always equate to working every day. Also, having missionaries in the family, I don't understand how Jill and Derrick will ever assimilate into the culture in which they serve if they do not stay for the long haul. I honestly have never heard of a missionary returning in less than two years. Two years on the field and one year off is the usual routine. The year off is a busy year of traveling to share the mission and raise support for another two years on the field. I never wanted to question their call, however, I feel like they have given us enough evidence that they are not called as full-time missionaries that they should possibly be under a bit of scrutiny for their long-term objectives and goals for Central America.

    10. The prisons are full of inmates who have absentee fathers. They would love to have had their dads at home nurturing them.

    11. How do you know he doesn't honour and include his step-father in his life? It may be his step-dad's request to not be shown or talked about on TV, perhaps for job related reasons.

  2. Like the pictures of father and son or sons. My husband and our son have a close bond. Can't get over how much Israel looks like little boy Derick. Like to read about this loving a godly family.

    1. At first I thought the picture of Derick as a child was Israel! The resemblance is amazing.

  4. Aw, great pictures! Even the one with Henry and his big sister. :) Just kidding! I do think it's time for a haircut, though. :) Derick was adorable as a child!

    1. Okay, this is now the first time that I agree Spurgeon could use a haircut. His hairstyle is looking like Rose in Golden Girls.

    2. Just stop. There is nothing wrong with long hair on males or short hair on females. It's 2017, not 1947.

    3. Enough with the "jokes" about Surgeon's hair. His curls are adorable, he's an extremely cute little boy, and Jessa and Ben will give him a haircut when they are ready. Speaking as a mom it's very hard to give up those baby curls.

    4. I am 70 and I still remember how hard it was to give my babies their first haircuts. The minute they get their haircuts, they don't look like your babies any longer. Give Jessa a break. Spurgeon is her first born. She and Ben will decide when the time is right.

    5. I'm not making a joke about Spurgeon's hair. It needs to be cut, plain and simple. There sits Ben with short hair. The first "She's so cute!" he gets with Spurgeon while at the supermarket, maybe he'll get the picture. If Jessa can't give up baby curls, then she needs to realize that it's a mother job to let go little by little over the next 16 years or so. Kids grow and you can't keep them your babies forever, not in the physical sense.

    6. Oh, I know about it being hard to give up the curls. Waiting until the parents are ready may not be the best thing. I knew a couple whose little boy's hair went down to his waist before they were "ready." He may really hate these pictures when he gets older.

    7. So true. My son is 6 months with the sweetest curly hair ever! Sometimes people think he is a girl especially when rocking his baby bun! I think at a year we'll cut them off 😢 Sprugeon's curly hair is super adorable and his parents will know when the best time to cut it is.

  7. Why do people get stuck on someone's hair. I don't normally comment in this but God looks at the heart. It's time to start focusing on the heart of a child. Who cares about hair length or anything for that matter.

    1. Well, the Duggars do seem to believe, based on their clothing preferences and the definite difference in hair lengths between their guys and girls, that the genders should have distinctly different appearances, so the fact that they're letting his hair look long like a girl's seems to contradict that belief. The Bible verse you're quoting says that man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.

  10. Thank you for posting these wonderful pictures. It is so heartening to see these men who love their children and grandchildren so much and are very active in their lives.

  11. It's interesting that Ben puts Razorback t-shirts on his son's when he and Jessa probably will not encourage their sons to attend that or any college!

    1. I guess some things are really for other people, but you can reap the benefits for yourself without any of the input. You can say you're "for" that team but never set foot in the place or send your kids there. What's a little harmless hypocrisy when it comes to rooting for a football team?

  13. Why is Josh and his family ignored? He is part of the family too. He has children. I would think by now the past could remain in the past.

    1. Anon @ 9:33. I think that Josh's past will remain with him forever, especially while his family continues to be on TV and so prolific on social media. In years to come the Duggars will be remembered for two things, the number of children they had, and what Josh did to his sisters and wife.

    2. Maybe they weren't in the area that day. They are not required to report for filming.

    3. It is obvious that you have been lucky enough not to have had been molested. Unfortunately I have not been as lucky and let me tell you it's never it's the past. So if Josh is just ignored then he is very lucky because my molester is in prison. I do take solace in the phrase "God don't like ugly" so I'm sure Josh will eventually get what is owed to him.

  14. My dad was born in 1944 and he had lots of curls... He didnt get his first hair cut until he was around 3. Curls are cute!

  15. Wow, Derick must get the skinny gene from his mom, because his dad was a big bear of a man. While he looks like him I think his brother Dan resembles their dad more, he even has a bigger build.

  16. What about Josh? He is the father of half the Duggar grandkids. It's Father's Day.
