Jinger and Jeremy have a house guest! In this clip, they entertain Jedidiah in their Laredo apartment, and all three of them pitch in to make brunch. As someone who is used to random concoctions of whatever he can find in the kitchen, Jeremy is thrilled to have a woman who can show him the ropes of proper cooking.

Glad one of the Duggar girls can cook, they all at some stage have claimed they can't cook. Maybe Jinger has had some lessons from grandma Vuolo, learning to cook the Italian way, best food in the world (and thats from an Irish girl).
ReplyDeleteDo they claim they can't cook as a way to project a humble/modest attitude? I don't know how the oldest Duggar girls can both be in charge of cooking for the family and also not no how to cook.

DeleteShe was not one of the main cooks, she made the bread with the bread maker, and she just said that she was still getting used to an electric stove versus a gas stove and I can sympathize with, they are very different !
DeleteWhen did that ever happen on the show? The only ones that had trouble was Joy-Anna and Jessa. Are you also one of the ones that claim that the girls take care of the younger kids too without any proof what so ever?
DeleteI think that the Duggar ladies are comfortable cooking for their family but probably a little uncomfortable cooking for their hubbies. They might actually cook better than they think.
DeleteAnon 9:46. I have watched the show since the very first special. The Duggar's themselves have said many times that the older ones help care for the younger ones. They call it the "buddy system". For example, Jill was buddies with Joy-Anna and helped raise her on a daily basis.
DeleteWho makes such an issue with whether the girls can cook or not??? Good heavens people, get a life. Maybe she is learning how to do it more, and possibly had other jobs at her parents home other than cooking??? Does it really matter??? I think not. I think some people just want to find things they think are wrong or a lie. Just stop it.
DeleteAnon @ 1:14 I never said that what she was cooking was italian, merely that she had said she couldn't cook. They should have gone to Italy on honeymoon the food is amazing, i'm going there this summer and can't wait.

ReplyDeleteYes that was when she moved her belongings into the apartment before they got married. Obviously she is used to a gas stove.
DeleteI always used a gas stove. I only ever once try to used a electric-stove and let me tell you, gas stoves are WAY better and you have better control of the heat. That's what she might be use too.

DeleteGas stoves are harder to use and Electric stoves cook better the gas stoves and they are safer then gas stoves.

Cake jars? You do know that these jars are not made to be used in the oven, if that's what you're doing. They can shatter at oven temperatures, and the resulting mess could start a fire.

DeleteHi Vicky, if you are in Australia (or perhaps another country) then TLC will block the video due to licensing rights. I am not 100% sure, but I think after a while they become available for watching :-)
DeleteWhen did this brunch take place because if it happened recently and Jinger and Jeremy have been married 6 months then it sure looks like Jinger hasn't stepped foot in the kitchen since she didn't even know how to turn the stove on.

DeleteI think Jinger is use to gas-stoves. Electric-stoves are harder to use if you always used gas-stoves.

DeleteGas & electric r 2 different ways of cooking! W gas u definitely have betr heat control! I personally like that gas better! Cooking on it takes getting used to! If u have one or other u obviously get used to cooking on it, so when u use other it definitely takes some getting used to, big time

As for electric being safer & gas catching fire that's only bc of stupidity!! Both different & each takes time to get used to!!

DeleteI don't understand why the men in this family aren't expected to learn how to cook, at least basic things. I understand that some families have a more old fashioned chore designation but every adult regardless of gender should learn how to cook a few things for themselves so that they aren't eating cereal for dinner. Plus, not every single woman will enjoy cooking or be good at it, so it isn't unreasonable for their husbands to take over more of the cooking.

DeleteI clearly remember episodes of the boys helping out in the kitchen. We also don't know what goes on when the cameras are off. So nobody can say that the men don't cook.
There has never been a issue with gender equality until women started bringing up. So now every time a woman clean dishes, cook dinner and clean house - women find it offensive. This is getting ridiculous. I have been a wife for 4 years and a mother for 2 years. I clean house because it's relaxing to me. I cook because my husband doesn't know how which makes me feel good because that is one of the many things that I'm better at then him. I endure monthly cycles and cramps - something I know my husband couldn't tolerate because he hates pain. I can endure labor pains and push out a baby, and my husband can't. I can go to the dentist and get a shot in the root of my mouth without blinking a eye, and my husband passes out before they are even able to put the needle anywhere near his mouth. So you see, women are a lot stronger. Men needs us.
DeleteI agree completely with 9:50 and 10:03. Women who are trying to fight for equality which is something that already exist is actually damaging the equality. In reality, there's so much more that women can than men.
DeleteI find it sad that Jeremy is in his late 20s and has lived on his own for probably almost a decade, yet he never bothered to learn to cook properly for himself. I'ts really not that hard and not being able to cook isn't cute once you're out of college.
DeleteMy husband works up to 15 hours a day. I hate cooking so he still comes home and cooks dinner. I don't think that's me "screaming" for equality. It's him choosing not to eat tuna sandwiches for supper every night. He chose not to be greatful for what was provided so I gave him the freedom to change it. We have had a happy marriage for many years because we give each other freedom not only to complain( in a respectful way) about what's not working, but also not being locked into gender roles in the spirit of bringing balance and harmony to the relationship.

Jinger and Jeremy, enjoy your marriage and enjoy each other before getting pregnant. Enjoy your life together; get to know each other. Don't race into getting pregnant just to please the public. It is your life, live it they way you want to live it. Love you, Jinger and Jeremy
ReplyDeleteI had 3 years of cooking and sewing in jr. high school. Everyone in school took it. But I had been at my mother's elbow in the kitchen since I could walk. So by the time I got married, our first meal in our first home was quiche, made from scratch, dough and all. Recipe from Joy of Cooking, which is the one I still use today.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you have a houseful of kids (not to mention those huge kitchens) and the kids don't learn how to cook as well and even BETTER than their mother. And popping open cans or microwaving frozen meals doesn't count.
This may have been from when her siblings helped move her belongings ,,,before they even got married.....think about it,,nothing is correct timing...💚

DeleteEveryone should know how to feed themselves. Man or woman. There are many situations where it is important for a man to be able to feed his family (his wife is too tired, or out cutting the grass, or ill, or in hospital, or away helping a family member, or dies). My husband can cook, his brother can, my father, my brother, and my brother-in-law. All of us women are also good cooks. But, my husband is THE BEST cook of all of us. And he loves it.

DeleteIn a mother's day video Jessa talks about how Michelle taught all the girls to cook and they all helped in the kitchen, Yet newlywed Jessa and Jinger act completely clueless when making a meal. Jinger talks about "fire coming out of the stove", it's just a gas flame. She talks like she's never even seen a non gas stove. That can't be real.

ReplyDeleteHasn't she ever used a stove before? Ginger was quite uncomfortable cooking a simple meal. I have used an electric stove and a gas stove without such difficulty like she has shown here. I don't believe she can cook much at all. Some homemaker training!
