Dillard Update and Video

We are still working on our Duggar New Year's post, but in the meantime, we have a hilarious video of Israel Dillard, who is four days short of 21 months old, to share.

Jill and Derick Dillard recently announced that they are expecting their second child in July 2017. They left Central America in August and have not yet revealed their long-term plans. In a TLC interview last fall, they indicated that a pregnancy announcement could delay their return to the mission field.

When they returned to Arkansas five months ago, the family of three (soon to be four) moved into the home that the Duggars refer to as their guest house.

  1. Bring on the "kid shouldn't be on that table" comments...

    1. Kids shouldn't be on that table. Or be barefoot in winter. Derick's wrapped like he's on an Arctic expedition but Israel is barefoot. Makes my feet cold just looking at it.

    2. Well, since when has it become okay for children to play and stand on tables? That's just disrespectful!

      Delete
    3. Well he shouldn't...

      Delete
    4. You are just stirring things up by even saying that.

      Delete
    5. Then why do they deliberately film when he is one the table?

      Delete
    6. Agree, he should NOT have been on the table.

      Delete
    7. I was thinking the same thing :P

    8. Should go without saying, but I'm sure they have heat, so the home is not cold indoors.

    9. It's not a dining room table, so it's not really gross. I definitely didn't let my kiddos stand on tables, but at least both parents are right there in case he starts to fall and it isn't that high up.

      .what ev🤔😜😲

    11. I agree. Kids shouldn't be on the table. I would never let mine stand on it like that. But the Duggars play rough - you can see that from how the little kids play at the main Duggar home. I only said the original comment because the comments are so predictable!

    12. Seriously folks, this family knows how to raise children! If I needed advice on child rearing, I'd go ask them! If anyone of you even have any children, I'm guessing you weren't critiqued on every parenting choice you ever made for your child. It's so easy to sit back and criticize others. What's disrespectful and gross? All the negativity towards the family. Let's be respectful, and lift this family up!

    13. They are no better at "raising children" than any other family with too many to keep an eye on. Remember when the boys were horsing around and one fell off a stage, getting seriously injured?

  2. He is very cute! Jill delivered Israel about 2 weeks before I had my daughter and it is always interesting to see how someone the same age is developing. I pray that God will use them in the states for the time being, so she gets the best prenatal care possible rather than being in Central America.

  3. What is the update the header refers to? They have been back in AR for quite a lengthy period of time with no update as to their plans? It's doubtful she will have this baby in CA. Don't picture them going back there any time soon. It didn't seem to be a good fit for Jill.

  4. That's so cute! I'm sure Israel is probably wondering how his parents can be in two places at once. He's such a cute little guy!

  5. Wait, wasn't that house decorated last summer with all thrift store furniture? That doesn't look like the stuff they moved in on the show. What??

  6. I'm a fan of the show, and I love the family, but I wish that Derrick would lose the "man bun" & get a haircut. He would look better that way, I think.

  7. This is the cutest!

  8. What a sweetheart ! I love watching him grow up. What a blessing !!

  9. so cute!! Israel is so adorable that anything he does is super cute!

  10. He is SO cute!!!! So glad they shared this :)

  11. "Update" is a misnomer. That giggling baby though, so cute.

  12. oh my gosh he is so adorable!!! He's such a happy boy!I hope no one says anything about him being on the table, he is fine, both of his parents are right there. He's having such a good time LOL

    1. Too late Shari. I think it's cute he's standing on the table! I have the cutest picture of my daughter who was at the time a little older than Israel standing on the table singing. All one has to do is wipe the table down afterwards.

    2. Why would it ever be ok for a child to stand on a table??? Don't manners apply to this family?

      Delete
    3. It's not only an issue of manners, it's also about safety. A toddler's head makes his body top-heavy. Falling accidents happen in less than the blink of an eye. Plus it's not good to let a child think it's OK to climb on furniture, ever. Didn't all of you just see that video of the dresser that fell on two toddlers who were climbing the drawers?

      Delete
    4. Well, sometimes little toddlers get to do things that aren't exactly appropriate for adults, like taking a bath in the kitchen sink, for example.

      Delete
    5. Clearly you were never a child! Of course it's not ok but a child of that age will take ages to get that!!!! My son slightly younger occasionally does this .... yeah he actually forgets the rules!!!!! I guess you wish they were telling him off.... maybe afterwards they explained that he should get a step etc to look at high up things and not the coffee table .... maybe they showed him he'd got his feet on it ... maybe he wiped up who knows big deal he's cute and being a lovely happy child! They grow too fast!!!!

    6. Both parents are right there, yes, but it only takes a second for something to happen. He could fall and hit his head on one of the corners before they could even catch him. Not that he couldn't get hurt without being on the table, but it just seems like an unnecessary risk.

      Delete
    7. Seriously -- complaining about "manners" for a two year old????

      Delete
    8. No, complaining about a constant pattern of Jill and Derick not being careful with Israel. God forbid someday Ellie posts a picture of him in a cast.

    1. He is keeping up the long tradition in that family of climbing places they shouldn't.

    2. Why do you drive a car? You can get in an accident?

  16. That house is really beautiful. I have been married 25 years and and My husband worked and I stayed home with the kids and we have never had a house that beautiful. They have been married and unemployed for for two years and living in a beautiful home with a pool and grandparents for help and company next door. Is Jessa going to be stuck in that little house with three kids like they made Anna do?
I feel certain that if Joy marries Austin she will be stuck working at that family camp so Jimbob won't have to provide her a house but Poor Joys will be doing hard labor to earn her keep. Just watch their reality show and you will see how hard they work. Those kids were about to drop at the end of the day.

    1. I think it's wonderful that the parents are able to help all of the newlyweds out. I'm so happy for them that they have that big beautiful house! They've made a good living for themselves, and not only from TLC either. And what's wrong with teaching your kids about working hard. It's very fulfilling to see what you've accomplished afterwards. And you learn a lot in the processes!

    2. I thought the whole point of getting married was that "two become one" and you start making your own way in life together? That means supporting yourselves, and if your income is meager, then you adjust. You learn how to manage your money and live within your means. You learn that it's your own hard work that can change things. THAT is the valuable lesson you teach your children, not that they can rely on you to give them everything they'd ever want! How do you ever get personal satisfaction from that system? The right kind of satisfaction that comes knowing you did what needed to be done by yourself, I mean.

    1. Yes, I think it's wise to kick back and enjoy dangerous moments with toddlers, too.

May I remind you that gravity works faster than a parent can move to catch a falling object. The phrase "Get down!" was created for a good reason.

      Delete
    2. I use that phrase on a daily basis :)

  19. Is he pointing to a picture of the way his dad used to look, then looking at his dad now, then cracking up? Or is he laughing because he knew Santa really did come down the chimney, and he does exist?

  20. If anyone allowed a child to stand on my furniture...family or otherwise...that would be the last time they would be invited to my home. Just plain rude!!

    ReplyDelete

    1. Nope, it's not their OWN HOME. It's JimBob's. And that still doesn't make it any less dangerous.

  21. Ok... So these children are blanket trained, but are allowed to stand on tables?

    1. Ha! I think blanket training went out the window with the birth of Jackson!!!

    3. You know not, their own version of blanket training does not hit nor do they hit their kids, drives me nuts when people assume they know them fully.Friend of Duggars

Agree, he's dressed lightly and Derirck has a winter jacket on???
I doubt Jill and Derrick will return to the mission fields; she's had enough and he looks a bit unhealthy!

  23. When you are young, it doesn't seem like a big deal that your child is standing on a table. I wouldn't think about letting a child do that in my house now.... but when my kids were young, I have pictures where they were on the table (and jumping to the couch). I think the older we get, the more we think about safety and the more we hear about accidents. It makes us more cautious. As a young parent, you just don't always think about the possible consequences.

  24. Jill is such a good mom to Israel, I can't wait to see his new little brother or sister.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I would have been smacked into the middle of next Tuesday if I had done that as a child. I know people whose kids behave that way and they are not welcome in my home.

    ReplyDelete
  26. His laughter is contagious! :)

*Seriously... A comment about Israel being barefoot and Derick dressed like he's going in an expedition? He looks like having a mp3 player in his hand... may be was he going outside for a run and Jill called him to come see Israel laughting?
