At Jessa's recent baby shower (click here to see pictures), Jordyn Duggar, Josie Duggar, and Jill Dillard share their predictions for the gender of Baby Seewald. They all think Spurgeon Seewald is going to have a little sister. Stay tuned to find out! Jessa Seewald is due in less than three weeks.
My guess is a girl because usually you you only have a second shower if its the oppisite gender and sometime you have whats called a sprinkle if you are having the same gender as last time
ReplyDeleteSprinkle sounds so cute.
Deleteshe asked that the guests donate to a charity rather than give them a gift. l think that is a wonderful idea; but that may be the sprinkle you are talking about too. good guess
DeleteWith so many kids and now grandkids coming along, it seems as if there isn't enough time between the weddings, showers, birthday parties and miscellaneous celebrations to do much of anything else.
ReplyDeleteI'm married to a Mexican. They look at the belly and that's how they tell what someone that is pregnant is having. My husband has never been wrong yet. I say she is having a boy. Her belly looks like her first pregnancy. I haven't asked my husband. I should though.
ReplyDeleteMy husbands the same way he even told someone she was expecting before she knew
Deleteher 1st time, she carried like a basketball. This time she is carrying like a football, so I say girl.
DeleteFor a "Seewald shower" and a "Seewald baby", I didn't see any Seewalds present. Did Ben's mother and sisters, aunts, etc attend? Very Duggar oriented.
ReplyDeleteVery staged and filmed for TV.
Deletea girl
ReplyDeleteDo people normally have baby showers for a second child? I thought it was really only for the first, unless there's a big gap between kids
ReplyDeleteNo, a shower for a second child is not proper etiquette. But in this case I think it was great because she donated the gifts to women in need.
Deletewe had baby "sprinkles" in my family if you were having another child...unless you knew the gender was opposite of the other child(ren).. was just family and a few close friends and mostly a celebration of adding another child, not about gifts etc.
DeleteI thought the same thing. My two kids were over 16 years, so I had a shower for both of them. It seems in poor taste for their families to be throwing them a shower, I thought your friends were supposed to do that.
DeleteYes it is very normal. I had a shower for all my babies because my family and friends wanted to do that for me and my husband. Each baby is special and it's nice to have that time to celebrate that baby.
DeleteI think it's only okay if it's different genders
Deleteall babies deserve a party to celebrate them but she had any gifts given were for a charity which were donated.
DeleteIf the second child is the opposite gender from the first child, it shouldn't be a problem. Or as in this case, when it's being used to minister to people in need.
DeleteWhere I'm from you have a shower for every child no matter what the birth order. That just seems so absurd to not celebrate a second child as much as a first. Also the second child is going to need diapers etc just as much as the first did.
DeleteWell I don't know if the descriptionof the post is close to the reality bit id it is then it is just not enough. A family who claims to be christ like and have earned a lot of money through ministry just giving away devotional books pens and other threaths to woman who really need(!) other things... As a christian I do not believe Jesus led people to believe through pushing his words but through actions! Because pure actions are the loudest! I appologize if threats ment more than they seemed!! Praying for everyone!
DeleteIt is not proper etiquette if the family having the child initiated the shower. A friend can still provide a shower.
DeleteOur multiple showers have never been about registered gifts. It's a celebration and time to share before the birth.
It also allows friends to coordinate food preparation and other needs the couple may need.
Juggling two or more babies in diapers the first three weeks can be difficult without help.
At church, we have baby showers for all the babies because ALL babies are important and special, not just the first one.
Deleteyes i agree
DeleteShe did... she had some kids in need and requested that they not buy for the new baby - but to bless the kids in need.
DeleteI had a shower for my second child because the ladies at my church said they wanted to give me one. It's not bad etiquette to accept a gift from someone who wants to buy you a baby gift.
DeleteA shower is appropriate for each child your not celebrating the mother your celebrating the child. Showers can be specific for 2nd and 3rd such as diaper showers.
DeleteWho on earth decided what is proper etiquette for a baby shower? Couldn't find anything on that one in the Bible. If some one wants to put on a shower for second, fourth or tenth baby regardless of gender doesn't really matter, maybe they are just moved to honoring that mommy.
DeleteIn this case, TLC needed something to film.
DeleteJanuary 14, 2017 at 6:38 PM You took the words right out of my mouth I believe Jesus was through his actions not through pushing his word. His actions spoke loud enough!
DeleteWe don't in Canada however if there are many years apart maybe. However all gifts were donated so this was different.
ReplyDeleteI thought that too, although they didn't actually bring gifts for Jessa...
ReplyDeleteMy children are 17 months apart(boy and girl) and we had a baby shower for both of them. I personally feel like it's only fair to the child to each have their own day. Baby showers are a special time to get together and celebrate a new blessing from God. I wouldn't want my children getting older and feeling like one got more than the other. Both of my babies are precious no matter their birth order!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you 100%
DeleteIt was a baby shower but she didn't get any gifts, they made bags for a home or something.
ReplyDeleteEither way, this is for charity, which is completely appropriate no matter what number baby you are expecting, particularly when you don't have a need for baby items yourself, which is certainly the case with this family.
ReplyDeleteI predict another boy.i think Jill is having a girl.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same. Jessa another boy, and Jill, a girl.
DeleteEvery pregnancy and baby should be celebrated, not just the first :-)
ReplyDeleteIf the gals have girls, I think the name Jubilee will be nice for a first or second name, after their youngest sister whom they shall meet in heaven.
ReplyDeleteI think we are in a Jubilee year.
In my family we give a baby shower for every pregnancy, I have six children and I was given a baby shower for every pregnancy, and not only by my family but also one at work, and one at my church so... I don't know, it's more like a celebration for the new life that is coming into your family, at my church there's always more than one person pregnant whether is the first or child number fourteen we still throw them a baby shower and I think it's fun 💕
ReplyDeleteThere is mention of twins but I think it might be Jill giving birth to twins because she appears to be bigger than Jessa. Regardless, I'm praying for healthy babies.
ReplyDeleteSeriously?! The little girls always guess girl, I keep hoping for the day TLC wil get more
ReplyDeletegenuin!
PLEASE just one more request stop with the TWIN thing!!!!
ReplyDeleteJenna saying we are so excited for the Seewalds to get a new little one, seems so awkward, so distant.... It is strange to me, being a big sister to two little sisters....
ReplyDeleteway too grown up
DeleteIt will either be a girl or boy. It's fun to be surprised. Can't wait till hear the babies name and how they came up with the name. So happy for you.
ReplyDeleteI hope they al enjoyed it and I never had a babyshower we do it different in the Netherlands. I think a girl she glows
ReplyDeleteEveryone is so quick to judge that she had a second shower, what's the big deal if people brought her gifts anyway? I bet when Jill has hers people will bring her gifts, it's not about judging them they can do as they please, in my family every baby born has a baby shower with gifts, I guess it's whatever your opinion is but you don't have to bring so much negativity on here, Jessa choose to help other women instead of herself. Congratulations Seewalds on your new little blessing, I am hoping you have a little girl but I honestly think it'll be a boy.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it not proper? Each baby is unique. Why wouldn't we want to celebrate? Many of my friends get a shower for each baby. We bring food for the feezer so the family can focus on mom and baby and not on preparing meals.
ReplyDeleteHistorically, that is the social etiquette, but I would say it's not proper out of consideration for the finances of your guests. Many people just can't afford shower gift after shower gift when people have multiple children. As families multiply, it can get very burdensome.
DeleteWhy do they say, "I am excited to be an aunt again"? It doesn't go away and come back with a new baby
ReplyDeleteNo....it's just another way of saying they are looking forward to the new baby being born.
DeleteWhere are the Seewald ?
ReplyDeleteI'm the oldest of tree girls and it seems very strange, distant, to me that Jenna would reference to her sister having another baby as the Seewalds? Maby its just me?
ReplyDeleteLittle girls will (almost) always guess girl...
ReplyDeleteIf this "isn't a shower of gifts for Jessa", why aren't they calling it a benefit for that organization?
ReplyDeleteGood question. This is once again about Jessa and her family and filming for their show. Just like the treehouse, the new lights, the decorating, the sister-bonding trips, etc., were for the show. It has become tiresome.
DeleteI thought Ben wanted 15 sons?
ReplyDeleteWell, if its still a girl, they could name it Charlotte, for Charles Spurgeon. I just hope it's not some weird name this time.
