Messages from the Parents and Grandparent

What a memorable birthday Grandma Duggar had on Friday, watching and rejoicing at the wedding of Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth and celebrating Joseph Duggar and Kendra Caldwell's engagement. The members of the Duggar family, as well as Austin's parents, Terry and Roxanne Forsyth, took to YouTube to share their excitement and well wishes for the new Mr. and Mrs. Forsyth.

  1. Memorable and busy day. I'm sure that the family didn't see combining all the celebration less special.
I guess if none of the special women don't feel slighted the viewer shouldn't either.
    Multiple congratulations folk's.

  2. My husband and I married on my grandmother's birthday too! She's gone now and I love remembering her on our shared day.

  3. They're going to be "serving together and working together," according to Grandma? What kind of message is that to give your just-married granddaughter? Sounds like Joy just landed a job, not a husband.

    1. That is a good quote she gave them. Equality and respect, serving and working for the Lord together.

    2. My husband is a pastor. Several of our friends are pastor couples and missionaries. This is "christian -ese speak. We insiders understand that a couple called to christian service were called by God to that team purpose. It is not offensive - it makes perfect sense to us- unfortunately christian -ese language isn't understood for those outside the church" All that being said, this is a typical warm blessing/statement for couples in ministry.

    3. Are they in a ministry?

    4. Anon @ I understand what you are saying but neither Joy or Austin are pators or missionaries. Austin has his own business and helps at his families camp, and now that Joy is married she will be a wife and eventually mother. While this kind of language might be used 'in the church' I think it is often used by some who like to sound more than they really are 'outside' the church. I think this is where it leads to people questioning them and what they mean.

    5. I second that. It is very common for a Christian wedding to not be "only" about the couple and their love for each other, but also about what they will do with their lives together, whom will they help etc. Their love is meant to extend itself towards others.

    6. If you see serving Christ and serving others as work, then yeah.. you would see her comments as a job and not a husband. If you view serving Christ and serving others as a passion, then you see this as a life of happiness, love, and reward. Working together includes every aspect of a marriage. Not just cutting firewood.

    7. My husband and I serve the Lord together in our daily lives be that at work or at home it's just part and parcel of being a Christian and serving together is such a blessing- it's different to serving as a single person which also has blessings in that we have to consider each other in what we do. Example at the moment I'm catering for an event at church my husband knows that he is going to have to help me to serve in this area by doing extra chores, watching our lo etc etc he also knows he needs to keep an eye on me so I don't overdo things as I'm prone to that! The same is the case although it be different areas perhaps he needs help with if my husband is serving in a more visible way. Aside from the very visible acts of service there areas of prayer, praise, obedience to Gods word and of course if blessed with children raising them in the fear of the Lord. Hope this helps explain this quote to you

  4. Austin's father's suit was appropriate and very nice. When is Jim Bob going to trade in that cheap, shiny, ill fitting gray suit and wear one of his more decent dark suits to his childrens' weddings?
I never saw the parents of the bride and groom dressing in a color coordinated way with each other OR with the bridal party. The bridal party colors are their colors; not the family or guests.

    1. That suit sure is making the rounds, for some reason.

MOB and MOG often do wear some colors that kind of coordinate with what the bridal colors are. Except they usually aren't matchy-matchy with the exact colors of the bridesmaids.

    2. There is absolutely nothing wrong with what he's what wearing. And if he had on an expensive high end suit, then everyone would complain about that.

This sight advertises no offensive, vulgar or derogatory comments will be posted. STOP POSTING THEM ALREADY! This was a completely ignorant comment and totally unnecessary.

    4. Anon @ 1:51. I totally agree with you about Jimbobs suit, it looks like it escaped from the 80's, someone needs to put it back in the time machine. My mom wore a beautiful outfit to my wedding that was the same color as my bridesmaids with contrasting shoes bag and hat, she looked fantastic, and the photographs looked great, so it can work.

    1. I think that dress came from Dillards (dept. store), as did Michelle's dress this time and at Jinger's wedding. I've seen them online.

    2. Absolutely love Michelle's dress! Wondered where she got it!

  6. Having lost 3 close family friends in the last 3 years and a father facing Chonic Heart Failure, honestly, as long as everyone's dressed decently, I'm just glad family and friends can make it. Twenty-five years ago what family wore might have mattered to me, just being able to have them there is the priority now (and should have been then).

  7. 5:59PM: I'm glad your husband is a pastor and I welcome your polite explanation...that's great, but Joy and Austin aren't pastors nor are they planning to be missionaries that they have announced. When you say, 'Christian-ese' speak, it's not speaking for all Christians. I am of a Christian faith and we don't have that ever-present language. I would like to hear the Duggars, just for once, speak without sounding like they're in a church service. I understand that marriage is sacred and IT IS a calling in life, but their brand of faith doesn't elevate it to a sacrament. Most people find their language boring, filled with cliches' and overly used. It looses it's luster. Kindly understand that I am not trying to be disrespectful here, as I appreciate your kind, gentle language, but it makes most people, even believers roll their eyes.
