Derick Dillard Consults Doctor on New Season

We're counting down the days until the season three premiere of Counting On! It all starts next Monday at 9pm ET/8pm CT.

Readers have been asking if this season will just be an extended rerun of Jinger's wedding, but we assure you that TLC has plenty of new content in store.

In addition to watching Jinger Duggar choose her wedding dress and make preparations for her big day, the episodes will also feature updates from the rest of the Duggar siblings. Among other exciting footage, watch as Joy-Anna Duggar enters a courtship with Austin Forsyth, Jessa and Ben Seewald take advantage of their last months of life with just one child, and Jill and Derick Dillard talk to a doctor about Derick's health (promo video below). And before Jinger ties the knot and moves away, the Duggar sisters gather for one last hurrah...a bachelorette party!

  1. So glad to hear Derrick is getting checked out! Hopefully the doctor does a full work up on him and not just for the gaggy feeling Derrick described in the video.

    2. Hi Deryck! A few years ago I started choking and gagging when I talked, ate, exercised, etc..after several tests, doctors and specialists..an esophagus specialist from Washington University in St Louis MO told me after conducting my second endoscope and a motility test that I was having severe esophageal spasms. He was not sure what had caused my nerves in my esophagus to get so sensitive...but he warned me to never let anyone operate on my esophagus. He called my condition nut cracker esophagus. Hope this helps. Dina

    3. I was watching with my boys and they suggested you work with a running coach. They seem to think the running posture they saw could aggravate any other issues you have. Obviously, it won't be a 100% fix, but they seem to think it will help with what they saw during running. HTH!

    Just one thing. ...Flame???
Again? That concert did not look christian at all. He's a nice guy and all but please no more flame.

    1. What does Christian look like exactly?

    2. A Christian should aim to act like Jesus, whatever they do they should be comfortable doing in front of Him. I love the Duggars, but I personally do not see FLAME's concerts and music as God-honoring.
      God bless,
      Holly

    3. Actually flame is a Christian rapper and I personally got to meet him face to face at a Christian youth convention and he's so amazing

    4. Yes.... what exactly does a Christian look like?
Like many people in here say, if you don't like it than don't watch it 😊 I do want to watch the concert...
      GO FLAME!!!'

    5. As Christians, we are to live a life of holiness
and purity. The Bible tells us to be unspotted
from the world. We are to be different from the
rest of the world. Even though we still sin,
we are to strive for holiness.

      Delete
    6. I'd like to know what Christian looks like, also. I think it's probably much different than many of us think.

      Delete
    7. Wow,look Christian? I am so thankful that my heavenly Father isn't looking for people who "look"....

      Delete
    8. Just because you don't like rap doesn't mean it can't be Christian!!! I have heard some very powerful Christian rap and I have enjoyed it. Not everyone was raised listening to harps.

    9. People said the same thing about coffee House's in the 70s. It takes different approaches to spread the word and reach different generations.

    10. When my husband and I were first married we were part of a Christian motorcycle ministry called Reborn Riders. Our ministry was to reach out those men and women who were involved in motorcycle gangs, recovering addicts etc. When were out in ministry we were on motorcycles. We probably looked scary but when we shared Jesus people who we were ministering with relaxed. And no because of being on motorcycles we didn't "look" Christian but we lived Christian lives and people knew were Christians by our actions.

And please don't think I'm coming down on you all who were being critical of Flame. I'm just sharing that once upon a time, I used to have ideas on how a Christian is supposed to look.

    12. The very first Christian concert I went to, I was about 23 it was a Christian rock concert. I was skeptical about going, but my college Bible group was going. I was raised up on Mahalia Jackson, James Cleveland, and others gospel artists. The group we saw was(I'm dating myself now!) The Darrell Mansfield Band. It was 1984.I have to say, I was impressed and enjoyed this concert. I really believe that God can use non traditional means if you will, to reach people for Christ. Whether that be through loud music or the Christian motorcycle club I mentioned in my first reply which as of this comment hasn't come through yet.

  3. are we going to hear more about John David, Jana, Josiah and Joseph? There wasn't a single word about them in the promo. Seems like you only get air time if you are getting married, in a courtship or having a baby. Please fill us in on the other kids!

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yes yes yes...I Agree...please more of the rest of the kids.I miss them dearly, we have watched them grow and their significance in the family is just as show worthy as the rest of the married and courting ones, The little ones would be nice to hear from every now and again also, we went thru so much with Josie's path and then we were abandoned some what, you CAN love from a far, we felt connected deep to that whole situation, so yeah, it would b nice to throw us a bone every now and then.

    1. The Duggars have repeatedly highlighted many ministries, many genuinely awkward moments in serving in and with different cultures and backgrounds. The episodes are about bringing the hope of Christ in unity. They show the greatness of God and the wideness of His Love for all. They also show the beauty of humility and the joy of Christian fellowship. Kudos, TLC, Ben and Flame!

    4. What really makes it strange is that they say nothing (anywhere, online or on TV) about Derick's health and then all of a sudden, they show him choking and gagging on TV?! They were waiting to make that a story line? Yuck!

    1. I was thinking the same thing. So often TLC tells us they have a special annoucement or Jessa is expecting twins (how many times have they said that, anyway?) or suggesting that someone is courting when they are not? I wouldn't be surprised at all if there is nothing wrong with Derick but he was retching because he wasn't used to running in the heat. So tired of TLC's lame story lines, sorry.

      Delete
  24. I'm praying Derrick is OK. God is a kind and loving God and able to work mightily for those who trust Him.
Flame may be more flamboyant than most of us are used to. I see great potential to reach the youth of this country who need the Lord so badly. God bless him and his mission he feels called to.
Looking forward to the new season. DVR is ready to go!

  25. I enjoy the episodes with Flame and Ben highlighting their joint ministry to bring hope, specifically the hope of Christ, to young people of all cultures and social or economic status. Both of these young men are risking the genuine awkwardness that comes from a collision of dissimilar backgrounds in order to inspire unity and fellowship. Thank you, TLC, for sharing and I hope you continue to highlight their work. Bless them both!

    1. Ben is the only one in the family who has displayed an ability to think for himself. It seems to be rubbing off on Jessa as well. Good for them.

    2. Show me one young person who was going to be an atheist but changed their mind when they heard Christian rap. I think that's putting a pretty lofty religious goal on something so worldly.

I don't like Ben jumping around, either, enticing other young people to get so physical with the beat of the music. I thought that was the very thing the Duggars and their friends discouraged?

      Delete
    3. Anon@10:10 Chill. If that's the worst thing Ben does, I think it's a safe bet that he won't be losing his salvation over it.

      Delete
    4. I do agree with you. It does appear worldly and
we as Christians should not look or act like
the world. I feel the same about Christian rock.
It is taking the worlds idea of music and just
changing the words to sound Christian.

      Delete
    5. Dancing is totally Biblical. Psalms 149 and 150 come to mind. But it's all over both the Old and New Testament. Why focus on the speck in your brother's eye when you have a plank in your own? Stop criticizing these good families.

      Delete
    6. The "world's version of music". So because you don't like the style you're still against it even though there's a positive message? Unbelievable

  26. I see in this trailer for the NEW season that they're including Jinger's wedding day and ceremony. We have already seen that, TLC, please don't waste any more new air time with re-running the old. You're loosing your viewing audience by doing that yet again.

I just hope he received the help he needed so he can be a healthy Dad to his children and manage a steady job to support them.

    2. He had a steady job at WalMart and left it.

    3. Why would any of "the masses" have to be quiet? If you find out someone is sick, being quiet about it accomplishes nothing.

  28. I pray there is nothing life-threatening wrong with Derick.. he does not look well.

  29. New season will prolly be full of rewind and stock footage again. And it never really follows the other sugar adult children.

  30. This season looks boring. Same old stuff. We get it: the Duggars court and have babies and go on mission trips. Show us something we haven't seen 100 times already.

  34. I like Flame, he likes to joke around and he is funny and he makes me laugh. He's not all serious, he's Flame. Why can't we just enjoy the show.

    ReplyDelete
  35. What a stupid question Jill asked Jinger (and I think she realized it). You try on as many dresses as you need to till you find the one.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Why do they put rap and retching on their shows? I will not be looking forward to this season and may stay away.

    ReplyDelete
  37. The rap segments with Flame may be in an effort to "be relative/stay current" and gain or maintain viewing numbers. The retching is just coarse, no two ways about it. TMI-too much information. I think TLC is largely determining the direction of the show (sadly enough), judging by: the amount of rerun footage; projects that seem to only benefit the Duggars themselves (like the playhouse); showcasing the ordinary (raising a garden); filming the immodest (birth scene segments); trumpeting the shallow (putting together a fashion "look"/hair & makeup tutorials/weekend getaways). It feels like the Duggars have become servants to the network, rather than the network serving them with a platform for their values. It feels like everything is engineered with ratings in mind-it's lost any authenticity it had. So, the story lines feel either forced or stale and the show comes across as struggling. The adult children getting married and having children isn't all that unique and can only carry the show so far. I think they'd be better served by "returning to their roots" and doing what they did, the way they did, before they had a show. I think they all would be much happier too, individually and as a family. Quite a few of the family members seem very stressed in a lot of the episodes and pictures.

  38. My mother in law had problems with gagging. She had many tests, had her esophagus stretched, went to gastroenterologist, etc. It turned out she was allergic to Gluten and potatoes. At first, her throat would close up just a little bit and would make her gag. She didnt realize her throat was closing up. Later, she was having trouble swallowing. Then she started gagging and throwing up. The food allergy was causing mucus and antiphalactic shock. First, with minor symptoms and more severe as time went on. It was an easy fix once she stopped eating Gluten and potatoes. Problem totally went away. It was amazing to us no Dr. suggested that might be the problem. Her daughter decided to experiment eliminating different foods, gluten first to see if that was the problem. Then, potatoes. People with Gluten allergies often have trouble with potatoes. That solved the problem. Good luck. I hope you find out what's wrong. God bless you.
